You wander aimlessly. Ever since the sun has turned red and the ground sizzles under your paws, and there have been no twolegs or other cats you've seen.
It has been hard to find prey, and harder to find water. You have started to run out of hope that your hunger and thirst will ever be quenched, no matter how many crispy and dead plants you paw over.
Until one day, you see it.
The Clan that had been spoken about as far back as you can remember, meant for those who didn't want a soft life filled with pampering.
You begin to run, but days without food have caught you and you crumple to the ground. All hope seems lost, and you can't muster the tears to cry over how close you were to salvation, until you hear faint voices.
"Copperstar! Quick, there's a survivor!"
BlazeClan is set during the days when the sun has become a red giant and is swelling, and most of humanity has died out due to frivolous wars during their last days. Despite this, BlazeClan have found a home in the valley of two great mountains, where the temperatures are a little cooler and a large lake continues to survive against all odds.
Before you begin to roleplay or join, there are a few rules that need to be followed no matter what.
Bolding is for the rule.
Normal text is for why the rule is in place/what the rule means.
1. Follow all forum and ProBoard rules. I don't want this thread to be deleted or for anyone to be banned, so please make sure you follow everything. If you need a refresher, click here.
2. Do not steal anything from this roleplay. I spent a while coming up with this idea and then trying to execute it so do not steal anything from this thread. Exceptions will be if you are given direct permission from me (or in the case of a character, the owner of the character).
3. Be active. This Clan is going to be my first serious Clan, and I don't want it to fizzle out. If you think you cannot post at least three times a week, please do not join this Clan. If you are in a position of power (leader, deputy, medicine cat, head scout) you must post at least four times a week. Also, saying (Hello!) does not count. Please make it a legitimate contribution. If you will be gone, I will excuse you as long as you tell me in advance. If you are absent for one week, I will send you a message warning you that your character(s) will be deleted. If you do not (a.) respond with a reason, (b.) post a contributing roleplay message in the thread, or (c.) tell me you will be gone for longer, I will delete your characters after one more week. You have two weeks in total to talk to me or post in the thread.
4. Be literate. I want this Clan to be a semi-literate to a literate roleplay, so absolutely no one-liners! A good rule of thumb is to match someone else, or have around four lines/five sentences per response. Also, no txt tawlk pls XD uwu. It's hard to read and definitely not in the original books.
5. Be reasonable. When in doubt, ask yourself if whatever you're doing is possible in the given universe. Obviously male tortoiseshells with blue eyes don't exist (normally) in our world, but they're possible in Warriors. However, purple pelts, three eyes, wings, or telepathy are not possible in Warriors. This also applies to the actual roleplay -- do not godmod or powerplay at all. It sucks to have to respond to and is in general really annoying. Also, make sure you do not have a Mary/Gary-Stu. It's unreasonable for your cat to catch prey and win the fight every time, especially in the BlazeClan environment.
6. No kit anything. Don't steal kits, don't kill kits (unless permission is given), and absolutely no ***ting ever!
Regarding character creation:
1. Keep the ratio of males/females and apprentices/warriors even. By "even", I mean that there is a reasonable amount of each side. 16 females and 3 males is not even, and 7 warriors with 15 apprentices is not even. This is why I request that you make two non-apprentices at least, one male and one female. In order to make an apprentice, you must have made two other cats (combinations can include two warriors, one warrior and one elder, one warrior and one medicine cat, or one warrior and one queen).
2. Keep the amount of cats you have reasonable. There's that word again! This time, I mean that if you can't roleplay twelve cats, don't have twelve cats! There is no pressure to have more than two cats -- in fact, if needed, you may PM me about only having one character. If you want to have twelve cats, just roleplay all of them evenly (or as evenly as possible).
3. Don't make your cat a high position if you haven't asked. Please PM me if you want a high position. I don't like turning people down so please don't assume I'll choose you because you requested the position. Also, there is no code word so don't look for one.
Those are the nine golden rules! Please follow them all!
BlazeClan is at a status of folklore for the Clan cats because the history of the Clan goes back for so long. Many cats are unnamed and lost to time, but some still try to retell the story of BlazeClan. The kit's tale goes something like this:
Long ago, a cat spoke to the stars, and they told him one day the sun would eat the ground away. The only way to stay safe for the longest amount of time possible was to find the valley -- an area where water pools at the bottom and there is enough land for many cats over many moons.
The cat traveled for almost his whole life before discovering The Blaze: the legendary vision of flames sprouting from the water. Once the cat had seen them, he began recruiting cats and decided to call themselves BlazeClan to honor the star cats, who told him they were called StarClan.
After many, many moons the sun began to get larger and turn red, and twolegs began to flee and leave their housecats alone. They had to venture and find shelter, food, water, or anything that would help them. After a while, they would always have their paws guide them to BlazeClan.
In actuality, the founder of BlazeClan called himself The Wanderer, and he was not the only one to experience The Blaze. Instead of being sent to the Moonstone or Moonpool, the leader must stand on the Great Boulder and StarClan will see if the new leader is fit to lead. If not, they will not see The Blaze or gain their nine lives.
In this Clan, the prefixes Blaze, Fire, and Sun are not allowed, as they are considered sacred or dangerous. While moon/water related prefixes and suffixes are common, they are in no way the norm and are just used as a sort of 'good luck' charm.
The BlazeClan territory is large, and for the most part sits in a valley of two mountains.
The leftmost mountain is called Fire Peak and the rightmost mountain is called the Scout's Outlook.
Fire Peak is where the Great Boulder is, but since it's so high up the climb usually takes a day to get to. It's not dangerous, though -- you can actually walk up most of it and the Great Boulder sits on a relatively flat area. There's enough room for the whole Clan in case of emergencies like forest fires, but it's better for small groups of ten or less cats. Fire Peak is covered in small rocks, dirt, gravel, and small plants and grasses. Occasionally goats can be seen climbing the mountain, but this is usually during leaf-bare or green-leaf.
Scout's Outlook is what the mountain is called, but the actual area for the scouts is at the middle (a point higher than the Great Boulder). This area is like a mini-camp for the scouts and scout apprentices because of the clear view of the lake and surrounding area. Because of the long trek, scouts take turns on who must go down to report to the current leader every day. The cat will usually sleep in camp with the others, eat something, and then travel back up the mountain. The job is usually unwanted because of this, but some are called to the task and treat it with the respect it deserves.
The camp is set in the middle of these two mountains, and is surrounded with various rocks, bushes, and brambles. The dens are sunken into the ground, and if more dens are ever needed they're carved away as the ground is made of clay/dirt and is easy to dig. The leaders den is the farthest from the entrance, and has a flat rock covering half of the opening. The shade reduces the temperature and the clay stays cool during the day (when the cats sleep). The medicine den is by a large tree with a huge canopy of leaves, so herbs can be stored by the roots to dry during the day, and the actual medicine den is a very shallow sinkhole with the canopy of leaves shading it from the sun. Various rocks and cat-made barriers help prevent herbs blowing away in the wind and reduce draft inside, and during storms rain pools in a dug-out area near the entrance for ill cats.
The warriors, queens, apprentices, and elders den are all on the left side of the camp and are shading with trees, bushes, or flat rocks jutting out. All of the dens can be likened to the tunnels in WindClan mixed with caves -- they are hollow and big enough for many cats and the only problem is during occasional hurricanes/heavy storms when the dens can begin to fill with water, however ditches are dug by the entrance of all dens to help prevent this.
In the middle of camp is where the prey pile is and during Clan meetings, the leader will climb the tree by the medicine den and sit on one of low hanging branches.
After exiting the camp and walking forwards, you will find the lake. Most prey is caught near or in the lake. If you go backwards from the camp, the valley continues. Only scouts roam there.
Continuing to the left of the lake, you'll find the boneyard and Red Tree. The boneyard is a place where the dead are buried, and some cats often go there to reminisce in memories. The Red Tree is just an abnormally tall tree, and apprentices are often tasked with climbing at least half-way as part of their test to become a warrior/scout.
Continuing to the right will lead you to a forest and the old twolegplace. The forest is relatively cool so prey is usually found there. Walking for two days will lead you to the twolegplace, which has been abandoned for many moons. Kittypets, rogues, and loners often come from the right of the lake for this reason.
The red tree to the edge of the forest is the widest part of the territory, and the midway point of the valley to the midway point of the lake is the longest.
Not much else is know about the land surrounding the territory, but most cats believe that the moorish, rocky ground is consistent forever. Perhaps one day the cats will discover something beyond their borders...

