As Jason sat back, the glass bottles all crashed to the ground, some even breaking. Even Jason cringed at the sound and wondered what had happened to make the bottles fall since it wasn't him. Grey eyes met grey as the twins locked eyes. The cold air caused him to shiver as he sighed and shook his head. The time it will take to put the broken bottles back together again would not be fun but as Jason looked over the fallen glass and realized it made a better barrier than the one he had made because now it worked as a defensive circle. The softness of Emma's hair calmed Jason as he brushed back her hair away from her face and Emma glanced away from her brother. "I hate these piercings," Jason whispered as he looked at Emma's pierced ears. The rain created a dull sound as it hit the ground outside of the shelter the five people present had found. Just how long would it last? That's what Jason was wondering as he moved over to the wall to sit against it next to Emma's head. Hearing the one guy speak he glanced over and pulled out a wrapped up food item he wasn't sure what it was but chucked it over to the guy anyway. "Anyone else want anything?" Jason asked with an edge to his voice as if he wasn't willing to share but not opposed to it either. When the woman who moved next to the man with the rifle, Jason tensed up slightly. She could be with the man though it's unlikely. The lady could overpower the man and take his rifle to kill them all and take their supplies. Jason wasn't sure if any of the glass they had was bulletproof which would mean he and Emma were vulnerable to bullets. Movement from the corner of his eye caused him to look at Emma as she grabbed some food and began to eat. She seemed to be fighting to stay awake out of caution though she needed the rest. When the woman asked her question followed by the comment from the other guy, Jason scowled and furrowed his brows. "So what if we are? We wouldn't be out here if we weren't. Well, we could have stayed back at Fort Whiskey but our parents died and my sister threw a little fit." He smirked slightly when Emma reached over to slap his leg.
"Shut it," Emma complained. She forced herself to sit up in order not to choke on the jerky she was eating and grabbed a canteen. The jerky made her thirsty but at the same time she was still hungry. Looking at the three people there, She pushed back the hood from her head and slipped her hair behind her ears, showing off the piercings she was so proud of. "So we're all going to be here for a while so why don't we get chummy? I'm Emma and this is Jason. We're twins. Got stage 1 mutations that allow us to control glass. Make a single move towards this little barrier and I will cut you." Emma smiled at herself as if she just made the friendliest of introductions but one look at her brother would show how speechless that introduction made him. Emma wasn't one for being delicate or friendly. All she needed was her brother, food, shelter, and water. She scooted back to sit against the wall with her brother and she toyed with a few shards of glass as she ate, ready to hurt someone if she had to.

Connie was not particularly amused. One, there were too many people. Two, they all seemed bitter, unnecessarily so. Not to say Connie was not- oh, she was more than bitter -but she at least tried not to act it. Slowly, she sat to the ground, biting her lip as she placed a hand over her still-rumbling stomach. Hearing the twin talk, her head snapped up, focusing on the two of them. The girl was awake now, too. She quirked an eyebrow, then smirked a creaky, dry-lipped smirk at the two. "Ah, well I didn't intend to harm any feelings," she croaked out, tipping her hat. "Wouldn't want to die of too many paper cuts."
Then, much to her surprise, a bottle was tossed at the girl, to which she shot Armise another look. It was a silent question of whether he was trying to poison her or not. Then, she shrugged, and decided "what the hell?" Taking it down by gallons, she came up for a breath wiping her lips with the back of her jacket sleeve. "I could eat." The girl leaned forward expectantly towards the twins. "My name is Connie."

