I will legitimately always laugh when people confuse Reedwhisker and Reedfeather ;p RiverClan is so forgotten that their deputy, who's been deputy since the third book in OOTS and is also the son of the leader, is mistaken often. This has happened quite a few times on this board now. It's like that hand meme. I love all my deputies: Squirrelflight, Cloverfoot, Crowfeather, and... *looks at smudged handwriting* Reedweaker? Reedfeather? Reed-something?Reedwhisker and Reedfeather are like Pebbleshine and Puddleshine to me. Add that to being minor characters and I'm bound to confuse them ahah. *leans into a mic* Listen....listen. No one wants to read about Dovewing's kits, cause the Erins will take the opprotunity to shove DoveTiger down our throats again. And I don't' think it's worth the risk. Imo I don't like Shadowkit or Lightkit for the generic Deviantart OC names, and they're "oh so special" especially the first who's lining up to be a Gary Stu. The only one I remotely am okay with tolerating is the only normal one, Pouncekit. We don't need another ShadowClan POV, we've had enough for one sereis, and honestly, they're all in a horrible sour light. Dovewing is still an irresponsible fool with no real loyalty, and Tigerstar II is starting to live up to his horrid name. No one wants DoveTiger kit POV's, or at least I sure as heck don't. I'd rather read about FinTwig kits, and I HATE that pairing lol. Dovewing's story ended way back in TLH, and bringing her back into the plot only ruined her character. Enough is enough Erins. Please, Erins, anything but DoveTiger. I'd rather read about a poorly-written, guilt-tripping Onestar redemption arc, and I hate Onestar with a burning passion. |

Sorry, fanart or not, I don't really care, lol. Did you even get permission from the artist to post that here? DoveTiger is just deplorable. And Shadowkit is setting up to be a gary stu imo, unless the Erins break their generic writing and prove otherwise, sure maybe I'll change my mind. But hey the mere association of DoveTiger makes me was to wrinkle my nose at their kits. I didn't like LeafCrow and I don't care for any of the three, so I doubt much will be different in this same case as well. We all know the Erins are gonna make him uber special, then ignore the rest of the littermates for reasons, then we'll get a sob story with DoveTiger and they'll try to sugarcoat it from his POV. Then when Shadowkit gets older he'll either be as horrid as Jayfeather in personality or as boring as Alderheart, choose your fighter. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get some random other clan pov instead that completely overshadows him like they did with Alderheart.  |

I'll just repeat that I loathe Dovewing and loathe DoveTiger, and I find the name "Shadowkit" incredibly bad in every way... but I thought Shadowkit was one of the few genuinely interesting characters in TRS, and I'll be very happy if he's a PoV in TBC.

Ehh, fair enough. I mean sometimes I do like certain characters despite their parents. I don't ship Ferncloud x Dustpelt but I liked Foxleap and Icecloud. I don't like Lionblaze x Cinderheart but I like Fernsong. Then again my hatred for both of them doesn't even come close to what I feel toward DoveTiger. I'll wait until he's older, lol, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. |

JFC it's a kit negativity gold mine here right now. I get you guys hate TigerDove but jeebus chill a bit. If Shadowkit does get a PoV you know by now that all the complaining in the world won't make the editors listen.

Honestly it's not the kits that's a problem. It's the same old trope that keeps getting pushed in our faces. We want NEW characters. This is what made DOTC so refreshing--we had characters with no past stories and that were just entirely new to us.
Instead we keep getting characters we already know. Characters of important past ones and that's just boring. The first time it was cool (TNP) but after that? It just gets really boring and repetitive. I want fresh new characters that we know very little about. Not ones we already know everything about already.
I also want a POV from WindClan and RiverClan. I'm tired of ShadowClan entirely after this arc. And I'm tired of SkyClan and ThunderClan, but you guys know for sure we won't NOT have a ThunderClan POV. Ugh.

As a sidenote, is it anywhere possible in our settings, or in a thread, to automatically unfold spoiler tags so they don't have to be clicked on for every post with them? I just went back and hid all my posts, though I agree with Egg that I don't really think it's necessary.
I mean sure if the thread doesn't have a spoiler tag and people check it just to see a bunch of people who haven't hidden their posts then yeah that's completely understandable if people are upset.
But if there's a store on main street that has a massive sign on it saying "Everyone's talking about the new Star Wars movie in here!" then people who walk into that store not wanting to be spoiled asked for it at that point in my opinion.

There may be some misconceptions regarding one particular climactic scene in the book, so I'm gonna clarify that... Juniperclaw doesn't sacrifice himself to save Shadowkit. He jumps in the river, grabs Shadowkit, and pushes him up on shore, then instead of climbing out himself, he lets Violetshine walk over him so she can be saved. This causes him to get swept away and drown. He dies to save Violetshine, a cat from the Clan he was trying to poison less than a week ago. It's really bizarre, because he never quite apologizes at any point in the book. |
