He watched with a keen eye, and waited when she returned. It was a terrible catch, he thought to himself, glancing away. He had to build constructive criticism. Just like with an apprentice. For a moment, he considered it in his mind. There were a few ways to approach the situation delicately, and, to be honest, he wasn't the best at being delicate. He was as blunt as they came.
"You can take more time when there are no others hunting with you," he said. "Make sure the prey isn't alert to you, take time to think. It's not a race. If the mouse were faster, you might not have caught it," he twitched an ear and tilted his head. "You did quite well on the last-minute catch, though. Not many cats would've been able to fix their mistake, but you did. It means you can afford to make mistakes."
As the scent of a rabbit caught his nose, Ashdapple straightened out his crouch a little and scented the air. The wind blew towards him which was a relief - adjusting his position could cause the rabbit to become suspicious. He began to tread carefully, aware of where his paws were going. It wasn't long until the long ears of the rabbit came into sight and he crouched further, eyes widening as he pushed his full attention towards the prey. He crept closer to it, paying careful attention to how it reacted. It was as he pounced that it even thought of tensing, but it was dead before it had the thought to run. A single, swift blow - it didn't even make a sound. He carried it back and dropped it, before sitting down.
"Take your time," he repeated, in a slightly softer tone. "This is not a competition. You can readjust your position with certain types of prey, and you can afford a chase with others. It's about finding where your strengths lie, not where your weaknesses are. I'm good at catching fast prey like rabbits and squirrels because I have a good judgement of distance and when to pounce. Figure out your strengths and build on them. Don't dwell on what you've done wrong; think about what you could've done better."

Needleleaf Needleleaf beamed proudly at the young apprentice. At long last the apprentice had caught something. Sure she'd probably sent the other fish running but she'd finally caught a fish and that was all she had been tasked to do. "You've done it young one, next time be careful though. When you finally gain your warrior name other cats aren't going to like it if you scare off the other prey you're hunting. But for now you've done well and it's clear you're taking in some skills," Giving her pelt a quick groom she meowed, "Why don't we head back to camp and see if we can catch anything on the way back? I don't think we'll be catching any prey and I don't imagine Rowansong is all the keen on getting his pelt wet anymore." She went over to where she'd placed her other two fishes that she had caught and picked them up. Hopefully Rowansong would catch something on the way back, she suddenly realized that between the three of them that he had been the only one not to catch something. Needleleaf realized that they had been so focused on the young apprentice that he probably didnt' even think to catch something himself.
Rowansong Rowansong watched his sister leave, before meowing to Rosepaw, "Wow you squeaked a compliment out of her, that's rare. But I just want to say I'm very proud of you. You've shown a lot of improvement for someone who isn't very good at fishing. Guess we'll make a fisher cat of you yet," Twitching his tail with amusement he continued, "Let's go see if we can catch a mouse or two, I'm the only one of us who has yet to catch something and I don't think it'd be good if I didn't come back with at least something!" He moved from the lakeside after his sister and back into the trees. As he followed his sister and looked back to try and make sure the apprentice was keeping up he tried to sniff the air for prey.

Sorrelfall observed Ashdapple, a growing sense of annoyance causing her to lash her tail back and forth. He was being perfectly reasonable, giving her constructive criticism, but it was always hard to hear someone else tell her where she had gone wrong. "Thanks for the criticism, but I don't need help," Sorrelfall said bitterly. She felt a little threatened at how easily he had caught the rabbit - and here she was, only having made one catch after spending practically the entire day in the forest, and a messy one at that. Sorrelfall thought about her conversation with Ashdapple back at camp, and forced herself to calm down and think reasonably. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she forced her voice to be cool and calm. "I'll keep your words in mind. Thank you for taking the time to hunt with me." With that, Sorrelfall dropped back into a hunter's crouch, looking for her next piece of prey. What did I do well? Sorrelfall asked herself, breathing in the scents around her but not paying any attention. My crouch was decent. I kept a lookout for anything to cause a loud noise. I forgot to check if I was upwind - come to think of it, I do that a lot. She detected a vole ahead of her, downwind, this time. It was foraging in the undergrowth, blissfully unaware that Sorrelfall was creeping up on it. Following Ashdapple's instructions, Sorrelfall realized she could watch the vole for a decent amount of time. At some point it would look up, or smell her, or something, but it was with wonder that she simply observed it for a moment or so, before pouncing and giving it a swift bite on the neck. Sorrelfall brought it over to where she had put her mouse, now feeling a little bit better. @borderline (also I like your signature - Warriors is literally in the fantasy genre, it's not farfetched to have lgbtq+ characters) Rosepaw beamed at their praise. She leapt up from where she had been sitting to follow them, the prey she had caught in her mouth, watching as Rowansong sniffed the air - she copied him. Rosepaw was much better at catching land prey than fish. Her paws seemed to have a mind of their own, but catching prey among the undergrowth involved manipulating her entire body to keep from making noise, and being swift and precise. Not only did it come easier, but it was more fun, somehow. The scent of prey was clouded by the fish in Rosepaw's mouth, so she ran a little faster to keep up with Rowansong and Needleleaf. She didn't want to be left behind. jayswing

