( Okay! Thank you. I can roleplay with either of those - would you prefer any of my characters in particular? They're all new, so I'm super hype to try them out. )

It wasn't often that one was seen without the other, but today, Adrian sat alone in the infirmary. He sat cross-legged on one of the beds, barefoot and quietly humming an old lullaby to himself. Next to him sat a little tray. At first, it seemed that the contents were nothing more than droplets of blood - but on inspection, it turned out to be pieces of gravel. His knees and the palms of his hands were bleeding as he picked out the gravel, expression unwavering as he worked. Usually, Naomi would be doing this. Always Naomi. No-one else could touch him. But it seemed that today was different, because she had to talk to some Downworlder on her own, and he had to clean himself up so that he could give himself an iratze or two.
Adrian was bored with it, though. A restless energy lay under his skin, buzzing and encouraging him to find more fights. But, no, he had to sit in the infirmary and clean himself up, and then stay put until his parabatai came back to check on him.
He felt like a child in time-out, like he'd done something naughty. Adrian pulled his knees up to his chest as he began to pick gravel out of them. Though calming in its own methodical way, it still wasn't work he liked doing. His stele sat on the bedside table, waiting for the moment he finally rid his wounds of the dirt and gravel so that he could heal himself and be done with it. His elbow jolted the tray, a moment of uncharacteristic clumsiness, and he winced at the clatter of metal as it hit the hard ground. Now, blood and gravel scattered around the floor near his bed. Expression ever-unchanging, he slid off the bed and crouched down to begin cleaning up. At least no-one had been around. That would've been humiliating, even in front of Naomi.

Teagan slowly nodded her head and places her hand on her cheek. "Doesn't help that certain Shadowhunters wouldn't hesitate to kill a downworlder without a second thought." She had met a few unsavory Shadowhunters and hoped to never see them again. She was going to say more until she heard her order. Teagan rises to her feet and walks to the counter to fetch it. "Sorry for the wait." The Warlock said giving a small. Teagan takes her food and drink. "You're fine, thank you." She turns and walks back to Sienna.

- sorry the internet keeps going out so I had to switch to my phone, this is my third time typing this ;-: -
Adeline was just outside the infirmary heading to her room only a few doors down. It seemed an odd place to choose her room, though with Annabelle always getting into trouble she figured it was easier to sleep right down the hall from where the medical supplies were than have to walk halfway across the institute to find them. She heard the tray clatter from out in the hall, the sharp noise startling the half faerie girl. As she neared the doorway she hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should go in or not. Eventually Adeline’s curiosity got the best of her and she poked her head in, scanning the room before her unusually bright blue eyes focused on Adrian in the floor. “Are you alright?” Her voice was quiet as she neared him. She didn’t know him very well, although she didn’t really go around the institute socializing with everyone. Her timid nature caused her to shy away from most newcomers, afraid of what they might say if they know she’s part faerie. “Here, let me help you.” She crouched low to the ground and began picking up pieces of the fallen gravel, her fair hair brushing the floor lightly.

Madeleine Beaumont ~ On the streets, with Vincent (Nightwisher )
Madeleine had been wandering the streets for more than an hour now, simply walking with no destination in mind. She had no desire to stop for food, and she had no job to speak of that would reuqire her to move in this direction, and yet she found her boots sounding on the near-empty street anyway. Her footsteps almost seemed to echo in the eerie silence that came with the dark of night, as they usually did. It wasn't like she could just be out in the open like this in the middle of the day, after all, she'd burn to death within minutes.
Still, she was a hunter, and she kept her ears open for signs of other people, potential meals, or just someone she could mess with. Being more than a century old had its perks, but the boredom that came with her monotonous lifestyle wasn't one of them. I've been doing the same thing for decades, you'd think a girl would want to make a change at that point, she mused to herself with a light chuckle, but that wasn't really the case. She was comfortable where she was, and had no intentions of leaving anytime soon. Especially now that she had her own Clan to look after.
Madeleine paused when she noticed another person walking down the other side of the street as her, heading in the opposite direction. With a quick look, she made a few assessments; he was tall, and built like a truck, which meant he led an active lifestyle. She zeroed in on the dog tags hanging from his neck and the army-style boots he wore. A military man, then? Not exactly rare, but still, a welcome change from the people she usually saw. She made a move to cross the street, following at a distance more out of curiosity then anything. She wasn't exactly hungry, nor did she really need to feed tonight, but hey, it was boring at her apartment all by herself, and she could use a little excitement. Sienna Highfire ~ In the cafe, with Teagan (Hawkeyes258 )
Sienna stifled a wince at the blatant comments Teagan made; it wasn't like she could argue against something that was true, but it still stung to hear. She decided it would be wiser not to comment and potentially make a fool of herself, picking up her coffee cup but finding it empty. Well, this had been an interesting conversation. The tension between Downworlders and Nephilim was tangible in situations like these, and Sienna wasn't much of a fan, if she were to be honest. Still, it felt odd to end on such a sour note. She pushed herself to her feet as Teagan returned, picking up her empty coffee cup and the newspaper she'd been reading from. "Well, I should be heading back to the Institute before they start to wonder what kind of trouble I'm getting into," she told the werewolf girl. "It was... nice to meet you. I hope we can work together in the future." She offered her hand almost like a peace offering, hoping she hadn't made a bad name for her kind over the course of the conversation.

