Littlepaw was still getting used to being an apprentice and the small tom wasn't sure he liked it. He missed the warmth and safety of the nursery and all the free time he had before he'd become an apprentice. Yes, he had more opportunities now and was actually allowed to leave camp, but he was always worried that they'd run into some creature that decided it wanted cat for lunch. That hadn't happened yet, but Littlepaw knew it would. After all, how many warriors had a perfectly safe and happy life? None.
Littlepaw glanced at the medicine cat den as he walked by. He'd spent a lot of time in their so far during his life, and he almost wished he'd been able to become the medicine cat apprentice. The tom let out a deep sigh and continued walking. He had nothing to do and was really wandering around aimlessly. In fact, he was lost in his own mind as he imagined one day being a warrior. While he wasn't the most enthusiastic apprentice in the clan, he was still looking forward to being a warrior. Then he'd be big and strong and be able to fight off anything that he wanted to. But for now the young tom was smaller and weaker than the other cats his age.
He sighed as he continued to wander, not really paying attention. And that's the story of how he ended up wandering straight into Greyfox. Littlepaw backed up, an expression of horror covering his features. He rarely even talked to the older Warriors, so crashing into one was very unlike the apprentice. "Uh, I'm s-sorry," he said, shrinking back as if he expected the warrior to yell at him. He wasn't sure he'd ever talked to Greyfox before. Littlepaw didn't exactly make it his mission to befriend as many clanmates as possible and usually tried to avoid them - especially the larger and stronger warriors. Even now, his eyes were glued to the ground in embarrassment, unable to meet the warrior's gaze.

Greyfox replying to Littlepaw.
To be honest, Greyfox had never thought of himself as intimidating. He was a relatively small cat, often mistaken for being an older apprentice rather than a warrior. He tried his best to be friendly, too; he was not at all a scary cat and he knew that.
With that said; he did not appreciate the fearful actions that were shown towards him by the apprentice. He would've thought that a couple of moons being an apprentice would have helped Littlepaw open up a little, but he supposed not - even so, it was frustrating to be shown such fearful actions. As if anyone in this clan would hurt a kit. He shook his head a little and snorted. Even Cinderpaw hadn't been this nervous as a kitten; and he was a nervous-wreck as it was.
"You just bumped into me, your world isn't ending," they were words not said unkindly, but they certainly were not soft. He preferred being himself even to cats who were scared of their own shadow; if they didn't get to know the real cats of this camp, then they'd have the wrong expectation of reality. Greyfox was not an unfriendly cat; he was quite the opposite. What he didn't appreciate, however, was being treated like he was a known kit-killer or as if he was known for attacking apprentices for, what, bumping into him?
To a degree, he supposed he could understand. All apprentices had some sort of fear in them, even as they began to get deeper into their training. It was just matter of if they got over it. He hoped that Littlepaw could overcome his fears; but he also knew that it would take time. This wasn't his apprentice, so it wasn't his job.
"Just watch where you're going next time," he said. His shoulders rolled in a shrug and he lowered his head to continue eating his fish.

