"We are not here to fight them," Armise reminded the group, flicking his glance away from the scope just long enough to see where they'd all moved to. With them all so close he felt claustrophobic, breath caught in his throat. He didn't want them to look at him or see him or notice him, not like this. Swallowing his fear and forcing himself to focus, he lowered the gun and turned his attention to the group, mouth twisted into a bitter smile at Jason's question. The word murderer rang in his head, and he couldn't meet anyone's eyes.
"It's along story that we can save for when we're not in immediate danger. Let's just uh...does the name Armistice ring any bells?" he asked, not bothering to wait for an answer as he shifted and squatted by his cover, drawing lines in the wet dust in front of him.
"There are maybe ten of them total, and it's not likely we can take them down. Most of them are stage 2 mutants and are tough as nails, especially with stolen riot gear," he began to explain, drawing a small map and pointing to where the Belladonna group were, directly across from their makeshift shelter. "They are extremely good at tracking, and it's likely they already know we're here. Our best bet is to split up. The rest of you can take my GPS and go to Fort Kilo, while I distract them."
Really, there was an easy way to get out of this situation, a very easy solution. They were all killable with a bullet to the head, but Armise no longer had the guts to pull the trigger.
But if they stayed to fight, he couldn't guarantee the safety of everyone. They all looked taught and poised and ready to strike like cornered animals, and he couldn't live with himself putting them in that situation. Everyone suffered out here, and he could manage to make them suffer a little less. He let out a sigh, frosty breath coming out in puffs as he flexed his cold and numb fingers, frown deepening. He nodded, as if affirming the plan.
"I hope you're a good shot with that, Connie, in case they chase you. All of you need to be prepared."

(gonna put some wip forms here, then maybe fill in the rest tomorrow. i'm too tired now, lol. so, will they all be in the same general region of the continent, though?) name: Eryk Krakowsky age: 21 gender: male description/personality: At 5’10”, Eryk’s height is unremarkable. He’s skinny, too. His hair is naturally brunet, but the tips are bleached with hydrogen peroxide. His skin is pale too, save for the streaks of dark along his veins(see mutation), and he has dark brown eyebrows above light hazel eyes. Though clumsy, Eryk is intelligent. He reads when he can find books and gleaned a lot of scientific and mathematical knowledge as a kid in the city. While kind-hearted, Eryk can be selfish (without realizing it) and tends to try and guilt-trip those that make him feel badly. Still, he values the companionship of those that want him around. mutations: Stage one. He has control over and immunity to electricity-- though each time he uses his abilities, his veins and arteries grow close to the surface of his skin, streaking lightning-shaped black and navy blue lines across his pale skin, particularly on his forearms and face. He is thankful that his appearance isn't "strange" enough to be considered that of a stage two mutation. origin: came from around Ft Delta, outside the city, but fled so he could avoid being ostracized for his mutations other: pan/ace sn: falconfire name: Akira "Yuki" Yukimoto age: 18 gender: male description/personality: Akira stands at 5’3”, with a wiry body and sinewy arms. He has wild brown hair and dark eyes, and his left eye is partially blind. His brows are thick, and he’s retained a tiny bit of baby fat on his cheeks. The body he’s got lends itself to his power: nimbleness, speed, and gymnastic skills. While lacking in brute strength and complex strategy, he is skilled at some forms of hand-to-hand combat. Despite his good heart and quick body, Akira-- who prefers “Yukimoto” or “Yuki” when being addressed by those he doesn’t know well-- is pretty book-dumb. He is also stubborn and quick-tempered, and he can have a hard time accepting the direction of people that want something different than he does, even if their actions are more logical. Along the same lines, Yuki has a strong moral compass; there is not a lot of room for gray morality in his mind. The selfish are evil, and everyone else is good. To those that are innocent, Yuki can be very kind, and he likes others to feel included. mutations: Stage one mutations, for the most part. He has some animal-like traits, though not of any specific creature. His teeth are pointed, his eyes slits with brown irises, and his nails more like thick, stubby claws at the tips of his fingers and toes. His adaptations make him athletically inclined, as well-- he is nimble, balanced, and fast. origin: came from around Fort Bravo other: demisexual/romantic sn: falconfire (i finally finished, rip. is there still room for me to join in? and is there any way i could get a basic summary of what's happening? i am full of questions ahh)

(Riot gear makes me think of borderlands for some reason)
At the thought of splitting up, Jason faltered for a change. Who would go with who? How were they going to split up? Did one person or people have a greater risk of being killed if they found them? There had never been a situation like this in Jason's life. He always had Emma right by his side. The look on her face terrified him though. Had living out here really made her such an adrenaline junkie? "How are we splitting up?" Jason asked, ignoring the confused look on Emma's face. "And don't say you are going by yourself, Armise. I don't care who you were because that isn't the man helping us. The man in this moment is and I feel like that is a man I can trust." Why was he saying this? Maybe the old sap he used to be was coming out. Maybe it was just that he wanted to say something that sounded heroic. Maybe he just had to word vomit. Either way, Jason said it and it was out there. A sheepish smile crept up on his face that he couldn't keep from settling on his lips.
The number of them created a sick feeling in Jason's stomach and he knew that it would be impossible to fight. He wanted to keep Emma safe though. Ever since that day, that rainy day, Jason has spent his life aiming to keeping Emma safe. Maybe now was the day he would be able to protect others. It was in his nature to be protective and in that moment the call to do so was stronger than ever. At the mention of being prepared, Jason removed the goggles from his head and lifted his hood over his head before putting his goggles back on over his eyes. "Emma, you ready?"
Emma had been over the moon when she thought of getting some action until Armise said they weren't going to fight. "Aw, that's no fun," she whispered softly to herself. A frown replaced her smile which was then replaced by utter fear. She had never had to deal with Stage 2 mutations that were armed to the teeth in probably good gear. Her glass wouldn't be able to do anything. She was useless. Her whole body seemed to go lax as she leaned against the wall, glancing at the ground. "Ten of them? There's ten? And mostly Stage 2 mutants?" The ground grew unfocused and Armise's words grew muffled as she began to feel sick, mostly with herself. She wanted to fight. She wanted to get some action for once and feel alive. Something more than just walking and picking up the odd item here and there. When Jason spoke to her, Emma snapped out of her daze and looked at her twin. He was worried, she could tell. All she could do was open and close her mouth, unable to find the words or what even to say. She just wanted to survive.

