Hmm. I wonder when they're going to reveal the fourth since we've already gotten #2 and #3. It sounds like all chaos is breaking loose by the sound of these book titles, maybe we are getting that ThunderClan purge. Ignore me and my wishful thinking.

i just had a thot
so arc 6 kind of introduced the idea that StarClan can control the weather as shown by them threatening to drown all the clans with rain if they didn't accept skyclan by the lake.
arc 7 is called the broken code and is already introducing extreme weather in the form of a harsher-than-normal leaf-bare. If the titles 'The Silent Thaw' and "The Scorching Earth" are anything to go by, it sound like the trend of extreme weather is going to be continuing.
so if the clans start questioning the warrior code and begin to deviate toward their own rules, I wonder if this will displease StarClan to the point of punishing the code breakers by forcing extremely harsh weather on the clans to warn them of their disapproval of the clans' dissent?
that could... go badly or well depending on how they handle it. If they used this plot as a way to show that StarClan isn't an all-benevolent power and that its okay to stray from the rules if they are unjust or nonsensical, then I would be into that. but then there's the possibility that they use it to teach the readers that following the rules is the most important thing or Bad Things Will Happen, then that could go really badly. hmm.
there's also the possibility that these extreme weather changes are the "storm" that they talked about in arc 6, and now that the clans are all united they will be prepared to face it together. not sure how the "broken code" thing would fit into that, though.

Maybe Sparkpelt finally gets into her villain boots, now that'd be something to see. Sparks scorching the earth or whatever.

I'm certainly intrigued by the titles! I want to get back to the natural disasters and politics due to disasters like back in TPB, so maybe this'll do that.
My biggest concern is that all these books will be similar to Bramblestar's Storm, with the titles (and maybe summaries later) hinting at serious danger, but it'll disappoint. The storm in Bramblestar's Storm was so hyped up, and yeah, cats were affected (notably Blackstar's death to -- I presume, that is -- set up AVOS), but ThunderClan was pretty much unharmed. I think only two cats in ThunderClan died in that book: one was that apprentice whose name escapes me, but even so, she drowned going after the stick. I guess that counts as affected by the flood, but not really, imo. The other was Dustpelt dying in the badger fight. We had a few other deaths, like Blackstar's and Stormcloud's brother, but I don't count them, either. I didn't feel there was a genuine threat. The same with the heavy rainfall and the fire in AVOS...it didn't feel threatening. I get that the Clans/ThunderClan weren't really dying off in droves of natural disasters in the first arc, but there were tons other factors there. Characters were still killed by battle, starvation, greencough, Twoleg threats, etc. and tons more. The factors they faced in the forest seem to never happen as badly by the lake, so natural disasters seem to be the next best thing, if we're going to read about actual struggles similar to TPB. Unless aforementioned disasters resemble the puny, practically non-life threatening storm and rainfall and fire from Bramblestar's Storm and AVOS, though, it might be a letdown.

Interesting....scorching earth....Squirrelflight dies? Wh...where did you get that assumption from out of the title? Squirrelflight is a dark flame-colored she-cat with forest-green eyes? Also, she's pretty darn old at this point, was a major character too, so there's possibility she, and quite a few other cats, might be biting the dust in the next series.

I know what her description is. That doesn't really mean she's going to die in this. Chill. It was just a theory, not something I was 100% gung-ho into and adamant about. I made the connection that possibly Squirrelflight would probably finally bite the dust because of her flame-colored pelt being linked to the scorching part of the title. Maybe she'll get a proper and fulfilling well-written death compared to the crap that other characters had lately, ex: Dustpelt and Sandstorm. Either it'll be a book involving her, which can raise death flags for characters, or if can revolve around Sparkpelt, who also has a flame-colored pelt description. They're just guesses with no actual real weight behind them, they don't really need that deep of an in detailed explanation of reasoning right now...

scorched earth pol·i·cy /skôrCHt ərTH ˈpäləsē/Submit noun a military strategy of burning or destroying buildings, crops, or other resources that might be of use to an invading enemy force. hmm I wonder....if the cats will try and utilize fire as a weapon? Or maybe humans cause the fire to get rid of the cats?

Freezing winters and scorching summers. Makes me wonder if StarClan's punishing them for something.
