Ah, but I just meant a face we haven't seen in a while. If you don't mind me asking, were you Novi on the original forums as well?

ah. i see. honestly, i cant remember xD older forums as in the last one we moved from or the old, old platform? i found 'the forums' way back in, like, 6th grade so it's been about 7 years maybe? and i did a lot of on again off again, new profiles stuff so i cycled through a lot of names, depending on what i was interested in at the time. but there is a good chance i was Novi or The Novice or some variation of it, though, since i had this name in 2015 on a different website. if that makes any sense at all XD

The Novice sounds familiar. ^^ I meant Eve platform and Hoopla one. If there was a forums before Eve (and I think I heard mention of an unofficial one) then I wasn't aware of it, so wouldn't have recognized you. And that makes sense! I'm pretty familiar with the faces on the forums, so I was trying to remember you. I've always had this name, but I doubt you'd recognize me. ^^

i cant remember the names. i just remember, like, 2 platforms ago was where i started. then the admins or whoever announced we were moving to a new platform (the last one) and there was this huge uproar because it was so different. that one i remember a lot of people likened it to facebook. and then the admins declared that they didnt have the time or couldnt be bothered or something to run the whole thing anymore and then everybody mass shifted to proboards (or something else). but everybody just started breaking all the rules cuz there was no point since it was shutting down anyways. lol

The common consensus has come to that Hoopla forums cost money and that we weren't worth the bill. Ha, yes. I remember that. I was there right to the end, but mostly stayed in the WFF. The greatest rule I broke was dropping links to this place. ^^ A rule I do not ever regret breaking. But in the end, I've come to prefer this one anyway. I like it when you can actually talk to the mods.

Can't do anything about that. *shrugs* Nor do I have an opinion on it that can't be changed at the drop of the hat. What I would like to see was more people in the WFF. That doesn't necessarily require for the books to continue, or, for that matter stop. Also, why does that avatar look familiar?

(Just letting you know but you might want to fix all the graphics and fonts. Mobile users like myself, have a majority of the words cut off. I even flipped it horizontally and that did little to help, as it still cuts off the very right of the page. I would go into desktop mode but my phone would become very slow.)

Information
Description As the clans face overpopulation and starvation, decisions will have to be made. Although Violetfire's bold suggestion will drive her into exile, she's not alone. Tagging along with her is the ever annoying Blizzardheart. Together, the two will journey farther than any other cat has gone and will witness things never before seen to clan cat kind.
Something is moving against the clans. The volcanic, the oceanside, and the forest dwelling will have to rely on each other to face it. What lies in the shadows can be frightening, but when ruled by a kind heart, it's not so bad.

