( ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ stivis ) As they walked to the cafe, Anthony was kind of lost in his thoughts. He was still a little depressed, in a way that wasn't super serious or anything, but he still was feeling kind of sad about the whole situation. It wasn't a great one, that's for sure... Sweeping his hair from his eyes, he adjusted his backpack and just thought, staring at his feet as he walked. What in the hell could've happened? Millions of thoughts ran through his mind, each leading in a wildly different situation. Thoughts of where Adam, and the tens (hundreds?) of others who had seemed to have disappeared off the face of the Earth. It was strange. That was the word for it. Strange, and sad. Sigh. It also seemed that every thought, every lead that they had was going nowhere. He had been trying to talk to his dad about everything that was happening in an attempt to squeeze some information out of the officer, to no avail. He had simply said that he had told his son everything that he could, and all that Anthony knew was all that Matteo knew. Seemed like... lies. He couldn't really say anything for sure, but the way his dad talked set off a few red flags. Anyways, he was pulled back to his self as his feet suddenly decided to dig underneath a crack in the sidewalk. Lurching forward with a yelp, Anthony soon regained his ground, but not before his head had turned to look at his feet... and soon, the alleyway beside him. He was always a curious, rebellious soul. His head always turned to look at everything around him. But this time... this time... something was looking back at him.Among the dark outlines of trash and whatever else was dumped in the alleyway, two glowing red eyes stared right back at him.Anthony jumped back with another yelp of fear, landing against Abbey and Steven, surely startling them. "Holy shit what the f-" But as soon as Anthony looked back at where the red eyes were, they were gone. As soon as they had appeared, they had disappeared... Not too unlike the bodies. ( )

Percy hadn't been expecting the yelp of surprise that came from Anthony. While he had talked with the other two, Anthony had looked to be lost in thought "What happened? Are you alright?" he asked, sounding concerned as he followed the other teens gaze to the alleyway. Of course he didn't see what had been there moments before and tilted his head curiously.

Lorelei felt sympathy rip through her heart. She listened silently, nodding. He seemed to move a lot, and that she felt bad for him for. Despite her situation, she only moved around slightly before she moved in with Alita, and even then, she stayed in the area. When he spoke of an investigation, she quirked an eyebrow, but remained silent. Yet it was almost glaringly obvious that he might need some company. Especially with what was going on in the city. That fear, of leaving even a boy she’s barely knew alone ripped at her.
“I don’t mean to intrude,” she began, looking down for a moment, pondering, before smiling at Alita, “My sister and I just recognize you, if it means anything, I find your hair to be befitting to you, and I mean that in a good way. You seem nice, and your hair is very unique and a very pretty color,” she began. She meant that too, it didn’t mean she liked him, but she knew what insecurities felt like. “And while it’s obvious you want to do this investigation yourself, so I won’t quetsion what it’s about, maybe we could at least walk with you to your coffee shop. It’s not safe to be alone anymore,” it was never safe to be alone.
She took a deep breath at that thought, casting the cruel memories away, “And we are heading to a ice cream shop, one that is right by a coffee shop, so...?” Her awkwardness came out a bit, she wasn’t the most socially adapt, due to her trust issues and all, and everything that was happening only furthered the issue. But he seemed nice enough, he seemed to have a trusting aura. She didn’t expect to learn his goals, but she didn’t feel like leaving someone alone either. She wanted to create a safer environment for those around her, especially Alita and her brothers. But it didn’t mean she was limited to just family in doing so.

“There looks great,” Abbey agreed with a nod when Steven pointed out the cafe.
But as they walked towards it, Abbey almost had a heart attack as Anthony crashed into her and Steven with a shout. As she turned, though, she could see the fear in his eyes. She was concerned for her friend, her eyebrows pulling together after the look of shock had vanished from her face.
“Anthony, are you alright?” Abbey asked, echoing the words of Percy
What one Earth was going on? Had Anthony seen a body or something? Abbey didn’t know. And to be honest she was a little annoyed that, were they actually in a dangerous situation right now, all she had to defend herself was a notebook and a camera. Not exactly helpful.
“What’s happened?”

Looking back and forth between Lorelei and Norman, Alita caught on to her sister's drift. It appeared that the girls were adopting this strange, small boy, much like they would a stray dog they found on the street. Giving Norman a comforting smile, she spoke up. "There's actually a cafe nearby that has both ice cream and coffee. Maybe we could all go there instead?" Though she loved their little soda fountain, she wanted to be accommodating to their new friend. "I've heard their coffee is the best in all of New York," she added with a laugh. It wasn't actually true, but it felt wrong to leave Norman by himself, and she wanted him to join them so he wasn't wandering the streets, just waiting for some killer to snatch him up. Of course, the two small sisters weren't exactly Secret Service level protection, but there was safety in numbers, right?

