"Who would I tell? Serhan already knows, obviously. None of the council or advisors bother to talk to me." Merve shrugged, smirking even more when Adelaide begged. "Right girls? Lips are sealed." She looked at the other cooks and gestured to shoo them back into the kitchens. "I guess I best not tell Celena either." She chuckled.
Serhan changed quickly in his room and left for the council hall without a moment's hesitation. It was a large room down the hall from the throne-room with a low table around the centre in a u-shape. Serhan walked briskly through the hallways until he reached the doorway, slowing down and acting casually as if he just wandered in. "Good afternoon." he nodded to the advisors as he moved around the edge of the room to his seat at the centre of the u-table. He sat down slowly and quietly, trying not to draw too much attention to himself.

"It better not happen again, you both could get into a lot of trouble." Merve cautioned. "Celena caught on very quickly, I did too. She's very worried right now and Serhan won't hear the end of it when he runs into her. But I'll let her find out that he's returned on her own."

(did you see my drawing of Merve?)
Most of the councilmen obviously noticed Serhan but none but the two closest to him sitting on either side asked him about it. He apologized for his lateness, speaking to them with a hushed voice but didn't explain his disappearance to them. Everyone in the room, Serhan included, almost jumped at Celena's outburst, many looking at her in surprise that she'd adressed him so informally. The advisor to Serhan's left stood up and looked Celena in the eye, clearly not showing any fear from her. "This is very innapropriate of you Miss Celena. I don't know how His Majesty likes to be adressed by you in his private time but in this room you will address him properly. You can discuss his absense with him later." Serhan looked to the advisor gratefully.

"Keep speaking like that and you will be demoted." The advisor cautioned her, hoping she would remember that he outranked her. "By law you can only have me executed if you have reason to believe I am engaging in an act of treason. And while the king is here to speak for himself, he decides what constitutes an act of treason. You seem to be in much need of a reminder of how our laws work." He said. "I wouldn't just have her demoted, visier..." Serhan started, trying to act calm. "Don't presume, Celena, that you can give the orders on where I go or where I stay. We'll talk about this later, you're dismissed, and I never want to see you in this council room again, is that clear?" Serhan's voice became stern, and he remembered what he told Adelaide, that he wouldn't allow anyone to give him orders or give orders behind his back.

She's very worried right now and Serhan won't hear the end of it when he runs into her. But I'll let her find out that he's returned on her own." Adelaide nodded quickly, frowning at the fact that Serhan might get in trouble. Then she realized how silly that sounded, he was the King of course he wouldn't get into too much trouble, or any at all. She gave a hint of a smile, looking up to Merve now. "Do you need any help in the kitchen? We got plums and blackberries while at the market." She said, holding up the basket.

Serhan looked at her a bit nervously but seemed satisfied. "Later then, but this is not the time, the council has business to attend to." Serhan didn't know how to feel really as he watch her leave, glad that he wasn't in trouble now but feeling guilty as well. He ordered the advisors to share all the major issues of the kingdom since he had come to the palace. Annoyed to hear some of them had given orders behind his back but not surprised. He was able to give orders or at least suggestions to solve some of the issues on the long list, but once the council meeting was running too long, he requested documents of the most important cases sent to his study so he could think them over. He left the council hall after 3 hours and went for the small dining room next to the kitchens.
"No not really, we've already prepared lunch and it's hours until dinner time. Just make sure to put everything away in its proper place, and feel free to go relax for a while. The library's open to staff as long as the king or councilmen aren't in there." Merve explained, gathering up all the glasses from their break drinking and started to wash them.

The ceiling of the library was elaborately decorated and painted with tessellated designs. It was one of the most fancy looking places in the palace. After leaving from the small dining room after lunch he got changed into some of the plainer clothes he had from before coming to the palace. He found a small nook in the library with a low table and some couches around it. He pulled three books off a shelf with a tired and bored expression before sitting down.

Venom I have another royal guard character for you) Gokhan stood guard outside one of the palace entrance ways, within the main walls but looking out at the front courtyard. He paced back and forth a little bit, giving advice enthusiastically with the younger and greener guard on the other post of the doorway. He held his spear in one hand and gestured as he talked with the other, while seeming distracted in talking he always kept a sharp eye around the courtyard. The sun was hot overhead, the younger guard pulling off his hat and wiping sweat off his forehead as he listened.

Teeth settled over her lower lip, Adelaide gave a small smile when she seemed to find a book she liked. Grabbing the top of it, she pulled out a medium sized book in girth, one where the spine was a little worn. The slim girl made her way over to one of her favorite spots, her book cradled into the bosom of her chest, but she stopped short in her tracks when she realized someone was already in her spot, and she did a double take when she noticed that that someone was Serhan. Today seemed like the day she was running into the royal. Hesitantly, she approached and gave a polite smile, reaching over and lightly tapping him on his shoulder. "You escaping again?" She asked, a look of amusement and curiosity in her big eyes.

"Not from the palace, but at least into a book." Serhan looked up and smiled back. All three of the books were about history, only one of them about Meviahn history, the other two about kingdoms across the sea to the North and to the South. Despite trying to relax against the sofa Serhan looked a little tense and nervous.

"Other than Celena's outburst, it went normally. No one but Celena brought up that I had left or that I was late, I guess everyone on the council was quicker to get the work done rather than question my absence." He replied. He flipped through the book he held in his hand, the one by some Meviahn historian from centuries ago detailing the settlement of the island even more centuries before the author's time. Serhan gave a quick glance to her book.

Her eyes scanned the page as she read the first paragraph but felt eyes on her. She took a short glance to Serhan and saw he was eyeing her book. "It's just some fairytales." She explained with a soft chuckle. "I guess I'm looking to escape as well."

Serhan raised a brow quizzically looking at the book she held. “Just some light reading then?” He commented, though it seemed like he really wanted to say something else about it, maybe thinking it a bit juvenile but tried to stay polite. “Do you often come here to read?” he asked, turning his gaze back to his own book and leaning back a little further.
