hey all! opening this plot again mhm
so here it goes
this plot could be described in multiple ways and contains multiple genres so hopefully someone likes it
setting: europe somewhere
time period: hmm 1990s are my sweet spot so this one is pretty set in stone sorry i don't do "modern" stuff
what it entails, aka, a sneak peek: sailing on a ship (for like 10 minutes rp time lol), fantasy themes (as in characters with powers so cool and monsters so not cool), an old-fashioned bff relationship that could turn into something more, an on-the-run type of lifestyle, and plenty of action and excitement and angst and cuddles omg, possible love triangle woop (though I don't want that to be the sole focus, it's just one possible path on this road)
this plot is based primarily off of the miss peregrine's home for peculiar children books, but that doesn't necessarily make it a fandom plot bc I'm very flexible, especially since I don't really have a defined villain for this yet and don't exactly plan on this happening the same way the books went. Honestly, I would prefer if we could pretend that timeline never happened, and write something of our own. ( I love brainstorms! ) I would just wanna include the hollows and stuff 'cause they're invisible and that's scary af
the plot/a little background: character A and character B have been basically inseparable since they were five, when they met in a foster home in derry, ireland. long story short, by the time they were turning ten, unfortunately no one was hopeful about them getting adopted. Nothing they did, just some kids are not as lucky as others. around this time, weird things started happening around the two. character A (your character) found she could make people do things that she wanted them to, little things like steal a cookie from the kitchen and give it to her. character B (my character) was repeatedly accused of "shocking" people, including his best friend (who tried to protect him anyway). five more years passed in the foster home with them trying to figure out their abilities and growing in strength, not knowing why they could do the things they could. two more years passed before the first invisible monster attacked, destroying the home and devouring children. A and B were luckier that day, escaping and hiding in the library across town. they stayed there for two days, a peculiar librarian recognizing them for what they were: special, in danger. given a single backpack full of clothes, food, water, and a very helpful book, they were sent on their way again, knowing it wasn't safe to stay with a hollow in the town. the roleplay would start in portrush, as our characters have made it to the coast and look to stow aboard a ship headed for the strand at portpatrick in the u.k. naturally, things go wrong pretty quickly.
to clarify some points: my character, B, has powers that behave like an AED, essentially, though he cannot control it. anything living that he touches will feel something similar to a shock which functions to restart their heart's electrical rhythm, which is good for someone in cardiac arrest or has ventricular fibrillation, but not so good for someone whose heart is beating normally. depending on how long the physical contact lasts, he could stop a heartbeat permanently, and has no idea whether or not he can reverse the process. your character, A, can control minds. this does not necessarily mean that she can read them, because that's creepy, but she can force people to do anything, which allows her a limited access to their emotions for a short time, though she isn't sure whether or not controlling someone has an effect on their long-term mental capacity (read: sanity). in essence, they work well together because they've discovered that she can, in a way, turn off his power by simply telling him not to shock her, if the situation is desperate. otherwise, she avoids doing it as much as she can. their goal, at the moment, is to find something called an 'ymbryne', because the book that the librarian gave them says it means safety, and though they aren't really children anymore, they don't know what else to do.
there you have it, that's what I got. also please be aware that I would like someone who considers themselves to be an advanced writer, like 1000 words average per post. ofc I like to think I'm super chill bc quality over quantity and I understand being lazy like I'm so lazy also not the most active person so no worries but you know some expectations when it comes to roleplaying otherwise I get bored I'M SORRY
if you have questions or ideas or interest, don't be shy! i have a starter and a character all ready to go for the willing soul
so here it goes