Rowansong Rowansong meowed softly with amusement at the younger cat trying to sniff the air with the fish in her mouth, "You know it'd be much easier to smell for prey if you buried your fish somewhere. Don't worry I won't leave you behind while you bury it," Turning away from Rosepaw, he concentrated his efforts on smelling the air once more. The thick fog covered a good chunk of the scents but he could still smell the faint scent of mouse. Instinctively he fell into the hunter's crouch and began to move his paws forward. As drew closer he could see the mouse, the mouse couldn't detect him yet and by the time it would, Rowansong would make sure it was too late. When he was sure he was close enough he made the move to take the mouse's life with a swift jab with his claw. Happily he picked up his first fresh kill of the day, and made his way to see if the young apprentice had caught anything.

[ thank you~ it's pretty frustrating to me that people either go "we accept lgbt+ characters! but they can't be trans because they can't transition!" because that's not...that's not how being trans works...and then there's the flip side of "no lgbt+ characters because this is supposed to be realistic (: like...full offense but what's realistic about a cat clan with a hierarchy? as someone who works with cats on a regular basis, there's no true hierarchy. the strongest one might be a little more respected and the weakest might be more liable to being harmed, but that's about it. (the trans thing especially upsets me, as i'm a trans man & being unable to have a character i relate to kinda hugely sucks. it's why i tend to struggle in finding new clans that i want to join; they straight up say they accept lgbt+ but the plot twist is that they only accept lgb.) [wheeze] thank u for coming to my ted talk! onto the rp post ]
It seemed that Ashdapple was relatively unfazed by Sorrelfall's words, and he simply watched her with a blank gaze. He had known older apprentices to get frustrated when being told what to do or what they could do better - but it didn't seem to be a confidence thing with this she-cat. He wasn't sure what it was, but his whiskers twitched when she back-tracked, and he nodded.
Again - he stayed entirely still and watched her with a keen eye. She seemed to be taking her time, now...which likely meant that she was taking his advice to heart. He nodded a little and continued to watch, assessing her movements. That was a much, much better cat - and his ears perked up as she returned.
"That was well done," he said. "If you take your time to think through things - whether it be hunting, fighting, or even speaking - then you're more likely to do better."
He hoped that he wasn't coming off as a know-it-all. Then again, he'd been told that he was worse; being a know-it-all wouldn't be such a bad thing. Ashdapple was a blunt cat and he didn't like lying. Telling the truth did not make a popular cat (for the most part), but it made him an effective mentor. Sometimes, he was willing to sacrifice things to make others stronger, in a way.

Sootleg nodded,"Then we go the cloudy forest." That was his favorite to practice his hunting skills and gave him a good pass time and a challenge.Sadly, the noise was a pain in the tail worse than even Thistlevine's voice. With that, he gestured to the camp and proceed to walk out. Thistlevine sighed,"Don't mind him, his been on edge for while.I don't what is bothering him." The tuxedo she-cat mewed gently to voleclaw."Come on, let's go."

