Mantispetal. Named for her uncanny ability to camouflage into our barren land, Mantispetal carries her name with pride. This shecat is of the Somali breed her pelt carrying an auburn hue that makes it easy to blend in with the rocks and rugged terrain. The colors tapper to a darker a color down her spine to the base of her very long, feathery tail, and likewise, the colors turn to a lighter across her chest and muzzle. She has very thick, course fur, though it doesn't appear to be especially long like what is expected of a Maine coon or other breed. It's instead medium length, with the most prominent fluff being her chest. This shecat once had a very lean, and muscular build, but that was during her more adventurous days a warrior. She has now retired to the nursery to give birth, so her stomach is large with life. She has deep brown eyes and long pointed ears with tufts at the tip. Mantispetal also acts very much like the insect her name was gifted after. She is always calm, and clear, as though she practiced mediation often and has found inner peace. It takes a lot to get this shecat angry, and she is quick to forgiveness. She is patient, and lax, and for the most part always tends to keep her emotions under control. Her new found motherhood has brought nothing but joy into her life. Mantispetal has always longed to be a mother, and is determined to be the very best one. She still carries fear over the earlier regime of Lionstar, but trusts their new leader, and has faith in her clan to protect her and her kit. 𝘊𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘴𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘮 ꕤ Queen Open for siblings, and especially open for a mate! Eventually to turn rogue.
Blackthorn. The first thing that comes to mind when looking at Blackthorn is... Oh my God, that's a lot of fur. How does he have that much fur? Blackthorn comes from the Siberian breed, his coat extremely thick and long to protect from the cold climate of his ancestral home. He looks ten times bigger than he actually is because of all of this fur, making him look like quite the intimidating tom. His fur is a colorful mesh of a golden-brown, mocha, and white. Along his back is the golden-brown, and layered atop of it with tabby stripes is the darker mocha. These colors drag across his spine, tail, and head, and taper down his legs, but a soft cream color is present on his chest, underbelly, muzzle, and socks. He has pale yellow eyes with flecks of a darker green in them. His name derives from the singular black splash on his chest that is thin, and looks much like a thorn. Blackthorn, although he is intimidating, tries his best to appear friendly. He carries a deep, booming voice, which doesn't help his case, but in all honesty this tom doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is jovial, and always one to crack jokes when a situation goes sour to try to lighten the mood. Although he bares many scars from his past, particularly under Lionstar's regime, he has never lost hope or loyalty in RuneClan. He and Leveretstar were den mates growing up, so the two of them developed a very close bond. For the longest time the two of them were best friends, but during their early warrior days, that friendship blossomed into a romance. He has always been supportive in her, even when she took a stand to bring down their tyrant father. Blackthorn has trouble thinking for himself, as he is a follower at heart. For being so scary, he also isn't very assertive, and often has a hard time corralling the apprentices to focus on a simple task. He has always wanted to be a father, so he was thrilled to find out that his mate was to bare his kits. Even though he doesn't act the part, Blackthorn carries a raw physical strength expected of a cat his size, and through time and hard work, has proven himself to be a very capable, and strong warrior of RuneClan. 𝘊𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘴𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘮 ꕤ Warrior Open for siblings. Mate is Leveretstar. Nope~

“Quite the ruckus over something as simple as a squirrel,” Leveretstar’s voice carried the usual lilt of fondness and affection as she spoke to her deputy as she passed by. Though notably careful to do so only when the disobedient apprentice in question was reasonably out of hearing distance, knowing evenher deputy wouldn’t likely enjoy being challenged in front of an apprentice. The mousy brown leader sat comfortably against the long grass of the hollow, early morning light casting her coat aflame with colour, her paws crossed in front of her. Leveretstar looked more at peace than she had done in a long time, and fortunately for the queen looked far more calm than she actually felt after her restless night. “You could have let him enjoy it, I wouldn’t have complained,” she explained with a diplomatic shrug of her slender shoulders. “It won’t be much longer that we