Nimbus blinked in amusement at the younger cat's enthusiasm. "Well I'm glad to not be the only learner here. It's nice to meet you as well Whiskers." The younger cat's high energy was a breath of fresh air given the general mood of the group. Hopefully it would rub off on the others as well. He glanced in the direction of the barn, like a giant twoleg nest. "I've seen a few of those before, but I've never been near them."

Bandit dipped his head gratefully at Storm. "I'm Bandit, nice to meet you. I'd be grateful for any help I can get at this point. I've only been away from twolegs for a short time." He wanted to learn quickly and be able to support himself...and maybe the others. He didn't know if they'd all stay together, although he hoped they would. Clearing his thoughts, he glanced around, curious if anybody else was going to join.

( Rose is gonna run into Rain literally now I guess)
Rose could feel her panic start to rise again and she started to trot forward hoping that movement would force it to dissipate. It was rising though threatening to overtake her and leave her prone on the ground alone. She broke into a run as it washed over her in waves her paw pads were cut and aching but it brought her back a little. She didn't know she was headed directly toward other cats.

Mother Dark sure!)) Orion stopped and scratched for what felt like the hundredth time today. This tall grass was awful to walk through. With how tall the grass was, he had no idea if he was even going in the right direction. The kit felt another wave of fear flush through him. At least by the twoleg nests, there had been food. Here, he could walk right into a prey-less wasteland. As the morning wove on, he grew more and more tired. The wind blowing through the grass was a new sound to him, and fear stopped his paws in their tracks. Maybe, maybe he should wait a bit, until the noise was gone. He crouched down in the grass and circled until he'd made a small flattened area big enough to lay down in. Maybe he'd get another dream from his dad, telling him he was heading in the right direction.

Lightning sighed. He stood stretching his legs and headed away from the others, He parted his jaws in hopes of prey scent mingled somewhere under all the cats. Wandering off further along he listened for any sign of life and hoped he could catch something. He paused as he heard something in the grass ahead of him.

Rose howled with fear as she realized what she had done. She tore at the ground with her slightly bloody paws trying to right herself and tear away from the aggressive she-cat in front of her. She let out whimpers as she realized she wasn't doing anything while trying to get away.

Whiskers continued to fidget impatiently, but seemed satisfied enough with the tabby's response. It would do no good to act brashly, after all, especially with company alongside them but he purred happily as Nimbus replied. "You're lucky! Ash is the best hunter I know, so I bet you'll learn super fast!" he exclaimed, swelling with pride for having such a great cat to look up to. Of course, he looked up to Oak as well, but they all knew Ash was the superior hunter. If anything, the young tom wish to learn the best of both of them and someday make them proud with what he'd learned. Nevertheless, he was certainly ready to go, glancing off in the distance as if he was already attempting to eye something to catch, though it would be impossible from this distance. He certainly didn't have the eyes of a hawk. However, the young ginger blinked at the mention of the far, looking somehow curious. "The pleasure is all mine, Bandit." Storm replied with a smile, not at all seeming daunted by his comment of recently being among twolegs. With kittypets and such among them, he still felt they had a place if they heeded the call, and felt all the more determined to make sure they had nothing to fear but all the ability to prove themselves. "It takes a brave cat to set out and desire self improvement, so worry not, hunting takes practice but it's one I'm sure you'll grasp." the large gray tom added encouragingly before shooting another glance around the mass of cat. "I think it'll just be the two of us so lets head out, perhaps it's better this way." he soon said before turning from the group and geasturing with his tail for Bandit to accompany him. "Tell me, how much do you know about hunting?" He wanted to make the most of the lesson, such things would make it easier to see where the tom needed help after all. And if needed, he'd start from the bare basics. Thornclaw had made it a fair distance from the other cats now, feeling satisfied she could hunt in peace away from the large crowd that put her on edge. If nothing else she wouldn't have the interference of cats unskilled in hunting chasing the prey away, though she wasn't as spritely as she once was. Satisfied as she was, however, she got down to business, parting her jaws to breath in the scents surrounding her. It was greatly pleasing to catch a wiff of a bird so soon and she soon crouched down, following the trail with deliberate care not to be seen or heard. After some moments, she finally caught sight of her prey, a simple bird pecking at the ground. Using even greater care, she snuck just close enough before leaping, her paw smacking the bird to the ground in an act to stun it. Without wasting a moment, she latched her teeth down onto the helpless creature, ending it's life immediately. One down.

Orion had difficulty settling down to rest, as tired as he was. The grass was dry and scratchy, not soft like the grass near the twoleg place. Maybe wherever his father was leading him would have soft grass like that. With a frustrated huff, he got up and tried to knead the grass into something more comfortable. It was loud and crackly, adding to his discomfort. "Maybe it wasn't dad." He said softly to himself.

Bandit was glad that Storm didn't seem put off by his background. "I'll make sure to do my best. I'd like to learn quickly." He fell into step with the other cat, staying about a step behind him. "Well I've figured out that birds are very difficult to catch, and that mice smell me really easily." He paused as he thought over his many failures. "I've learned a lot of things the hard way, now that I think about it. I've figured out several ways not to do it." He chuckled softly. That was a more positive way of looking at it. "But I have trouble figuring out how to tell where the prey is."

So am I )))
Orion jumped at the sound. It was another cat! He was ready to run out towards them and get away from this awful place, but then his father's teachings came back to him. He didn't know if this cat was a friend or an enemy. But he thought it over. Did he have much of a choice? Either stay here lost and alone, or take his chances with a strange cat. Cautiously, he took a few steps in the direction of the voice. "Hello? Are you a dangerous cat?"