Prologue The forest was in an uproar. Voices could be heard over the storm raging above them.
"Of course the clans will prevail. They always have."
"But this threat is far bigger than anything they had ever seen before."
"It doesn't matter. We will lead them into victory."
There was a particularly violent crack of thunder and lightning flashed behind a tall, imposing figure standing on a rock above the rest.
"Enough." One word silenced the rest. "We will survive, but it is foolish to think we can do it alone."
There were murmurs of surprise and a little unease as another cat appeared behind him.
Extra This fanfic is a remake of a previous one I started. I decided to go a bit of a different route from the original plot I had in mind. To prevent confusion, I will say that this story happens in two parts, one in the past and one in the present, which will be indicated by the text color. Each chapter will stick to a single time period, but there will not be a set pattern (ie. Past, Present, Past, Present, etc.). For now, the order will depend on which story line I feel like continuing, although your requests, if any, will be taken into account. The past allegiances is a simplified version mainly because (as the description suggests), the story won't really involve them. As the story progresses, I will need to add more allegiances. However, I will put what chapter you should read before taking a peak at them as some may contain spoilers.
Chapters Chapter One - Awakening
"Come on, wake up." Something stabbed Emberkit in the side. The little kit groaned and batted a paw at whatever it was. "You've been sleeping for ages." The voice complained. "You can't possibly still be tired." "And what if I am?" Emberkit opened one eye sleepily. "Then I'll just have to drag you." His playmate dropped into a crouch. Emberkit yawned and stretched. "Alright, alright. I'm up." He clambered out of his nest, only to be stopped by a brown paw. He glanced up. His mother, Featherbreeze, gazed down at him gently. She licked him clean before releasing him. "Don't get into too much trouble, now." She purred. "Don't worry. I'll keep him out of trouble." "Thank you, Crookedkit." She watched the spiky kit puff out his chest before running out of the nursery, his tail waving behind him happily. Emberkit bounded after his friend. Their other denmates, Lightkit, Ebonykit, and Russetkit, were awaiting the day of their apprentice ceremonies and found themselves too good to be playing with the other kits and so the two were stuck with each other. Unlucky for Emberkit, Crookedkit was a very early riser. They were early enough to see the warriors wake up for their morning patrols. Their deputy noticed the kits and headed over, a purr rumbling in her chest. "Look at you two. Good morning." Her eyes glittered with amusement. From the expression on Emberkit's face, it was clear who the early bird was. "Good morning, Hazelstripe." Crookedkit sat up straighter. "Any way we can help?" His eyes lit up eagerly. "Stay out of trouble, maybe?" Hazelstripe tilted her head to one side. Even if Crookedkit told Featherbreeze he would keep Emberkit out of trouble, the majority of the time it was his fault they got into it. Crookedkit never seemed to know when to call it quits. "Of course. We don't get into nearly as much trouble as Lightkit, Ebonykit, and Russetkit, though." He protested. "It doesn't matter who gets into more trouble." Hazestripe informed them sternly. "You shouldn't get into trouble in the first place." Crookedkit bowed his head as she bounded off after swiping her tail over both their ears. It was their deputy's signature goodbye to the young ones. Emberkit sighed and yawned, still not fully awake. Crookedkit nudged him. "Come on. Let's finish exploring." Emberkit nodded in agreement. Leafclan's camp was nestled in the trees. Vines and moss hung from the branches to offer protection from the outside. Their nursery was under a tangle of root and vine with mud plugging any holes. It was actually quite comfortable. The first stop they'd made, on the other three kits' advice, had been the elder's den. Although not as large as the others, it was still spacious. It was just as protected from the elements as the nursery. The kits had trod on some warriors' tails in their den and watched some grumpy apprentices wake up in theirs. The next stop was a den that had lots of strange smells coming out of it. Crookedkit poked his head inside. Emberkit followed soon after. He was surprised that there was only one nest in the entire den. It was quite large. Perhaps the largest of them all. Tucked between twisting roots and rock were various leaves and berries and other things. Emberkit's eyes widened. "What's this place?" "I think it's the medicine cat den." Crookedkit padded in and sniffed at one of the little indents. "You're right." A voice startled them both. A large blue-grey tom padded into the light. A gentle purr rose from his throat. "Don't be scared. Sorry I startled you. I'm Stormpaw. Your mother is my mentor and Leafclan's medicine cat." Emberkit's ears flattened. "Aren't medicine cats not supposed to have kits?" That's what he'd heard anyways. While the warriors weren't paying attention to how loud they were speaking and who was around, Emberkit had overheard that he wasn't supposed to have been born at all. That his mother had betrayed the clan and their ancestors and all of it for a loner who didn't even stick around. Stormpaw looked troubled. "Well, yes. But things happen." Stormpaw sat down and curled his long tail around his paws. "Every life is a gift from Starclan. That includes yours, you know." Emberkit wasn't too convinced. "So then does that mean you take care of the clan all by yourself?" Crookedkit looked around, his eyes wide. There were a lot more indents than he'd thought and all seemed to be stuffed with one thing or another. Stormpaw purred. "I do. But the clans are at peace now, and so there's really not much for me to do other than keep the herbs clean and in a safe place." He paused as if thinking of something. Crookedkit tilted his head to one side, but Stormpaw shook his head. "But I do