May the Stars Guide You
What can be created can be destroyed just as easily. Even stars fade.
Introduction
In the times of greatest hardship, where death seemed certain for the wild cats of the valley, a miracle came from the sky. The cats who would later become our gods saved us from the brink of death, and in their honour we named ourselves for their skies. Following their laws and worshipping them in thanks for our lives. However, times are changing, and as death seems to be once again upon us. We must decide what our future holds. Nothing lasts forever, and what was once created can just as easily be destroyed. For even the stars fade.
Rules
1. Forum Rules As should be pretty clear, all rules stated by the forums are to be followed here too. Deviation from their guidelines will not be tolerated. We’re all here to have fun, but those rules are there for a reason.
2. Activity Those wishing to take parts key to the plot, i ask that you are online and rping at least five days a week, for everyone else I ask for three days a week. I understand that everyone has a life outside the forums, but no one likes having their characters frozen whilst they wait for someone else to reply. Those inactive for a week will be given a warning, if not adhered to your characters will be deleted three days later unless you give warning beforehand.
3. Literacy It is my intention for this to be a semiliterate clan, By this I mean nothing less then 4 lines of rp per character, and it doesn’t count where a person adds four single lines up to make it four. Where I believe you don’t meet the literacy requirements, I reserve the right to refuse your form.
4. Drama As long as it doesn’t directly affect the main plot of the thread, i.e. suddenly killing off the main character before it has even started, feel free to make as much drama as you like. Just try to ensure everyone you can is involved so we can all share in the fun!
5. Integration One of my favourite things about the clans and rping is all the different friendships and relationships within the clans. So i ask that where a character in the clan looks like one of your own, or you think two cats would get along, you ask that they be mates ahead of rping Or littermates, parents or mates. I think it adds an extra level to the rp, and whilst i wont force anyone, please think about it.
6. GodModding, Mary Sues, and Realism Whilst I’m very aware the subject matter we rp about isn’t especially realistic, I ask that you still make characters realistic to what a cat would actually be. I.e. no abilities a cat would never have, no pink or purple cats, and try to keep with what I describe the average cat of this clan to be like, don’t make all your cats entirely different to this norm. Also when creating your characters add both flaws and strengths, no ones perfect but no one is entirely evil or ueless. So I knowyou’ve read the rules, put Guiding Light in the other part of your form.
7. Plagiarism Where I believe you may have stolen a character from another, I will deny your form and potentially report you. Whilst i know my own coding isn’t awesome, I will immediately report anyone having stolen it. I worked hard, so please have a little respect for that.
8. Joining On joining I ask that you please join with at least two cats, one of each side as to try and keep numbers even in order to keep it more fun. Read through the plot and figure out what type of personality might fit well in both then try to adhere at least a little to that, or give reasons as to why your character differs from the norm in your form. Whilst this wont be strictly enforced, try to keep your genders even. To join as an apprentice, you must have first joined with at least two adult cats to keep numbers from getting ridiculously uneven.
Joining Form
Name, Side A description including what your cat looks like, their personality and some of their history. I ask you try to keep it to a maximum of twelve lines long. Screenname Rank Relationships Other Joining Page