Leader: [Copperstar] (infernoMarshmallow ) [Female] [Heterosexual] [52 moons] [Copperstar is a tortoiseshell cat with medium length fur, however her fur is rather thick and hard to manage so it can end up looking poofy or wild. She has no scars or nicks anywhere, but she does have a black nose and bright green eyes. Copperstar is definitely a warrior at heart -- she loves the thrill of battle and hunting and enjoys the day-to-day life of a warrior. She is rather serious, and slow to catch on sarcasm, but she far from dumb. She likes chatting but is not a big fan, and she can get a bit aggressive over her opinions even if she realizes she might be wrong. She wants to be seen as a model for other cats, but she also doesn't like being looked up to as she feels like she makes too many mistakes. She doesn't like to make mistakes and when she does she'll agonize over them for days. While she doesn't ever want to have kits and voices how they get underpaw often, she secretly thinks they're really cute and enjoys playing with the kits when no other warriors are watching.] Copperstar has six lives left.
Deputy:
Head scout:
Medicine cats:
[Willowbreeze] (86 ) [Male] [Homosexual] [48 Moons] [Willowbreeze is a long-furred, green-eyed, light brown tom with a darker brown overcoat and neck, which stretches down his chest and partway to his belly. It becomes darker brown on the back of his neck and stretches to his shoulders and the back of his head.. The overcoat and neck marking stretch onto his face, creating identical stripes beneath his eyes, the top half being darker brown and the bottom half being lighter. His paws share the same dark brown as the overcoat, the toes being darker. Willowbreeze is a generally calm cat, with a kind, nurturing attitude towards others. However, he often seems distant, and never really responds to talk outside of small talk. He's unfocused, often going off-task until he finishes the task he drifts off to, then returning to finish the original task unless reminded. He thinks and talks to himself a lot. He's perceived as mysterious by others, and occasionally strange, as he seems to have a keen focus on one specific plant seed around his den.] [Willowbreeze used to be a self-called "gardener." He tended to a collection of plants he had, mainly consisting of cats that thrived off the nearby water, most noticeably willow trees. However, when the sun expanded and turned red, his garden caught on fire and he was forced to flee, only being able to salvage a single seed from one of his willow trees. He eventually found BlazeClan and became their medicine cat, wanting to again be as close to plants as he used to be.] [Willowbreeze is fiercely protective over his willow tree seed, swearing that he'll one day find a place to plant it so that it can grow again. Other than that, it's common to find drawings in the dirt floor of his den, or even on the tree roots on the inside. Whenever he has to leave the camp, Willowbreeze always takes the willow tree seed with him, regardless of how it could weigh him down. His theme song is Rival x Cadmium - Willow Tree (feat. Rosendale) [NCS Release]] Apprentice: Rowanpaw -- [Rowanpaw] (โตโฯัั gฮนัโโต) [Tom] [Questioning] [6 moons] [Rowanpaw is a lanky ginger tabby tom with light brown eyes. His underbelly is a cream color along with one of his back paws and his tail tip. His vision isn't as well as other cats, mostly everything is blurry for him but he doesn't seem to mind it too much. He is a quiet friendly cat, he thinks that a cat that speaks too much is foolish. He can come across as aloof, constantly over thinking things and usually answering a while after the cat has already spoken. He loves learning herbs, finding each one interesting in their own special way. ] [Sibling of Palepaw, kit to Poppyshine]
Warriors:
[Sootnose] (infernoMarshmallow ) [Male] [Asexual] [32 moons] [Sootnose is a white cat with medium length fur and has a black patch of fur around his nose and tail. His eyes are both honey colored and his actual nose is black as well. His claws are on the longer side, but are nothing extreme or annoying to have. He also has a nick in his left ear and a long scar along his right flank. Sootnose is a bit of a joker and doesn't enjoy fighting the most, but will defend his Clan no matter what the threat is. He enjoys having conversations in general, but he is by no means extroverted. If he's wandering around alone, he just needs to reboot from being around too many cats at once. If you catch him at a good time, he'll talk to you forever but he might clam up if you get pushy or make him do something he doesn't want to do. He tries to be good about his stubbornness, but most of the time, no means no with him.] -- [Moonwing] (infernoMarshmallow ) [Female] [Heterosexual] [38 moons] [Moonwing is a silver tabby with short fur, white paws, and a white underbelly. Her eyes are a pale blue and her claws are on the shorter side but her canines are long. Her toe pads are pink as well as her nose, and she has a patch of bald skin on her right shoulder from where she was burned as a kit. Moonwing is considered a pretty cat and her personality reflects that -- while she tries to be kind, she is a little self-centered and complains a bit. However, she means well and tries to make friends with every cat. She'd like to have kits someday but if she doesn't, she's okay with that. Originally she was going to be a scout but she realized that her heart wasn't in it, a lesson that taught her to listen to her gut. She isn't too ambitious either, but she loves BlazeClan.] Apprentice: Palepaw -- [Poppyshine] (โตโฯัั gฮนัโโต) [She-cat] [Heterosexual] [33 moons] [She is dark ginger she-cat with light brown eyes. She has cream tabby markings along her whole body and a fluffy pelt. She is a sweet she-cat, trying to play diplomat in most situations. She doesn't like fighting in any situation, she prefers to try and solve things with words. Despite this, she is fiercely protective over her clan and kits ready to die for them. She is the middle ground of her two kits, speaking when spoken to and chatting when others try to talk to her. She doesn't like talking about who the father of her kits are though, she will go quiet and try to change the subject very quickly on anyone who mentions it.] [She is mother to Rowanpaw and Palepaw]