Cinderpaw
Waking up unprompted was still something that Cinderpaw had to get used to. That said - today he managed to do it, though he wasn't sure if he was late or not. He probably was. He uncurled from the ball he'd been in and stretched out, claws extending as he did so. Once his stretch was completed and through with, he stood up and shook the loose moss from his fur, eyes blinking sleepily.
Everything aches, he thought idly, tail twitching as he began to move. It was like being an elder, or something; he must've slept awkwardly, as there was an ache settled on one of his hind legs. He shook it out a few times and it felt a little better, so he suspected that once he became active, it would probably settled down sooner or later. Knowing full-well that he'd have to deal with it, Cinderpaw rolled his shoulders in a shrug and entered the main section of camp, tall ears perking up as he glanced around.
He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, head lowering and nose twitching. All he had to do was find his mentor, and maybe he could get her to show him some cooler battle moves. After some time, he spotted the she-cat in one of the odd sunny patches of camp. Had she seen him yet? He hoped not. He dropped into a hunting crouch and slunk his way around the outskirts of camp, tail-tip twitching as he watched her. It took him far longer than it should've to reach Ivorystem, but once he had, he pushed himself out of his crouch and moved around to sit in front of her, tail swaying back and forth.
"Hello, Ivorystem," he greeted, in a voice that was as soft as ever. "What are we doing today?"
There it was; he was a little too nervous to ask for anything in particular, but that had always been how he'd been. Even with his own brother he was oftentimes too nervous to ask for something he wanted or needed, instead choosing a more difficult route (subtlety) to get what he wanted. It was frustrating, but he could deal with it.
Ashdapple
Perhaps there was no point in grooming his coat with the light mist settled from the cloud layer, but it seemed that something was bothering him about his pelt. Ashdapple had one leg lifted as he groomed his belly, ears half-flattened and tail thumping in a furious motion against the ground. From time to time, he would bite at his fur and pull a little.
There was a twig tangled in his belly-fur, one that had managed to get close to the skin. It was annoying him more than it should've been, frustrating him to the point where he didn't really want to groom anymore but he had to get this stupid thing away.
It took a lot of effort, but after what felt like too long, his fur released its hold on the twig and he pulled it out with a few strands of fur, dropping it to the ground and glaring at the offending twig. He was not a particularly short-tempered cat, but he'd been trying to get his fur untangled on his belly for far too long, and now he was more than a little frustrated. Now that he could, he settled comfortably on the ground and pushed the twig away with one of his paws, ears still flattened against his skull.
Today, it seemed, was not in Ashdapple's favour.
Greyfox
It was no secret that Greyfox enjoyed eating fish just as much as he enjoyed catching them, and so it was not a surprise that he had a near-live one in his jaws near the warrior's den, tail waving in a rather happy motion, and a low purr rumbling from his throat. His paws kneaded against the ground as he sat down to eat, dropping the fish (which flopped a little) on the ground. He'd brought back some more, of course, to feed the Clan! But he wanted this one to eat, because his belly was empty and he was very hungry.
He bit into it and his purrs became a deeper, happier sound - and that was how Greyfox often was. His ears twitched at every little sound as he ate, in quick but small motions.
The fish, of course, stood no chance against the might of the warrior. He was truly a mighty warrior for fending off this 100% real threat to MistClan. That was why he had to eat it, of course. A victory feast. For, uh, taking a prey animal out of its natural habitat so that he could eat it. Yep. The mightiest warrior over here.
Greyfox was certainly happy with himself, and that much was obvious without so much as approaching him. His purrs were louder as he ate, one paw held on his meal so that it wouldn't move.
[ ended up doing starters for greyfox & ashdapple bc i didn't know who to use ] ((Wanna maybe have Ashdapple and Blossomdrift Interact?)) ((and let me make a new post this one is being annoying as I type))

Ivorystem glanced up, not a very easy cat to startle, as she was usually laid back, and therefore wasnโt apt to jump at surprises. โGood morning, Cinderpaw. How did you sleep?โ, she asked, her tail flicking slightly. She rather enjoyed having Cinderpaw as an apprentice, enjoying his company, as he acted rather mature for his age, though it took a lot of energy dealing with his self-cynicism. But other than that, she was very glad she had him as an apprentice.โ I was thinking maybe fighting if youโre up to it. If not, then we could maybe go on a hunting patrol, or find something to go explore.โ, she said, sharing her apprenticeโs love of exploring.

Cinderpaw replying to Ivorystem.
Cinderpaw sat neatly and in a tall position, ears perked forward and tail settled over his paws. He was very different to both of his brothers; their only similarities seemed to be their grey tone of fur. Other than that, they were extremely different cats in every sense of the way. The young tom watched with narrowed eyes, gaze flicking down to the ground. Fighting, yes, he thought. Exploring was tempting, though...he liked that idea, too.
"Fighting, please," he said, after a few moments. "I slept well, thank you. A little too well," his moss nest was a mess; he'd have to fix it up once he went back. "How has your day been so far?"
It felt polite to return the same sort of question, and so he did.
[ sure, we can have them interact if you'd like ^^ ]

