Foxstep gave a soft smile at the leaderβs encouraging words. She glanced back at the apprentices, her ears dropping slightly, βIβm just worried about them...I donβt want Stormpaw or Firepaw trying to avenge Frostpaw. Jasminefoot doesnβt need to lose anymore kits.β She looked back at Skystar, unsure of what to say. She knew she just told them theyβd win but she still couldnβt shake the lingering fear out of her.

Hazelshine looked around her to make sure Firepaw was still with her. Then she caught sight of Softlight ushering his kits further into the den. "Come on, we'll help defend the nursery," she said before making her way toward the makeshift den. After Frostpaw's death, she wanted to make sure now more than ever that Firepaw was safe during the battle.

Foxstep smiled at Palepaw, βStay by my side too, okay? We can help guard the medicine den.β Grackle crept back into his den and got to work making his toxins. βNo.β Was the firsts words out of Megβs mouth, she didnβt know mean for it to slip out but she wasnβt sure how vengeful these clan cats were. βWeβll ask Shadow about that...letβs go.β She nodded to Germaine before following him. Stormpaw exhaled sharply, his obvious relief showing on his face. The two she-cats that meant the most to him outside of kin would be with him for the battle. There would be no need to imagine horrors facing them; he'd be right there to see it all. I won't let a tick-bitten rogue lay even a whisker on them. He vowed to himself silently. The young tom turned to Palepaw, seeing her dilute tortoiseshell face shining in the sunhigh light, and to him the pale glow was the closest thing to a starclan cat he had seen. His eyes stayed a moment too long before flickering away to Foxstep. "We'll do our best. I've kept up with my training best as could be, but this is the first battle I've fought in." His gaze darkened. "The first battle since Frostpaw.." Palepaw touched her muzzle warmly to Stormpaw's cheek. "It'll be alright," she reassured him, her voice steady. When she pulled away she smiled at him. "It's my first battle, too, you know. We just gotta stick together." Her eyes felt like they locked onto his, and something flip-flopped in her stomach... whatever that was. She motioned her head toward the medicine den. "Let's go."

Sweetie blinked as the squirrel ran away, then let out a faint hiss. She turned to the source of the noise that drove it away, recognizing Germaine. She opened her mouth to give him an earful, but then he spoke. "Really?" she asked, although she knew very well what they planned on doing. It was time to take the clearing in front of the cave. She lashed her tail a few times. "Will I get to fight?" Germaine gave the kit a sad look, his mouth gaping a bit. "I'm not sure about that one." He meowed, turning to Meg as he heard her small denial. The yellow gaze he saw was so intent on Sweetie, so full of sadness and defense. With a sigh, he lead the two back to the abandoned dog kennel. If the tom were honest with himself, the prospect of facing the clan cats again filled him with dread. However, the adrenaline of knowing a battle was ahead of them pulsed through him, making his paw pads burn intensely. His legs carried him quicker than intended back to Shadow. "Got them." He mewed, not meeting her eyes and forcing a wide smile. Sweetie grumbled under her breath but didn't respond out loud, and followed the others back to the kennel. She was just as big as the other young cats fighting in GroveClan, why couldn't she do the same? She lashed her tail as they stood in front of Shadow, waiting for her instruction.

Daisybug returned with the herbs in her mouth and laid them down between her and Marigoldpaw, along with a large wad of cobwebs. "I know you haven't any medicine training," she said, keeping her voice low and calm. "So when I bring an injured cat over, all I want you to do is press down on any bleeding wounds with cobweb. It'll soak up the blood and hopefully a lot of the poison." She caught her apprentice's eye. "Can you do that for me?" ((daisybug's just doing Her Best)) ily daisybug]
Marigoldpaw sighed heavily and nodded sharply to her mentor. She was hoping she could do it, and not freeze from all that she knew was going to be on around her. "Uhm... what about...if their cats get hurt?" she said almost silently. She wasn't sure just who Daisybug was going to bring over to her, and wasn't exactly certain on what to do. She had yet to share tongues with StarClan, and hoped they wouldn't be frustrated at her for her confusion.Daisybug paused for a moment. Then she shook her head. "We won't worry about them. They have their own medicine cat," she said. Or... whatever they want to call him, she added to herself. She wasn't even sure that cat did anything but harm other cats. "Right now, I'll only bring over our Clanmates. I'll be here to help you the whole time, I promise." She could understand her apprentice's fear - the same fear she felt when Paintstream was attacked by foxes. But she had Whisperwing with her, and Marigoldpaw would have Daisybug.