Rosepaw stopped walking to do as Rowansong said, embarrassed that she hadn't thought of doing that. She needed to be smarter if she wanted to be made a warrior anytime soon. With the fish buried, and the older cats ahead of her, Rosepaw dropped into a crouch and scented the air. The forest was heavy and still, and, frankly, it still smelt of fish. It was rapidly beginning to stale, however, and through the tangy smell came another one, warm and sweet. Rosepaw moved her head in the direction it came from, and gently moved forward, balancing her weight across all four paws as to not make any noise. The squirrel she was stalking hadn't seen her yet, and she used this to her advantage. When she was close enough, she leapt forward. Her killing bite was a little messy, but all in all she had still caught some prey. Rosepaw quickly dug up her fish and began to catch up to Rowansong and Needleleaf. jayswingSorrelfall nodded. "Thank you. I'll try to take your advice." She felt like a kit, being taught her lesson after misbehaving. She didn't have to ask to know that her littermates never got treated this way. Of course, they never acted like she had - their temperaments were cool and calm, whereas Sorrelfall found herself quick to anger, and faced with never-ending frustration. Her tail still waving behind her as a way to burn off her nervous energy, Sorrelfall stalked further into the forest, not bothering to check if Ashdapple was following. She almost hoped he wouldn't, so that she could be alone. It was as if he was punishing her - Sorrelfall was sure they'd never even had a proper conversation before this. Realizing how tense she was, Sorrelfall stopped and forced herself to calm down. Again. She glanced behind her to see what Ashdapple was doing. @borderline (it really doesn't make sense, I wish people would realize that having lgbtq+ characters is more realistic than purple eyes) Voleclaw nodded. "Even the best of us get bothered," he said before following Sootleg out of camp. Voleclaw wasn't sure how much he believed the words he had just said. After all, he certainly didn't get bothered. But then again, Voleclaw had also been told that he seemed two dimensional at times. Like he had one side to him - instead of an ocean, he was a puddle, and everybody could see him in his entirety. Even if this was true, Voleclaw didn't think it was too bad. The most important thing was that they saw how loyal he was, to his Clan and leader. That was what he wanted more than anything. blackfrost

Rowansong Rowansong saw the young apprentice approach him with a squirrel and his tail turned up with delight, this was turning into a very good hunting patrol. Rosepaw had already caught two things, he had caught one and his sister had gotten quite a few fish; there was no way the fresh kill pile wouldn't be full now. "That's a nice catch, I'm sure Voleclaw will be proud." He meowed happily, "I suppose we should sneak on back to camp and see if we get our bellies full! Well...after we make sure the queens and elders have eaten of course," Though he kind of wished he could eat now, he knew better then to break the warrior code. Besides, what kind of role model would he be if he did bite in the prey? He shook his head softly, "Come on, let's go find Needleleaf. She must have run off ahead with out us." Quickly he bent down took his mouse in his mouth, and started to follow his sister's scent. He trotted through the forest, and felt the dirt soft beneath his paws as he moved. He could see his sister's outline barely up ahead as he dodged around the thick trees towards her. "There you are!" His sister hissed as he came up to her, "Are you both ready to head back, or do we want to do more hunting still?"

[ sorry for late reply! but yes, far more realistic than purple eyes. people think that albino cats would be more likely to exist in the wild (they're usually killed/die early) than the possibility of lgbt (which are proven to exist; many animals have their preferences). ]
"Sometimes, it is better to stop and think or take some time to clear your thoughts and learn from your mistakes," he twitched an ear and sat down, allowing for Sorrelfall to go ahead a little. He was not going to micromanage this situation; he was satisfied with what he had done so far.
It seemed that, to a degree, treating her like an apprentice was working. Though he would've rather to have treated her as an equal, it seemed to work better. Yes, the situation could've been far better, he knew - but as far as talking to temperamental cats went, this time seemed to go relatively well. He twitched his ears and watched with narrowed eyes, only moving so that he could see the shape of her through the fog. He didn't want to lose track of her - this part of the forest unnerved him to a degree and had never been his favourite place.
"We can leave whenever you're satisfied," he said, turning his head to watch a bird fly past. "How are you feeling?"

