Jude had grown up on a farm. Twolegs liked farm cats, he'd found. And it was a better living than kittypets had, as far as he was concerned! Pretending to be owned by a lesser creature - especially one as confusing and dangerous as a twoleg - was not something Jude had on his to-do list.
That morning, the sun glittered on his black pelt as he padded through the long grass. He leapt over the rotted fence in a swift bound, landing gracefully and scenting the air. He didn't often go beyond the fenceline; this was no longer his territory. There were other cats that lived here. He'd heard stories about them, about their customs and beliefs. He'd also heard that they didn't take kindly to strangers, but that wasn't going to put him off. Jude was a well-fed cat, and he was sure he could take on any skinny forest-dwellers he happened to come across.
Strong scents caught his attention, prey and cat alike. The trees thickened around him, and he realised he'd padded further and further into the forest. He'd never been this far before.
A twig cracked in the oak branches above him, and the thick-furred tom glanced up, ears flattened. It was only a sparrow. And it had been a few hours since his last mouse... His belly rumbled, and he turned towards the tree trunk. A quick hunt would do him good, he decided.

Featherstep padded through the thick undergrowth of her clan's territory, her tail lashing and her face scowling. She had just finished an unpleasant conversation with a clan mate which had left her absolutely fuming, and the silver tabby she-cat needed a walk outside of camp to clear her head. As she walked casually through the forest she soon started to calm down. The sounds of birds singing and the gentle push of the wind never failed to lull Featherstep when she was upset. The she-cat paused beneath a sunlit spot of the forest and let the sun soak into her fur. She let out a contented sigh. This is nice... I really needed this. A sudden snap above jerked Featherstep from her thoughts. She whipped her sky blue gaze to the trees above her as she tried to locate the sound, and the warrior relaxed when she found a sparrow sitting above her on the long branch of an oak tree. The she-cat grinned to herself as a thought crossed her mind. Hm, a little hunting should do me some good... Featherstep flexed her claws and headed for the sparrow's tree, completely unaware of the loner tom hunting the same bird on the opposite side of the towering oak.

Featherstep flexed her claws and headed for the sparrow's tree, completely unaware of the loner tom hunting the same bird on the opposite side of the towering oak. Jude felt a light purr rumbling in his throat as he approached the trunk. He moved on silent paws, eyes and ears fixed on the bird above him with complete and utter concentration. The world around him faded to that one point of focus. Birds had always been a favourite for him. It was probably because of the challenge they posed; he very rarely managed to catch one at all. Mice were easy, especially in his barn, and around the old hay sheds. He'd even settled for rats on a few occasions. But a sparrow! That was exciting. He eyed the trunk warily, claws sheathing and unsheathing as he looked for an easy path up. He was by no means a good climber, but he knew a good tree when he saw one. Maybe if I go around the other side... he thought to himself, circling slowly around the trunk. It wasn't until she was a foxlength ahead of him that he actually noticed the tabby warrior. He went stock still, fur fluffing out in a combination of alarm and intimidation tactics. But he said nothing. The sparrow was still pecking happily at the branches above them, and he wasn't about to lose it to some forest cat!

Featherstep's focus was only on the sparrow above her, and because of it she completely missed the loner coming around the tree and spotted her. Still oblivious to the tom, Featherstep launched herself up the side of the tree, and in one graceful bound she rested on top of a low hanging branch. Her long, plumy tail swished below her as she prepared to leap again. You're going to make someone really happy as a meal, little bird! She thought as she sprang upwards, blissfully unaware of the loner still with her.

Jude watched, standing stock still, eyes fixed on the she-cat above with something akin to fear in their green depths. This quickly turned to annoyance, however, when he realised what he was actually seeing. She was going to take his bird! He bristled, lip curling in frustration. There was no way he was about to let this happen. Forgetting any pretence of wariness or respect in other cats' territory, he tipped his head back and gave a loud yowl, fully intending to startle the bird away. "That's mine, honey!" he called, tail lashing, "And if it can't be mine, it sure isn't gonna be yours!"

Featherstep was bounding up the oak branch by branch, skillfully closing the distance between herself and the unsuspecting bird. Almost... there...! Featherstep could practically taste the juicy prey in her mouth by the time the loner tom introduced himself. Loudly. Featherstep was startled by the sudden outburst and had to dig her claws into her branch so she didn't tip over. "Foxdung!" she cursed as she watched the sparrow squawk an alarm before fluttering away out of reach. She gazed down at the cat who ruined her chance to catch the long gone sparrow. From this distance she couldn't tell who it was, and with an annoyed growl she started to descend back down the oak. "You mousebrain! What was that for?" she started saying as she finally leaped back onto solid ground. "I'll make sure the leader knows his own warriors are-" her new cut off as she came face to face with the loner. Her eyes widened and she gasped is surprise. She didn't recognize this cat, and his scent wasn't of a clan cat. What the- ... a rogue! Her pelt bristled. "This is (blah idk)Clan territory, rogue. You're trespassing." Featherstep spat, her claws unsheathed in case the tom decided to become violent.

Jude waited with a highly self-satisfied expression as the she-cat made her way down the tree once more. She was good at it, he'd admit that to himself, though it was only out of a prickly jealousy. When she reached the ground before him, he felt his hackles raise once more. It was all well and good to give her cheek when she was so far off, but now... Now he was thinking that perhaps the forest cats were larger and more intimidating than he'd expected. They didn't look like the kittypets he always sent running with a claw or two. He stood his ground, however, and puffed his chest out. "I don't know what you're talking about. Besides, I had my eye on that bird."

Featherstep has dealt with intruders on the territory before. She'd trained hard as an apprentice and had never lost a fight to any outsiders before. But then Featherstep had the rest of her clanmates by her side, and now she was all alone with this tom. Worry pricked at her pelt, but she tried not to let it show. She was going to have to be fiercesome if she wanted to ward off the rogue. Her ears went flat on her head and she flexed her claws. "(Whatever)Clan owns this territory and rogues aren't allowed here." Featherstep said in a low growl. "That bird was on our territory, so that WAS my prey you just scared off like a wailing kit!"

Pyro wasn't having much luck, his pelt stuck out against the ground and he wasn't the quietest cat.He had been trying to find as much food as he could since the encounter with the bear.He was rounding a rock when he heard a couple cats up ahead. He decided to turn around but he stepped on a thorn while turning around. How he missed it before,he didn't know but he found it now.He let out a yowl of pain.

(lol should we just say it's thunderclan to make it easier?)
"A wailing kit!" Jude spat, clearly irate now. He'd never been particularly good at keeping his cool in difficult situations... "I don't give a rat's tail about your Clan. There's prey here, and I was hungry!" He lashed his tail. "Besides, what sort of cat lives in groups? You're not lions you know - " He was cut off by what he thought, in the moment, was yet another Clan cat come to skin and eat him. So the fact that he jumped several feet in the air and had all his fur bush out was totally warranted! "Is this an ambush?" he cried, now sounding far less confident. "I didn't even do anything!"

Pyro decided he would try to cut tension so walked out with his paw sticking up with a thorn in it."If I were a clan cat I don't think I would be sneaking around."