have prey in plenty, let the clan enjoy it whilst they can,” She meowed in a thoughtful manner. Then added with the beginnings of a smile twitching her lips upright. “It’s not as though we have any queens or kits to feed at the minute.” There was a playful knowing to her tone that her deputy would likely be the only one to understand for a while. There was a degree of amusement to both her tone and the glint in her eye, underlined by a mischievous chuckle. Call it the motherly instincts beginning to kick in, or the fact that she felt her clan should fatten up whilst they had the chance before leaffall truly had the territory in its grasp. Both were just as likely, given Leveretstar’s usual unreadable expression. Lifting herself to her paws with her usual grace in spite of the extra weight, the leader brushed coats with her deputy in greeting. “Good catch,” she meowed with a dip of her head. Whilst the deputy was built for the likes of battle as with much of her clan, Leveretstar had the more athletic build suited for running and catching, a compliment from her regarding a hunt was indeed quiet the compliment. Despite approaching the fresh kill pile, the brown coated queen chose nothing for herself for the time being, instead turning her grey gaze onto the deputy as she asked with a tilt to her head. “Anything of need to be reported?” She asked with narrowed eyes, once upon a time the pair would have spent their mornings together on patrol in search of danger, or at least that had been the excuse she had provided her father with once. It was one of their only chances to get out of the chaos of camp, one of few happy memories from that time was with the wirey shecat at her side. But much had changed since that time, leveretstar had a new role, as did her best friend, and the leader now had a mate and kits on the way. On occasion the leader would long for those moments on the moor together again, not that she would admit it, in a strange way, it felt like they had drifted apart despite roles which logic seemed should have brought them closer. “And do you have anything you wish me to do today?” Despite her melancholy thoughts, a smile lit her expression accompanied by a melodic amusement to her tone. “I suppose I had best be productive, for fear you take my ears if you see me eating.”

(Ahh thank you! ;w; I was worried that Black was a little bit too similar to Bat. I mean they're both giant brick walls that are total bro's xD But I tried to make Black a little different, because he's also kinda like... Stupid lol! But I can totally see the two of them being the bestest of friends. I also can't wait for Mantis ahhhh! ;D; I love her name so much. I'm making their layouts right now, would anyone's characters by chance be available to be Mantis's mate?)

Mantispetal and Wolfshadow would be awesome together! Especially later on, if you're okay with that.)

Foxbite » There was a sudden change in mood and stance the moment Foxbite noticed that her leader, and one of her closest friends, had made an appearance.
The fur along her spine smoothed down upon her slender frame as a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. A welcoming purr slipped from the battle-scarred molly. She let out a chuff of air alongside the purrs that were now vibrating against her small throat. "A ruckus, yes, but a much needed one. Apprentices should adhere to the warrior code. They hunt before they eat, and I'm fully aware that Eggpaw has yet to go out with Tigerstorm." Maybe she had made a bigger scene than needed, but what was done was done, that was that. Eggpaw had been a troublesome cat from the start, and Foxbite needed to put him in his place if nobody else would. He was a difficult one, that was for sure. It made sense given his upbringing with his mother, a molly named Flameclaw. She had been a devout follower of Lionstar even up to her untimely death a moon ago, and her aggression toward her own kit showed in the large tomcat now. But that was no longer the point. Foxbite focused herself back on Leveretstar, listening to her leader and friend as she spoke up.
There was a playful tone in the deputy's words as she mewed, "Yes, but I stand by my word. If he doesn't learn to hunt before he eats, then what kind of warriors are we raising for this new generation?" With that the small tabby briefly glanced at her leader's flanks, knowing full well that there was life growing within them. Foxbite herself had never been one to find interest in the idea of taking a mate or raising a litter of her own. If it happened, then it happened, and she knew for a fact that she would make a wonderful and protective mother, but if StarClan did not have that in her future then she was just as content with that. Besides, it wouldn't be long before Leveretstar's kits did come, and when they did Foxbite would step in as more of a leader than just the deputy while the true leader took time to be with her new family.