About the Clan
Cats most suited to living in the diverse terrain of NovaClan tend to be smaller in size and built for running and stamina as opposed to strength. It is an important aspect of day to day life to be able to traverse the hilly and rocky territory of our home, and cats who cant may be shunned or looked down upon. Darker colours are most common found in the clan, such as greys, browns and blacks and solid pelts are generally uncommon. Tending to verge more on patterns such as tabbies, spotted and calicos at it greatens the ability of the cat to blend in with their surrounding.
Weather in NovaClan is often rather wet, rainfall happening most days especially during leaf fall, though flooding is rare it isn’t unheard of, but fortunately the position of the camp is at the highest in the territory and hence this is an unlikely threat to the cats. Prey most common in our territory is hares and rabbits found in the valleys and hills, and the fish found within the sources of water on our territory, though cats do travel a little further in order to find variety of birds and mammals which can be found in the woodlands a little further afield than the camp.
Members of NovaClan are very strict when it comes to their way of belief, their ancestors and history means everything to them and they often do not take to deviation from such too very kindly. However, they have a strong sense of justice and wont agree with anything that might be considered wrong. Though what they believe to be wrong may not always be the case.
Territory
The lands in which NovaClan make its home is very much a oasis in the centre of a largely destroyed world, much of the lands surrounding their territory was destroyed in a mass fire which killed off most life outside their borders. As the clan ran, rain began to fall just as they reached the spot which became their edge border. As a result, they took it to mean they were safe. This land, would become their territory.
Broken Ravines; the set of ravines found beside the Oak Gorge, it is named for the strange manner in which the land juts in and out, like something broken and put back together in the wrong order. It isn’t necessarily a dangerous place unless one travels too far south where the land grows unstable and dangerous, and at its foot lays a large river. Providing water and a place to fish for those who dare traverse its quick waters after rainfall.
Camp Hill; Whilst an especially unimaginative name, it suits its purpose just perfectly. It is the steep hill ontop of which the clan camp is situated, its height allows for perfect observation of the world around it, and the steepness of it often fends it from predators who might otherwise intend it harm. Small animals can be found within its grasses, such as small birds, mice and voles looking for breakfast only to become breakfast.
Moon Stone; Quite simply a beautiful shining rock, which thanks to the hole in the ceiling allows moonlight to strike it and cause it to glow an incredible colour. It holds no alliances, and any ancestors who wishes to speak to a cat may regardless of the deity with whom they ally themself. Whilst the medicine cat is primarily the only cat who travels here, warriors on receiving their names are to journey here and speak to the ancestor for the first time. The Moon Stone is found within the caverns of Whispering Rocks.
Oak Gorge; Such as the name would suggest, it is a large gorge with a river running straight through it. Named for the oak trees lining either side of it, it isn’t a particularly fast river unless it has been raining a lot. Due to where NovaClan live, that is practically all the time and hence it is a good idea to stay away unless you consider yourself an especially strong swimmer.
Owl Roost; A tree which plays the role of the nest of a pair of owls. Whilst its far enough away from camp that the pair pose no true threat to the clan, it isn’t unheard of that during particularly hard leafbare the birds attempt to take smaller cats from the clan.
Sky Watcher Peak; just before where the clan makes their camp atop the hill, lies a valley and at its peak is a perfect place for those who wish to seek the companionship of the deities who aren’t inclined to make the journey to the Moon Stones may sit in solitude. What the sky tells them is of great importance to the clan, for it can tell of hardship or fortune to the clan.
The Destruction; The very edge of the eastern side of NovaClan’s territory is unrecognisable to anyone who traversed this way through the rest of the territory. In comparison to the lush green valleys and woodland, it is nothing but burn and ash. Though it is slowly beginning to regrow, even after this many moons. It will be a long time yet before this land is inhabitable again.
Whispering Rocks; A rock formation found north of the camp, the way the rocks are gathered results in a sharp whistling sound, not unlike that of a bird, when the winds blow hard enough. It is largely useless due to the prey being long scared away from the sound, but held within its caverns is the Moon Stones, one of the clan’s connection with the ancestors aside from the skies and their dreams.
Camp
Situated at the highest point of the territory, it is a rather open camp which may lead to difficulties in especially heavy rain. However, it adds the benefit of being able to see the world around it with great ease. Leaving them an advantage of being unable to be subject to a surprise attack, as unlikely as it would probably be.
The Leader’s Den; situated at the very centre of camp and with the fresh kill pile within its roots. It is a large tree with a hollow hole in its branches which is where the leader and their mate sleep at night. It is small but cosy, and the branch bellow the den serves as the meeting point for clan meetings.
The Council’s Den; found within the tallest tree in camp, they make their homes within the roots of the tree providing shelter and safety for the three cats who live inside. The branches serve as sitting points for the council to view the sky from, and it is rare for cats not to see them every night settled there, watching the stars with an intensity few would understand without becoming one.
The Medicine Cat’s Den; the medicine cat and their apprentice make their home alongside their patience within a small stone formation found towards the edge of camp. It is unknown why the rocks are here, but it provides shelter for the vulnerable members of the clan. Found within the gap between rocks, the space has been worn away over time to reveal a small cavern in which the medicine cat makes their home.
The Warrior’s Den;. easily the largest of the camp dens, the warriors make their home in the bramble thickets which surround the edge of camp. It serves as the border and works as protection in more than one way, as it is impossible to get into camp without going through the entrance found within this den. Hence, only those who are welcome here can get in safely.
The Apprentice’s Den; just off of the warriors den is a small set of juniper bushes long picked of their berries and left hollow inside, this serves as the den for the apprentices. Whilst a little cramped, it is cosy and as it is a little way away from most of the dens it is perfect for its members to gossip all night long in without bothering the rest of camp with constant nattering.
The Nursery; arguably the most important den in the camp is of course the most protected. Set within a fortified set of thickets separate from the warrior’s den, its hollow insides are reinforced with ivy and leaves to ensure the den is constantly warm and safe from the elements outside.
The Elder’s Den; found within the hollow of a tree stump with a roof reinforced with strands of ivy and moss, this den is on the smaller side but very warm and safe for the elderly to rest their weary bones.

