Rabbitpaw nodded, determination shining in her eyes. She had picked the forest specifically because she knew she had a hard time climbing up trees. And pine trees were the tallest, skinniest trees in the land. But she had complete faith in herself, and ran in the opposite direction toward the old Thunderpath. Instinctively, she glanced both ways, then dashed across like a fox was chasing her. Her legs continued until the clearing became dotted with trees, then an entire forest.
Muzzle in the air, the little apprentice scented the air for prey, trying to calm her breaths from running all the way there. Her eye caught a bird fluttering in the trees, and she looked up; a pretty robin preening its feathers on one of the lower branches. Quietly, Rabbitpaw gathered her haunches, eyeing the branch carefully, then sprang up. Instead of landing on the branch with the bird, she hit underneath it, managing to make no noise. She jumped again, landing on the branch above her, but it shook underneath her as it was thinner. The bird called in alarm and began taking off, but Rabbitpaw quickly leapt forward and snatched it out of the air in her jaws, killing it with a crunch. She slipped onto the lower branch, then hopped onto the ground. Pride threatened to burst her heart as she buried her first catch.

» i wanna adopt hollywing as like cedarfur's niece or one of his former apprentices it'd be super complicated cus like he has reason to be extra stern on her cus he's closer to her but he also has reason to be lenient with her at the same time «
Cedarfur brushed past Hollywing, leaving her with nothing more than an affectionate flick of his lace lichen-like tail. It was a simple gesture yet also a warning, one that spoke "stay out of trouble". As fond as he was of the young warrior, he didn't approve of her tendency to disobey direct orders. He would have to have yet another conversation with her when he wasn't busy.
As he strolled towards the camp's entrance, he took note of Leechpelt intercepting his pathway. He sped up a little in time to catch her brief conversation with Mumblestrem, and what he heard made his pelt grow warm.
"Dawnwatcher is kitting?" the tom asked as he stood next to his medicine cat. He glanced sideways at her to catch her reaction, confirming it to be true by the look in her eyes. His own eyes were aglow, both with excitement and worry.
He thanked StarClan for Mumblestream's willingness to drop everything for his mate. He'd barely parted his jaw before the she-cat was scurrying off to her den. Of course, he was going to insist that the ceremony can be postponed, but it seemed as if the quiet healer already knew that. His glance to Leechpelt was brief before he quickly trotted after Mumblestream, passing her as she entered the medicine den and heading straight for the nursery.
He slipped inside with ease. Usually, the tall deputy had issues with his height making the transition inside difficult, but his desire to be with his mate practically made him immune to the brambles scoring into his pelt as he went inside. His amber eyes met the beautiful, troubled gaze of his mate and made his heart sore.
"Dawnwatcher," he breathed, slowly making his way across the den to stand next to her. He gently lowered himself into her nest, wrapping his long body around her slender one and resting his paw on her shoulder. "I wouldn't miss this for the world," he reminded her calmly. He ran his tongue over her ear to comfort her as he felt her body quivering. He'd never seen her in so much pain before, and although he did a fairly decent job and keeping the worry out of his voice, his eyes were a little glazed. He was behind her though with her spine to his belly, keeping her from seeing his fearful expression.
He made it his priority to groom her ear and murmur reassurances on occasion as Mumblestream entered the den. He didn't want to be in the way of the medicine cat's work, so he made himself useful by trying to keep his mate calm. It was a first time for the both of them, so he wasn't quite sure how his mate could act during such a wondrous yet painful experience. So he kept his body slightly tense, ready to duck away from a frustrated bite or a claw if he had to.
"You're doing amazing," he murmured. He nuzzled her neck, but his eyes were concentrated on the nest. "They're going to be so beautiful. You're almost there." As if on cue, the firstborn kit slithered into the moss. Cedarfur's eyes lit up as he gazed upon the tiny tom. Their firstborn kit!
The second one seemed to be more of a hassle. As the second kit came into the world, a deep purr rumbled within Cedarfur's neck. "A fighter like her mother," he chuckled. He rose up from the nest just slightly, enough to stretch his neck over his mate to give their two kits a sniff. Upon Leechpelt leaving the den, he picked up on grooming the kits and freeing them of their sacks. "You're almost there, love."
He could feel his mate getting weaker as he settled back down into the nest. He pawed her side gently, somewhat imitating what Mumblestream had been doing. When Dawnwatcher's body slackened against him, he glanced into the nest and basked in the glory of three beautiful kits.
"I'm so proud of you," he murmured quietly to his sleeping mate. "You're going to be such an amazing mother."
If he hadn't known better, he would have panicked the moment her head hit the moss. However, he trusted Mumblestream deeply, and he was close enough to feel Dawnwatcher's chest rising and falling. Certain she wouldn't be waking any time soon, he slowly eased himself out of the nest and sat in front of his medicine cat.
It didn't take much to know that she felt unease about skipping the ceremony. "As soon as possible, of course," he reassured her. "But... not tonight. Not until Dawnwatcher has woken up and eaten. It's going to be a tough night for her, and I want to be here in case she needs anything." He met her eyes, a small frown on his own face. He knew what he was doing was wrong. He could only hope that StarClan would forgive him and understand where he was coming from.
Moving the subject onward, he surveyed her face and flicked his tail dismissively. "You look exhausted. Get some sleep while I look after her. I'll come get you if anything happens," he added in case she'd try to argue. He turned away from her and watched as the kits snuggled into his mate's belly. He and the clan will survive one night without nine lives, he told himself.
He settled back down into Dawnwatcher's nest and buried his nose into her fur.

