Tortoisepaw and the other apprentices started their way towards the thinner part of the jungle. Even over the humid, musky scents of the trees and the marsh, she could smell a tinge of saltwater in the distance. She sped up her pace without meaning until she was practically running to the shore with the tumeric clenched in her jaw.

... ↪ • Jasminepaw w/ Tortoisepaw, Vanillapaw | Indian Ocean shore near camp -- When she could see the white grain and water, Jasminepaw squealed and made a sprint for the sea. They hadn't come across anymore herbs they needed, but there was still the loop back where they could look, so she hadn't been carrying anything in her mouth yet. Tortoisepaw had the turmeric and Vanillapaw had the angelica, so they'd have to find a dry place to set them down where they wouldn't get wet.
Jasminepaw, however, immediately began splashing around in the very shallow water when she reached the shore before flopping right onto her back and let out a sigh of relief as the water seeped into her fur and across her sticky, hot skin. She blinked up at the clouds in the sky, hoping the incoming rain didn't start until after they could have their fun at the beach. "This feels great, you two. Come on in, the water's fiiiiine," the apprentice crooned as she wiggled around and soaked her pelt.

Vanillapaw ran to catch up with them, her tail waving in excitement. When they arrived, she relished she squishy sand under her paws, then glanced around for somewhere to put the herbs. There was a flat boulder far enough from the shore, but not too close to the forest where they could lose track of them. She padded up to it, putting the angelica gingerly across it, and flicked her tail at Tortoisepaw. “Let’s lay them here for now,” she said, then started toward the water. This could even help speed up the drying process.

Mintsong was casually grooming her fur. She was patiently waiting for her apprentice and the others to return with the herbs. She trusted Vanillapaw and knew she would return at any second. Things were peaceful though she liked to have extra herbs just in case. Warriors loved to come to her with injuries because of a duel or injuring themselves in the jungle.

"What more is there to learn about hunting?" Foxpaw asked as she trotted eagerly after her mentor. Hunting always seemed so straightforward -- you crouch, you wait, then you pounce. There were very slight variations, but everything seemed pretty much the same otherwise. The apprentice pushed her way through the camp's entrance and bounced ahead, beginning to face off into the territory. "I'm ready!"

Tortoisepaw laid the herbs down as instructed and started towards the shore when something caught her attention. A tiny noise. Her ear twitched and she turned to find nothing there. She couldn't see anything amiss. She tried to scent but all that she could smell was the tumeric and the saltwater. She stared back into the jungle, searching for a moment, before being enticed by the squeals of her clan mates. She turned and took off towards Vanillapaw and tried to bowl both herself and the medicine cat apprentice into the water.

"Good." Leopardhawk moves in the direction of the temple ruin. Along the way, she keeps her eyes out for predators. "What do you smell?" She asked glancing over her shoulder at Foxpaw. It was silly but she liked to know what her apprentice could smell.

( Aww, poor Fog :c )
Foxpaw trotted after mentor happily, looking around the jungle as they went. A few odd sounds here and there would spook her for a moment, but nothing seemed too dangerous. She thought maybe they were heading toward the Temple Ruin, but honestly, she was horrible with directions. The apprentice glanced up at her mentor's prompt and quickly parted her jaws to scent the air. Quail... Mouse... Nightingale... Her whiskers twitched, they were all old. That couldn't be what Leopardhawk was looking for. "There was an owl here earlier," Foxpaw finally mewed, the scent was growing more stale now and there were no sounds of it nearby. "And there was a rabbit here just recently!"

"Think you can track the rabbit and take it down?" Leopardhawk asked her tone a little teasing. She knew her apprentice was good and had no doubt she could. "I understand if you would rather catch something a little smaller or easier." She said rather casually.

CASHEWPAW . }
Cashewpaw had fallen back asleep after being up earlier in the day when he planned on checking for Orchidpool, his mentor. Instead, he grew so tired that he completely forgot about his plans and slipped into a deep slumber which he had only just woken up from. Blinking his icy blue eyes open, the apprentice glanced around the den in curiosity. It seemed that none of his denmates were around or he was too groggy to tell. With a big yawn, he lifted himself out of his comfortable nest and made his way out of the den. All he wanted to do was sleep, but it seemed that comfort would have to wait yet again.
Once the black, cream, and pale ginger feline was standing outside of the apprentice's den, his pale eyes adjusted to the lighting. Maybe he could find Orchidpool so they could train a bit or he could try to interact with a denmate of his. He hadn't seen Tortoisepaw and Jasminepaw since dusk which wasn't much of a surprise to Cashewpaw. Shrugging his soft shoulders, he padded in the direction of the clearing, hoping he'd find something to do.- - - THYMEPURR & TAMARINDFUR . }
Thymepurr was, to say the least, lazy. She was hardly motivated to move out of her nest most days and if she did, she would do her best to make up an excuse to get out of her duties. Today was not one of those day; it was a day she wished to be elsewhere, especially outside of camp. The temple was nice and all, though she'd rather go to the Blackmarsh or the Temple Ruin for a quick hunt. She was sure she could catch a plump mouse or two with all the energy she had in store for the past three sunsets.
She stood outside the warrior's den, contemplating on how she would complete the task she had in mind. The problem was that the Siamese wasn't fond of hunting alone during the day. Otherwise, she much preferred company over solitude. At the sight of Tamarindfur exiting the den, his medium-furred coat was ruffled in each way possible. A small mrrow of amusement came about before the tom turned around to face her. "Is something funny, Thymepurr?" he asked in a friendly tone, olive colored eyes lighting up.
"Just your pelt, Tamarindfur!" the she-cat responded quickly, licking at her chest fur. For some reason, he seemed intimidating to the younger feline. Then again, almost everyone was intimidating to Thymepurr.
The brown warrior's gaze flickered down to his chest then back up to the Siamese's light blue eyes. "Guess I'll have to fix it."
With that, he was off to do his own business and left the blue point alone to ponder again.- - - TEAKTUFT . }
In the meantime, Teaktuft found herself preoccupied with her meal. She had seen Crocodileblood and his brother, Twistedivy, together earlier but since she lost track of the two littermates. Her pale green eyes scoured the camp while she ate a small mouse which appeared glazed over. She was slightly tired due to a small trip she had taken outside of the camp to get some fresh air. As usual, she worked herself a tad too hard and ended up winded because she lost track of time while in the Blackmarsh. Long after, the brown tabby and white she-cat returned to camp for a short nap when she had spotted Crocodileblood.
After the guard slept for a bit, she woke up to find the camp hitting a moment of commotion. Apprentices bounded out of their den and went off with denmates or mentors, warriors went off to hunt or patrol. It was a common, every day happening but it was one Teaktuft basked in. It was a delight to observe in her opinion-- the prey was running and the clan was thriving. Finishing off her mouse, she caught a glimpse of Tamarindfur's pelt flashing by in an instant. A soft purr rumbled in the feline's throat as she dug a small hole to bury the mouse's bones in. Today wasn't so bad.