Leader
Hawthornstar, A beautiful shecat hit by hard times, this young shecat does a good job of carrying herself in spite of the heart break tearing her appart, but anyone who cares to look close enough will likely see her pain. Unfortunately, that leaves her all too open to other cats striking at her weaknesses. She is a strikingly beautiful young shecat, with calico fur of black and orange with dark amber eyes. She is a kind shecat, loyal to the core and would do anything for her clan. Early in her leadership, she gave birth to a litter of two kits who succumbed to illness within a moon of their birth, and the third surviving kit was stolen by an owl. This has lead cats to believe the deities do not wish her to be leader, and her position is an unsteady one. Starlingflight

Warriors
Blazehawk, Viper. Blazehawks pelt bears a very dark brown color. On top of the brown is a black pattern of tabby stripes. His eyes match his name, as they are a bright, lighter shade of amber. He has a lithe body, but his muscles are there. His fluffy pelt does a good job of hiding them, but once you face him in battle, you'd realize just how muscular this tom is. Blazehawk has a very intimidating appearance that matches his personality, as he isn't the most sociable cat in the clan. He tends to keep to himself, and only converses if another clan member initiates it. Also, he's pretty quick to jump into battle to chasing out a potential threat, rather than be strategic about it. 𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚗𝚘𝚙𝚑𝚘𝚋𝚒𝚊
Crowfrost, Hare. Crowfrost's pelt is as black as night. Scattered throughout are silver flecks. Her dark, emerald green eyes are intelligent and observant. She is fierce and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She is rather rash and this tends to land her in quite a bit of trouble. Although she likes younger cats, she can't imagine being a mother herself. She is far too restless to stay cooped up in the nursery with bundles of fur crawling all over her. She much prefers to play with them, because, according to her brother Whitelion, she is one. Novi
Jaystone, Viper. A handsome and flirtatious young tom with a good sense of humour and a little too much confidence. He has thick dark grey fur, with a muzzle marked with light grey and shoulders splashed with speckles and spots marking them. He loves to test the limits of others, and push as far as he can. Though he sometimes goes a little too far, however, he is young and is learning. He has good intentions but sometimes uses the wrong means to get to them. Starlingflight
Rosegaze, Raven. Rosegazes pelt is a patchwork of white, black, browns, and oranges. Little of her pelt is white, whereas the majority of her fur is orange or brown. Patches of black spot her fur here and there, and snowy white covers her belly and paws, and the tip of her right ear. She has a small, lithe body, built more for running than for fighting. She isn't very muscular, and tends to struggle in battle. But she prides herself on her looks, and her ability to feed her clan. She's a sweet cat, always nice to her clan mates. She's a great advice giver, and some say she should have taken on the role of medicine cat. Sometimes she regrets her decision, but hates to dwell on the past and would rather focus on the present. She has a very optimistic outlook on life. 𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚗𝚘𝚙𝚑𝚘𝚋𝚒𝚊
Russetfang, Stag. Unusual in terms of the clan’s standard cat, he is a large and muscular older tom with dark rusted coloured fur marked with dark brown stripes all across his back and body like a dark tiger. He has only one eye after losing the other in a fight with a badger, but he doesn’t let it hinder him. He is a strong willed, if not a little stubborn tom with a great deal of opinions he’s more than happy to share should he feel the need to. He is brave and confident, but hates to show when he is hurting. Starlingflight
Vixenwhisker, Hare. Taller than average for her clan, she is a lean and pretty young orange shecat and eyes of a sharp blue colour. She is a kind but quiet shecat, who’d prefer to keep to the shadows and watch as opposed to interfere or give her opinion on a subject matter. Whilst she is a good friend when one takes the effort to get to know her, she tends to build barriers and isn’t prone to being outwardly kind to those outside her circle. Starlingflight
Whitelion,Hare. Whitelion is a massive, pure white tom. His paws are as large as a newborn kit. Although his fur is already thick, the area around his neck is a lot longer and fluffier, hence his name. His dark blue eyes are gentle, but firm. He is used to having to manage stubborn cats as his sister, Crowfrost, is one of them. He tends to be much more reserved, only speaking when he finds it necessary. He can be a leader or follower, willing to do what must be done to protect his clanmates. novi Apprentices