Jaime flinched as the man with the rifle moved towards slightly, only to see that it was to hand him a thermos. Albeit the water he had just collected couldn't clean considering, but Jaime gave a grateful bow of a head and a quiet 'thank you', gently grabbing the thermos with his dirty fingers. He almost jumped out of his skin, again, when the glass bottle shield shattered, causing an annoying ring inside the crumbling building. He only watched as the broken glass became more of a weapon than a shield from the wind, and Jaime scowled as he turned away to take a sip from the canteen. But before he could, the one boy taking care of the seemingly weak girl tossed some wrapped, unknown food his way, almost causing him to drop the water before he even got any. Looking down at the wrapped product, Jaime's brown skin couldn't help but produce a ruddy red color; he felt suddenly sheepish, guilty, because complete strangers were sharing very valuable resources with him. An ugly cretin, at least in his opinion. He hadn't realized how long he had been just staring at the food in front of him, pupils dilating and contracting in thought, until he heard the two.. siblings? began to speak more openly, sort of. Listening to the feisty girl, Jaime only laughed once she was done, first quietly, then a big hooting laughter. Placing the canteen of water down besides the food tossed to him, Jaime seemed to be wiping tears from his eyes as he tried to talk through hiccups, "You'll cut us, huh? Ah, Jesus, if you're offering, wanna help cut off all this dead skin on my back for me? Real itchy when it starts molting off." As he said this, he turned to show his back, lifting up his tank top and causing flakes of dried, dead skin and scales falling to the ground or hanging off. Lowering his tank back down and turning to face them all again, with fangs dripping once more, Jaime picked up the thermos and took a large swig, before continuing, "I'm only pulling your leg chica- err, Emma. Your attitude is pretty amusing, if not bratty. And a pleasure to meet you, Jason, mighty obliged and thankful." Turning towards the man who gave him the water, with another look of appreciation from his torn face, he carefully pushed it towards him, eyeing the rifle again. "I'd wash that good before using it, not just because I tainted it with my gross mutant skin, more like because I'm not sure if I got any of my venom on it. Don't need to be downing any of that,"he said, licking whatever was left of his rigid, scarred lips. His attention was on the unknown food, which he grabbed and and gently with dirty fingers unwrapped and without looking, took a great big bite, ripping into it and causing saliva and venom to mix and make a mess. Embarrassing, yes, but it was something he really couldn't help with missing half his lips and the teeth... The girl standing by the rifleman--- Connie now, is it? Made Jaime almost choke on whatever he was eating from laughing at her quip towards the younger girl. Swallowing hard and beating his chest to let out a loud burp, the fanged fiend smiled as best and friendly as he could and said, "My name is Jaime, pronounced high-me, nice to finally meet some, hopefully, non-hostile people out in this Hellhole."

It was just like Emma to get people to talk even in her hostile way. Jason Used his own ability to lower the shards to the ground before he got out some more food. He tossed one of the packaged rations to the girl whose name was Connie and kept an extra one next to him for the rifle guy. Picking up some food himself, he unwrapped some old bread with jerky stuffed inside to make a sort of deformed sandwich. "So what are you all doing out here?" Jason asked as moved his arms to let Emma curl up on his lap to fall asleep. He still wore the hood of his sleeveless hoodie and his jacket was still folded up beside him meaning his arms were exposed to the air. It was nice and cool considering he had been sweating before like usual. Jason held his food with one hand as he protectively and affectionately ran his fingers through Emma's brown hair, her soft breathing reaching his ears as it mixed with the sound of rain.
At the words on his sister's personality, Jason chuckled a bit. "If she was awake she would say thank you. I just want to ask out right, are any of you going to take out the rest of us and take our supplies? I know that for us, we have been walking for several hours straight to get here and need the rest." He paused for a moment to study the others before continuing, "So, I know we don't plan to harm anyone but I just need to know if that thought was in anyone's mind. Unlike my sister, I'm willing to do more than just cut someone."