[ sure, we can have them interact if you'd like ^^ ] She chuckled softly. โRather nice.โ, she said, stretching slightly. โItโs nice to have some sunny spots to lay in, now that newleaf is here.โ, she said, her tail thumping slightly. โAnd alright, fighting it is.โ, she said, and stood up, stretching again, before she stood up. โWhere do you want to train? The field or in the forest?โ, she asked. She treated Cinderpaw like a warrior sometimes, allowing him to decide what he felt like doing that day, as she knew that sometimes moods changed, and she wanted him to always enjoy training, so she made sure to try and do what he wanted to do, unless they had a group training session, or they had something they had to do. Blossomdrift was not far from where Ashdapple was, and picked up what she had left of her starling, and padded over a bit slowly to him, and placed it down.โ Mind if I join you?โ, she asked, wanting a bit of company, as the elders den could get lonely sometimes.

Maplerose nodded her head along to Hazelshadow's words, wanting to show proof that she was indeed listening to everything he was saying. Not really knowing what to say, she made a sudden change in subject. "So... What have you been up to lately?" It was a very basic question to ask, which almost guaranteed some sort of conversation to form. She examined her wounds as she waited for a reply, trying to keep busy to stop herself from fidgeting around while her scratch was being treated. He waved his tail at the piles of herbs. โWell, as you can see, Iโve been sorting through everything.โ, he said. โBut other than that, not much. Itโs rather slow lately, of course Iโm not complaining, that means everyoneโs healthy and well.โ, he said with a soft smile, his tail waving happily.

Cinderpaw replying to Ivorystem.
He could certainly agree with that sentiment. The apprentice nodded and absently flexed his paws against the ground. It was cool, but not bitterly; it was more refreshing; it felt like this Newleaf wanted to be a good one. A promising one. The scents of their territory would come alive and so too would MistClan.
"Fields would be nice," he said, nodding his head slowly. "I like the openness."
Cinderpaw had been told by Greyfox to admit to things he liked; it would make life easier, or so he said. While he took his brother's words with a grain of salt in most situations, he could admit that this was probably the better course of action.
Ashdapple replying to Blossomdrift.
Now that the twig had been removed from him, he was entirely comfortable. Being alone was a fairly normal occurrence for him, and he took it into stride. Of course, this meant that being approached was rare - and so when the elder approached him, he flicked his gaze to her and remained silent for a few moments. Then, he pushed himself up and nodded slowly.
"Of course," he said. "Hello, Blossomdrift. How are you?"

Littlepaw was just afraid of most warriors at this point. Even if they weren't as large and intimidating as they could be, he knew they were all well trained fighting machines that could likely kill him if they decided to turn on him. The logical part of him knew that was unlikely to happen. After all, attacking or killing an apprentice would get them in major trouble, wouldn't it? However, that didn't stop the young apprentice from being nervous until he saw a cat wasn't going to attack him even when he was being a bit empty headed or stupid.
So when Greyfox first opened his mouth to speak, Littlepaw flinched slightly. He hated being yelled at and was even still nervous around his mentor when he messed up. The last thing he wanted was to be yelled at or told that he wasn't good enough to be a warrior or something stupid like that. So, he wasn't sure what to expect from Greyfox. When he heard the tom's words, his tense muscles relaxed slightly. Good. He didn't turn and start yelling at Littlepaw. The small tom still shifted his weight slightly, not completely comfortable around the older warrior. At least he didn't look like he expected Greyfox to turn on him.
He felt as though all eyes were on him even though he knew that nobody was paying attention to their exchange besides Greyfox and himself. Littlepaw hated being the center of attention. It had happened a few times as a kit when he'd come close to death, but everyone soon forgot about him when it was clear he was going to survive. That's why his apprentice ceremony had been so difficult for him. All of the clan's eyes had been on him and the small tom had wanted nothing more than to disappear. Unfortunately that hadn't happened and he'd had to endure being the center of attention. That's what it felt like right now, except he was embarrassing himself instead of becoming an Apprentice.
Littlepaw took a deep breath to settle himself before listening to Greyfox's next words. He nodded quickly at the advice, deciding that he'd never get lost in his own head again while he was wandering around camp. What if he ended up bumping into someone that had less of a heart than Greyfox? While he didn't know the tom well, he could assume he had a heart since he hadn't turned and started yelling at Littlepaw. That was just one more reason he almost longed for his days as a kit. Cats didn't yell at the kits often. They were allowed to get away with more and messing up wasn't such a big deal.
Littlepaw awkwardly shifted his weight again. He knew the conversation was over and that he should go and leave Greyfox in peace to eat his fish, but the young apprentice had a question burning in his mind. "Did you catch that?" he blurted out, nodding at the fish. Littlepaw took a step back sheepishly, realizing that the warrior probably just wanted to eat in peace. He'd been deciding whether or not he should talk more but the words had come out before he could decide. Now there was no going back so he kept talking in an attempt to explain himself. "I just- I could- I never..." he paused for a moment to regain himself and then finished his sentence. "I can't catch fish. I've tried but I just can't do it and if you had caught that I thought maybe you could possibly give me some tips if you don't mind but if you can't then that's okay too." His words all tumbled out over each other like a flood and he watched Greyfox, hoping the tom had caught on to what he wanted to say.