Lucky for Vincent, there were few people on the street tonight. Though that made him relax, in a sense, he was still alert. It was never a good idea to walk alone at night, and it was even less of a good idea since Shilo had told him the truth about the world. Despite that, Vincent knew that supernatural attacks were more rare than attacks by other humans, so he wasn't incredibly worried. Nonetheless, he didn't want to get mugged by a regular human either. So, with all of this running through his mind, it wasn't exactly a major surprise when he noticed the girl across the street change direction toward him. He kept his cool, didn't even show that he had noticed. The store was only another block away. He kept a steady pace, ignoring the itching feeling on the back of his neck that always happened when he felt nervous.
"Hey," Vincent greeted the store clerk with a charming smile as he entered, grabbing a hand basket and headed down the aisles. He grabbed the things that he needed, basic food items for a healthy diet, whiskey, just the essentials really. And headed back out of the store. He scanned the area around him, clearly looking for something, or anything, that could have been deemed a threat, before he started heading back up the street again, toward his apartment. Though, he was acutely aware of the possibility that he was still being followed by that woman from before.

Jason smirked, seeing that he was successful in bringing his friend to the ground. He saw Bash study him before running towards him, saw him raise his staff up to attack. Jason rotated his staff slightly to block, then noticed Sebastion shift his gaze, ever so slightly, and Jason knew that the attack was a feint. He spun around, lifting up his staff to intercept his Parabatai’s, resulting in a loud crack as both wooden staffs met each other. “Very good, you almost had me, be careful where to look though.” He stated before his weapon around quickly, aiming a fast blow towards Bash’s nether regions, stopping right before he would hit. “Also, be prepared for cheap shots.” He said, grinning as he stood up. They trained for awhile more with the staffs, each of them earning their fair share of bruises. “I think that’s enough training with these. Let’s work on our sword work.” He then grabbed his pair of seraph blades.

( Hello! )
He sensed rather than saw the other Shadowhunter, and he hoped that she'd move on. But movement told him that he was going to be joined, and his fingers sped up in trying to move the gravel. Adrian glanced up briefly when she came to kneel on the floor by him, as expressionless as ever. A metallic gaze flicked over her briefly before he looked down again, shaking his head.
"It is alright," he said, in the clipped, polite way of Fey. "It is just a minor problem, and I can clean it up alone."
Adrian had seen, from her unnatural eyes and ears, that she was likely the other half-Fae inhabitant of the Institute, but he did not bring this up. Naomi had told him about Adeline and suggested that he befriend her, but he wasn't interested in befriending someone through desperation to feel wanted. She seemed nice enough, he supposed, but he realised that this was the first time he had interacted with her.

Bash couldn’t help but give his parabatai a look as if he was offended and hurt that he would do such a thing, mostly just joking around but there was a little truth behind it. “Even I wouldn’t stoop so low.” He couldn’t let out a small chuckle as he took a moment to catch his breath, shaking his arms as if to loosen up his muscles for their next activity. His adrenaline was pumping now, giving him a burst of energy that he didn’t realize he needed when they first began. Bash was bouncing around like a hyper child who had just gotten his hands on a bunch of candy, his eyes bright as he watched Jason grab seraph blades from along the wall.