After a moment Foxbite sat down, curling her tail neatly around her paws. Having to incline her head to look at her friend directly, Foxbite shifted ever so slightly to make it easier for herself to converse with Leveretstar. "Nothing as of yet. While I was out earlier I caught the faintest scent of fox, but it was so faint it could have very well been the wind bringing it in from outside the territory." Moons ago it would have been Leveretstar and Foxbite out there before the early dawn, patrolling the lands for danger and prey. Now Leveretstar had a mate, kits on the way, and the role of RuneClan leader. The time the two could spend together was now always cut short with one thing or another, and a part of Foxbite longed for the closeness they once had. Yes, they were still close, confidants to one another really, but with their respective roles now they each had their own path to walk, and sometimes that path took them down completely different trails.
Pushing these thoughts aside, Foxbite reminded herself that they were talking now, and that's what mattered. She rolled her eyes in laughter. "Is this how the mighty Foxbite becomes leader? Taking her leader's ears and lives with it?" She teased as she pushed herself to her paws and stepped forward, nudging her friend affectionately. "Perhaps your duty of the day is to make sure no other apprentice strays from the code. Surely they'd listen to the cat in charge of when they get their warrior names," Foxbite suggested, both teasing and both serious. The thing with Eggpaw worried Foxbite if even just slightly. If one cat started acting out who was to stop any others from doing as much? Perhaps the deputy was overreacting, but this felt like a problem that needed to be nipped in the bud before it could sprout into something more.

Choosing to let the argument go, though it couldn't quite be described as such and more of a disagreement, the leader shrugged her shoulders and released a soft, chuckling sigh. Allowing her feathered tail to flick briefly across the distended stomach beside her but otherwise paid it no attention, noting how her deputy's gaze landed on it however, and it caused her ears to grow warm with mixture of amusement, embarrassment and a small degree of protectiveness. Not that she would ever in a thousand moons assume her deputy might intend her progeny any degree of harm. Having been raised in a world where the weak were culled, it was only natural for a first time mother to be slightly edgy. Though, fortunately for the sake of keeping her secret just that, the leader was skilled at hiding her discomfort. "Fine, fine," she relented with a sigh. Resting her head against her paws, a tired glint in her gaze but the amusement still allowed it some light. Exhaling softly as she watched the skies overhead, especially grey at that moment in time but fortunately didn't seem to harbour the intention of opening upon them for at least an hour or two. Plenty of time to get something done, Leveretstar decided with a twitch of her whiskers. Looking back when her deputy continued the conversation, she grimaced at the thought but for the most part it was rather the performance for the sake of a joke between old friends. "I have found your dastardly plan," she mreowed softly, battering her best friends ear with a deft paw. Acting more kit like than most might have assumed of their leader, but the truth was the queen was very young to become both a leader and a mother, let alone both in such quick succession. "I knew it all along," she meowed with a purr, settling back to where she had been comfortably lying. Wondering if there was perhaps an underlying theme to her deputy's suggestion, that the wirey deputy might well have been trying to find simpler tasks for the leader to undertake, even though she would likely never admit such outloud. The leader shook her head with a chuckle, "I would, but if I didn't lose my ears to your claws, they would likely fall victim to falling off thanks to that young toms relentless arguments." She meowed with a shake of her head, Who knows how poor Tigerstorm manages to put up with that apprentice, she grimaced slightly at the thought. "But no, something a little more fitting for the leader of the clan perhaps?" Again there was a quiet meaning to her tone, accompanied by the twitch of an eyebrow to add depth to her challenge. It was playful, with no meanness to what had been said, but pregnancy or otherwise, Leveretstar was the leader. And she was going to act like it.

Foxbite » This was something Foxbite missed, something she yearned for more often than not. Don't get her wrong, she loved being a warrior and adored being deputy, had longed for the position since she could remember, but even ambitious cats such as herself needed a small break. In the world she and Leveretstar, and most warriors, had grown up in, taking time to play and act out had not been in the picture. They had all grown up much too fast under the bloody reign of Lionstar. Now that he was gone for good the Clan could afford to sit around and play even on the cloudiest of days like today. So when Leveretstar swiped a paw over Foxbite's ear in a gesture of play, the small deputy pulled back her lips in a mock snarl. Her pointed ears lay back against her head. "You dare attack a fearsome warrior such as myself? Foolish warrior," she teased, stretching a nimble paw out and playfully batting it over her friend's nose. Despite her show of mock anger and attack, Foxbite could only hold herself together for so long before she flopped over onto her side, laughter coming from her parted maw. "Did we ever do this as kits?" She asked all the while another laugh came from her. "That's all we are, huh? Big kits with big jobs." Foxbite lay there for a moment longer before pushing herself back to her paws. She shook out her thin pelt, ridding it of any dust that might have got caught up in it while she had been down on the ground.