Scouts:
[Eagleclaw] (infernoMarshmallow ) [Male] [Heterosexual] [45 moons] [Eagleclaw has short, dark brown fur with amber eyes and a black nose. His toe pads are also black and he has a collection of scars from skirmishes. Eagleclaw is a chatty cat, but is overly serious and dedicated to his job. He appreciates his place in the Clan and tries to prove his worth to everyone as he used to be a rogue. He is ambitious and wants to be at least head scout someday, but is content with living his days as a scout and retiring as an elder some day. He never wanted to be a warrior as he is adventurous and loves to explore, and he enjoys fighting to protect his Clan and journeying to find new lands with water. He is not the greatest teacher however, and isn't good with kits or apprentices. He tries his best however.] -- [Jaggedstrike] (86 ) [Female] [Bisexual] [36 Moons] [Jaggedstrike is a short-furred gray she-cat with bright amber eyes. She has a lighte gray stripe along her back as well as lighter gray paws, ears, points, and chest-fur. These markings are lined with a slightly darker gray. She has lighter gray inner ear fur, and darker gray stripes. Jaggedstrike is a concentrated, hardworking cat with a single goal in mind: Do your job and protect the clan. She is commanding and strict, expecting work to be done before anything else. She is loyal, and isn't afraid to call other cats out if she believes they are being troublesome or trying to betray their clan. She is determined, and it's hard to change her ideas. Her only weakness is friends. Her loyalty is divided between her job and friends, wanting to protect both the clan and her friends at the same time. She is also highly self conscious, afraid that she might be leading the others into danger or taking a wrong route.] [Jaggedstrike would be lead scout, however, her self-consciousness drives her away, as due to how reliant and used to she is to following orders, she doesn't exactly know how to give orders. Her theme song is Crash by Neovaii]
Apprentices:
[Palepaw] (โตโฯัั gฮนัโโต) [She-cat] [Bisexual] [6 moons] [Palepaw is a lithe short furred cream colored she-cat with light brown eyes. She has an almost white chest and right ear. She stands tall for her age, and she tries to use that to her advantage. She is hot-headed, constantly trying to jump paws first into trouble and never knowing when to keep her mouth shut. She can talk any cat's ears off, loving to talk and discuss anything under the sky. She thinks the answer to most problems is fighting whatever is threatening her clan and she hates the idea of solving things by letting other walk over her or her clan. She hopes to some day be the best warrior she can be, quick to learning how to fight but slow in learning hunting moves. ] [She is the sibling of Rowanpaw, kit to Poppyshine]
Scout apprentices:
Queens:
Elders:
[Riversong] (infernoMarshmallow ) [Female] [61 moons] [Bisexual] [Riversong is a black tabby with short fur and blind green eyes, and deep gashes cover her face. She was forced to retire early as she could no longer see due to a rogue scratching her eyes, but she can still hear and smell clearly. She is rather cranky with warriors and scouts, and often calls them pushy, but she's just jealous that they are continuing to work while she can't. However, she enjoys telling stories to those who wish to listen and she likes distracting the kits so their mothers can get a bit of a break. Because of her limitations, she has a lot of time to reflect and think and is considered one of the wisest cats in the Clan.] -- [Brokentooth] (โตโฯัั gฮนัโโต) [Tom] [Heterosexual] [67 moons] [Brokentooth is a solid black tom with broad shoulders. His fur is usually unkempt, mainly because he's too lazy to clean it himself. He got his name from the broken front tooth he received as a kit, he doesn't like going into how it happened claiming he doesn't want others to think so highly of himself. He's very stubborn when it comes to things involving himself, he doesn't like being told what to do or being reminded of his age unless it benefits him. Despite all of this, he can be described as soft as a bunny by apprentice's or kits who go up to him because he graciously gives them stories of his youth and tends to be easier on them than he is on the warriors who speak to him. He likes to believe that if it came down to it, he would be able to jump into battle for his clan but the pain in his joints prevents this. He refuses to listen to any cat about this besides maybe the medicine cat's if they offer him herbs.] [He broke his tooth as a kit during a play fight with his siblings, his mother wanted his name changed from Brightkit to Brokenkit due to this. She wasn't cruel to him despite that and he grew up to be a strong warrior for many moons. He wasn't always the old grouch he is today, he was actually pretty nice as a warrior. He became the old grouch he is today because he had to stop being a warrior before he wanted due to his joints.]