Norman Walters
Norman inhaled sharply, bringing a hand back up to run through his hair. These two girls were being weirdly nice to him. Which, people had been nice before and it was weird, but they also weren’t pestering him about his stuff and that was kind of a nice change of pace. Maybe girls were just naturally less nosy than guys, he didn’t know, he had next to zero interactions with girls before. They were...weird. But not in the way most people were weird, weird as in unattractive but not unfriendly, it was hard to explain, and now he had launched into an internal ramble, great.
Focus, Norman.
Right.
The boy finally exhaled and looked back to the two girls, one was taller than him - the one that had taken the chip - and one was exactly his same size. Well that was new, typically he was the smallest person in the room. Not that he was complaining about meeting someone he was eye level with or anything. ”Look, you two seem nice and all, but I’m good on my own. I know it isn’t safe, that’s sort of the point of me being out here,” Norman gestured vaguely up in the air as if to explain where “here” was. ”I just, I don’t really need people coming along...” He trailed off, looking at the ground as he shuffled his feet.
On one hand, he did work alone. But on the other, it wasn’t like these two girls actually wanted to help out with the investigation, they just didn’t want him walking alone. Sure he was totally capable of walking alone no problem, but it was true that he didn’t know much about the city yet, and he’d already gotten lost once or twice...or maybe it was three times, but that wasn’t the point here.
So maybe it wouldn’t completely hurt to let the two girls show him where a good place to get coffee was.
With a sigh of defeat, Norman slouched his shoulders forward and looked back up at the two sisters. ”I guess it wouldn’t hurt to go with you guys for now...just until we get to that coffee and ice cream place you mentioned,” he agreed at last and stepped to the side, gesturing with his arms for the two girls to take the lead. ”So I guess...onwards it is...” he continued, trailing off as he glanced back at the concrete ground.

( ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ 𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 stivis ) Anthony's hand, shaking with fear, pointed down towards the alley, where he saw it. Whatever it was. "I-I just saw- I just saw-" He was having trouble spitting it out. He knew that this could be something, and he needed to tell them about it. But... their looks of surprise and disbelief and... annoyance stopped him. "Never- nevermind." Anthony shook his head, trying his absolute best to gather himself. "I-I just thought I saw something..." Anthony looked towards the alleyway, and shook his head again. "C'mon guys, let's go, it was nothing... maybe just a trick of the light, guys, I'm sure it was nothing more than that." But as he took one last look at the alleyway, the lowering sun casting a bit of light down it's walls, he swore he saw something move.

Abbey looked at the alleyway where her friend was pointing, but could see nothing. It was too dark to make out any shapes in the alleyway
Abbey wasn’t convinced, but she figured it wasn’t the best idea to ask him right now in front of everyone else. Maybe she’d ask him later when they we’re alone again. She didn’t want to push anything.
“Well, okay, if you’re sure,” Abbey said calmly “but we can always check it out later if you would like.”
And with that, she continued alongside the others towards the cafe, the warm light of which was spilling invitingly onto the street.

Percy wasn't convinced either but walked in. He tailed at the end of the group and looked back once more at the empty alley before continuing inside. The warmth of the cafe was welcome. Having already shaken off what happened earlier Percy said "So, what have you guys found out? I'd like to get filled in so I can help out." as someone who was a bit of a sheep when it came to things like this he knew very little. Even the short chat with Norman had told him a lot of things he didn't know. And it had been five minutes at most and Norman was trying to kill him with a look.

Alita just watched as the small boy stammered his way through his response. At first, he seemed to be rejecting their offer, but then he changed his mind at the last second. Grinning, she looked at Lorelei, "Alright, the more the merrier!" Turning her gaze back to Norman, she furrowed her brow slightly, "Umm, are you sure you don't need help with any of that? We don't mind carrying anything for you!" She reassured him, hoping Lorelei didn't mind her volunteering for the both of them. But then again, Lorelei didn't even have a backpack to carry, so it wasn't like she was already over burdened.
Once Norman was ready to go, Alita led the way once more. The cafe was a little further than their usual soda fountain, but it wasn't far. Once they were inside, Alita scanned the room, and picked out a table that was on the larger side so it had room for all of Norman's various...things. Sitting down, her stomach growled as she took in the delicious smells from the back kitchen. "I'm starving. Are you guys ready to order?" She asked, grabbing a menu.
