Felix rolled his eyes, he grabbed a knife, smirking slightly. This was one of his better skills, just knives in general. Throwing them, fighting with them. He threw it in the air, twirling it, and caught it by the handle. He gave a smug look to her, and turned towards her. Aiming with the corner of his eye, he flung his wrists, sending the knife into the heart of another target at an odd angle, but sticking the landing despite it. He smirked, raising an eyebrow at her. “You know, we might make a good team Kora.” He added, crossing his arms, “So, bloodbath?” He was referencing that, when the games began, if they should fight in the bloodbath, he decided that it was bets they both decide. He knew what he was doing either way, but he would pretend to do this as a team until she started giving him wrong responses, then he would threaten to leave.
Then again, that’s just how he was.
(I could totally see that.
She)s going to make him a big softie, R.I.P.)

Kora was impressed, though she wouldn't admit it. Just because he was good at one thing didn't mean he could best her, but she always had to have that possibility in mind. She couldn't trust anyone out there. But she was going to have to trust him a little bit if this was going to work at all. She waited to respond to his comment and question until she had retrieved their knives. Handing his back to him, she pursed her lips. "Maybe we will. But the verdict is still out on that," She said simply, before addressing the question about the bloodbath. "Yes. I want to eliminate as many people out as early as possible." And as soon as those words were out of her mouth, she began throwing her knives again, this time aiming and hitting the targets in the heads.

“Then I understand you the way I thought I did,” Pascal responded “you career tributes are not that hard to figure out. I’m perfectly aware your association with me is purely pragmatic, I’m not delusional. But I still suggest we try and make the best of this.”
He knew their aims were very different. That she wanted to try and win, while Pascal simply wanted to survive for as long as he could and, if possible, make sure his sister was the winner. She was older, and she was stronger. And, she would argue, she was smarter. Either way she has a better chance of winning than Pascal. He just wanted her not to fixate on him and to focus on trying to win.
After all, he didn’t see his death as an ‘if’ at this point, but a ‘when’ more than anything else.
“That’s good that you use knives,” Pascal nodded “but no, I spent all of my time working in factories. I never really had any use for weapons, so I guess you’re going to need to show me.”

If... that was optimistic. But then, how could you not try to be? Going into the arena with the mindset that you were going to die wouldn’t help anything. Besides, District 4 was still a career district last time Cordelia checked. There was a good chance she and Marcus could make it out alive.
“It’s okay,” she said when he trailed off, but didn’t add anything else. There wasn’t anything else to really say.
But then he was back to shooting, and the blonde grinned as the arrow found its target - that was a great improvement for sure. And if he kept practising with that. There was no reason they couldn’t end up the victors of this game.
“You’re getting good,” Cordelia said with a smile as she stepped away to try to practice with her spear. Its balance was perfect in her hand, and her aim was fine, but she quickly realised she needed to put more power into it than she might with another weapon, watching as it hit its target but then clattered to the ground.
“So,” the girl said as she came back from retrieving her spear, preparing to throw it much more powerfully this time “who do you think are our biggest threats?”

She thought it was arrogant for him to assume that he was better than all of the other tributes, but she didn’t say anything about it. She knew she wasn’t the most skilled tribute that year, but she knew she was decent enough to keep up with Finn, whatever he may say
“I agree. Your skills are excellent provided there are large bodies of water, but we need to prepare for every eventuality. I would suggest that I need to pick up some skills with a weapon. I know how to identify edible plants so we don’t need to cover that. Maybe one of us could cover hunting and traps? I don’t know; what you want to cover is totally up to you. It wouldn’t harm me to build up some more strength and speed. I can do healing and stuff like that, so we don’t need to worry there. Maybe we need a variety of long range weapons, short range weapons and hand-to-hand combat so all of our bases are covere.”
She didn’t know if he felt like she was taking control too much, so this far she had only spoken about the skills she felt she should develop.
“What do you think? Any thoughts?” Demi asked Finn didn’t believe for a moment that she was as good as he was. He had spent so much time training for this, that he believed he was even better than the rest of the career tributes. The district four boy crossed his arms and looked over at her with a very unamused look. He really wasn’t impressed by her yet and she would have to do a lot if she expected him to actually work with her. He listened to her, but didn’t speak until she was done. “I can do hand to hand combat. I can do it well. I’ve got a decently strong grip on all the other skills,” he said, though that was debatable. Finn wasn’t perfect and he knew where his skills lacked. Climbing trees. Plants. Hunting animals. Throwing knives. Archery. Those were the main ones. The other skills were okay, but not as perfect as he strengths. He turned without another word to one of the stations. The sword fighting one. He grabbed a sword, expertly swinging it at the targets set up.