{Palepaw} Palepaw was crouching down and trying to swat at an invisible opponent. She quickly rolled out of the way of the invisible paws swiping at her and jumped onto her back paws, swinging her paws madly. She dropped down to all fours triumphantly, purring loudly as she defeated the imaginary cat. Once she was done, she went looking for her mentor wondering what they would be doing today.
{Poppyshine}
The she-cat was sitting not too far off from Palepaw, watching her kit with mild amusement. She was cleaning her pelt, trying to get any dirt free from the fur but it seemed to cling to it. She sighed and gave up her efforts, looking around for her other kit. He must in the medicine cat's den training. She was about to go and get him when she stopped herself, reminding herself she was now a warrior and they were apprentices, they can handle themselves.

Moonwing blinked fondly at Palepaw and padded over to the wandering apprentice. "Good morning! Are you ready for today?" Moonwing briefly thought about whether they should train or hunt, but realized that hunting was more of a priority. Since it was now new-leaf, the prey should be easier to find anyway and hunting was an extremely valuable skill. Flicking her eyes to the red, swollen sun in the sky, she was reminded that even though it was only new-leaf, she should mention to Copperstar or one the scouts to be on top of fire prevention. Shaking her head, she looked back at Palepaw and mewed, "We're going to be hunting in the forest today. We can work on your crouch and on the way back grab some moss for nests." She hoped it didn't sound too boring, but plucking feathers for nests was tedious and moss was more comfortable anyway, even if it was a bit harder to find. "We can go right now if you're ready," she then meowed. -- Copperstar crawled out of her den and stretched, sensing the change in season. The sun dappled through the large tree and landed on the reddish-brown earth in a way that was almost beautiful. She yawned, and noticing Poppyshine, wandered over and sat next to the warrior. Looking over at her, she mewed, "Good morning." She was unsure whether or not to mention the she-cats wandering gaze over her kits, but decided to just add on to her comment, saying, "Would you be willing to do the dawn patrol or go hunting with me?" She thought about it internally, and then nodded to herself. The scouts had been reporting no rogue activity recently, so just two cats on a patrol should be fine. She rasped a tongue over her wild fur and barely made a dent in grooming it. I don't know how some cats keep their pelts so clean, she thought to herself.