“Just let me help you clean up the mess and I’ll be on my way, please.” Adeline cast him a small glance before focusing her gaze on the floor and the task at hand. She was a little taken back by his rejection, but then again the two of them didn’t know each other. She noted the way he spoke, Adeline didn’t spend much time at Court herself as a child but she could tell that the faeries had rubbed off on him in the way that he spoke. I wonder how long he was in faerie land, maybe he could tell me more about what it was like... In truth she had been too nervous to introduce herself to Adrian when he had first arrived at the Institute, both a little excited and scared to meet someone with similar bloodlines. “I’m Adeline by the way.”

Jason rolled his eyes at Bash, a grin on his face. “That sounds like something you would do, can’t trust you, Bash.” He said jokingly, knowing that Bash would be one of the last people in the world to try something like that. He walked back with the swords, handing one to his friend. Jason held one in each hand, since he preferred to dual wield them. He chuckled slightly as he studied his friend, seeing how hyper he was. “Settle down, Starkweather. You’ll need all the energy you can spare to beat me.” He said with a smirk as he motioned for Sebastian to bring it on.

Madeleine Beaumont ~ At the store, with Vincent (Nightwisher )
Madeleine hung out outside the convenience store while Vincent shopped, not really afraid of being noticed by other people on the streets. The benefits of appearing as a young woman meant the only second glances people sent her way didn't end with them thinking she was a threat in any way. She kept her senses picqued for passerby while occassionally listening into the inside of the store, keeping a general lookout. She may only be able to come out at night, but this was also the time when other vampires would be roaming around.
As Vincent left the store, she stood up from where she was leaning against the glass wall, not even really trying to hide her presence from him. Once there about a block away from the store, she picked up her pace to catch up to his longer strides. "You know, it's pretty odd to see people out shopping this late," she commented, seemingly not caring if he saw her or not. "It's dangerous at night, you know. Even for someone of your size."
As she spoke, Madeleine clasped her hands behind her back in an almost innocent manner, leaning forward as she addressed him, though her voice dripped with the thinly-veiled condescension she approached most people and even other immortals with. Sienna Highfire ~ Walking home, open
Once she'd finished her coffee and said goodbye to Teagan, Sienna made her way out of the cafe and headed in the direction of the Institute. She slipped her hands into her pockets, glancing up at the dark sky. It had gotten late while she was enjoying her chat with the werewolf. "I'd better hurry home," she murmured, more for her own benefit than others. She had no family at the Institute to speak of, and she was doubtful anyone there really cared much how early or late she got home. Still, she kept a brisk pace, not wanting to be out on the streets too long as night despite her ability to easy deal with a stray mugger or even a vampire.
As she neared the Institute's large entrance, she hesitated to ready herself for the inevitasble interactions that would come out of going inside. She'd never been a very friendly or approachable person, but, well, these were her housemates she supposed. She'd have to learn to get along with them eventually. She pushed through the front doors, glancing around as she headed almost instinctively to one of the practice rooms.

( Morning, all! I have Naomi [Nephilim], Lune [Fae] & Charlotte [High Warlock] open, if anyone would like to interact with them! )
Maybe it was the subtle guilt at pushing away another who suffered from the Cold Peace, but Adrian found that any sort of rejections died in his throat. He exhaled slowly through his nose and found a cloth to clean up the dots of blood, working methodically. His wounds throbbed - but they weren't serious, so he barely paid attention to them. Once this was all clean, he'd use an iratze. They seemed clean enough.
"I am Adrian Xiao," he inclined his head in greeting. "The mess was clumsiness on my behalf. You did not have to help, but I do appreciate the help."
A thanks without saying thank you - it was the convoluted way that the fey would speak, and Adrian was aware that fewer words were likely easier. But he wanted to be polite. Naomi drilled it into him that he had to thank people when they helped him, even if he didn't want to.

Having left her parabatai to his own devices (for once), Naomi found herself restless and unsure of what to do, not wanting to patrol but not wanting to stay still. This restless energy led her towards the training room, still dressed in the gear from her earlier patrol. Some of Adrian's blood flecked her wrist, still, and she took a moment to wipe it off into her shirt, a small grimace briefly crossing her features. As she looked up, she saw someone in front of her. It took her a moment to realise who it was - Sienna...something. Highfire? It was probably Highfire. She picked up her pace until she fell into step with the other woman, a grin on her face.
"Good...evenight," the combination of evening and night passed her lips before she'd even thought about it, realising that she wasn't entirely sure how late it was. Losing track of time wasn't usually her thing, but Adrian had never cared for the time and so she'd learned to let go of it. "How goes it?"
Naomi's patient smile remained on her face, eyebrows raised as she walked alongside the other Shadowhunter. Her mood was light, and everything seemed to be a-okay today. She hoped she wasn't intruding, but it was always more fun to train with two rather than one, especially with someone she wasn't used to.