Ash nodded. They’d need an arean that they both understood to give them an advantage over the stronger and better trained tributes. Their skill sets could either be amazing or give them absolutely no advantage. She nodded at the words. “Maybe... lets go with survival skills first? I think the fighting will be filled with people trying to show off and intimidate,” she said, nodding to the district 4 boy with a sword. “We can move onto fighting after survival?” 𝐸𝓁𝑜𝓆𝓊𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒟𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓂𝑒𝓇

Demi just rolled her eyes. She doubted he was perfect at everything like he seemed to be pretending, and his insistence on believing he was God’s gift to the Hunger Games was starting to frustrate her. But still; she had incentive to work alongside with him, it allowed her to have one less enemy in the arena. Only 22 people were in the way between here and victory, and working alongside Finn stopped it from rising to 23.
Instead, she headed over to a section that challenged her to identify the differences between edible and poisonous plants. The plants appeared on the screen rapidly and she had to decide if they were edible or poisonous and press a corresponding button.
It was a very quick process, she was able to pick out the plants very quickly, her focus absolute. She wanted to brush up on her skills, make sure there weren’t any plants there she didn’t know. She had to make sure she could survive in the arena, and she wasn’t going to die for a stupid reason like eating poisonous berries. Plus, it meant she knew which plants were poisonous but looked similar to non-poisonous ones. It was always a handy skill if she wanted to get rid of enemies.

"Nice work." Alexander said as he looked at the fire. "Least, we won't freeze hopefully." Who knows what the arena would look like. He bent down and worked with one of the other materials and created his own fire. He smiled as he places his hand over the flame.

Finn had worked his whole life for this and he wasn’t going to let some girl that thought she was better than him tell him what to do. He wasn’t going to let anyone tell him what to do. He knew what he was going to do, and that was go home to his sister and mother - alive. They hadn’t wanted him to come, but it had always been his dream to win the Hunger Games and he knew that all of his mother’s fears would disappear when she saw her son’s victorious face.
He was scowling as he watched his partner go over to the plant section and rolled his eyes. Impressive. Not. Sure, it was useful, but it wasn’t exactly a skill he’d brag about. No, there were much more impressive skills to posses in the arena and he planned on using those. Even shelter building was more impressive than knowing plants.
Finn took a step towards her. “What happened to your whole ‘let’s work on our weak skills’ thing?” he asked.

(YAY! VIVA LA FORUMS)
ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧
Hearing Cordelia's praise, Marcus flashed her a proud smile, "I guess there's hope for us yet. If I can manage to just hit everyone in the foot, we'll win the Games for sure," he joked, before stepping back so he could watch her throw. She clearly had done this before, although he guessed her failure to stick the spear was more because of the difference in weights from a trident to a spear, rather than a lack of skill. When she asked who he thought their biggest threats would be, Marcus looked around the room at the various different pairs of tributes before answering. "I don't know all the names yet, but the tributes from District 2 and 5 seem terrifying," he said with a chuckle, before continuing. "Then the guy from 10 and the girl from 3 seem like they know what they are doing. Other than that, I'd like to think we could be pretty competitive with everyone else. But I'd definitely watch out for them. What do you think?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .
"Alright, survival skills it is," Jax responded, letting her lead the way. As they walked through the massive training room, Jax could feel his stomach turn as he studied the other twenty something tributes. In a few weeks, almost all of them would be dead, for no good reason. The thought made him feel sick. But he couldn't dwell on that. He had to play the game. He had to make it out alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Octavia laughed at Alexander's compliment, "Well, there's one less thing to worry about." Putting out her fire, she swept the burnt sticks into the disposal, before brushing off her hands and turning back to face Alexander. "So, where to next? I'll let you pick this time."