Rosepaw was positively buzzing with excitement, and followed Rowansong with a bounce in her step. Voleclaw would be proud - oftentimes they didn't have anything to say to each other, as they were almost exact opposites in terms of personality. Her paws itched to be used, despite the fact they had already been out in the forest for quite a long time. It occurred to Rosepaw that one day she would no longer be full of this much energy, and she used a moment to savor it. Then, she turned her attention back to Rowansong and Needleleaf. "I'm ready," She said, heavily muffled through her prey. jayswingSorrelfall's fur prickled slightly as she paused, trying to figure out a way to respond. She felt resentful, but that obviously wasn't something she was going to say out loud. Ashdapple was expecting an answer like, "better," or maybe another snappy comment. Sorrelfall could choose to simply not respond at all, but this didn't seem appealing to her, given the circumstances. "I'm not going to force you to stay out here any longer than you want to," she said, choosing her words carefully. "But I'll most likely be out here a little longer." The mist felt cool on her pelt, and was somewhat refreshing. It couldn't hurt to stay a little longer. @borderline (there are even (basically) canon lgbt cats in the books but people seem to ignore that) ( risotto nero's luvr I have Dapplenose and Birchstem open)

(Gah! So so sorry- school's been killing me ) Lilyclaw waved her tail briefly, thinking. "Not exactly, Loki." she mewed. "Clans would fight and die for each other, to protect one another. Would your twolegs do that?" She straightened. "That's the first rule in the Warrior Code. It's a list of rules we follow, to keep us safe. It was given to us by StarClan- our warrior ancestors in Silverpelt, the night sky." She could sense the little cat's excitement and gave him a sweeping scathing glance. We're supposed to be keeping him out, not excited to be here. "Believe me when I say this- our lives are hard. It most certainly is not an adventure." jayswing Taiyou

RowansongRowansong turned back towards his sister, "You heard the young one, time to head back to camp...and get our bellies full!" He let out a soft purr. The day had been full of good hunting but he was starting to grow a bit exhausted. He half hoped that if he took the young apprentice back to camp with her fish that Stormstar would see and give him his own apprentice. Maybe he'd let him have one of Fogpelt's kits soon, as the young kits were nearing the age of needing to be apprenticed. Shaking his head, he moved in front of his sister and stared to excitedly and proudly lead the way back to camp. NeedleleafNeedleleaf slowly began to follow her brother, turning towards the younger she-cat she meowed, "Maybe you should show off your catch to Voleclaw. I'm sure he'll want to see your fish before some elder or other warrior eats it...or even better see if he hasn't eaten yet and say you caught it just for him." She paused a few moment in thought before adding on, "That is if you want to of course," She had noticed that the younger apprentice seemed to strive to be different from her father, but secretly Needleleaf suspected that the young apprentice actually admired her father and wanted to be great warrior like him. Though she'd never tell Rosepaw such. As she moved through the trees after her brother's shape which seemed to disappear in the fog, she could start to smell the familiar scents of the camp...of home, and better yet, the thought of the fresh kill pile and food. Maybe she was hungrier then she'd like to admit. @jasper Loki"-our lives are hard. It most certainly is not an adventure." Lilyclaw's words stuck in his mind only fueling him with a little bit more of excitement, and tinge of fear. Could he really leave his twolegs? To live as these wildcats? But if he was honest the more he heard the more he wanted to learn, and the more he learned the more he was beginning to regret his easy life. Slowly he meowed thoughtfully, "But surely there must be things that make it worth it, right?" He tilt his head curiously at both cats, "Otherwise you'd both be running off to live with twolegs right?" Or was he wrong, would cats really still be wild even if they didn't find anything worth it in living by themselves? The young tom didn't really think so, but he wanted to hear from these cats. rivereyes replying to snowshoe and thorn camp
"Well if you ever want someone to hang out with, I'm always here!" Rivereyes exclaimed, his high voice emitting a friendly tone. "I'll try with all that I've got!" With a sudden switch in tone, he reassured Snowshoe with a warmer voice, "Don't worry, Thorn is going to be a great warrior!" Flicking his tail, he repeated his previous question, "Well, anyways, should we eat? Or do you want to do something else? I don't care what you choose." He fidgeted his paws while standing still, awaiting an answer from both of them.
maplerose replying to xiu the forest
"Right," Maplerose answered, her eyes shifting to where Xiu had pointed. "We can meet next sun-high. I'll be waiting by the border in the direction of your home. You better not be late! It's a very professional job after all." The last bits of her reply were spoken in a melodic tone as if she were trying to replicate Xiu's slight tinge of comedy in his words. She wondered if any other clans had ever done something like this before. Teaming up with a big cat... It seemed a little crazy, seeing as though they never showed up in this forest. Heck, even seeing a dog was rare, despite twolegs living somewhat close by. "Woah, a new leg?" Maplerose's blue and green eyes widened in amazement, never hearing of such a recovery like that. Cats in the wild just dealt with losing a leg or two. Getting a replacement out here was impossible and hearing of the medicine that Xiu had seen made her feel envious. Kittypets seemed to have it so easy... Food being handed to them, injuries being fixed so easily like that... Clan cats were noble warriors who.. Maplerose cut off her own thoughts, realizing that she had already gone through these thoughts before. Plus, she was sorta... friends with him now. Maybe more acquaintances than friends.
"Small? Why? Weren't your brothers and sisters the same size as you?" She paused to think of how to reply to his explanation of his mother's whereabouts. "Er.. Don't you miss her?" Maplerose's question was simple. She didn't want to keep on degrading him about being a kittypet, since he seemed respectable. Plus, he had stated that this was.. normal for a kittypet. Dear Starclan, twolegs would really do something like that? Maplerose thought to herself, baffled by the idea of being separated from your kin like that.
Maplerose kept quiet as she listened to Xiu ramble about his admiration for his owners. She slowly began to realize that it really was like they were family. She could understand why they would be so comforting to him, seeing as she would've loved to have her parents adore her like that. "Oh... Oh wow," Maplerose purred, "I wish my family were as loving as yours - I mean, of course they loved me, but... We were distant, I guess." The realization that she never really got to get closer to her kin before their fates saddened her a bit, but she brushed it off quickly.
"Yeah. Death isn't the end of everything for us, I guess," Maplerose explained, "Medicine cats and leaders can receive messages from them through dreams. We can choose to talk to them by visiting The Whispering Cave. They're like our guardians, although they can't physically show up in the living world..." She looked down, wondering if Xiu could somehow contact Starclan using the cave. Outsiders couldn't do something like that, could they?