History
The days before the birth of NovaClan were filled with strife, fire had filled the local lands for days. Destroying everything in its path until most of the wildlife had been driven from the area in search of safety. Only for them to end up caught in a circle, surrounded on every side by fire. It looked like death was inevitable for the rogues and loners who had been forced from their homes. When a miracle happened. The skies opened, quenching the thirsts of the raging fires. And the cats were safe. Thankful for their lives, they created a clan. Basing their beliefs on the skies that had been their saviours, and worshiping the deities who marked the skies in constellations. Traditions and Beliefs
NovaClan place great importance in signs from the sky, the arrangement of clouds, stars and the shape of the moon each have different meaning to us. Deities The Raven; based on a group of stars that looks like a raven in flight. The full moon and poor weather such as storms and wind are the manners of communications preferred by this deity. Their domain consists of the likelihood of prey being plentiful and good fortune in terms of weather.
The Hare; based on a grouping of stars taking the shape of a hare. The half moon and meteors and wind are the preferred manner of communication for this deity. Their domain involves the growing of herbs and new births.
The Viper; based on a constellation similar to a coiled viper preparing to strike, the Viper prefers to communicate with new moons and the rare occurrence of aurora borealis. Their domain includes the less fortunate events of death and illness.
The Stag; based on the grouping of stars in our skies resembling that of a stag. preferring to communicate through a moonless sky due to clouds and shooting stars. Their domain includes new romance and the likelihood of poor fortune to come, i.e. battle.
Shamans take place of the deputy in a normal clan, they are involved in the creation of patrols and hunting groups depending on what they saw in the skies the night before and what is important for the day ahead. Their primary role, however, involves watching the skies for signs and helping in the clan's decision making. Each deity has a shaman, except for the one who currently has the leader born to them. Shamans are almost always older cats, whilst not necessarily elders it is important for them to be experienced, they are however, allowed to have mates. Plotlines
War has struck up between the deities we worship, the skies have been filled with storms and the ancestors silent no matter how we plead. It is believed that the once peaceful skies are at conflict, and it has lead to strife in the clan. Many dislike Hawthornstar, for her loss of belief in the ancestors due to her own history, and many wish for her to be removed from her place of powers, especially those born under the hare and the stag. With the deities at war above us, and rebellion sparking among our own ranks. The future for NovaClan is uncertain.