Her eyes were wide and her paws shook with adrenaline. They were coming back. Those monsters who killed her brother like he was a toy. She remembered who it was too, an eerily black cat with long legs. Jasminefoot was at the entrance of the nursery, she was frail and skinnier then usual. But her determined face hadnβt gone and she stood by it with her claws unsheathed and ready

Shadow barely nodded to Germaine before turning to Meg, a large smile plastered to her muzzle. "It's really going to happen today." She whispered in excitement, her whiskers quivering. "Today all of our struggles will come to fruition. Our family will have a home!" She stared at Meg, awaiting a response from the smaller calico with beaming yellow eyes. Meg had been with her through it all, from the very first scrap over a chicken bone with a mangy loner all the way to having a close-knit, rag-tag group of cats to call family. After a few gaping moments, Shadow continued in an uncharacteristically enthusiastic manner. "Once Grackle gets the poison ready we'll be dashing to that Moonpool clearing to claim our prize! There's no way a bunch of sick clan cats could say no to saving their clanmates' lives." ((@fortunata))

"We'll make sure that won't happen," Skystar replied, his eyes unwavering. He watched Hazelshine take Firepaw towards the nursery, and figured that would be the best decision to keep her out of most of the battle. He hoped that, if the rogues had any decency, they wouldn't go after the kits of all things. "I'll stay here with you to protect the medicine den."

"O-okay," Marigoldpaw replied, loudly but still uncertain. She would have to focus now, on only her clanmates. She had faith that they'd watch her back as she remained in the center of the circle, her back turned to work on those that Daisybug brought to her. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to tell herself that, no matter want, don't turn around.

Cactusclaw watched as the kits were herded into the den.It seemed like even though they were so young and small they wanted to know and understand what was happening. He looked to the sky once more to see the stars. He often wondered if they were watching over the other clans besides this one.According to Brokennose and Waterfur before they left, they had been sent to another clan by their Starclan. "Ever thought that perhaps we'll see friends outside the clan again?" "Yes," Softlight said. However, he answered with his mate, Stormtangle, in mind. He thought of her wonderful, flowing brindle pelt in the breeze, her dark coat standing against the dried yellow foliage in a large clearing. In his mind he could hear the rustling of branches and leaves blowing, her eyes on him as she looked back at him from a distance, seemingly waiting for him to join her."Not exactly what I meant but I guess that works."Cactusclaw replied, knowing who he was referring to.It was only natural for him to think of Stormtangle when asked about Starclan."I hope you don't have to soon."He sighed. (Have they found out about Casper yet?

It was done. This was truly his best work. βShame there isnβt enough for us all.β Grackle sighed before he crept out his den, reeking of poison. He walked passed all the rogues, ignoring Meg who only gave him a scowl. He assumed it was of the toxic odor that stained his oily fur but it was her growing annoying with him instead. Every since he killed that kit, sheβd been growing more and more detached from the group. She didnβt know what to do anymore, especially now that Rowanheart was in the picture. Grackle walked up to his leader and gave an ugly purr, βIβm done.β
Foxstep let out a sweet purr to Skystar, βIβd hate to keep you here. I feel you should be up front and leading us into battle.β There was a small rustle in the bushes, causing her to jump to her paws and lash out her tail. Only for it to be a harmless mouse. Her ears dropped with embarrassment and she sat back down against Skystar, βWhat if theyβre watching us right now? They can ambush us at any given moment...β