Eventually the strange sensation of kneading paws against her stomach roused the exhausted shecat from her doze, ears twitching a little until at last her eyes began to peel open. A weak purr slipped from her lips as she shakily tried to lift her nose from the ground and nose at the kittens. Her eyes half closed but even then the delight was apparent in her gaze as she watched them nestle close to the soft fur of her underbelly. Touching her nose carefully into the little kit’s fur, using her leg to help cuddle them against her flank with a smile lighting her expression. For a moment it was as though she wasn’t aware anyone else was around her as the new mother greeted her newborns for the first time. Dawnwatcher perked her ears forward and chuckled exhaustedly at the sound of their tiny mewling, watching them squirm and kick as the little creatures competed for space at her side. Stretching out, it was only when her spine brushed against his that she noticed her mate was still there. Looking back, she nuzzled his cheek with a soft purr. “You should have gone to get your lives,” she said quietly and the worry lit her tone in spite of her mate’s surety, the young queen was less than certain. “But thanks,” she admitted with a meek sigh. Thankful for his strength during her ordeal, she pressed close to him.
Returning her attention to their three newborns with a twitch of her black tipped ears, she let out a soft rumbling purr. “They’re perfect, aren’t they?” She asked, though glancing to the medicine cat for assurance of what she had said. Inexperienced with anything to do with kittens, especially ones that were hers and she feared doing even the slightest thing wrong. She treated the kits as though they might break under her slightest touch, they seemed so small and fragile, but more perfect and beautiful than she could ever imagine.

Mumblestream smiles and purred softly at her glance. “They’re perfectly healthy as well,” she assured her. Then she looked to Cedarfur and dipped her head. Even without the lives, he was still her leader, and if he hadn’t mentioned it she would have been up all night with worry. “Of course, Cedarfur,” she mewed, then rose to her paws and fell into a deep stretch. She trusted him to tell her of any mishaps, but she was sure it would be fine.
However, as she padded to her own den, she wondered what StarClan would think. He couldn’t get his lives until tomorrow evening, at the earliest. And the Clan would figure out that he didn’t leave; what would they say? Mumblestream supported his decision, of course, but their Clanmates were another story.

( Aɪʀ niece is probably best, since it also gives a hint of inexperience in dealing with her. He'd have a much better handle on her if she'd been his apprentice. Also, forgive the shortness. I was up til 12:30 am with discourse and then had to get up at 7:30 am for work. Just got back and I'm... drowsy lmao) > Hollywing - Camp < Hollywing sneezed lightly as his tail brushed by her nose, glancing over her shoulder as he left to see Dawnwatcher. She felt bad, knowing he had the stress of new kits along with becoming leader, and yet it wasn't her fault that all this was happening at once. Discovery was important, and what better discoveries could be made than by asking Starclan themselves? >Rapidlash - Camp < Rapidlash slunk into camp ahead of Stormchaser, after the pair had finished burying their old leader. It had been sad to place her body in the hole and slowly cover it dirt and plants. Her paws were still slightly muddy from being near the lake, and she was having a hard time focusing on anything else. She glanced around camp, trying to spot Cinderpaw as she came through the entrance. A training session might help take both their minds off. She froze, catching a whiff of Cinderpaw's scent fresh in the entrance. Had the apprentice left camp without permission? It was hard to tell, under the heavy mix of her clan's combined scent, and she wanted to be sure, so she padded to the apprentice's den, shoving her head in. Nobody was inside, and she glanced around camp again, trying to catch a glimpse of the younger cat.

» Unfortunately, school is starting which means Ghey is gonna be super busy <//3 They let me know that they're gonna be gone from the clan, so we will have to pass Talonkit to a different RPer, or just make a new kit entirely?
also sorry if this is a little short. one minute i'm beaming with ideas and the next i have writer's block aaaa;; «
"They're beautiful," Cedarfur purred in agreement.
After dipping his head to Mumblestream, he ducked down to give each kit a small lick on the head. "I'd do anything for you. Don't worry so much, okay?" He purred deeply, nuzzling them all in turn. He couldn't begin to express how happy being a father made him feel. He glanced up at his mate, his amber gaze beaming. "Have you thought of any names?" he asked her. He'd been so busy the past few days with ordering patrols and maintaining order, along with Heatherstar's sudden death, that he hadn't quite contemplated the matter of kit names.