{Palepaw}
Palepaw sighed, her ears flattening. "Okay, Moonwing" She tried to sound excited, knowing that her clan would need the food and the nesting material but she still found herself a bit upset at the thought of practicing something she knew she wouldn't be very good at. Palepaw's mood quickly changed as she changed the subject though "Did you see me practicing my fighting? I'm going to be the best fighter this clan has had!" She puffed out her chest and what little fur she had in an attempt to make herself seem bigger, failing miserably. {Poppyshine} The she-cat snapped her attention to the leader, not hearing her approach while she was lost in thought. "Oh sure, maybe we can go on a patrol? I feel like it's been moons since I've been on one." She flicked her ear, subtly trying to listen to Palepaw's conversation. "Where do you think we should start?" She asked, watching as the leader struggled to clean her pelt. Poppyshine felt a little bit better about her own, it wasn't as long as the leader's and only seemed to collect any dirt she ran into. She was about to offer to try and help the leader when she stopped herself, wondering if that'd come off a bit weird but it was just her motherly instincts kicking in at that moment.

Moonwing purred in amusement. "You'd certainly scare me! That jump was pretty impressive as well. If you don't think you'll be too tired, we can train a little bit I suppose." She didn't like overly strict mentors and felt a sense of resentment towards Riversong - she had always been quick to judge and didn't listen to anything Moonwing said. However, as she looked over at the elder's den, she felt bad. It was unfair to be angry at someone for their personality, she reasoned silently, and turned her attention back to Palepaw. Thinking about it more, she then meowed, "Okay, what about this: We train and practice a couple moves, and then we hunt for prey and moss." She thought that might be fair, and when she pricked her ears up to eavesdrop on Copperstar and Poppyshine, they seemed to be going on a patrol. "However, we'd probably have to stay out longer," she realized out loud. -- Copperstar tipped her head, and then mewed, "I think we should go along the left and mark to the boneyard. I don't think anyone's been over there in a bit." She turned her head to look at her back and realized how unkempt her fur really was. Her face got warm with embarrassment. "Sorry about my fur if it's bothering you," she started, seeing how Poppyshine seemed to be trying to help her but withholding herself. "I try to get it back to normal every once in a while but I think it'll stay matted and knotted until I join StarClan." She purred in amusement at herself and then stood up. Eyeing the medium-sized prey pile, she made a mental note to go out later and try to catch something later. "Are we ready?" she asked.

{Palepaw}
She purred at her mentor's praise, lifting her chin up a bit higher. When she heard the sound of battle practice she quickly started bouncing around her mentor, ready to head out now. "Yes! I can't wait! I'm never too tired for that!" She stopped her bouncing right in front of Moonwing, now itching to race to out of the camp. "Can we go now? Like right now?" She pleaded, shifting her paws back and forth as though staying still would absolutely kill her. "How long do you think we will be out? All day?" She didn't seem upset, actually quite the opposite, as though being out of camp all day would be the best thing to ever happen. {Poppyshine} Poppyshine felt her face grow hot at the leader's comment, she didn't mean to embarrass her! "I'm sorry, Copperstar, it's just one of things of mine. I like to help, but yes I am ready now" The she-cat got up from where she sitting, mentally beating herself up for being so obvious. She glanced over to Palepaw for a moment, noting she seemed well before walking to the exit of camp rather briskly. "The Boneyard, correct? Let's head out then!" She called over her shoulder to the leader, trying to put a bit space between them as though that'd ease the awkward feeling inside her now.

