Hi! You can ask questions here!

(Thank you!)
(Alright, so I'd like my character to be just a normal member of the harem unless she manages to climb the ranks, would that be noble lady? Additionally, would it be alright for her to be Han? It would work well with a backstory I'd like to use, but since they're supposed to be rare, I'm fine with her being one of the other two. I think those are the two questions I had right now, but I might come up with more when I get deeper into making my character.)

With the start of spring and the blossoming of the flowers, the Imperial Garden was the only place the Emperor preferred to be after Court. A soft gentle breeze filled the air as he stood, admiring various flowers and the general pleasant atmosphere of the season.
A few feet away at a stone table, Noble Lady Jing sat, watching the Emperor as she peeled an orange for him. She tilted her head a tiny bit as she watched, debating for a moment on whether or not she should speak up. Finally, she cleared her throat and spoke. " Your Majesty seems a bit lonely. Why don't you send Li Wei to invite Noble Lady Qiao to join you? I'm sure she'd make excellent company."
The Emperor turned, pulling himself away from his thoughts. He nodded a bit, motioning for Li Wei to go and fetch Feiyan from her Yongshuo Palace. The eunuch gave a small nod before running off to summon the other woman.

Feiyan was startled slightly by her abrupt summoning, but years of instruction from her mother had taught her that declining to appear, or even appearing too slowly was not acceptable. She followed the eunuch back to the Imperial Garden with all the speed she could muster while still keeping up the air of grace expected of a Noble Lady.
Finally they arrived at the garden, and Noble Lady Qiao presented herself to the emperor, inclining her head in respect. She was slightly nervous, as there could be any number of reasons for her summoning. Most of them were good, of course, but she always worried that some word of an outburst from her, or pressure from advisers against some one of her previous social class, would lead to her being sent out.

Li Wei excused himself, bringing the other servants with him. Only a solitary maid was left, presenting fresh cups of tea on the table before leaving. Meirong stood, giving a smile and a small nod in the direction of the younger girl. " Sister Qiao is finally here." She took her handkerchief and turned to the Emperor, giving a courtesy. " Your Majesty, I'll take my leave." Giving one last glance towards Feiyan, she reached out and gave the other's hand a small squeeze, a token of good luck before she finally departed.
The Emperor smiled, reaching over and taking her hand in his. " Ah, Feiyan! I'm glad you're here. I've been waiting for you." He led her over to the table, sitting and popping an orange slice into his mouth. "Have you adjusted well to Yongshou Palace? Are the servants the Household Bureau assigned treating you well?"

Feiyan acknowledged the gesture of support with a small smile, then allowed herself to be lead to the table, taking her seat only after the Emperor had taken his. "I have, Your Majesty. There is nothing I have wished for they have not provided. Thank you for you kindness in providing for me, Your Majesty," she flattered, offering a bright smile in an attempt to strength her show at appreciation.
Her accommodations were better than she'd had at home, and the statement of the servants attempts to make her comfortable was truthful, but life in the palace was very different from the one she'd known, and required so much more restraint than she was used to. It was hard on her, and would most likely prove to be harder on her still, but she couldn't let that show to him. Instead, she did her best to appear relaxed, as relaxed as one could while still upholding the expectations made of a women visiting with the Emperor.

The Emperor nodded, handing Feiyan her cup of tea as he listened to her. He was glad to hear that she was settling in well. Since his ascension, he hadn't chosen many consorts, leaving the palace rather empty. Feiyan had married him just before his father had died, but he was rather embarrassed to say that he didn't know much about her. They hadn't exactly had much time to spend together, with funeral preparations and his coronation.
" Good, good. When you have time, I want you to visit Royal Mother." The Empress Dowager didn't really entertain consorts much, but the Emperor knew the importance of being filial. Those who did go to visit his mother often remained on her good side. "And you should be friends with Meirong if you can. "

Feiyan accepted the cup, taking a sip just as the Emperor suggested she visit his mother. It took most of her control to force herself to swallow without coughing, so it was with a shaky breath that she replied, "I would be most honored." She bowed her head slightly as she spoke, then looked up again as he continued. "Noble Lady Jing seems lovely, Your Majesty, and I am sure we will make great friends. It will be nice, to have someone like a sister again," she added, hoping that he would appreciate the sentiment, and not take her as being ungrateful. Then she took a moment, considering her next question carefully before she spoke. "Pardon me, if I speak out of turn, but how are you faring, Your Majesty? I do not believe that I could truly understand, but it must be... difficult, to bear so much loss, so consecutively."