Greyfox replying to Littlepaw.
To be honest, he was far from a heartless cat - and so his frustration at being interrupted (and being feared) passed surprisingly quickly. One of his ears twitched and he wrinkled his nose, gaze flicking past the small apprentice for a flicker of a moment. He could remember his apprentice days and yet, honestly, he couldn't remember being nervous about much. About learning, yes, about disappointing his mentor, yes - but of all the warriors? No.
And then, again, he was reminded of the very tom he'd raised. Aside from a few hiccups along the way, he liked to think that he'd done a decent job. He was a bit of a mess and yes, perhaps Cinderpaw was sometimes frowned upon for certain things; but that was okay because Greyfox was proud of his baby brother, proud of him for getting this far and for continuing on. He squinted at Littlepaw and considered him with a thoughtful gaze, eyes narrowing for a moment. His tail-tip twitched and he seemed like he was plotting; that was always something with him. Greyfox was as open as could be about his emotions, and had nothing to hide.
He noticed that there no longer seemed to be pure fear radiating from the younger cat, and that was a relief, at least. Perhaps he had been quick to become offended and upset - but emotions were a rapid and quick thing for him, and he began to purr, low in his throat. He wondered what it would have been like to see this poor apprentice bump into someone else - someone less...uh. Not kind - he wouldn't call himself that - but less forgiving, he supposed. While Greyfox was quick with emotions and thus quick to become offended and/or annoyed, that didn't mean it stuck around. Some cats, however, held those emotions as if they were their kitten mossballs, as if they were precious memories that needed to be kept close to the chest and the heart.
Did you catch that? the question caused him to blink a few times, and he glanced down to his fish. His purr hiccuped a little as he rumbled out a quiet laugh.
"This? Yes. I'm good at fishing," his tail swayed back and forth, and he lifted a paw, unsheathing his claws. "These are fishing claws, my friend. Something I have never been prouder of."
There was a sort of rush that came along with fishing that would never stop being an addictive treat. He loved it, and loved everything about it. Greyfox's whiskers twitched as he listened to Littlepaw explain. Couldn't catch fish? That was understandable. They were slippery and demanded the utmost attention and patience. If it were possible, the warrior would have glowed with pride at being asked these questions.
"Here, you can have the rest of it while I talk," he said, using his paw to push the remains of the fish towards the young apprentice. Then, he backed up and crouched down, stretching his legs outwards.
He considered how to explain. Fishing was such a natural and fluid part of Greyfox's life, such a common thing for him to do that it seemed to be entirely reliant on muscle memory. And yet...it wasn't, not quite. Though he knew the motions to make, there was a lot of thought involved in catching fish, it was all based from timing and luck.
"This tends to go for all prey, but...never beat yourself up when you lose the catch. Luck plays a heavy part in it as well as skill; the more skilled you are, the less luck you need to rely on. But fishing is based on waiting and watching, on knowing where the fish will gather at a certain point of the day," that seemed like a good start. He swallowed and his whiskers twitched, the ghost of a smile appearing upon his lips. "If you wait with your claws out, you have a chance of catching them with your claws. Fish are very delicate and a wounded one will not survive for long in the waters, so if you wound one, you have a higher chance of a catch. That's not to say you should aim for hurting them before killing them for food, though..."
Greyfox trailed off and felt his skin warm beneath his fur.
"I apologise, I'm rambling. What I mean to say is...well. Fishing is an act of patience and luck, and learning how to hook them is better than learning how to pull them up. If you hook your claws into the fish, it's unlikely to escape you. If you just try to pull it onto the ground, then it'll probably slip away. Does that - ah, does that make sense?"