"If it is StarClan's will.." Softlight began, but his words drifted off as he could feel the atmosphere of the camp getting heavier and heavier, almost to a point where it began to weigh him down at his shoulders, like he was being pinned. "Everyone is restless... any moment now and our lives will change forever."
[No they don't What is known is that he was a rogue leader a long time ago until his mate and kit died, then he became a loner. He casanova'd the clan kitties and I don't think that Robin/Whisper know that he fathered all of their kits. Also, the rogues know that Casper's kits are in the Clan, and he offered some info and a few cats for help as long as they didn't harm his kits]

Skystar chuckled. "I want to be by your side," he replied quietly. "Besides, we are the ones being charged at. There's no way I could lead a battle at this point. I want to be here, in our home. If their blood stains this ground, it'll be proof of our sacrifices and determination as a Clan. They wouldn't dare come back."

"Hey," he meowed to Palepaw, stopping in his tracks. "There's already a lot of cats here, and I only see Jasminefoot over at the nursery." He motioned with his head over where his mother, frail and helpless looking, stood with determination glinting in her eyes. "I think we'd be of more use there." He knew his motives were biased. She wouldn't be able to stop herself from trying to avenge him. An act like that will get her killed. I can't let that happen.

Rowanheart gave Dovecould a half-hearted smile. "Okay," He meowed, turning once more to the apprentices. "Now's time one of you went. Tumblepaw," He beckoned his apprentice with a nod of his head. "You come over here with me." Tumblepaw blinked, padding over to his mentor and standing in front of him. He looked at Rowanheart expectantly, waiting for him to give him a signal. He wanted to act confident, but couldn't prevent his eyes from widening with uncertainty.Rowanheart wiggled his haunches down into a pouncing position, his tail held erect in the air. He could sense his apprentice's lack of confidence, and hoped it wasn't reflected in his own. "Alright Tumblepaw," He meowed, locking eyes with his apprentice. "When I tell you to go, I want you to use one of the moves Dovecloud and I just demonstrated on me."

He stared intently at his leader, although something seemed to wrench in his stomach at the idea of using a poison that killed in one strike. At least they didn't have to hurt the younger cats this time; the memory of him and Grackle hurting those two apprentices moons ago still lingered in his mind, and it only seemed to get worse. It's for the good of the group, he told himself. We'll finally have land to take care of ourselves. However, the look he gave Meg didn't seem so sure anymore.

She knew she was a lot younger than the other cats, but she definitely wasn't a kit anymore! It already sucked that she didn't get to have the poison.

Tumblepaw looked back at his mentor, hardening his gaze. His tail flicked briefly before he ran at Rowanheart, darting side to side. Rowanheart allowed himself to be hit, bracing himself as his apprentice's paw struck across his face. Stepping back, the tom couldn't help but chuckle. "That was pretty good for your first try!" He praised. "Now, try again but with more force. Really feel your own power as you make each strike." Rowanheart hoped his words were getting through to Tumblepaw. Fear coursed through him as he remembered the scream of Jasminefoot as she wailed over the loss of her kit. He hadn't been anywhere near camp and the sound had reverberated off of the flood waters. Things would end in the wails of many queens if he and Dovecloud didn't teach them quick enough.

Shadow had completely forgotten about Sweetie. Her ears flattened as she turned to the kit, heart dropping a bit. She's so young, she shouldn't be so excited over this! Hawkjaw cut his eyes at Marigoldpaw, wondering if they should speak in front of her. What she doesn't know now, she'll know later. Might as well get it over with. "What are we supposed to tell the rogues. Who is going to approach them?" His voice showed tinges of anger, his tail-tip slightly flicking. The anxiety of battle was getting the better of him, bringing on his stone-cold personality that showed itself on very few occasions.