There had always been something about Leveretstar that perked Foxbite up. The mousy brown molly had been able to break through Foxbite's rather cocky exterior, finding a still proud and stubborn cat, but one that took the bond of friendship incredibly serious. Foxbite was a friend for life whether or not anybody else liked it. That's why, through thick or thin, Leveretstar would always have the small molly at her side. If anything the leader would never have to worry about Foxbite abandoning her in any given situation.
As the leader's friend, Foxbite needed a moment to think. She knew what Leveretstar was suggesting. With the leader expecting a part of Foxbite wanted to tell her that she needed to stay in camp like any queen, but this was Leveretstar. This was a cat that had overcome so many different obstacles already that something as much as being an expectant mother wouldn't, and couldn't, stop her. Besides, a molly outside the Clan would still hunt and protect herself even the day before her kits were born. Queens and their unborn kits were tougher than what a lot of others thought.
After a moment of thought, Foxbite came to an idea. She shot a glance toward Leveretstar, one of both mischief and seriousness. An odd combination, that was for sure. "Would you fancy a border patrol? I can have other patrols hunt, but we still need to keep an eye on our boundaries, especially if there's a wolf trying to cross onto our lands." Despite the report from yesterday's patrol, Foxbite wasn't ready to let their guard down, especially not if a threat such as a wolf was threatening to encroach on RuneClan territory.

M a n t i s p e t a l
Another night, come and pass, another morning. Mantispetal lifted her head from her cozy nest in the nursery. She was still so uncomfortable with the fact she was getting treated like royalty, her every need tended to by the apprentices, or warriors of the clan. Her nest was not nearly this comfortable just a few short moons ago while she was a warrior. A part of her missed the hardened Earth and constant snoring from her clan mates, it was better than being alone. The roots of the tree kept the den insulated and warm, though it also kept things rather dark. Sunlight streamed in through the curtains of moss and lichen that draped over the entrance of the den. Mantispetal watched dust flit by in the beams of light, dancing through the air. Her attention was diverted when she saw the massive, brooding figure of her mate bound into camp.
Wolfshadow... Without a doubt the handsomest tom in the whole clan... Mantispetal cooed a low, delighted purr as she watched him stalk into camp, fur messy and riled, it was to be expected though, his fur was too long to keep clean and orderly. At least without her shadowing him every second fixing it. The auburn molly felt tempted to beckon him over, but she was reminded that he was a warrior, and still had duties to attend to. Not everyone could laze about the nursery, waiting for the inevitable to hit.
Speaking of which... Mantispetal tucked her nose down towards her stomach, pressing her ear towards her belly in an awkward bent shape. She listened to the faint, but quietly thumping heart beat of life in her stomach, and could feel them stir, kicking their tiny little paws into her rib cage. "Oof!" The breath left her momentarily. Every day they were getting stronger, she knew the day would be here soon. Mantispetal purred and gave her stomach a lick. I'll be with you soon, my little buggers... Mantispetal's eyes glowed with the joy only an expecting mother could feel, a strong mixture of excitement, anticipation, and a dash of fear.
With a shake of her head, the molly lifted her head again, sunlight beaming down on her as she hung half in, and half out of the den. She kept her eyes on Wolfshadow, her tail slowly stirring as she looked upon the tom with adoration blooming in her gaze.

He couldn't believe he was stuck. Just his luck, you can really chalk this one up to Blackthorn being a genius! The tom's intentions were golden. He wanted to go out to catch his mate a fresh breakfast, it was a habit he had gotten into ever since she had delivered him the news. From the moment he had been told, the tom had possessed a steeled convection to be the best dad he could be. Ergo, that meant catching only the plumpest, finest, freshest meat for his children. But, luck didn't seem to be on his side today... Well, maybe it was luck or the tom's own stupidity.