The Emperor paused, popping another orange slice into his mouth and turning to look at the flowers. Its true, he spent most of the past few weeks trying to hold himself together. He was always very close to his father, and paired with the loss of his official wife, things had been difficult. "I'm... fine. Thank you for asking. " He looked at his hand, fiddling with the jade ring he kept on his thumb. " I plan on honoring Lady Niohuru with a posthumous title of Empress Xiaomingxian."

Feiyan drew back slightly at his silence, fear creeping up on her for a moment, though she relaxed again when he spoke without any anger in his voice. "That is very considerate, Your Majesty, and an honor I am sure she deserved. I would have liked to know her better, from how highly you always speak of her," Feiyan responded, letting her eyes fall to her lap in an attempt seem more remorseful of the late Lady Niohuru's death. She really had not known her, and had no reason to mourn except that the Emperor had clearly loved her, and showing no sign of sadness over her death was just bad form.

" Yingluo was... a kind and virtuous woman. I'm sure she would've been fond of you." He sighed, leaning over to take a sip of his tea. His wife had always been fair and kind to his consorts, or at least, that's what he had been told. Clearing his throat, he turned to face Feiyan again. " Enough of all this sad talk. Let's take a walk. The peony's have finally bloomed, and I've been looking for someone to accompany me in enjoying them."

Feiyan rose from her seat, nodding graciously and moving to stand a little nearer to him, waiting for him to take her arm or lead her onwards. "The garden is quite lovely this time of year. Though I am sure it is quite lovely every time of year." She smiled sweetly at him, then turned slightly to look at the flowers around them.

The Emperor smiled as he stood, hooking his arm through Feiyan's and leading her down the stone path. The Emperor loved the gardens, spending most of his free time there if he could. He had always enjoyed flowers, especially peonies. Indeed, he had even written a few poems mentioning his fondness for the king of flowers. " The garden is always loveliest in the spring, I think. All the flowers in bloom, it's a lovely scene. Orchids in the spring, lotus in the summer, chrysanthemum in the fall and plum blossoms in the winter."
( No problem!! I love buffy lol )

Feiyan smiled as they walked, taking in the variety of blooms around them, and the soft landscaping features that would lend the garden towards beauty even when most of the plants were dormant. "Oh, I've always loved plum blossoms. Such vibrant flowers, especially when most others have gone." The yard of her own home had had two plum trees, one so old and grand it reached all the way across the windows in her room, so she could look out and see the brilliant pink any time of the winter, a wonderful remind that not all hope was lost to the snow, and soon, the other flowers would return.

" The plum blossom is a noble flower! It doesn't compete for favor with others. You have admirable taste!" He smiled, reaching over to pluck a soft red flower from it's stem. Reaching over, he gently tucked the flower between a pair of Feiyan's hair ornaments, taking a step back to admire his handiwork. "It's not as bright as a plum blossom, but I think this flower suits you very well."

Feiyan smiled brightly, offering a slight curtsy to him. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I think it is quite lovely, even if it isn't a plum blossom." Feiyan had been nervous about this visit at first, but she had now almost relaxed completely. The Emperor was quite sweet, even if he wasn't really the type of person she'd have gone for, if she could have influenced her match. Of course, even with a say in the matter, her interests would have been out of the question, so some one she could talk almost comfortably with, and who might one day prove to be a friend, was better than her other options. "Am I wrong in assuming that the peonies are your favorite, Your Majesty?" She asked, stepping closer to him again.

He smiled. Feiyan was sweet, and bright. The Emperor was at ease in her presence. Some, he knew, would use their position to curry favor for themselves and for their families. Feiyan however, seemed much more interested in companionship, something the Emperor could admire. " Peonies are the king of all flowers. I've always been very fond of them. "

"They are very lovely, and quite strong compared to some blooms. I can't say that I see the beauty in a flower so delicate you can hardly breath near it," Feiyan said, her eyes travelling out further across the garden. There was some irony in her statement, considering that her own temperament was as fickle as the wind, when she wasn't doing everything she could to control it.

The Emperor chuckled a little reaching over to brush his fingers along the petals of a nearby flower. "Princess Jinghui's favorite flower is jasmine. She always complains that they blow away when she tries to touch them. I don't have the heart to tell her that jasmine is a temperamental flower." Jinghui herself was rather temperamental, but perhaps it was because he spoiled her far too much.
