OOC: RP: Morningpaw waited impatiently for someone to take her out hunting. She had already groomed herself and wast anxious to get out of camp. She kneaded the ground lightly with her paws (a habit she had picked up as kit) and stared around the slowly waking hollow.

Well since i added bluewave, i might as well use her lol) Bluewave had been sitting in camp listening to what was going on. She had overheard cricketsongs and Grasswhistles conversation and was about to join them when she noticed Morningpaw kneading the ground impatiently. Her whiskers twitched in amusement before she walked over to the young fledgling and said, “ Im assuming your looking for someone to go hunting with?”

OOC: Rp: Morningpaw perked up her ears at the sound of Bluewave's voice. She stopped the motion of her paws and chuckled a little, "I'd love to get out of camp." She hadn't been out at all that day, and was looking forward to the quiet serenity of the forest in the early morning. Morningpaw lifted herself off the ground, dusted herself off and started to head towards the exit of camp. "So where should we go?"

Bluewave followed after the young apprentice, laughing at the young cats sudden excitement. Her response was, "I think I will let you decide for today. I think im just going to watch how you do, and see if I can correct anything you do wrong on the way." Bluewave had decided on this when she observed the young cats impatientness earlier. If she was to be a good hunter, she needed to show that she could control that, and this was the best way to observe that.

OOC: Rp: "I know a spot near the western border that I haven't hunted in a while. It's a little compact out there but there's less room for the prey to run to," Morningpaw noted.

Cricketsong nodded. "I suppose you're right. I'm just a bit too shy to get to know someone new, you know?" Repost) Grasswhistle nodded in understanding, idly chewing one of his claws. "You? Shy?" He started, nudging his denmate. "Say it ain't so!" He purred, tail twitching in his amusement.

OOC: Rp: "I know a spot near the western border that I haven't hunted in a while. It's a little compact out there but there's less room for the prey to run to," Morningpaw noted. Bluewave nodded her head in agreement. The young cat was right. The western border was usually filled with prey at this time of day, and its terrain usually helped hunters more then the prey. She replied, "Sounds good, lead the way."

Brightfur quickly got back onto his paws. He took a moment to steady and compose himself, before launching himself at the fox, knocking it onto the ground. He lunged forwards, going for its throat, but just about missed. The fox twists and turns, knocking brightfur away from it. Once it got back to its feet, it now had a good look at the cats it was fighting. It noticed that the black cat was staying near the cat the fox had originally tried to attack. It growled, still not willing to give up the fight.

OOC: Rp: Morningpaw straightened up at the approval of an older warrior. She was also happy to be heading to the western border because it was much closer to camp than other spots. Morningpaw always made sure to have an escape route ready, because she knew there was little chance of holding her own in a fight.

The two of them arrived at the hunting location rather quickly. Bluewave immediately starting smelling the scents of many prey around them. At Habit, she started choosing which would be the best to target, and was waiting to see which ones the fledgling would pick to go after first. While her ears and nose was focused on the prey, she kept her eyes on Morningpaw to see what she was going to do.

OOC: Rp: Morningpaw started to scan over the forest floor for signs of prey. What looked to be a gopher's burrow caught her eye. Hmm, I wonder if it's close by. She waved her tail to Bluewave to show she was going after the gopher and dropped into a crouch. As she moved closer she perked up her ears for the sound of any rustling leaves. She turned her head to see the rodent half-hidden by brush. If I could move in front of it I'd block off most of its exits. She started to try and slink past the gopher's line of sight to the opening in the trees in front of it. She moved each paw with precision before she made her final step and leapt forward, claws extended. Mid-air, Morningpaw noticed the rodent's lightning fast response, and, before she knew it, the critter had run underneath her. She sailed onto the ground and turned around frustrated. "Ugh! I could've gotten it if I had just pounced when I was close instead of trying to trick it."

Bluewave had been watching Morningpaw while she was doing this. Her first instincts had been correct, to get closer, but then when she started to move around it, Bluewave noticed she was forgetting to check the direction of the wind. If she had, she would have noticed that it was about to shift. Sure enough, as Morningpaw had made her attack, her smell had reached the gopher, along with the sound of her leap. Fortunately, Bluewave was expecting the gophers reaction, and her leap was accurate as she slammed her paw down hard onto the creatures neck, killing it. She quickly moved her tail in front of her mouth to tell the fledgling to be quiet, Bluewave fully aware of the large amount of prey around them. Any loud and sudden noises might scare more of them away.

OOC: Rp: Morningpaw stepped back and nodded. At least she caught it, though I certainly didn't help. She moved to a different area, a little ashamed of herself for missing an easy catch. Alright, maybe I can get something else to make up for it. Her eyes searched the clearing for other signs of prey. In the crowded forest it was difficult seeing anything else, so she checked the scent around her. There was a slight smell of a mole and she started to slowly pad towards its location. She dropped down to a crouch and moved closer before taking a deep inhale. In a quick flash of movement she flung herself at the target with speed, swiping at the mole before it had a chance to respond and killing it. She picked up the catch with mixed emotions. This is nice, but I'm just not sure if its good enough.

Bluewave was watching Morningpaw during this second attempt. While the mole was a smaller prey, a catch was still a catch. In fact, her movements during that hunt were without fault. Bluewave smiled at Morningpaw, nodding her head in approval, then she perked her ears and started trying to identify and locate more prey

During this moment, flameclaw had been using his eagle vision to confirm that the fox they were fighting was the only one in the area. He briefly managed to notice that presence, but before he could spend the time needed to identify what it was, peregrinesouls words grabbed his attention. He turned to leaf to go through with his healers orders, only to find her running off. But she wasnt so much as running away, but more like running into the river and downstream. Flameclaw was about to give chase to make sure she would be okay, when he noticed that Peregrinesouls feather necklace was missing. He quickly realized that Leaf probably noticed as well, so he decided that ending the fight quickly was his best bet. The fox had thrown both Brightfire and Peregrinesoul, and was now leaping at his healer. Flameclaw quickly got between them, once again stabbing his claws upwards into its jaw. He then quickly rotates above it, stabing his claws into its shoulders. Then using his own weight, and the explosive power of his muscles, he managed to throw the fox backwards. With its belly now exposed, Flameclaw went in to finish it off. He was meet by the frailing of the foxes paws, allowing him to only land a few blows before one of the frails landed a good strike across his shoulders, ripping open some cuts. However this seemed to be enough, cause as soon as the fox got back up, it took off running, thankfully in the direction out of the tribes territory.