Moonwing blinked in surprise at the apprentice's eagerness, but felt proud all the same. "Well, it's still close to leaf-bare so it won't be too hot," she thought out loud. "So I guess we can stay out as long as you're ready for." She wondered if Poppyshine would be alright with that, knowing how motherly the warrior was, but decided that Palepaw knew her own limits. However, Moonwing added, "If you think you might be getting tired, we'll have to go back to camp just in case. I don't want to have to drag you all the way from the forest." She twitched her whiskers in laughter and turned. Cocking her head to the side, she beckoned Palepaw to follow as she began to make her way out of camp. Once she was past the bramble barrier, she felt the smooth, sandy soil under her paws and felt relieved that she left camp. Sometimes she forgot how much she enjoyed wandering the barren territory, and she hoped that Palepaw would grow to love the short grass and endless view in front of the lake. -- Copperstar flicked her ears in subtle laughter and stood up, feeling the first creaks of age in her joints. Despite her six remaining lives, she was always worried she would lose them from old age, rather than battles or hunger. I should really start to appreciate the scouts more, they've saved my Clan and I from more grief than I would've ever imagined, she thought to herself as she tried to close the gap between her and Poppyshine. "I didn't mean any offence, if you thought that," she mewed, finally catching up to the warrior. "I really should try a little harder, but it's not something I usually think about." She wondered if that was the right thing to say; it might have been a little too snobby and important sounding, and she felt flustered. Despite her age, she was still not the greatest diplomat. "Not saying that it's not important, I just..." She trailed off and shook her head, and then purred in laughter at herself. "We can drop this subject if you want - oh, here's our first landmark," she then mewed, and sprayed the small tree along the border. The scent had been faint before and she was glad that at least it was getting patrolled again.
[do you want to find anything on the border or just have them chat? i'm open to anything if you just want to roleplay something into your response]

The young apprentice puffed out her chest once again, now taking what she said as a challenge "I won't get tired! I promise!" She mewed, followed her mentor out of camp. When she felt the sand hit beneath her paws she had began to pick up pace, making sure her mentor was right behind her though. "I can't wait till we get there and start practicing! I'm thinking about showing Rowanpaw my moves, do you think he'd like that?" She idly chatted, not taking in much of the scenery around her as she spoke. "He always says he has no need for battle moves but I always tell him that it's better to be prepared than sorry, you know?" She turned her head to Moonwing, almost tripping over her own paws from loss of focus. She caught herself last moment then went right back into chatting away "Do you think Medicine cats should know battle moves?" {Poppyshine} The warrior followed suit in marking the border, sniffing around for any signs of any cats around. She paused for a moment before shaking her head and turning to Copperstar, deciding she should probably clear the air about earlier. "You're fur is fine, I can only imagine how hard it is groom. It's just one of those motherly things and it's a bit embarrassing." She felt herself growing a bit flustered as she tried to explain but it was difficult for her to. "I've always felt that way and it's just got a bit stronger, it's nothing personal. I'd be the same way with any other cat. Should we continue along the border?" She asked, ready to let Copperstar take the lead now. {Ahhh I'm sorry, I can see there's rouges, is that it? Because we can find something if you want! I was going to roleplay it in but I was unsure what to find}

"Well," Moonwing started uncertainly, "I don't think it would be a bad idea. If there were foxes or dogs or something, everyone should try to help the Clan. Plus, it would probably be good for self defense." She shivered, thinking of someone trying to attack a medicine cat, and shook her head to continue jogging forward. "But they also shouldn't have fighting as their priority. So maybe they should just learn defensive moves." Moonwing wondered if that was the answer the young cat wanted, but she also wondered if the two cats had realized how different their paths were. She stifled a sigh and trotted forward to take the lead, and began to veer to the right after she was almost at the lake. The only thing wrong with the beautiful lake and mountains was that they made traveling anywhere take a bit longer. After long moments of silence, they ended at the treeline, and the forest awaited them."We're going to be practicing moves over here and not in the forest, because the trees can get in the way and we're aiming for accuracy." Moonwing then crouched down to the floor and eyed Palepaw warily, and using her tail flicked a stick behind her. "Try to get around me and grab the stick." -- (here I added rouges, if you want we can do something else ( : ) Copperstar nodded, walking forwards just fast enough to keep a lead. Something in the air was almost sour and unhealthy-smelling, and Copperstar couldn't place the smell. After marking another small bush and waiting for Poppyshine to do the same, she felt ants crawling in her pelt and bgean to be very wary. "Poppyshine, do you smell anything strange? Like crowfood, almost?" Without waiting for a response, she saw the source quite a far way from the small patrol -- two thin, wild-eyed cats trying to crawl their way over the border. They were staring at the two cats with borderline hunger in their eyes, and Copperstar felt unsure about what to do. Should they fight them off? Give them something to eat? She cleared her throat and meowed, "I'm afraid you'll have to leave this area. This territory belongs to BlazeClan." The two cats continued to stare, and their eyes were unnerving. They seemed to be borderline bulging out of their heads and Copperstar almost felt pity for them. However, they didn't move. She turned to Poppyshine. "Well, it looks like we'll have some fighting to do. Are you ready?" She wasn't worried about wasting time on her breath; the cats seemed almost stationary which creeped her out the most.