The tension in the room grew to a pressing brittleness, and everyone seemed to be on edge to some degree, balancing on whether to be friendly or hostile. Armise couldn't blame them, but it made him feel more frigid when he should be appreciating this impromptu group of rag-tag vagabonds. He offered a tentative smile at Jaime in return to his thanks, taking the thermos from him with delicate hands. Venom, huh? Impulsive thoughts buzzed in his brain like radio static and he stared at the object for a moment too long, then thought better of it and moved back to the open wall to hold it out in the rain. It felt like he ignored a lot of things these days, but doing something was better than nothing, better than wallowing in it all. There were other things he could spend his time doing.
After rinsing the thermos out as thoroughly he could manage, he dropped back down to his spot beside the over-turned table and stuffed it back in his backpack. Things were looking good if people were having somewhat-friendly conversations, perhaps joining in wouldn't hurt. Now, if only he could get his words to work. "Name's Armise," he piped up once more, raising a reluctant hand in greeting, expression tame and expectant. Already he'd said more words than he had in months and it felt strange to hear his own voice out loud. Clearing his throat a bit, he scratched at his cheek and kept an eye on the others.
"I'm just living. Also been meanin' to see if Fort Kilo is still standing though," he replied, furrowing his brow slightly. That had been his plan, right? He faintly hoped he was still going in the right direction, relying on his dingy old GPS and mental navigation. Looking at the others, though, he hated to know why they were out here. They all looked so...worn, he could only imagine that they'd been pressed out here against their will, especially some of the more mutated ones. They were far enough west at least that prejudice couldn't be the reason for it, but this far into the wasteland there was nothing to forgive or protect. Armise listened to Jason's threat with a small smile, one that didn't reach his eyes as he flicked a glance over to his own gun. He had absolutely no plans on hurting anyone here, but he didn't appreciate even the hint of hostility. "Not in mind here either, unless it's in any of yours. Just takin' shelter."

Jaime allowed the rifleman, Armise, to talk first, since he hadn't really said much until then. He watched the two, green eyes bright and observant as he chewed into his meal greedily, saliva and venom dripping from the sides of his scarred face. As much as Jaime enjoyed having people around, the environment still felt tense, and it made his skin crawl once more. He was barely starting to lose all the dead scales and skin, damn it! Swallowing and wiping the sides of his face with the back of his hand, Jaime spoke up with an unnerving, but friendly smile of his, "Nice to hear you speak once again, Armise." "At least you kind of know where you're going, I'm kind of trying to find some camps, mainly of mutants such as myself of course, so I can do business and get some more supplies before I head back down to Fort Tango,"he said nonchalantly with a wave of one of his dirty hands as he stuffed the last of the food into his mouth hungrily. When Jason made his own threat, and caught Armise glancing at his gun, is when Jaime felt a surge of anxiety and the pain of newly forming scales emerge from his arms, back and chest this time. With a painful growl, Jaime quickly removed his tank top, not wanting it to get even more dampened with blood, and glared at the two men. "Sorry for my attitude now, but if you haven't noticed kid, we ain't exactly here for blood. We all seem to have our own destinations, and I think it'd be going backwards in progress if we decided to risk our lives and plans just so we could ransack you guys,"Jaime said bluntly, almost coldly, green eyes glowering, anger only making his skin break out and bleed much more profusely. His fangs began to over produce venom again, dribbling down his chin and onto the ground below. "I hope that makes everyone feel all warm and safe inside now." With a grunt, Jaime began searching through his pack, and pulled out a piece of black material, a bandanna, and began pressing and attempting to wipe away the blood seeping from the freshly formed reptile scales, and use the exact material to wipe at his mouth and fangs. As he started calming down, a surge of guilt began to build in the pit of his stomach. "I apologize for my tone and word choice, but if you guys couldn't tell, I'm slightly emotional right now,"he said with a gentle, dramatic sigh, trying to lift the mood somewhat now. "I'm just feeling sort of too old for all this right now and I'm only 29 so,"he added, muttering now as instead of waiting for the scales to begin drying and preparing to molt, began to pick and tear at them, sure causing himself to bleed even more but that's what the bandanna was there for. "So... we don't gotta start singing kumbaya or anything, just, act like how normal human beings would act when forced together for shelter,"he finished, not sure where he should of ended his small rant, but that's where he decided too, and quietly cleaned and tore at himself.