“You can talk,” Demi scoffed, not breaking concentration “I’m doing this to see if they might be including plants in the arena that I’m unfamiliar with. Misjudging a plant and eating poison will kill you just as dead as a sword.. But you can relax, I’m working on my weak skills after this. There are a lot of people working on weapons for the moment, so I think I’ll look st some other things for now. Maybe making traps for hunting or something. You’re welcome to join if you want.”
She wasn’t sure what she’d do yet, but for the moment she was trying to keep them both alive once it came to the arena. She didn’t care what this show-off boy did. She had no delusions about her abilities, but she feared that the arrogance of this career tribute would be the downfall of them both.
She identified a dozen or so more plants correctly and the screen powered down as the activity ended. She had made very few errors and so she was pretty proud of herself. In an arena situation, she’d be able to identify plants without a problem.

Ash nodded and led the way, finding her brother in the crowd for a moment before looking back to her partner. “What about the other tribute from your district?” she asked. “You guys friends or anything?” she asked, unsure if it’d be smart or dumb to let him know that Joel was her brother and not some random guy from her district. His survival meant a lot to her and Jax could use that against her if he decided to turn.
***
Finn just had his arms crossed as he watched her. “Yay,” he said sarcastically. He wasn’t going to keep pushing her at the moment, but it was clear that he wasn’t exactly impressed by her plant knowledge... even though he could barely identify any plants. He watched as she finished up. “I’m gonna work on tracking. You know... animals. People. A skill that can feed us or keep us alive,” he said. Unfortunately, the two stations they’d be at were right next to each other.

“I guess there is,” Cordelia smiled
When he asked who she thought their biggest threats, she looked at each group in turn.
“The girl from 1 and the boy from 3 are tricky. She seems slightly scary but I think the boy is worse than useless in a physical fight, not that he isn’t skilled elsewhere. 2 and 5 are the biggest dangers in the arena; older, more skilled, and utterly bloodthirsty. I suggest we avoid them and let someone like the boy from 10 take them out. The boy from 2 and the girl from 12... could go either way. Fairly skilled but we might never encounter them if 2 and 5 get there first. 3 and 10 are strong, but as long as we don’t touch their siblings I think we should be fine. The boy from my district and the girl from 11 are only a threat if they stop bickering for, like, a minute. The others... kind of hard to tell.”
The way she say it, the 2 and 5 pairing were the most dangerous. Their strategy should either be to try and take them out themselves as quickly as possible, or else wait it out until someone else did or else they came after them.

Alexander nodded and looked around as he thought about what to do next. He eyed the hand to hand combat section and the knife throwing part. He walked over towards the knife throwing session. They could worry about fighting later. "Let's see how well you are with a knife." He said as he picked up the weapon and swirling it around.

“Is eating plants not a thing where you’re from?” Demi scoffed “You do what you want, I don’t need a play-by-play. I’ll just practise making stuff to catch the animals you track.”
He infuriated her, she thought as she headed to her station, which was right next to Finn’s. She knelt down, looking at the materials in front of her. She could build a trap out of these, she just had to make sure it would function the way she wanted it to.
So she got to work, focussing as her fingers deftly worked to start to form a trap, following a few instructikns around her to give her an idea of what she was doing. So her skills weren’t flashy and didn’t involve a sword. So what? They were just as valid.

When Ashlynn asked him about Kindle, Jax shrugged. "Not really. I'd seen her around the District before, but we had never met before the day of the reaping." With her fiery red hair, it was easy to pick the other district 7 tribute out from a crowd, but Jax couldn't say he knew much about her. "How bout you? Do you know the guy from yours?" He asked casually. He hadn't done much research on the other tributes, so he didn't know anything besides first names and districts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧
As she spoke, Marcus let his gaze fall once again on the two tributes they were both worried about. District 2 and 5. They clearly had trained for this their whole lives. Just watching them practice with their weapons sent shivers down his spine. "Yeah...I don't know about you, but my ideal plan would be to get the hell out of the main area once we are in the arena, get supplies somehow, and then once everything has calmed down, take out anyone we come across." He couldn't bear to say the word kill, because that would make what he might have to do feel more real. "If possible, I'd like to avoid the bloodbath." He didn't know how Cordelia was feeling about a strategy, but he knew he probably wouldn't make it if they tried to fight right off the bat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hawkeyes258
"Knives...right," Octavia muttered under her breath as she followed Alexander to the practice area. Picking up one of the knives, she tested out a few different ways to hold it, not quite sure exactly which was right. Deciding to just pick one way and go with it, she tried throwing the knife, and though it hit the target, it didn't stick. It just kind of...bounced off. "Sorry, I haven't worked with knives in a weapons way before...any chance you'd be willing to help me?" She asked, annoyed she had to ask in the first place, but she didn't see any other options.

