"when we still had the power to say no"
Alrighty gamers, this is a story i wrote 4 years ago, I only had a few chapters, and It's about a loner band named
"The Pack" They live in this massive hollow area in a cliff/plateau. So a meteor fell there but the cats have like no idea except that something from the sky created it..
So they believe in something called Sky's Grace, because it make their home, and its a safe haven for loners
you can only access it through one cracked shaped entrance, lined with bioluminescent ore, from the meteorite.
Some things will be written, some short chapters merged together, but most of this
is what edgy lil Aleck wrote. Enjoy!

Chapter One
The moon was steadily rising into the sky when a white tom with a black muzzle leapt on a smooth boulder his chest puffed out.. He let out a long call and cats gathered at the foot of the boulder, the stars twinkled brightly as the moon shone in the camp casting it in a silver glow. “Cats of The Pack I bring forth an announcement!” The tom said in a clear voice that rang out throughout the camp. There were murmurs of excitement. “Two of our kits shall begin their journey, to prove themselves as adults ! Jay and Spider step forward!” He commanded, staring down proudly at them.
The two kits bounded forward. The dusty brown one had tripped and stumbled causing the silver blue one to run into him.
“Careful Spider!” the she-kit hissed.
“Sorry Jay!” a few chuckles were heard throughout the small clearing. The kits got back to their feet they sat hurriedly on the smaller boulder where the moonlight was just about to cover in a soft glow. There was white moss on the boulder and it shone in the moonlight.
“Jay are you willing to train to protect The Pack through any means?” The tom asked
“Yes, Sage!” Jay replied.
“Then with the power bestowed to me by my ancestors and their ancestors and Sky Grace above, I, Sage, Leader of The Pack I hereby bestow you the title of trainee! And Until you receive your adult title you shall have the title Jay in Training!” The cats shouted her name and soon all cats were saying Jay’s name. “Wind may you step forward?” a pale sandy she-cat stepped forward. “Will you teach this apprentice all your perseverance and skill?” Wind replied with a smooth meow
“Yes Sage”
“Wait!” a meow sounded as a white tom with cream paws pushed his way forward.
“I cannot allow that to happen”
Sage let a hiss out
“What have you to say, Blaze?” Blaze walked up and shoved Wind Aside forcefully.
“Don’t you think Our little sister deserves someone more experience?” Wind flinched at the insult.
“And who do you think should be Her mentor brother?” Sage hissed and glared down at his brother his ears flat too his head
“I think Ice should mentor her!” The other cats gasped as he turned to the cats.
“A new Adult warrior should not train our apprentices! We need experienced cats!” He preaches, cats murmured, “What have they to teach if they know not of their role?”
“Enough! Cats can not get experience if they don't’ have opportunities! Have a little faith!” Sage growled.
“Faith? I need nothing of that. You listen not to what I say, but to those with misguided ideals! Do you trust them more than your own blood?”
“Blood of the coven is thicker than the water of the womb that bonds us Blaze.” Sage snarled, tail lashing.
Suddenly Blaze, eyes wide, leapt onto his brother and they rolled into the centre of the clearing. Sage raked his claws across his brother’s side but only striking fur as he was flung off. Blaze countered him, biting his leg giving a deep wound to his foreleg. Sage flung him off and scratched his flank. Blaze bit his ear as the two snarling cats broke apart, panting. Sage snarled at the other
“Enough stop this, you have broken a sacred important rule by interrupting this ceremony, Back down now and the punishment will not be extreme.”
Sage said forcing his voice to be smooth and cool but it broke a little.
“No brother, you are merely a coward, you dare not face the truth. If you hate the truth so much, why dont you fight it?”
Blaze snarled back.
“Only fools bother to fight a fight they can't win, Back. Down.” Sage growled, tail waving slowly, but he was boiling with anger.
“No!” Blaze snarled and lunged for his brother causing many of the watching cats flinched. Sage leapt backwards with ease, mastering the skill when he himself was an apprentice, with his brother...
“Come on Dash!” A large white and cream adolescent tom meowed
“Hey wait up Bramble!” said the white tom with a black muzzle. They tumbled and rolled laughing. A slash across his cheek snapped back into reality. The wound was deep and was sure to scar.