He had been stalking a large, juicy looking rabbit for quite a while, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. The little critter was well on guard, but was in no rush to leave the berry bush it had stumbled across. It was a battle of wits, the bunny wanted to feast, so did Blackthorn. Patiently he had awaited, and finally, a breach in the animals defenses. They had fixated on the berries, leaving their behind open for a quick strike. Blackthorn had lunged, the wind in his fur, a delightful smile on his face! He leaped through an opening in the undergrowth, a circular groove made out of overgrown roots. His torso went straight through, his back didn't. His momentum had halted instantly, knocking the wind out of him and leaving him dazed, but most importantly, leaving him defeated as the rabbit sprinted away.
Great job genius... He groaned, digging his claws in the forest floor to try to get enough leverage to heave himself out of the sticky situation he had gotten himself into. It was no good, his hips were just too large. His fur grated against the roots, getting dirt and leaves all across his fur. Great, well if he couldn't pull his way through, maybe he could push his way back? Blackthorn took a deep breath to try to suck in as much weight as he could, then grounded his heels into the dirt to try to push himself back through. But now his haunches were too big!
Blackthorn finally let out a huge exhale, gasping for breath. He turned his head around to try to take in as much information as he could about where he was. Oh great... Looks like he was going to be stuck here for a while.
From above the tree tops scurried a small, energetic squirrel. It's huge bushy tail flicked as he trotted across a low hanging branch, looking down at the trapped feline below. A victim, the squirrel thought. With it's tiny little clawed hands, the critter grabbed an acorn and chucked it down at the defenseless cat, hitting with a thunk right against his head. "Ow!" He flinched, stirring and turning his head up to the rodent. It was mocking him!

Maintaining a slightly more composed manner, namely because it took a degree of strength to carry herself in a manner that ensured the more apparent parts of her swollen frame would remain hidden, and because it would be expected of a leader as herself. The leader admittedly allowed herself a moment of fond play with her best friend, dodging left and right as she mock sparred with the deputy. Even as heavily pregnant as the queen found herself, she was more deft footed than most. And matched with a warrior of equal speed for once, made the game rather fun for Leveretstar, where she would normally be pinned. Or would win because the opponent would falsify a win for the reason alone that the mousy brown shecat was the leader, and not on the merit of her battle. This, was a rather enjoyable change of pace for the expectant mother. As she played with her best friend, as a kit might have done, if the battle scarred leader had ever been given the chance to be a kit. But reality unfortunately had an affinity to landing back on Leveretstar's head like a brick wall. Losing her footing, the queen crashed down unfortunately hard thanks to the especially slick turf under ground, landing on the swell of her stomach. She had to bite back the cry of pain the slip up had brought to the back of her throat, she remained lying for a moment or two, trying to catch her breath. Grimacing, the queen sat up and shook out her fur, with a soft chuckle as though nothing had happened. Though there was a light pain in her gaze, it was nothing of too great concern as the only thing injured had been the queen's dignity, and fortunately not her unborns. Resting down again beside her deputy, her breathing soon returning to its normal pace and the pain fleeing from her gaze as it returned to one more carefully crafted. The shecat sighed softly, a melancholy glance sent towards her stomach as a thousand thoughts ran through her head. Given who her father was, and the scars he had left both on the clan and on her own frame. Few could blame the queen for her worries about becoming a parent given the example set for her. But no matter what, she was determined to be a better parent than her father. It wasn't an especially high bar to reach. "I doubt it," the queen admitted with a good natured chuckle, watching her swollen stomach still with a twitch of her whiskers. Her tail came to wrap around it in a protective gesture, she prized every kick she felt and every movement. For a few moons before, her kits likely wouldn't have made it past their first moon. "But I can only pray they get to," she kept her tone especially quiet and careful. Straightening and shaking the darkness from her mind as best as she could, the queen smiled a little. "Sounds good," she answered with a purr. On her paws again and stretching out her slender frame, "Lets go?" She offered, gesturing towards the camp exit.