Sienna Highfire ~ At the Institute, with Naomi (toska )
Sienna cast a quick glance at Naomi as the other girl caught up to her, recognizing her as an acquaintance though they hadn't even really stopped to talk to one another. "Ah, hello," she greeted in a rather terse and polite way, honestly more comfortable out on the streets where she could blend in with the crowds than she was within her own home. She'd always been a bit stiff around her fellow Shadowhunters, for reasons she couldn't quite place. "Can I... help you with something?"
She wasn't trying to come across as rude, but her voice had an unavoidable edge that suggested she was somewhat hoping to be left alone for the night. Though that hope was dashed the moment she decided to use the training rooms, as they were often filled even into the late hours of the night. "Are you hoping to get in a bit of practice, too?" she asked, attempting small talk despite not really wanting to.

( toska) "Yeah, there definitely isn't anything wrong with this," Aurora muttered to herself, watching Liam and Isla run ahead of her. What was she thinking, doing this? After her close call earlier, Liam had almost been revealed as a warlock! She'd immediately gone and bought Liam a new coat, which would hopefully keep the young boy's warlock-mark wings restrained. She'd also redone Isla's hair, immaculately concealing the purple streak running through the girl's hair. Now, the three of them were out in town. Their main goal? Find a way to properly, comfortably conceal Liam's wings. Yeah, she was probably gonna get caught out.

Teagan eats her food and listens to the conversations going on around her. Having enhanced hearing was blessing and a curse at times. Once she was done eating, Teagan rises to her feet and throws away her trash. "See you gals later!" She called out to the Warlock before leaving the cafe.
Donovan was splayed out on the couch and staring up at the ceiling. He was just laying there to be lazy and to let his mind wander. He was thinking about leaving the Institute to do his own little patrol. Since there were no missions about, Donovan wanted to go out and see if he could find something to do. There was bound to be some demon or rogue downworlder lurking about.

Though she took note of the edge in Sienna's tone, Naomi didn't let her mood be dropped by it. She was used to harsher tones and edgier people, and she knew how to deal with it. Her smile remained on as she pushed the door open to the training room, gaze immediately drifting to the weapon rack. "Yep! Always gotta practice. Would you do me the honour of training with me?" her tone remained light and easy, a single eyebrow raising as she spun to look at Sienna, walking backwards as she headed to the weapons rack. She stopped and turned around, picking up a wooden sword. One-handed, heavier than she'd expected. Naomi was a long-distance fighter, but that didn't mean she didn't train for close-combat. If anything, she trained more frequently because she wasn't as good at it. It was rare she got to train with anyone other than her parabatai, so she hoped that the other Shadowhunter would take her up on the offer. Training with different people made for better preparations in a real battle, she'd always been told. If you were just used to one person's fighting style, how would you cope with wildly different styles? Naomi had always had it drilled into her to find different people to spar with, and her confidence made it easy to request for different people to train with her. She couldn't guarantee a positive answer, but she wasn't going to stop asking people just because one or two people had said no in the past. * * * She liked to think she knew everything that was going on. Charlotte took note of what Downworlders were around, paid more attention to the Nephilim than she would ever admit. It was caution, years of learning who was safe vs who wasn't - and even then, there was no guarantee.
Charlotte was returning from the Shadow Market, a messenger bag concealing the ingredients she'd had to pick up for a spell. It was for some mundane client who wanted...something or other, she didn't really care about the details, really. What mattered was that there was a lot of money in it, and a frustrated (but in-control) demon in her loft apartment.
Her glamour was thick - solid enough that even Nephilim would have some trouble deciphering the curl of her horns, the white of her hair - or even her eyes and teeth. Her gaze was focused forward, a woman walking with purpose. There wasn't any time to mess around with anyone. Not the werewolf pup who needed directions to a pack (she sent him in a random direction), and not the vampire turned around by some tainted blood. She ducked into an alley and continued at a rapid pace. Her apartment wasn't that far away, now.