“I’m thinking no bloodbath, too.” Cordelia nodded “and in that case I’d suggest we both learn how to fight without weapons and pick up as many techniques as we can for making tools and stuff like that in case we don’t find much in the way of supplies. There’s no point in staying for the bloodbath, that’s where 2 and 5 will shine. And once they’ve got the taste for blood, who knows what they’ll do?”
But she was still thinking about 2 and 5.
“I think nobody is willing to face them directly. The only scenario where I could see anyone else taking them out is 2 and 5 taking out the little 3 kid or the girl from 10 and their siblings going on a rampage and hunting them down” Cordelia responded “nobody else is going to win a fight against them, I don’t think.”

Giving a sarcastic chuckle, Marcus said, "Not unless we all team up against them," as he led the way to the next station, where they could learn how to make various tools and weapons out of unassuming items. "But yeah, I doubt we could get people to agree to that, so we might as well try our hands at all this stuff." But there was so much to learn, in so little time. "So, what would you do if you won?" He asked casually, as they began the lesson for tool making.

“Or they take one another out,” Cordelia mused, though she knew that was very unlikely
She headed to the next station with him, beginning to work as he asked her another question, one that made her pause for a moment as she thought. She’d been so focussed on he arena she’d never even considered afterwards.
“I guess what most winners do; give lots of money to my district, have my parents and sister live in luxury, be paraded around the Capitol whenever they like. Do their little apology tour around the districts saying sorry that their kids are dead. Then mentor some poor kids at the next Games as if I have any idea what I’m talking about. Funny thinking we could end up being mentors at the next games. What about you?“

Finn just rolled his eyes. Sure, he ate plants, but her words made sense and he couldn’t just agree with them. That would be like backing down and he didn’t want to back down. Not when he was doing so well. See, he was new to this. The whole being sarcastic thing. He watched Demi work on her trap for a moment before turning back to his own station and beginning to work on the fracking skills they were showing him. He picked it up surprisingly easy, which he expected. He knew which skills he would struggle with and he didn’t plan to practice those around his partner.
***
Ash nodded a bit and then hesitated when he asked her about Joel. While part of her was still unsure about telling him, he would find out as soon as he saw their last names. She nodded again. “Joel... is my brother,” she said, looking over at Jax. “I was picked for the games and then he volunteered to protect me and now we aren’t even able to be partners,” she said, searching for her brother among the crowd.

“So,” Demi said as she worked “what do you think of the 2 and 5 pairing? They’re probably the biggest threat going into the arena, and I bet you anything they’ll want to be in on the bloodbath. Do you want to be part of that as well?”
She didn’t particularly want to be part of the bloodbath, partly because she didn’t have any experience with weapons and so she wasn’t confident in her ability to survive in the bloodbath. But if Finn thought it was a good idea, she supposed she would trust him. She could trust herself to get herself out of the situation if things got too dangerous. She was capable of that, at least.
“If we do go into the bloodbath, you could cover my back while I get supplies and weapons and then we can get out of there. You’re better at the whole fighting thing than I am, anyway. Or whatever you want to do, I’m sure your career training or whatever has told you what to do in that scenario.”

“I’m taking part. You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I am,” Finn said. He shrugged and looked over at the other tributes. “And if you decide to join me, we can go over a strategy later,” he said. He watched the other partnerships, his mind on the bloodbath. “I mean, we need the best weapons and supplies and that’s what we’re gonna get if we survive,” he said. As for not surviving, well, he wasn’t going to let that happen. For either of them. Even if he didn’t necessarily care for her, she was his partner and he wasn’t about to just give up on her like that.

“No, I’ll go with you if you’re going. Me being there can only be a help the way I see it, and we are partners after all. I’m not going to leave you behind and I’m going to support you because that’s what partners do, even if we are in the arena.”
She wasn’t heartless; she wasn’t going to leave him to fend for himself. Plus, as frustrating as she found him, nobody deserved to go into the bloodbath unprotected. The thing that would make this bloodbath different from any other would be that they could watch eachother’s backs there because they were in readymade alliances going into the arena.
As long as this guy didn’t stab her in the back the two of them would he just fine.