Despite the fact his maw was still stained with the blood of an enemy, the tom's expression lit with what was for once a truly genuine smile when his gaze landed upon the beautiful creature carrying his kits. Ears twitching forward, a glimmer of pride lighting his gaze when he saw the swell of her stomach. Watching carefully the way her pelt lit like a fire as the sunlight hit her with its warmth. In his eyes the queen couldn't have been more beautiful if StarClan themselves blessed her with their glory. They had already blessed the tom with their glory in allowing him such a beautiful and fine warrior as his mate. On his paws, he moved not for his mate at first but for the fresh kill pile. His gestures confident in the fact he would go unchallenged, and more than willing to take the pelt of the challenger to line the nest of his mate if it was needed. Nosing his way through the fresh kill pile, sure it was reasonably appealing but nothing would suit the pallet of his mate, though some might wander if anything would ever be good enough in his eyes for his mate. At last, though somewhat begrudging that he hadn't found something more appropriate, the tom cat lifted from the pile an especially plump juvenile eagle, reasoning he could at least pluck the creature of its feathers to beadded to the growing collection lining her nest. Lifting his choice and moving to greet his mate, the massive tom comparatively brushed his fur against hers in affectionate greeting. Though notably paying attention to the swell of her stomach as he dropped the prey at her paws. Running his nose gently through the soft fur where her leg met the swell of her stomach, the tom paused. Unconspicuous in what he searched for and not moving until he found it, a soft purr tugging free of his frame as he at last felt the familiar sensation of tiny paws barrelling at the side of his nose at his touch. The tom grinned softly, far more doting to his mate than he was anyone else. Even though he was known for having the persona of being an especially soft natured tom. "Good morning," he meowed turning his attention back to his mate for the first time properly, pressing his large form against hers in affectionate greeting and weaving around her for a heartbeat in a part playful part adoring gesture. "And how are you all this morning?" He questioned, pointedly nudging the piece of fresh kill towards her in offering.
(If you'd like, cac, Fox and Leveret could eventually stumble across poor trapped black? XD)

M a n t i s p e t a l
(Cute fluff cat cuddles between protective crazy guy and soon to be crazy girl. ;w; My favorite.)
As fondly as Wolfshadow looked upon her, Mantispetal looked upon the tom in the same light. She purred, excitement coursing through her as the tom began to bound towards her. As he came to greet his kits, the auburn shecat rolled to her side to let him relish upon his brood. She lay with her back on the soft ground of the nursery, eyes beaming at his with warm, motherly love. "They're fine," She chuckled as she placed one dainty paw gently on her belly. "But I'm not." Her voice was light hearted, letting the tom know that she wasn't being serious. After all, how could she complain when she had someone like him? The tom so eagerly took after everything she needed, but she missed when they were both warriors, and she wasn't treated with such gentle care. Her mate knew of this from her constant complaining about being cooped up, the energetic shecat still carried a yearn for the rough and tumble life of a warrior. But, she had taken to her motherhood well, treating her body with the upmost care so as to give her children the best shot at life that they could.
Mantispetal lovingly batted at the toms fluffy cheeks, booping him on the nose with a cute little giggle. "You're so lucky... I'd give anything to be running through the territory right now. I know if we were both out there we'd kick that fox out of here." She smiled, smoothing her paw pads gently over his cheeks to smooth out the wild, knotted fur. She supposed she should get to work on him, it'd take nearly an hour to get him all straightened up. But it would only take him 5 minutes to get it messy again. Mantispetal rolled onto her side and started to clean the toms flank first, rasping her tongue across his incredibly course fur to pull out the small burrs and debris tucked in it.
Fondly she remembered that time together as apprentices. Wolfshadow was always older than her, by the time she had graduated to apprentice, the tom was on his last moon. The two of them worked well together, both possessing more raw brute strength than the others they were bunked with. Almost every training session the two were sent on together, Mantispetal had a deep respect for the older tom and his strong abilities. But still, at the end of the day, with the sky darkening as the training came to an end, the two would sit together for a meal and she would clean his fur.
He's so handsome... She thought to herself, loving these little moments they had together, when she could soak in and appreciate everything about him. She loved every tiny scar, every lock of fur, his big strong paws, and fluffy chest. "Ahh, tell what it's like, I forget what it's like to be alllliive~" She said dramatically, alluding to how it must have felt to feel the wind in your fur, and the Earth shift under paw.