Hawthornstar, Camp, Open As morning broke on NovaClan camp, the young leader had risen from her den. The shecat cast her gaze skyward, birds played in the morning breeze and their songs filled the camp. However, it wasn't them that Hawthornstar was concentrating on. Clear sky, she acknowledged. However, it did little to settle her concerns. It had not been a peaceful night, in recent moons the anscestors had been silent and the skies restless. She had long lost what little hope she had in those who were meant to protect her, but she knew how much it meant to her clan. She hoped things would cheer up soon. Returning her gaze to the camp, the shecat settled herself in a sunny spot at the foot of her den. Ignoring the pile for now, happy to groom until someone else awoke. She noted that the fresh kill pile was growing low, and she guessed she'd need to send out a patrol to refill it. As well as border patrols. Her mind ran wild with what felt like a thousand thoughts, but she preferred it that way. For it took her mind off everything else which was weighing her down.
Jaystone, Camp, Open Waking up to the sound of bird song, the young tom was half tempted to stay where he lay. His smokey grey tail draped over his nose, fluttering with every breath he exhaled. His dreams had been filled with butterflies and pretty shecats, and he would have been entirely intent to go back to them. Hissing in frustration when one of his clanmates stood on his tail as he passed, the warrior very nearly turned around and scathed the warrior. Regardless of who it in fact was, elder, clanmate or otherwise. By the time he had opened his eyes the other cat was gone, and Jaystone let out a sigh of frustration. Now it appeared he had little other choice than to leave. Lifting himself to his paws, he cast his gaze around the den one final time. Quietly wondering if there was anyone still about for him to get some revenge on and for him to drag out of their nest.
Russetfang, Camp, Open Unlike what appeared to be the rest of the clan, Russetfang had spent his morning somewhat productively. He returned to camp carrying a pair of mice by the tails, and he dropped them on the fresh kill pile. It remained somewhat meagre offerings, but the older tom chose a plump sparrow for himself. Eager to fill his belly after a long hunt. Looking around camp with a twitch of his ears, he contemplated for a moment when he spotted Hawthornstar leave her den. However, decided against it. Settling down he began to eat, enjoying his own company enough not to seek out the companionship of a clanmate just yet.
Vixenwhisker, Camp, Open Having been the one to tread on Jaystone's tail, the young warrior wasn't quick to hang around. She looked around camp with a yawn, her stomach rumbled, however, she noted how low the pile had gotten and was quite happy to wait until she'd gone on patrol before attempting to take something for herself. The ginger warrior settled herself by the brambles of the warriors den. Using the vantage point to watch the camp around her with a rumbling yawn, she'd spent a lot of the night patching up a leak in the warrior's den and was both tired and aching because of it. She was eager to do something to take her mind off the tiredness.

Crowfrost's head popped and she scanned the warriors den, taking note of a few nests missing already. Slowly, she untangled herself from the pool of fluff that she'd created with her brother and did her best to step around him. Some cat had already hissed in annoyance at no doubt being trodden upon and she didn't want to ruffle fur anymore than necessary. Still, she'd been asleep the whole night and was now restless to get going. Whitelion preferred his sleep and so the littermates were often separated in the morning, convening around sunhigh for her lunch and his breakfast. Once safely out, she took the time to stretch and see who else had gotten up.

A big grin as usual printed across his handsome stone grey face, and whiskers twitching with amusement for something or other. The young warrior slowed as he reached her and said with a grin. “Morning,” he told her, surprisingly cheery considering how early it was that particular day, and how chilly it was beginning to feel. “I’m going to lose my sanity if I ace to stay here much longer, want to go for a hunt?” He offered, tail tip active with frustration and boredom. Clearly eager to get out of camp and do something, anything.

Crowfrost's ears twitched as Jaystone approached. A smart remark was ready on her tongue. After all, the whole clan knew about the tom's flirtatious streak and she wasn't terribly interested in it. However, she was surprised when he offered to go hunting, voicing her thoughts about feeling restless. "Alright..." She meowed carefully. "Did you have anywhere in mind?" Normally, she would wait for other cats and for a patrol, but it was starting to feel too cold to stand around for them to wake up.

Noting her especially cautious tone but otherwise not thinking too much of it, he was too busy thinking about hunting and stretching his paws. Ridding his head of the boredom which had become strife after a night of sleep, and now he was eager to get rid of some of his energy. His paws itched to get going, and he didn't especially care with whom he accompanied himself if it meant he could get out of camp.
At the question the handsome grey tom paused, thinking for a moment before replying with a twitch of his ears and a short thought. "The Oak Gorge?" He offered, thinking it was a fair distance away and would give him plenty of space to run and get a taste for the world outside of camp.

