I made a 4th of July drawing and was wondering if one of you fine artists could help me on it??? It's my first time trying a bottom-view angle and I dunno if it came out any good. Critique on anything, the pose, the shading (it came out all lazy and horrible so you might want to save your typing), the fireworks, anything. www.deviantart.com/thatsnomoon607/art/Happy-4th-Of-July-Speedpaint-753204035You can't really see some parts in the drawing itself, so here's the speedpaint -

Yeah, I kept thinking it wasn't dark enough, because it's at NIGHT and the only light was coming from the fireworks, darn it me.
I normally do cel shading to give it a sharper look, but *pfft* who needs cel shading at 8:00 in the morning?
thanks for the critiiiiiique ^^

PawsI love the idea and the pose! I think that the lineart is solid and that the colors on the character are nice. Personally, I think the background is just a little too flat for fireworks. I think that the moon is too bright and full, and that it kinda draws away from the fireworks that seem more muted and murky in the background. The character's pointing directly at the moon, a straight diagonal across the piece, so it will naturally draw people's eyes to it. Also, I would've tried to make it bluer than black in the darkest parts of the background. Shading-wise, when I see pictures of people with fireworks and even drawings, there tends to be a sharper backlit effect. The shading doesn't imply fireworks but just the moon's light imo, so it again draws away from the celebration effect. Besides that, I really like the composition and you did a good job on the angle!