He flinched and his vision blurred from the pain. Soon his vision cleared and he saw the blood dripping from the wound. He shook his head blood splattering, the glimpse of the playful scene fading.
“That is enough! I’ve given you plenty of warnings! You must suffer a harsh punishment!” Cats gasped and murmured fearfully.
“Exile.” Sage meowed the one word. He never had to exile any cats before it's even worse that he had to exile his own brother…. He’s changed. Sage lept up on the boulder and yowled even though all the cats were already gathered. Retires grumbled and talked in low voices. Sage cleared his throat and wiped his cut with a licked paw. He was still bleeding on his leg and cheek.
“Cats of The Pack hear my words for I speak to you and our ancestors! A cat has committed multiple treasons against you! This cat has interrupted an important ceremony, disobeyed a high rank and attack without reason! This cat is known to you as Blaze, but now he has no honour or right to his name! He is to be exiled. Any cat want to join him?” Sage let the cats murmur quietly but no one moved forward. He pushed down the sense of pride for his pack.
‘They are loyal to me. That’s good..’ Sage knew he shouldn't feel pride since this was the banishment of his own brother, Blaze. He saw Spider and Jay huddled in the bushes their eyes wide. He looks away before continuing.
“Alright. Then by the power of me and my ancestor and their ancestors before them I hereby exile Blaze from the pack! If spotted on our territory he must be chased off or… or killed.” Sage flattened both sets of ears as the horrible picture of Blaze’s dead body filled his thoughts. He shook his head and spoke again. “Of course you may not leave unsathce, yo criminal.” Blaze was jumped by two cas, Air and Newt, and the large tom struggled. Another cat came in and slammed their paws into his head, shoving his face into the dusty dirt.
Sage himself hopped down and approaches him, Blaze was on his side, left flank exposed. Sage readied his curved claws, the moonlight shining through them, lighting them a pale translucent color. He placed them on his flank and raked them down slowly, cutting deep. He did this many times. Blaze never cried out in pain, but he was breathing raggedly. His hind leg and flank, covered in jagged cuts staining his snow white fur, His eyes contained an unspeakable pain, it hit somewhere in Sage but he dared not identify it. His paws now stained with the blood of his own brother’s blood. He stared before pressing his paw on the cuts.
“Know that you created this, Traitor, this pain is your own.” The cats released him and stood back. Blaze, bleeding and heaving on the ground, stared long into Sage’s clear milky blue ones. His eyes read, you know better than to believe that, But Sage turned his back to his brother, not wanting to see Blaze struggle as he heard him heave himself up, a stalk, half limping towards the large crack shaped exit of the camp.
Two kits, Chickadee and Pine watched, and a Brown tabby she-cat, Miley, also observed. She turned from the scarring shielding her kids and crying into their pelts. Sage felt pain for the queen for Blaze had been a loving mate and father to his kits and mate. He padded over to the queen and rested his tail on her shoulder. “You may leave with him if you want. It wouldn't mean a thing.”
“No cat like that should be near my children.” and with that Miley got up and padded into a den woven of reeds and hickory twigs. Sage got up and padded into his den and curled up in the heather sprigs and moss, wounds now clotted in his fur. And sighed and drifted into a troubled sleep.
CHAPTER TWO
Sage awoke to commotion outside. He peered out to see three rogues standing into the entrance of the camp. Several of the cats were brisling while others acted like nothing was new. Sage gave himself a quick wash before paddling out. He confronted the rouge and meowed, “And whom might you be?”
“We have come to join your pack, We believe you can give us a better life.” meowed the sandy tom. The tom had broad shoulders and large paws.
“Yes, for the cold season is coming and we fear we may not make it this season” a small lithe pale grey she-cat meowed. She had grey eyes flecked with amber.
“Will you accept us? We can hunt for the pack and won’t weigh you down” the smallest tom meowed, no bigger than a trainee.
“And what are your names?” Sage meowed as he considered these details.
“I am Reed” the sandy tom meowed
“My name is Willow and my little brother’s name is-” said the pale grey she-cat before being cut off.
“-And my name is Jackal!” The small silver and black tom interrupted.
Sage thought this over, on one paw new cats would mean more mouths to feed, but on the other, they would cover the loss of his brother and be wonderful additions to the pack. Sage finally decided and answered with:
“Yes you may join us, would you like to keep your names or change them?”