"That's good", Maplerose sighed, "do you need any specific herbs, or are you just looking for them in general?" Her attempt at a subject had somehow failed, and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Thoughts of being a medicine cat confused her emotions, even when she was a hundred percent certain that she would be a warrior for the clan. Over and over she had to remind herself of her failures as the former medicine cat to kill her strange feelings. "My fault for bringing up herbs anyways," she thought to herself. โIโm memorizing which ones I need and how much of them I need.โ, he said, as he finished up with her leg, and walked over to one of his piles, and flicked a few dead leaves out. โBe careful on that leg, and if you cobwebs come off too soon, come see me.โ, he said. โYou donโt want to reopen the wound.โ, he said, his back to her, just looking through his herbs again. He wasnโt really worried about her opening it back up, or doing something dumb to get it open or infected. He knew she was smarter than that.

She nodded. โAlright, the field it is.โ, she said with a smile, and headed for the entrance to camp, her tail just barely sweeping the ground, before she pushed through the entrance, and headed off through the forest towards the field. It was rather clear for MistClan territory, but the sun seemed to have broken through and was rather warm after the leafbare chills, so the mist was just soft wisps clinging close to the ground, which whirled or dispersed when walked through. She settled down beside him, tucking her paws under her, her starling in front of her. โQuite well.โ, she said, her tail flicking. It was warm and slightly sunny, which felt good on her old joints, and she was glad for the fat prey, as she had gotten rather skinny over leafbare. โHow are you today, Ashdapple?โ, she asked

Sootleg crept out of the warrior's den.He walked soldier in the military with a strict timing and pace.He over off to the side, where he sat looking back inside. He waited for about say 4 minutes before his deep, pure forest green eyes narrowed. It was clear he wasn't in the mood.
"Thistlevine." He said low and deep like the sea.
"Hold your tail fur." A shout came from inside."I'm coming."
Within a few more seconds, a bi-color she-cat emerged from the den.Her eyes narrowed to slits almost immediately and padded over to him. "I was just doing some groom, can't a she-cat have some time to herself."
Rolling his eyes, he remained silent. This was his sister-a naive she-cat-but still family. "Since when do you have any sense of time?" It was more of an answer than a question.
"You." Thistlevinehealy sighed, there was no moment in arguing. "Whatever."
She wouldn't let her mousebrain of a brother ruin her day.She g gestured for him to join her."Well, let's see, who knows maybe we could go on patrol."
He nodded as rising to his feet and her following, his eyes glancing around the camp.
Occ: I hope I this is okay.

Voleclaw had just gotten back from a patrol. His fur was still heavy from the mist he had trudged through, but he didn't mind. In fact, he hardly noticed it at all. At this point, he was used to it. Already, he was planning his next step in the day, as per usual. Oftentimes Voleclaw did the same thing day in and day out, but he felt content that it was the best he can do. Before doing anything else, however, his stomach rumbled. Grudgingly, Voleclaw obliged to pick out a piece of fresh-kill. Even this step was calculated; he needed something to get him through the day, but that wouldn't take away from elders, apprentices, and medicine cats. After a few moments, he grabbed a mouse that was small yet plump, and went to find somewhere to tuck in.