Rosegaze had just awoke, and given herself a quick grooming. Her pelt was sleek and groomed, and she licked her paw and rubbed it over her ear to calm the small tuft that was still determined to stick up out of place. Seeing Hawthornstar, her eyes grew a gleam of sympathy. It couldn't be easy leading the clan in such troubled times, and she quite respected the she-cat for having the courage and strength to do it. Standing up, she decided to engage her in a conversation. As she grew closer, she meowed in a caring tone, "How are you holding up, Hawthornstar?" A tilt of her head signaled her genuine curiosity and concern.
Blazehawk still rested peacefully in the den, usually one of the last in the clan to awake. Some called him lazy, but he would just respond that he needed his sleep. His chest rose and fell steadily and slowly, as he dreamt away. However, the hiss of another warrior woke him. One thing he hated was how much of a light sleeper he was. Grumbling, he attempted to fall back asleep and return to the bliss of his peaceful dreams, his attempts were futile. Complaining under his breath, he stood up to stretch. Rolling his eyes and dreading how tired he'd be the rest of the day, he headed out of the den, squinting his eyes at the sun. A small growl escaped his throat; Most of his conversations would probably be filled with curt, grumpy responses from him.

Hawthornstar was drawn from her line of thought by the sound of voices beside her and her name, quickly realising she was being spoken to. The beautiful calico lifted her head and looked to the shecat, a little surprised by the sudden appearance of a cat. It seemed she had been more caught up in thought than she had realised at first, and the young leader only dipped her head in acknowledgement for a second. Enjoying the warmth of the sun on her fur at first, and not too willing to answer the question. "I'm fine," she said quietly. Not making eye contact with her warrior as she shifted from one paw to the other. "How are you this morning?" She asked, a little too eager to change the subject to just about anything other than herself.

Rosegaze wasn't convinced by the leaders response, as she hardly looked at her and barely acknowledged the question. However, she didn't want to push her leader. She wasn't a medicine cat, although the clan knew Rosegaze's thoughts on that. She was just an average warrior, so there was a little disconnect between the two cats. "I'm well." She said with a small purr to her voice, and a smile on her face. Even if Hawthornstar wasn't completely honest, or even if she was, she hoped to add a little bit extra happiness to her day. Rosegaze could sense something was wrong, but she didn't know what. Her leader was stressed, and that couldn't be a good sign. With their ancestors having been quiet lately, though, she couldn't really blame her. "Would you like me to fetch a hunting patrol?" She meowed, taking a glance at the unimpressive fresh-kill pile. "Or would you like me to gather a border patrol?" She said, less enthusiastically. Everyone knew Rosegaze was one of the last to be sent on border patrols, but she would always offer.

The skies overhead were clear. whilst Hawthornstar had found herself putting less and less faith in the signs which showed themselves above. However, she didn't say this. Plus, she didn't especially fancy going on a border patrol, she wished to feed her clan and do something productive. She had been feeling all too useless in recent moons, and needed to get some of her pent up energy out for fear she might explode.
Looking back to her clanmate this time making eye contact, she held herself together surprisingly well everything considered. "I was thinking of taking a hunting patrol out myself," she exlained with a twitch of her long tail. "You are welcome to join me," she offered with a tilt to her head.

Rosegaze gave a quick nod with a smile. "I'd love to!" She purred, slightly relieved she'd picked to hunt. Rosegaze had battle skills, as she was taught well as an apprentice, though she lacked the muscles to give that extra advantage. Plus, she preferred not to fight anyways, so battling wasn't her strong suit by any means. "Are just you and I going, or would you like to bring someone else along as well?" She asked, looking around. Not many seemed to be up, so unless the leader decided to wake some of the others, there were few options for other cats to bring along.

Crowfrost tilted her head to one side and thought. It was a good walk away, so she'd be able to get her antsy-ness out before getting down to hunting. An idea popped into her head and she brightened a bit. "How about a race?" Her eyes gleamed. She stretched a bit more before heading for the entrance at a brisk trot. They'd have to be careful not to slip, but a good warrior would manage. They were lucky they weren't bringing apprentices along or they'd have to watch out for them.