The cats huddled together before the Reed answered “We will keep our names for we feel they fit us well, I can swim, Willow is an expert climber, and Jackal can leap high enough to probably to fish a bird out of air!
“Probably?” Sage echoed as he thought this over. “It is customary for a kit to become a trainee at 7 moons. That is where they earn their name. I will send Jackal through training and if by then he can fish birds out of air he may still be named Jackal. Unless that is if he chooses to change his name, as our cats always have a choice.” He explained sternly. He could see the other two whispered and trying to keep an anxious Jackal away.
“Very well, Jackal will train,” Willow answered. Sage nodded
“Thank you for being flexible and making such changes, Soot come over here” he called over a grey tabby tom over. His muzzle was ever so slightly flecked with grey. The tom was a senior fighter of The Pack and had been there many moons. “Can you help them make a nest? And possibly show them around?” Sage asked the warrior. Soot flicked an ear before meowing quietly
“Of course Sage, With me Willow and Reed,” the warrior flicked his tail to signal them to follow and headed to a seeming wall, before pushing in and disappearing. Sage turned to Jackal
“I'm sure one of our trainees will help you, let's see…” he glanced around before signalling with his tail to a tortoiseshell she-cat who was licking a paw and running it over her head. “Hey, Turtl- Suddenly Nettle burst out of a den.
“What’s wrong Nettle?” Sage asked concerned.
Chapter 3
“Seed is kitting!” said Nettle, a young light tabby brown warrior, screeched. Immediately Lavender got up. Sage admired the grey she-cat with purple eyes. Sage had accepted her when she had been cast out from her family when she was a mere kit, being blamed for having unusual eyes. Sage welcomed her with open paws saying her purple eyes are what made her special and she was no different from the rest of them. Lavender had taken it upon herself to help heal and help the cats of this pack. Sage was glad for her generosity. Sage followed but stopped when Lavender waved her tail at him.
“Please stay behind, for now, I'll announce when we can have visitors”
Sage nodded and turned around and started for two warriors standing together. “Fern, Silk how about you take your trainees and go hunt, everyone is pretty hyped up from all these recent events” They nodded and headed for another den. Also in The Wall, as it was called. At this Sage headed for his den, with nothing more to do. Curling up in the soft moss he thought to himself. Nothing much just random thoughts about The Pack and hunting.
He didn’t realize he fell asleep until he felt rays of sunlight hit his face. He blinked open his eyes and lifted himself out of the cosy nest. He shook himself off and padded slowly out the den. Sage remembered the kits and picked up his pace towards Lavender. He opened his mouth to speak but Lavender cut him off
“The kits are fine”
“Good” Sage responded feeling relieved. “Can I see them?” he asked Lavender though for a while
“I’ll ask Seed,” She said getting up. She padded to the warm nursery. She disappeared into the den before reappearing a few moments later. She waved her tail for Sage to follow her into the nursery.
Inside the cosy den laid their mewling kits wiggling about. Sage grinned and sniffed one of the kits. “‘I’m sure Nettle is proud of his kits” Seed gave a nodded. She licked one of the kits affectionately. “Have you named them?” he asked looking at the three new kits, they were going to be strong warriors for sure. Seed smiled
“Yes,” she laid her tail on one, “The black one with white paws name is Falcon, He is a tom,” she said giving him a nuzzle. “And this one, a grey tabby she cat’s name is Butterfly,” she said also nuzzling this one. Then she moved to the third kit. “And this Tortoiseshell beauty is Lizard,” she said also nuzzling the kit. She let out a defending mewl of protest.
“She will be a tough warrior when she’s older,” Sage said approvingly “These are wonderful names, I can't wait to see how they grow,” he said giving an in a friendly way nuzzle to Seed. She returned the nuzzle. Her eyes were tired as she rested her head down. “I’ll leave you to rest,” he said before exiting the den.
“Have you ever thought of having any kits of your own?” Lavender asked Sage. Sage had thought about this before but he didn't have a mate. He never took much interest in any of the she-cats in The Pack
“I’ve thought about it,” he said, “But I’ve never been interested in any cat” he continued.
“Oh,” Lavender said thoughtfully. She started off wistfully for a moment before turning to leave. “Well I'm leaving to replace the herbs I used,” she said and departed. Sage shook his fur and decided to check on Jackal, make sure he settled in.
