βNo I donβt mean it in that way, I mean grief as in he gives you trouble.β Merve clarified. βThe guard is better than the military.β Merve admitted. βI think Serhan would say the same as well. Most of the military has always been navy anyway, until recently we didnβt need much land forces. Thatβs why all the troops are gathering. But you already knew that.β
(Adelaide is still talking to the king I just changed his name. Iβm not gonna RP Levent the guard yet until the change stops being confusing lol)
Serhan wasnβt too concerned about if there were rules against it. βIf you could...β He nodded, not the least bit against wearing servantβs clothes, or at least he didnβt think much of it. Best if we go before noon, right before it gets too busy.β

"The sooner we have news on any trouble stirring in the South, the sooner we can call our navy ships back to port to deal with any issues." Merve smiled. She seemed to know a lot about the workings of the government and military for being the head cook. She'd been living at the palace since she was 7 and naturally learned many things from eavesdropping on nobles and advisors. "Give him time, Serhan is still not used to the restrictions of being king. He's always been an upper class noble's son but he's always been used to going out and doing as he pleases."

Adelaide dipped her head and started to move towards the doors. "I'll hurry, then. We can meet by the servant's entrance in about twenty minutes? You can change and we can go from there." She didn't exactly wait for Serhan to answer, and left the room. The blonde made her way down the grand hall, walking swiftly as she made her way deeper into the palace, making her way towards the laundry rooms. It was there that she grabbed a pair of pants, socks, and a shirt, and made her way back towards where she told them they would meet.

"Don't be too harsh on him or you'll scare him away." Merve joked. "I think taxes have remained the same, and they're pretty low. The crown gets most of its money from trade with the mainland, and it owns all the ships. If someone wants to trade their goods outside of Meviah they have to pay to use ships owned by the king in order to ship them off, but there is hardly any tax on the goods themself, or anything on goods traded within the kingdom."
Serhan nodded, standing up and heading back to his chambers. He took some money with him, and immediately afterwards went to wait by the servant's door for Adelaide. He made sure no one saw him go there, especially not some of his advisors who had just woken up, the aging men had a tendency to sleep in.

Adelaide easily spotted Serhan by the door and smiled to herself, walking a little quicker towards him so no one would notice. She had to take an unusual pathway to get there, as most of the servants were awake and moving about, but she knew almost everyone's schedule and knew who would be where around this time of day. "Here. Change quickly." She whispered to Serhan as she slid the clothes into his hands, then leaned on the wall, a rather mischievous glint in her eyes. "Hurry."

Serhan went behind one of the curtains and changed as quickly as he could, leaving his old clothes hidden and tucked under a low shelf. He nodded to her to lead the way as he came back to the door.

"I'm not needed in the kitchens until lunch so I'll join you." Merve sat up and brushed her hair back over her shoulder. "Where would you guess he'd be?" She asked.

When she noticed the nod, Adelaide immediately opened the door and went outside, holding the door open for Serhan. Once they were both out, she cast a quick glance at him and gave a smile. "So, do you sneak out often, your highness?" There was a hint of a smirk in her words, finding the whole ordeal to be a little funny. "And, what should I call you during our little adventure?"

"Not often, no. Just once or twice before." Serhan said. "I never really needed to sneak away if I wanted to go somewhere before." He added. "Maybe a more common name, like Riza." He followed her closely.

"What kind of places? I've spent most of my life in this palace you'd have to know some pretty secret places to surprised me." Merve smirked and took her arm. "I wonder if we'd be allowed just to walk into his chambers, even if he's not there."

"Sometimes I forget just how short of a term you've had so far as king." She noticed him following more closely so she slowed her steps, making it so they walked beside one another. "Riza is a nice name, did you come up with that on your own?" Adelaide pushed her hands into the pockets of her aprons as they walked, the palace getting smaller and smaller behind them as they drew closer to town.

"No it's a pretty well known Meviahn name..." He explained. He never glanced back at the palace and kept his eyes on the path ahead to the market and the people they passed, looking now and again at Adelaide whenever she spoke. He walked casually like anyone else would.
(Meviahn names are generally like Turkish, Persian or Greek names)

"Oh no." Merve laughed at that. "He must love you then." She exclaimed sarcastically. "Jeez first he has to move into a new home and now he can't even keep his privacy. I don't envy him."

(My cousins all have Persian names, which makes sense considering they are half Persian lol)
"May I speak casually with you, Serh-..Riza? For the time we are together today, at the very least?" Adelaide figured he trusted her enough to go out into town with her, so maybe they could have a moment where they pretended they were of the same class standing. There's a part of her brain nagging for them to go back, causing her to grow anxious as she's sure she could be arrested if they were ever found out.

(haha my best friend's bf is only 1/8th Mexican but he has the most Spanish name ever. I'm also a huge nerd for turkish names if it isn't obvious I think they sound really cool)
"Of course." Serhan nodded. He was trying not to act so formal and high-class. "Sure." He changed the wording of his answer. He only felt a sliver of anxiousness about it, since there was not much anyone could do or would dare to do to punish him for such actions. But he would stick up for her if she got into trouble over it.

( lol I'm just Scottish-Canadian, eh ) "Keep doing that and he might just send you away afterall." Merve couldn't help but mimick the face as well. She'd seen him pull it just a few times.

Adelaide couldn't stop her chuckle as she noticed the changing of his words, she thought it was pretty cute how he made such an effort to not be so formal. "Did you ever see yourself becoming king? Or even wanting the crown, for that matter?" She was feeling a little bold, now that she had his permission to speak rather freely. "Please let me know if I cross any boundaries, I don't want to make you uncomfortable."

"Never at all. It was a surprise even to me when my mother and father rushed in telling me the king was dead with no heir. My mother never wasted any time getting the other noble houses on our side to support putting me on the throne. I think she promised each of the lords that I would marry one of their daughters, how disappointed all but one of them will probably be." He said. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable either."

"Calm down!" Merve said. "He might just be in another part of the palace!" She ran around picking up everything Celena knocked over.
(I have a French-spelled name and no French in my family)

Adelaide looked ahead as she listened to him, frowning a little. It was his last sentence that made her look at him, head tilted slightly. "That's very nice of you, but you shouldn't have to worry about that. But, thank you anyways." Her cheeks were turning a little pink again so she quickly looked away from Serhan and focused on the path ahead of them. "Is that what you want? An arranged marriage and the crown? All kind of seems...superficial?"