Rosepaw nodded at Needleleaf's words. She would most definitely do that, if Voleclaw happened to be in camp. It was likely that he was on a patrol, but even if someone ate the fish before he saw, Needleleaf and Rowansong could still testify that she really had caught it, and that she did some good work today. She was starting to fall behind a bit, so Rosepaw ran in a short burst of speed until she was right beside the warriors. After all, pretty soon she would be one - she was fourteen moons old now. Although a word never slipped, she was eagerly awaiting the day that she would be blessed with her warrior name. Rosepaw lifted her head as they came closer to camp, attempting to look larger than she was. jayswing

Webpaw | Camp | Open Webpaw stretched low at the entrance of the apprentices' den, releasing the aches of sleep. Having only been an apprentice for just over a moon, she was still getting used to her new duties. Which included waking up at a good time for training, or patrols. As she gazed at the sky, her blue eyes widened in horror. "I slept in!" the black she-cat hissed, wanting to pull her paws over her face and hide under a tree root. She had to find something to do quickly to make up for it. Bounding towards the elders' den, she skidded to a halt and hesitated. Had the other apprentices managed to get there already? They could be collecting moss right then! Looking around the camp, she froze, not knowing what to do. Could she find one of the others and ask? Or maybe there was a patrol going out soon she could go with.