name: Aneira Echo age: 19 gender: Female description/personality: Aneira is about 5'8" and has an athletic build. Her light brown hair is chopped short to keep it out of the way and she has hazel eyes. While traveling between bases, she learned how to make friends quickly and has a relatively charming personality, but she also learned that you can never truly trust someone. That's given her a tendency to double-cross people when necessary, though she hates making enemies and considers it a dangerous practice. mutations: Her fingernails are tough and pointed into claws and she has prominent canines and moderately sharp teeth. Her upper lip splits in the middle, drawing up toward a cat-like nose, which allows her to smell better than usual. Her sight in the darkness is better than the average human as well. Her legs resemble the hind legs of a cat, as to her feet. A lot of places that would naturally have body hair instead have soft, creamy fur. origin: Fort Echo other: She lost her family before she can remember; whether they were killed or just separated from her is unclear. After living in Echo for a while, she was transported to Fort Alpha, then Fort Beta. She now resides in Fort Delta. During the travels many of her forms listed her as "Aneira - Echo". Because she was young, she thought that Echo was supposed to come after her name and began to give her name as Aneira Echo. Others misunderstood as well and it eventually became recorded as her last name. sn: Iceblossom

A darker figure lurked around much like a shadow in the forest, watching the big group of mutants with wide hazel eyes. Both of his ears twitched and moved to listen to what they were saying. He couldn't catch much out of their conversation but continued to stay in the shadows. He blinked twice, pursing his lips before hopping into a tree to hopefully get a better view of what was happening. The group seemed to be hiding from something perhaps? The figure couldn't exactly figure out what though. He was sure that there was something else besides him lurking in the shadows as well, but nothing that his nose and hearing could detect. Maybe it was more mutants. He didn't know, or exactly want to know.
Mikey hummed to himself as he carefully dropped out of the tree, landing with a soft whisper of leaves expertly. Years of living in the forest does teach you a thing or two about displacing your weight so you make not a sound. His wings fluttered behind his clothes, and he hissed as they rubbed against the rough material. Mikey sighed as he carefully watched the group, not wanting to approach them for of fear of being killed, or rejected due to his quietness. That was unlikely, but Mikey did not take to rejection well, so it was always a fear in the back of his mind.
(Ok I tried)

It was all about sizing up your mark. That and misdirection. Todd watched a person looking out at something and couldn't help but smirk. He had been tailing this guy for days and he finally got to the perfect place for him to steal from him. A slight movement of a shape passed quickly by the man's right and then another on the other side. Todd planned to first make the man scared or at least wary. Then came faking needing to be helped. Most people would aid someone thinking of the reward or favor they would get in return. Todd used that with his cons. Perhaps if he was in a settlement this could be easier, making someone appear to be what they weren't to a certain person who would react. Most of the time it would be a violent reaction and then it would backfire in some way on the target. If not, then at least there would be someone to help and therefore steal from. It was win-win mostly.
After Todd waited for a bit after the blurs, he made a few fake bandits with his illusions and walked off a bit that would stay in the mark's hearing range. "Okay, let's see if the idiot falls for this," he said to himself, clapping and rubbing his hands together. He took off his leather jacket and tossed it away from him and bent down to rub some dirt over himself, rolling around to add some detail. Once he finished making himself look as disheveled as possible, Todd yelled out as if he was being attacked, which it did look like with his illusions kicking him and rummaging through an illusion version of his bag which was actually under his jacket. "Someone, help me! Please!"

At the sounds of shouts, Mikey whirled around to where he thought he could hear them. Two parts of his mind battled over what it was, the more paranoid part of him thinking it was some attempt to rob him of what little he had. Another thought it was a person in danger, being robbed themselves. Either way, Mikey was going in to check out the situation. If he thought it was too suspicious, then he'd just walk away like he saw nothing. If it indeed was true, then he'd help. But some inner gut feeling told him that something was off here, but he went to check it out anyway.
He hummed as he jumped back up into the trees, hopping from branch to branch with expert ease as he went over to the area where the person was supposedly being attacked. He soon came across it, and he saw another person being kicked and robbed by bandits. But, what immediately caught Mikey's sharp eye was that there was no blood on this guy. Sure, there were scuff marks and dirt and whatnot, but surely, unless this person was very lucky, this guy didn't seem to be hurt. And bandits weren't gentle. And he saw that the guy wasn't being kicked around like people normally would with bandits kicking and pushing him around. This rose suspicion within Mikey, who just narrowed his eyes and watched the situation, trying to determine if this was real or not. Most points led to yes, but some critical points led to no. Mikey blinked slowly as his lips twitched upwards in a rare smile. This was probably an attempt to get to Mikey for whatever nefarious reason, which Mikey wasn't going to easily fall victim to.