Twistedivy's whiskers twitched in amusement for a short while at his clanmates. However, in the distance, that sound returned. Was Orangeblossom really a wise choice for this patrol? Whatever he was hearing in the distance, it was much closer here than it was at the temple. They were heading straight for it... Would the shy shecat scream and give their position away when she and Porcupinepelt noticed?

Vanillapaw laughed as she was knocked into the water, sending a spray of water. She laid on her side in the water to where it came up to her chest, and she sighed happily. “This is much better than the humidity,” she agreed. There was another sound, similar to the one Tortoisepaw heard, but louder. Her ears swiveled toward the forest and her eyes widened. “What was that?” she muttered, glancing at her friends. Vanillapaw had no idea how to fight if anything were to happen.

"Of course I can catch that rabbit," Foxpaw retorted, stretching her paws out before her. She flexed her claws, digging them into the earth. There was a glint of determination in the depths of her eyes and the apprentice lashed her tail. "You'll see, Leopardhawk!" And so the apprentice took of in a quick prowl. Silent as she could manage, Foxpaw stalked through the jungle, her pale gaze flicking back and forth for any sign of movement. The rabbit's scent was growing stronger with each passing second - and then she saw it. Furry white tail wiggling as it nibbled at greenery on the ground. A smile curled Foxpaw's lip and she slipped around, trying to find the best angle. What the apprentice seemed to forget... The way the wind blew mattered. In a split second, the rabbit was back on its haunches, nose twitching wildly. That was when she realized her mistake. Bee-brain... At the same moment, both creatures took off, predator and prey now tearing through the forest.

"I thought something was out there..." Tortoisepaw murmured her eyes and ears were trained towards the treeline now. She knew coming out here with the medicine cat apprentice, without a warrior, was a mistake. "Vanilliapaw, stay in the water...whatever it is probably won't try to attack you away from the shore." She looked to Jasminepaw and flicked her tail in a follow me gesture. She crouched low and slowly began to stalk out of the water, her nerves tense as she waited for whatever threat had been watching them as they swam.
--
"You seem to be in a good mood today, Teaktuft." Crocodileblood chuckled as he approached the Guard. He felt a little uneasy still from sending Twistedivy out with a patrol but he was trying to trust his brother to help him lead the clan. The best thing to do was to take his mind off of it. "Are you up to go on a hunting patrol today? I'm trying to gather one up but everyone seems to be melting from the humidity."

... ↪ • Orangeblossom w/ Twistedivy, Porcupinepelt -- With flattened ears and a head ducked low to the ground, Orangeblossom was trying not to hear anything. All of the noises of the jungle were enough to spook her if they were close by. As she got older she learned to tune things out for the most part whenever she left camp, but there was an ominous sort of grumbling that began to happen and she whimpered. The more steps they took towards the Blackmarsh, the more present it got. Orangeblossom moved to sandwich herself between Twistedivy and Porcupinepelt.
--
• Jasminepaw w/ Tortoisepaw, Vanillapaw -- Jasminepaw's face was very obviously scrunched up in annoyance. Something was bustling around in the trees and now her fun was being interrupted. She gave a small hiss under her breath due to her easy irritance before stalking towards Tortoisepaw. All Vanillapaw needed to do was stay in the shallow water.
--
• Duckthorn requesting Thymepurr | camp -- Whereas Thymepurr typically didn't like doing anything due to a lack of energy, Duckthorn just didn't like being told what to do. She hid to be lazy, he hid to avoid older, bossy warriors. However, he was still very much energetic. He would gladly leave camp as long as it was on his own terms and he thought it peculiar that Thymepurr was actually sitting expectantly out in the open like she was awaiting orders for once.
There was an opportunity to tease and he slinked over towards her to take it. "Aw, are all the good hiding spots taken?" Duckthorn sneered as he encircled her once, practically wrapping his body around her like a snake before he took a couple steps away. "Orangeblossom was called out of the shadows and Jasminepaw crawled out of a spider-infested hole a while ago. Why don't you take one?"