{Palepaw}
She narrowed her eyes into slits, focusing on the stick behind her. I have to be quick and sudden. She thought to herself, she tried to think of ways around her but couldn't see an obvious answer. She straightened herself up, preparing to just full on sprint beside the warrior but she felt that wouldn't get anywhere. Either way, she took her chances and charged full run to the stick. She pressed herself against Moonwing's side in a weak attempt to knock her sideways. {Poppyshine} Her eyes flashed to the rogues and she gave Copperstar a wary look. She stepped beside her but didn't speak, thinking silence was her best option in this case. She took note of how thin they were and struggled with an internal battle of offering help, she knew they could possibly be dangerous but they also looked rather weak in the state they were in. She fluffed out her chest, trying to intimidate them just in case they did try and attack them she would look bigger than she was. "Do you think they're dangerous?" She lifted her head to Copperstar's ear so she could whisper it, she didn't want to risk them hearing her despite the fair distance between the four cats.

[oops, sorry for the late reply : /] Moonwing felt Palepaw press against her side, and she quickly pushed her harder. Palepaw stumbled to the side with a few pawsteps, and Moonwing blinked. "That was a great first attempt. Your speed was good, but you have legs, correct?" She twitched her whiskers in amusement and continued. "You could've tried to jump on me, and then jumped off again to land on the stick side, although that is a little advanced." She tilted her head to think, and then mewed, "I recommend trying to trick me and then sprinting for now. Look one way and place your paws there, but then jump in the other direction. That would be good for pretty much any enemy." Moonwing wasn't exactly sure how much she should push the young apprentice, but figured basic tricking skills were useful to everyone. After she gets past me, we can practice the hunter's crouch and some modifications to make it better for battle, she thought. She then lowered herself to the ground again. "Try again. You don't have to trick me if you come up with something clever, but it's a good thing to know." -- Copperstar held her breath, and let it out as she shrugged. "I guess I don't really know," she admitted in a low tone. "They don't look friendly, though. Just kind of creepy." She padded forward slowly, to which the cats continued to keep the gaze on her without fear. However, the leftmost cat seemed to shaking, and it opened it's mouth to let out a raspy, croaking voice. "Please... water," it said. Copperstar couldn't tell what gender either of the cats would be; their reek, thinness, and voice didn't give anything away. She shuffled her paws, unsure if she should fight them after all. If I chased them off, we wouldn't have to worry about them trying to attack us once they get water, if that's even all they want. But they might have a family, seeking somewhere to go. And if I sent a cat away to die, what kind of leader would I be? Why can't everything be black and white sometimes? Copperstar felt old for the second time that morning as she stifled a sigh. She looked back at Poppyshine for any sort of advice, but was scared of whatever the answer would be so turned around again. "I suppose we can escort you to the lake," she said stiffly, the words hard to force as with any decision she made.

{You're fine, don't worry!} {Palepaw}
Palepaw huffed, rolling over and getting back onto her paws. She padded back to her spot and looked over what else she could do, she really wanted to surprise her mentor with something she hadn't said but the she-cat couldn't think of anything beyond that. She thought about trying the first thing she mentioned, knowing she might just fail. She crouched down low and jumped up, her long legs being her advantage, but her back paws landed wrong and she kicked her mentor in the back of the head as she jumped off. She spun around, nervously running to her mentor. "I am so sorry, Moonwing!" She cried out, trying to see if she actually hurt the she-cat or just barely kicked her. "I should have tried that second move but I thought with my longer legs I might be able to jump higher and pull of the move but-" She stopped herself, for once she knew talking too much wouldn't help in this situation. {Poppyshine} Poppyshine felt a weight lift off her shoulders when her leader said they would escort them off to the lake. She knew she would fight these cats for the clan but she would have a hard time doing it, they looked harmless enough to her. She rested her tail over the leader's shoulder in way of comfort, trying to silently tell her she knew it was hard decision but she agreed with it. She decided to break the distance and made her way fully over to the cats, stepping beside it and crouching down to its level. "Come on, then, little ones. Let's go" She was about to try and nudge them up when she stopped herself, realizing they could very well become scared and attack her. She watched as one of them slowly got up and began to walk. "I'll follow behind them, Copperstar." The dark ginger she-cat mewed, getting up off her paws. That way they can't surprise attack us. She felt like it was a nice option for them and lightly purred to herself.

