Leafclan is a bordering clan to Crowclan, led by Voidastral .
Leafclan is based in the forest beside Crowclan. Their territory is mostly vast forest space, with one large lake in the northernmost part of it, which empties out to a large river that narrows out until it becomes the Creek that runs through Crowclan. Due to occasional flooding, the lake is more of a challenge than a useful part of their territory. On the other side of the lake is a bear's den, though no cat has seen the bear and lived to talk about it.
The camp is a large clearing made by twolegs (abandoned lot that was never built on), with one large, hollow tree that's snapped in the middle standing in the center. This is the leaders den, the top of the broken half of the tree being where the leader makes announcements. The rest of the dens are bramble branch dens formed and maintained by apprentices and warriors of the clan. They make a circle around the clearing, all backed by trees. The rest of the tree-less clearing is the camp.
Instead of Starclan, they have Bright Forest. Because the motif of 'forest' is so important to them, there would be no way they would call the Dark Forest that name, so they call it Night Lake. Bright Forest cats appear in dreams as cats formed out of bright, star like leaves. Night Lake cats appear watery, dark, and always soaking wet.
These realms exist next to Crowclan's Sun and Shadowfields, with Bright Forest existing next to Sunfield and Night Lake being a lake in the middle of Shadowfield. For Leafclan cats, the Guider of Souls helps navigate the realms and guide cats where they are meant to be.
The role of medicine cat is split into two roles, called the Guiders. The Guider of Leaves is the cat who takes care of medical aspect of being a medicine cat, who heals and finds herbs for the clan. There can be up to two Guider of Leaves apprentices, if the clan sees the need for more healers. There cannot be more than two Guider of Leaves at a time, however, meaning the second apprentice will not receive their name until one Guider dies or retires. The Guider of Souls is the spiritual cat of the clan, who is in charge of interpreting signs from the Bright Forest and for personally overseeing each of their deceased classmate's souls pass on, either into the Bright Forest or the Night Lake. This occurs after the Guider of Souls has properly prepared the body for the vigil, and while the clan grieves in silence, the Guider attends the ceremony.
History (Maybe)- Leafclan was founded by a kittypet named Tweety, who used to take long strolls on the afternoons she wasn’t locked inside. One fateful day she met Gravel, a rogue who’d traveled all the way from the city to start a new life in the forest. After falling in love, the two ran away to the nearby barn, attempting to make a life there. Finding the farmer too lively and persistent, they were chased out into the forest. Gravel was then given a dream by the cats of his past, that he and Tweety should make this forest their home, and start a clan of cats here, so that no cat, no matter how old or how weak, would have food in their bellies and a warm place to sleep. Because of his connection to the Bright Forest, Gravel became the first ever Guider of Leaves, while Tweety led their new clan to a lasting peace.
Because of the clan's deep ties to the leaves of their forest, the leader of the clan will take the suffix -leaf. The clan is relatively new, having been founded shortly before Crowclan.
Also, because the clan has yet to discover a reason not to, the Guider of Leaves may have a mate/kits. The Guider of Souls may not, for fear it may cloud judgement on how and where they guide their classmate's souls.
Other unique traditions:
-In order to receive their warrior name, apprentices must pass an arduous swimming test, to make sure that every warrior can swim. During this process, they must rescue a clanmate from the fast flowing river within their territory. This is to decrease the likelihood of drowning in the event of the lake flooding.
-The clan likes to have small celebrations every time the leaves change (first day of each season). Their biggest of these is the newleaf celebration, the Time of Trees, which marks the rebirth of their beloved forest.
-Because of the bordering clan name, the prefixes Crow, Leaf, Sun, and Lake are not allowed. Aware of what Crowclan calls Night Lake, the prefixes Shadow and Night are also not encouraged, unless the kit is incredibly disliked.