[ @ jasper: yeah i mean - the erins never state it outright, but both raven & barley and tallstar & jake seem to be pretty prominent couples, and there are various others i could probably think of. not to mention the few characters who end up being called toms when they originally written as she-cats and vice versa; even if it's inconsistency, it's pretty amusing that these people overlook it. (let's not mention the pelt / eye colour changes, that's just Pure Inconsistency.) ]
Ashdapple considered this for a moment, staying behind her - not too close, but keeping her within his sights. He twitched his ears and glanced upwards thoughtfully, tensed briefly as something went past his paws. Probably a mouse or a squirrel, but he didn't look down to check. The fog felt like it was thickening - or perhaps that was just his imagination. A forest like this sure knew how to play on paranoia.
"I'll stay for a little while longer," he said, glancing over his shoulder. "Some time away from camp is good."
[ @ beef: welcome back (ish) don't sweat anything, man! ]
Next sun-high. That probably meant sunrise. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully before he bobbed his head in a nod, agreeing to her terms. It seemed like a good idea to meet at the border near his home and not halfway into the territory - better for leaving if he was rejected, and it was closer and easier to walk to. Her amazement at the new leg made him chuckle softly - humans had amazing inventions, he had to admit. The quality of life of a cat could be greatly improved, survival rates were improved...he wondered how long a cat in the wild lived. Probably not that long, he thought. Their age had to be halved, at least.
"I was smaller than my littermates," he told her, amusement tinging his tone. "I do miss her sometimes, but it's a normal part of life. Eventually, a cat will be separated from their kin - be it through death or leaving them behind...or them leaving you behind, I guess," his whiskers twitched. "Growing used to being without a parental figure wasn't that bad. As a kitten, I was rather anxious about it. Nowadays, I don't mind so much."
Xiu wondered if there was a strong sense of family in the forest. Probably. It sounded like it would be harder to cope with. He exhaled slowly and moved his mind from that, to the more positive - like his family.
"Humans usually only take on a cat if they want to have the responsibility," he said. "That doesn't mean there aren't bad humans, but since I'm a specific breed or a specific type, mine were willing to handle it and I love them in return. They are very good to me."
Hearing that death wasn't the end was a surprise. He listened with perked ears, and took a moment to consider it. Their ancestors spoke to them? It sounded like...ghosts, or something spiritual. He didn't want to liken it to a haunting, however - it seemed like something sacred. A religion? he was amused at the thought, but it sounded like that. Xiu thought for a little longer, before he nodded his head and squinted thoughtfully at Maplerose. Everything was so much to take in and it was all interesting. He'd heard of some house cats shunning the wild cats, but he could, he supposed, see both sides of the story. Where do stray cats come in? he wondered. They certainly didn't have hierarchies or a religion. But he decided not to pay much attention to that, instead focusing on what he'd been told.
"Does that mean you can talk to those who have passed on, by going to the Whispering Cave?" he asked, leaning forward a little. "That sounds...very interesting. I've never really heard of anything like it. My owners have their beliefs, but I could not begin to explain them when I barely understand them myself. House cats...we don't really have a religion or anything to follow, usually," he laughed quietly. "Those who understand humans can sometimes follow them, but mostly we have no true beliefs."

Needleleaf (@jasper ) Needleleaf felt relief as she entered into the camp entrance. She approached the fresh kill pile and dropped her fresh kill on the pile beside her brother's catch. Turning towards the younger apprentice she meowed, "Why don't you check to make sure the queens and elders have eaten? Then we could eat together, I mean, if you want to of course," Needleleaf didn't want to force the young apprentice to be with her more then she had to. She knew that Rosepaw was probably nervous to be around her, especially considering how rude she had been. Quickly she added, "You should probably also see if you can find Voleclaw,"

Sorrelfall cursed inside her head, but said nothing out loud. Instead, she moved further into the fog, letting it consume her. She couldn't quite see Ashdapple anymore, but she could smell his position. That was good enough - she could pretend he wasn't there, while possibly catching one or two more pieces of prey. After all, this part of the forest was full of prey. It shouldn't be too hard. Sorrelfall dropped into a crouch and scented the air. There was nothing close by, so she carefully ventured a little further. Still nothing. Sorrelfall turned to head back to Ashdapple, trying not to feel too bad about it. @borderline (it's just ridiculous) Rosepaw nodded. "I'd be honored to eat with you," she said. She meant it - sometimes it got boring, having every meal with the other apprentices. If she was eating with the warriors, she was becoming more and more like them. "I'll see if everybody has eaten," Rosepaw told Needleleaf, affirming that she would follow the instructions given. She turned and went quickly to the queens' and elders' den, carrying both pieces of prey with her. After making sure that they were fine (and giving an elder the squirrel she had caught), Rosepaw scanned the camp for Voleclaw and his mottled coat. She braced herself for disappointment, as oftentimes Voleclaw was only there when she wished he wasn't. She had caught a fish though, a miracle, so maybe another miracle could happen. But no, he wasn't in the warriors' den or around camp. Rosepaw made her way back to Needleleaf with the fish still in her mouth. jayswingDapplenose finished her the prey she had been eating with a flourish, and stood to begin the rest other day. She supposed it was right around the time to go on a patrol or something, instead of lazing around the camp all day. That was generally frowned upon, even if she was helping the queens. Dapplenose stretched, and looked around camp to familiarize herself with the day. Other cats were eating, conversing, being good warriors, and then she saw Webpaw, standing outside the elders' den. She looked stuck, and Dapplenose couldn't help but approach the young apprentice. "Hi, Webpaw," she said, approaching it carefully. "How are you today?" foxstride