Moonwing was flustered, only feeling the breath be knocked out of her nose before she realized what happened. When she heard Palepaw apologizing, she figured out what happened and purred. "It's fine, really. Your claws didn't catch me anywhere so I'm alright. And I'm not going to punish you for landing correctly; in a fight, that would be perfect!" She lightly smacked the apprentice's ear with her tail. "You're made to be a fighter, but you still have to know how to hunt. Since you got past me, we can start learning about the hunter's crouch." She sensed slight disappointment coming from Palepaw, so she then added, "We're going to practice the real deal and then some ways to make it into a more fighting-type of move." She hoped she would like practicing hunting if it meant she would also be learning to fight, so she crouched down neatly with her tail barely above the ground and her paws close to her body. After she was crouched, she inched forward, lightly pulling her paws forward one by one in an agonizingly slow pace. When she moved a mouse-length, she popped up again. "Now you try!" -- Copperstar nodded and began to wander in the opposite direction, feeling like ants were crawling in her pelts because of the eyes watching her. I am really being stared down, she thought incredulously. By two cats that have said two words between them. It made her feel uneasy, and she glanced back often just two see the cats doing nothing overly suspicious and Poppyshine in the back of the small group. The lake was now about three fox-lengths away, but she was almost unsure if they would make it there at all. However they all made it with silence alone. The rogues stumbled over their own paws as they rushed into the water, and the sound of lapping filled the air. Copperstar stepped back to stand next to Poppyshine. "Well, I guess you might have been right," she admitted. "Although they might not even have the strength to fight us even if they wanted to." As she kept looking at them, she realized that it was probably true: their pelts were dull, bones stuck out, and their fur was so thin she could see their pink, sunburned skin. She shivered, realizing how bad survivors had it sometimes. At least I have a Clan with me. We'll never end up like that, and maybe these two would be willing to join after we saved their lives.
[an idea: make these two cats npc's that can be used for filling patrols lol, you can rp them leaving if you want though]

{Palepaw}
Palepaw crouched down and copied her, the first second was perfect. The next few she spent falling on her face because she was trying to race forward. She quickly got up and rubbed her nose with her paw, wiping the dirt off her face. "Hmph, I'll try again but it's hard to not be quick. Can't I just chase the prey?" She asked, knowing the answer was going to be no but hoping for a different outcome. "I just don't like being slow." She sighed, crouching back down and moving forward paw step after paw step slowly but her tail was lashing now as though some part of her had to be moving quickly at all times. {Poppyshine} The warrior purred at her leader's words and then turned her attention to the cats before them, wondering how long it had been since they had a decent meal. "Copperstar, do you think we could ask them to join us?" One of the cats lifted it's head for a moment to stare at them when she said that. Poppyshine's ears flattened against the back of her head in embarrassment and she began to whisper. "They might be good for us, I know it's another set of mouths to feed but it's also more cats to help around the camp. All we'd need to do is set them up properly, I can help get them back to health. They'd be my responsibility, I promise I won't let them out of my eyesight!" She begged the leader now, as though she was a kit asking to be let out of the nursery.
{If I wanted to add another cat to my four could I just post it in the joining? I was going to add another tom to our camp. I'd rather use these two as NPC's as you said haha}

Moonwing put her paw on the apprentices tail to keep it from swinging wildly back and forth. "If the land was more open, we could rely on speed," she mewed. "But with all the undergrowth and ferns, if you move fast you might get caught in something or make a racket so that there's no prey left." She tried to think of anything to help Palepaw out, but she was drawing a blank on how to help the apprentice move slower. "What if you don't focus on the speed, but just focus on making your crawling motion as smooth as possible?" She wondered if that would slow the apprentice down and sat up to watch again. -- Copperstar flicked her ears at the cats, and they turned their head back to the water, seeming flustered. She scuffed her paws in the sandy grass and tried to reason with herself. They're definitely too weak to do any damage, and I doubt they came with others. And it is the beginning of new-leaf, so there's plenty of time for them to learn to hunt before the next leaf-bare... She turned back to Poppyshine and dipped her head. "Very well, you may take care of them. But only if they agree." She almost wanted to add a and if they talk, but realized that these cats might be mute, or close to it, for all she knew. "You can take one as an apprentice as well, if you and them want to." The cats left the bank just as Copperstar finished speaking and glanced at both Copperstar and Poppyshine.
[yep! i tried to keep it vague about what they look like so go crazy haha. you can take both or we can each have one! :] ]

{Palepaw}
Palepaw frowned, trying to figure out how she could possibly do this. She wanted to be the best and make her mentor proud, but when she was slow she felt a gnawing at her paws, as though energy was building up for her. I can keep myself still for a bit she thought, finally creeping forward at an agonizing steady pace. She focused on her tail too, making sure it stuck out behind her still as she could make it but the tip was still flicking back and forth. {Poppyshine} Poppyshine wondered if it would be her to ask them, Copperstar did say they could so she took the initiative. "We were wondering, if you guys would like to join our clan? You would join as apprentices and would have to follow our code but it has to be better than walking out here in the heat searching for sources of food and water." She gave the tortoiseshell leader a wary glance, hoping she was saying everything correctly. The light brown tom of the group looked between the two, contemplating their offer for a moment. "I-I" he was stammering, obviously a bit scared still and Poppyshine gave him an encouraging nod. "I suppose we would be up for it" He finally got the words out, turning to his companion.
{I can take one, let me type something up for him on the joining page (: }