Grumbling softly, a chuckle slipping from her lips as the kits mewed and squeaked beneath his touch and she helped tuck the tiny creatures back beside her flank as they squirmed. "I have a mousebrain like you for a mate," her words were hoarse but her eyes were bright with laughter and affection. "I can't help but worry so much, I might as well have four kits," she burried her nose into the fur of his shoulder, resting it across his bulky frame. Wrapping her tail around the kits, she seemed more content than she had ever felt in her life, even if the prsopects of motherhood was worrisome. Casting her gaze back to the kits with a small grin, "I haven't really thought about it," she admitted rather sheepishly. Toying with the first born tom's ears in an affectionate manner, purring as he kneaded closer to her. The last few days had been busy and panicked, she hadn't had time to think. "What were you thinking?"
(I heard, hope she's doing ok. I'll see if anyone else wants one?)

With pride still coursing through Cinderpaw's body and giving him an exhilarating rush, the tom found a spot a bit off the course of the moorlands where he had come from and buried his first catch. Looking up at the sky, the sun was still high indicating to him that he still had enough time to stalk the moorlands for two or three more kills before sundown began and the apprentices needed to return back to camp with plenty of freshkill to feed the entire clan. "Rapidlash might be a little upset that I left without him but once he sees that rabbit I know he'll just have to be proud," he thought, talking himself out of any worry he might have felt about the consequences of leaving camp unattended. And, at least Rabbitpaw was facing the same fate he was so Cinderpaw wasn't alone.
Creeping back into the thick grass of the moorlands, Cinderpaw decided to try to hunt farther in near some old and abandoned rabbit dens. Inhaling the muggy but oddly sweet air, the apprentice couldn't manage to sniff out any signs of life. Feeling the wind through his long coat, he realized quickly that the air was hitting him from his left side and that his tail had somehow gone from being latched onto his side to swinging up in the air like a fence post. "Shoot," he hissed under his breath, tucking his tail back and adjusting his position to be more favorable to the winds. The apprentice let out a slow breath to relax, hoping that he hadn't ruined his chances when he began to hear a crunching noise in the distance. His breathing shallow and heart pumping fast, the tom looked around wide-eyed for the source of the noise. He knew that whatever it was wasn't close enough to him to easily stalk, but the fact that he could hear it meant there was life at least, and that was good enough for him. Cinderpaw strained his ears to pick out the noise of the tiny creature and hypothesized that it was likely chewing on a nut or seed burrowed in the grasses. This was going to be tough, but he was surely not going to give up. Finally identifying the direction of the noise, he stalked forward very slowly, maybe even too slowly - he didn't want to lose the catch but the chances of him accidentally brushing the grass too much with his long pelt or his paws accidentally crunching dry undergrowth was high from where he crouched and where the noise was. With steady determination he continuing creeping up towards the creature and soon he heard the crunching just ahead of him. Lowering himself even farther towards the ground till his belly brushed dirt, Cinderpaw trained his eyes on a small mouse. "I gotcha'," he thought happily, wiggling his haunches a bit as he prepared for the killing pounce. Gathering up his energy the apprentice leaped through the air and came crashing down into the grass with jaws wide open and claws extended, hoping with every fiber in his body that he had correctly measured out his pounce.
"I knew I should have waited longer to pounce," he thought with disappointment streaked across his face. He had ultimately missed the kill by a whole two mouse-lengths, and all he had managed to catch was a sharp pebble that had left a small but deep cut in one of his front paw-pads. Not accepting his defeat yet but still filled with dismay, Cinderpaw did his best to perk up and think up a new plan to catch at least one more creature. "Okay Cinderpaw, what are we going to do?" He talked to himself as if he were brainstorming with an old friend. "Let's start walking towards the ancient oak and see what we can find along the way, okay?" he told himself, nodding like he was in agreement with himself. Uncovering the rabbit so he wouldn't have to come back to the moorlands again, he was on his way.

Rabbitpaw continued through the forest, keeping her muzzle up to scent for prey. Hopefully it was something on the ground this time. The mud and pine tree smells were overwhelming, but she pushed through it until she spotted a squirrel nibbling on a seed a few foxlengths away. Eyes wide, she lowered to the ground, trying to keep her body from hitting the forest floor. As she crept closer, the excitement in her chest grew bigger, and it was a challenge to keep her tail. When she got close enough, and the squirrel still hadn’t seen her, she bunched her hindquarters to jump; her tail swisher and hit a bundle of grass. The squirrel squeaked and scurried up the closest tree.
Oh, no you don’t! Rabbitpaw hissed in her head, charging after the squirrel. But the rodent was halfway up the tree by the Roman she got to it, and the branches were too high. As she grumbled under her breath and stalked away, she wondered if having front legs would have let her get up the branch and get it. But there wasn’t time to think on that now - she had a Clan to feed. She shook out her fur and continued further into the pine trees.

[[ Hey, sorry for my inactivity, I've been kind of distracted these past few days. I hate to admit it, I've sadly lost interest in roleplaying. I though I've found my spark again, but it seems not to be the case. I'm going to take my leave from this Clan... and probably this site again in general. Oh well. I guess I just moved on. I enjoyed the time I had here and I wish you guys farewell. Thank you for understanding <3 ]]