Webpaw stood rigid, though as soon as she heard some cat speak she almost jumped out of her fur. Quite seriously: her fur fluffed out and she jumped before crouching down. On realising it was Dapplenose, she sat and licked at her chest as her fur flattened, in an attempt to look casual. "Hi, Dapplenose," she mewed, blinking at her - the nervous energy crackling in the quick motions of her eyes. "I-- I overslept," she whispered, bowing her head in shame. "I just wondered if the elders needed anything, or if any cat was going on patrol - I know I should make it up to the Clan by working even harder!" The apprentice stopped, then tilted her head, "Are you going anywhere? Do you need any help? I can help you!"
@jasper [ ooc: I don't usually snipe, heh. Thanks for interacting with Webpaw! ]

[ it is ridiculous, jasper
and yes, jayswing c: zinnia is free, so absolutely~ ]
Though it was a little dry and slow-paced to continue walking, he kept on regardless. He found himself moving a little slower and throwing glances over his shoulder more often - but he'd said that he was going to stay for a little while, so he didn't particularly want to just abandon Sorrelfall. Ashdapple exhaled softly and paused to catch a nearby squirrel, but it escaped his claws. Typical. He snorted softly and shook his head, trotting forward so as to keep up with the other warrior. This walk had turned into something quieter, and he didn't mind it too much. Maybe the she-cat had calmed down, or something.
He saw her vanish a little further into the fog and exhaled softly, pausing to get his bearings. A clearer day would've been nice, he thought, but pushed it aside and continued onward. It was all he could do.

NeedleleafNeedleleaf felt a prickle of relief when the apprentice said that she would want to eat with her, she had been worried that she had been overly cruel that morning and it would pushed Rosepaw away. She watched the apprentice run around for a bit before approaching the pile once more. Needleleaf noticed her brother poking around the pile a bit more then she was. She was about to ask him what he was doing before he let out a happy meow, โThis is perfect!โ and chose a nice fat looking mouse out of the pile and started walking towards Zinnasong. She let out a purr of amusement; of course he had to pick out the best prey he could find. Her brotherโs affection for the younger cat werenโt very secretive. When she turned away from her brother, she saw the young apprentice approach her with the fish still in her mouth. โGuess you didnโt find Voleclaw? Just as well, why donโt you put your fish on the pile and pick us out something to share? Unless you really want to eat your fish?โ @jasper RowansongThe instant Rowansong saw that Zinnasong was in the camp clearing his heart practically jumped. He rather liked the other cat, and he had at times tried to make efforts to get to know them. It was a bit hard though, as duties did often keep them separate, much to Rowansongโs disappointment. He searched the fresh kill pile as quick as he could to find the perfect prey that he thought Zinnasong would like. When he found the mouse he wanted to give to the younger warrior he quickly snatched it within his jaws and made his way over to them. Dropping the mouse before Zinnasongโs paws, he meowed, โHello Zinnasong, would you like to eat together today?โ Rowansong held his breath as he waited for the other cat to respond, he could feel his own heartbeat inside of his own head. He hoped that the other cat couldnโt see how nervous he was. (@borderline okay cool! )