The large gray cat listened to the summary of the other's hunting antics with due interest, taking it all into consideration as he thought of the best way to offer aid to the younger cat. "Well that's one way to go about it." he chuckled softly in response, "But that explains why you're struggling and I think I just might be able to help." Though he said it so matter-of-factly, it would still take an fair explanation and practice before the other would master the act of hunting but Storm felt confident the cat had the brains for the act. He'd well learned things that didn't work, and that was merely a step from things that DID work. "To prevent any prey from smelling you before you're close enough to leap, the ideal setting is having the wind coming towards you -- thus bringing your prey's scent to you and not the other way around." the tom explained, noting that advantage was one they currently had, "But a mouse can also feel the subtle vibrations of an approaching cat if one is not careful enough in their stalking technique." Though he spoke clearly and intent towards the cat, his ears tended to swerve as if attempting to be constantly aware of the surroundings they tread upon. "As for figuring out the prey's location, that takes fine tuning your senses and practice. Picking up their scent is the first and most important, If you can't find your prey through scent, chances are you wont find it at all."

Rain || With - Jagg, Nova & Rose The young cat stared at Rose with a harsh glare until the mixture of her whimpers and the faint scent of blood cause for a different kind of alarm. Rain relaxed her muscles slightly and tried to force her fur to lie flat. “Woah... Calm down...” She meowed rather gruffly, never being the best at comforting others despite her efforts. “What happened to you? Are you alright?” She asked. Ash || With - Nimbus & Whiskers Ash shrugged his shoulder to Nimbus. “I grew up in one. But that was many moons ago.. It’s like the middle ground between being a rogue and a kittypet.” He explained before he turned his attention to Whiskers. The older tom nearly looked a little embarrassed from the high praise he received from his adopted brother. He gave him an affectionate flick with his tail before beginning to take the lead. “Hopefully I can teach just as well.” He mused. “Let’s go see what we can find.” The warrior began to lead the way off in the direction of the barn. He glanced over at Nimbus and tilted his head curiously. “So exactly how much do you know about hunting?” He asked, wondering if he’d have to go over the very basics with him.

Although Thorn was more than happy to would down her prey without a second thought, as she had little reason to care for the other cats, she found herself hesitating, her brow furrowing with her own confusion for the matter. With her own conscious playing against her, she promptly dug a shallow hole in the meadow and shoved the bird in it, nudging some of the dirt back over it to keep it safe whilst she continued. This wasn't something she often did by any means, after all, hunting for herself left no need for this but it was an idea she felt would serve the purpose. She turned to leave when the wind shifted towards her, and with it bringing the scent of rabbit. Rabbits were quite a hassle and the old cat rarely bothered with such things back when the forest bore all the food needed, but under the circumstances... She sighed before heading after the scent, keeping her body low and her paw steps silent as she moved along. She soon caught sight of the soft body several tail lengths away and began her attack against it, moving forward with all the stealth her old body could muster and-- She pounced, missing the rabbit by a margin but undettered, she rushed after it, forcing her legs to move her at a speed she naturally found uncomfortable and soon she managed to get a hold of it, Killing it quickly. Panting as she was, being well out of shape for rabbits, she grabbed the dead animal by it's scruff and drug it along with her. Figuring she could come back for the bird after, and spare the hassle of carrying both at the same time, she didn't waste the effort back tracking to that and simply returned to the group. Carrying her rabbit proudly, Thorn headed for the area she had see Willow go to rest. Upon seeing the young cat she dropped the rabbit at her paws before turning away, as if somehow embarrassed by the act of kindness. "I assume no one else would hunt for you so I brought that for you. In your state, you need to eat properly." Not waiting for Gratitude, she padded off on her own once more.
(I should be asleep but instead I must post more grumpy cat.)

"No I'm a safe cat. Are you all alone?" Lightning hadn't realized that the cat in the grass was a kit. He sat down and became conscious of the fact that his bad eye and how others were freaked out by it.

Rose looked up. What had caused the change in the other cat she thought her panic slowly losing hold. "I-I got lost and my paws are cut up and I don't know what to do." The words poured out of her mouth before she could stop them. She probably looked pitiful cowering on the ground in front of these cats. It probably looked like she couldn't take care of herself.

Nova and Jagg just stared as the scene unfolded around them. A cat revealed herself only to be ran into by another cat. "This group is a mad house!", Jagg exclaimed taking a step back not sure now that he wanted to join the group. But just then Nova spoke up.
"These are trying times Jagg, have patience and understanding for others." The black shecat then went up to the two new cats. "We are looking to join the group that left the forest. This is Jagg and I am Nova, we are not here to fight. Do any of you know where the group is?", She asked the two young cats curiously her tone soft and kind.

Nimbus turned and kept pace with Ash, grateful that he wasn't expected to know everything right away. "I've been on my own for a while, and I've been able to catch enough to eat. Mostly mice and vole." It was hard to tell what was skill and what was luck. "I've been told I'm very quiet, so I'm sure that helps. But as far as technique goes, I haven't been taught anything." He'd figured out how to taste the air and track prey, but the techniques were a bit harder.

"You promise you're a safe cat?" Orion could just barely make out the tips of the other cat's ears, so he stepped a bit closer until he could peek his head out the grass and see the cat. "...yeah. Mom was taken by twolegs and dad died fighting another cat." A thought crossed his mind and his ears perked up. "Are you alone too?" He leaned out of the grass enough to sniff at the cat. He smelled different for sure.