Perhaps a nicer tone had been needed before. It was too late now and Jason had just added to the tension. To be fair, they were all on edge since they all saw each other. Jason pushed back the hood on his head and crumpled up the wrapper from his meal. A heavy sigh came out of his throat as he scratched his head and then the back of his neck. The responses he got from the others in the room were rather hostile back which was his fault. Perhaps he should fix the bottles while they waited for the rain to stop or for Emma to wake up. A broken bottle and several shard rose into the air, the recognizable bottle part twisting around in the air as Jason tried to piece it together like a puzzle. It took concentration and energy to form something out of glass. Breaking it apart was the easy part because it could be done quick and without using their abilities.
Jason stopped in the middle of the process to look at the others. Perhaps he should say something. Jason glanced down at Emma as she made faces in her sleep and he smiled to himself. "Sorry I got hostile, it's just that most people we run into aren't the friendliest." The tall man stretched his arms over his head and then went back to working with the glass. The thoughts of staying a long time in there worried Jason but as long as Emma was safe, he was okay with the situation. Right now she was the most important person to him and she would always be. Friendships and relationships didn't last long out here after all, but having someone close was important.

Armise had to admit, it was strange hearing someone say his name. In fact, it felt like ages since he'd even been called by his first name anyways. At one point he had considered dropping it altogether, in accordance with the life he was leaving behind, but the name 'Armistice' was not well favored anywhere besides the east. Really, it was one of the many reasons why he stayed as far away from civilization as he could. That stuff was mad awkward, and also a confrontation he did not deal well with. Too tired.
Making a point to leave his gun alone, Armise clasped his hands together and brought them up to his mouth, eyebrows shooting up in mild surprise. Considering he hadn't been around people, he had also not been around mutations, and seeing them always made his insides buzz like an irritated fly. They didn't unsettle him, not like they used to a long time ago, but they brought back unpleasant thoughts that he'd slaved to bury. Chewing on his bottom lip, he watched them all with wide eyes, looking like he was frozen in place or in fear. "I uh...I can help if anyone needs..I just...needed to scavenge..." he trailed off uncertainly, brow furrowing as he drew in a tight breath. This really was an interesting group. The two with the glass powers, Jason and Emma, they reminded him of home- of the flashy and showy perfection that the east always paraded on posters and broadcasts. Jaime, on the other hand, reminded him of people he'd killed, people he'd buried. Connie still remained an enigma, but considering the distaste she showed for him, he could only assume the same. With an accent like that, he bet she was from Sierra.
"I'm not here to be unfriendly. Once the rain stops, I'm on my way," Armise said, seeming like he'd finally unscrambled his thoughts. He dropped his hands from his face, one still quite frozen, and tried another smile. "Although the storms this far out usually last awhile." He flashed Jaime a look of concern and dug a roll of bandages out of his pack, tossing it to him. "29, huh?" he muttered to himself, bringing a hand back to his chin. What year was it again?

Taking a drink from his canteen, Jason swept all the glass over to a pile so that no one accidentally stepped on it. He had been exhausted from all the walked he and Emma had done and this wasn't helping. The thought of just putting all the shards into a pouch and retying the pieces that still looked like bottles to his bag and onto Emma was enticing but he was fond of the sound they made. After he finished a bottle, Jason would tie it back onto whatever it had been fastened to and then start on the next. Some of the bottles were the small ones that Emma was so fond of which surprised him. Usually they used shards from the pouches on his belt loops or the bottles on his bag.
By the time he had fixed ten bottles of varying sized and returned them to their proper places, Emma had woken up and Armise had said his offer. "Want something to eat or drink?" Jason offered Emma, addressing her first. Emma just shook her head and unsteadily stood up before walking off to stretch her legs and wake up. Watching her leave, Jason looked at Armise and then at the bag with their supplies in it. "When the rain clears up me and Emma can scavenge with you. Also we are heading in that direction too towards Fort Kilo. It used to be around where our mom grew up before she moved. We wanted to take a look over there." If things were like this now, perhaps traveling with someone other than Emma would be helpful. A third person with them could make things easier.
Emma looked around as she listened to the sound of rain and the bottles on her clothes. Her right eye was covered by her hair giving her a blind spot not that she cared. Making sure to stick to the sheltered areas, she leaned up against the wall and looked out at the areas of the ruin she couldn't reach, the rain making it difficult to see things clearly. Her hand reached up to touch her goggles that rested against her collarbone, feeling lonely and sad. Her parents had given her and Jason those goggles and their jackets. It was the day before they died too. Shaking her head of those kinda of thoughts, Emma slid down the wall and rested her arms on her knees as she looked out at the rain.