"Hey, it's okay to oversleep once in a while," Dapplenose said, hoping to soothe the apprentice. Anxiety was almost radiating from her, and to be honest, it made Dapplenose feel a tad uncomfortable. "Just don't make a habit of it and you'll be fine. Do you want to round up another cat and go on a patrol with me?" Dapplenose couldn't remember who Webpaw's mentor was, but it wasn't against the code to take an apprentice out without one. Dapplenose was a capable warrior, and sometimes it took more than one cat to fully train an apprentice. foxstride (No problem.) Sorrelfall could hear Ashdappple coming towards her, so she paused in her steps. She would like at least a few more moments of quiet before facing him again. Blinking, Sorrelfall lifted her gaze upwards. The trees rose out of the ground and towered over her. She couldn't see the tops of them, but she knew they were there, within the mist. Climbing trees was possibly the only thing that Sorrelfall was actually good at, due to her long tail and small frame. It would be more noteworthy if birds happened to come to MistClan territory, but mostly they stayed away. Still, climbing was one of Sorrelfall's favorite things to do. There wasn't any reason that she couldn't right now, she just needed to inform Ashdapple. With a set goal in mind, Sorrelfall started walking again, impatient to reach the older warrior. @borderline "I'd much rather someone else eat the fish I caught," Rosepaw said, placing her fish down with satisfaction. That, and Rosepaw wasn't all too keen on fish - they were slimy and had scales, and sometimes she gagged when she felt them against her throat. She almost shivered just thinking about it. Instead, she picked up a small rabbit - larger than a mouse or squirrel, but not so large that there would be anything left to go to waste. Rosepaw looked at Needlesong, waiting for approval. jayswing

Webpaw nodded slowly at Dapplenose's words, somewhat calmed by them. She wouldn't make a habit of it, she decided. Maybe she could find a way to wake up at dawn all the time. Then she would have more time to work for her Clan. "I won't!" she announced, her tail swishing to the side. "Yes! Let's patrol. Please." She looked around eagerly for another cat to join them, excited to be able to get out of camp and hunt quickly. The black apprentice wondered what she'd be able to catch. She had to perfect her hunting crouch some more, she decided - she twitched and moved too much.

Needleleaf Needleleaf purred with amusement as the apprentice put the fish on the pile. She could understand Rosepawโs dislike of fish. Not very many cats liked fish, Needleleaf supposed she was one of the few exceptions; she loved the taste of fish. It was a strange taste but a good one, in her opinion. Her brother on the other hand was probably more like Rosepaw, preferring rabbits and mice to fish. When the apprentice brought over a rabbit to share, Needleleaf let out small purr, โThat looks perfect Rosepaw, why donโt we go over there and eat?โ With her tail, she pointed near the entrance of the warriors den. @jasper

The debate between napping and doing something productive went on in their head, but Zinniasong's thoughts were ultimately interrupted by the tom that approached them. They blinked a few times as they processed the words spoken to them, and then they tilted their head to the side, gaze flicking down to the mouse. For a moment, they considered it - before they nodded, ears twitching.
"Sure," they mewed softly, sitting up straighter and shaking themselves out. Eating was definitely better than napping, and now that they thought about it - their stomach was empty. As if on queue, it grumbled quietly.
Zinniasong moved their attention from the prey to Rowansong - was it them, or did he seem nervous? Probably just me, they thought with some amusement, whiskers twitching. With such an uneventful day, it was nice to be able to interact with somebody; maybe they could rope him into going for a run or to explore, they weren't sure which. The forest had always been something they adored, and they liked the freedom of running, or even hunting.
"How has your day been?" they asked, to continue something of a conversation.
[ - ] Ashdapple tilted his head as he approached Sorrelfall, slowing in his pace once he was closer. His tail twitched as he glanced to the side, wishing he could see through the fog. He wondered if there were any cats who could see further distances in this. Somehow, he doubted it - and he shook his head at the thought. He twitched an ear at Sorrelfall in quiet greeting, waiting to see what she was going to do.

Rowansong
For a few moments Rowansong stared stupidly at Zinniasong, holding his breath still, not realizing that Zinniasong had nodded their head and said, โSureโ. When he realized what he was doing, Rowansong let his breath go, accidently letting out a noise upon doing so. Embarrassment flooded through him but he quietly forced himself to act normal and sit down next to Zinniasong.
As he settled, he quietly took a bite of the prey he had set down between them. As he began to focus his efforts on eating, he had not noticed that Zinniasong had asked him a question. Between mouthfuls he looked up and went, โWait whatโฆwhat?โ before he processed what Zinniasong had asked, โOh my day has been great! I went hunting with my sister and Rosepaw this morning! She is a great little apprentice; quite nervous though, canโt wait to see what kind of warrior sheโll be!โ He tried to keep his meows as cheerful sounding as possible, though he realized suddenly that he was saying his words quite fast.
Turning to actually look at the other cat, he meowed, โWhat about you? Anything exciting?โ