need to go out, so I'm going to have to ask you two to leave if you don't mind. I'd get in quite a bit of trouble if you did anything in here." "We wouldn't get you in trouble." Emberkit meowed quickly. Stormpaw purred. "No, but I can't take any chances." The two kits did as they were told and left. Crookedkit sighed. "That was the last den..." He grumbled and headed back towards the nursery until something caught his eyes. He headed over to a tree. Its roots were a bit worn, as if some cat had walked the same path over and over again. "It's a trail!" The kit's eyes brightened. "Let's follow it." He scrambled up the branch. Emberkit watched, his eyes wide. Crookedkit was making quick work and so the other kit had no choice but to follow. At the top of the trail was a twist of branches. If one didn't look where they put their paws, they could easily slip through and get it stuck. Emberkit glanced around. It appeared to be a den. Moss hung over the branches, although it was rather loose. In the center in what appeared to be a hole in the tree, was a nest. On the nest was a large lump of white. It rose and fell slowly. Crookedkit made his way towards the lump and poked it with his nose. Emberkit scowled. "Crookedkit." He hissed quietly. "That's someone sleeping. Hazelstripe and Featherbreeze told us not to make any trouble." "It's no trouble." A deep voice rumbled. Crookedkit jumped, his fur fluffing out until he looked like an even bigger spiky ball. He slipped and fell. Emberkit gasped and moved to help, but a large white paw beat him to it. It held Crookedkit up until he got his footing. The lump uncurled itself to reveal a cat even larger than any cat they'd seen before. "Hello there, little ones. What brings you here?" Crookedkit gaped, his eyes appeared to be even wider than an owl's. "W-we were just exploring." He stammered. "We'd already visited all the dens and got bored. And then we saw this and got curious" Emberkit piped up. The white tom looked down at them, amusement sparkling in his eyes. "Is that so? Curiosity and boredom make for a dangerous combination. And what did you think of them?" "They're all super big." Emberkit's face shifted as he remembered what they'd seen. "And they're all...root-y." "Rooty?" Crookedkit frowned. "Is that even a word?" Emberkit shook his head. He wasn't sure. "So, who are you?" He gazed up at him. "I'm Fallenstar. And I take it you are Emberkit," His dark green eyes shifted to Crookedkit. "And you must be Crookedkit." "You know our names?" Crookedkit's eyes widened. He purred. "Of course I do. I watch over all my clanmates, from the elders to the kits." He rose and nudged Crookedkit. "I'd say it's time you headed back now." Emberkit lead the way back down the path.
That night, Emberkit twisted and turned in the nest. His dream was black, but he could hear two voices. Although unable to make out what they were saying, their tones spoke volumes. Anger rose above the rest, but there was also fear. Hurt? Hesitation? There was a moment of silence followed by soft crying. Even if he couldn't see them, Emberkit wanted to comfort them. "Don't cry..." He whispered softly. "Don't cry..." Emberkit woke with a start. He could feel his mother's tongue brushing against the top of his head. "Are you okay, my love?" Her voice was low, but still comforting. "No one is crying." "Y-yea..It was just a dream." Emberkit snuggled into his mother's side and rested his head on her flank. It was warm. Closing his eyes, he wondered if he would return to the dream, but the rest of the night was calm.
Chapter Two - Closed Eyes Violetpaw raced through the forest. She couldn't feel the presence of her brother, Dapplepaw, any longer. As she came to the border, she skidded to a halt and turned around, a triumphant look on her face. "Ha! I-" She frowned. He wasn't anywhere to be seen. "Dapplepaw..." Violetpaw called out to him and headed back the way she came. Eventually she could hear voices and she poked her head through the bushes. A scowl formed on her face at the sight of her brother chatting happily with Lilypaw. The shecat was a bit older than them and Dapplepaw had been padding after her since the beginning of their apprenticeship three moons ago. With a huff, she whirled around and made her way back to the border. This time, she closed her eyes and walked slowly. Lilypaw and her brother's voices melted in the background. Eventually she wanted to know the territory by heart. It could save her life one day...Although her mentor, Hollowflight, thought it was a bit overkill for all warriors to be able to do it with their eyes closed, but Violetpaw kept at it anyways. The leaves were wet under her paws and the smells of the forest seemed to be heightened after such a fresh rain. The salt smell was the easiest to identify, even if it was far away from her home. She had only seen it from a distance, but it was probably one of the most amazing things in the whole area. Second only to the Great Tree that acted as a meeting place for the five clans. Her first and only gathering had been incredible. So many new faces and smells. Patrols rarely ran into each other. It was almost as if they coordinated them to avoid the others, which was a bit strange. There was no need for hostility, right? The clans were at peace. Although there did seem to be a bit of a competition on the kits factor...At the gathering, all the leaders had listed out queens and their kits. Although it made sense to be proud of them, they had all seemed as if they were bragging. Violetpaw's thoughts were interrupted as she bumped into something hard and soft. Stumbling back a little, it took her eyes a moment to readjust to being open. "Huh?" A white figure sat in front of her. "You!" Her fur fluffed up in annoyance and she had to fight back a groan. Blizzardpaw. His tail swished back and forth calmly, brushing the leaves around him aside. For a moment she was captivated, watching curiously. After a quick shake of her head, she glanced around and noticed the border marker behind her. Well behind her...She had passed it while in thought. "W-why didn't you stop me?" She demanded, hating the look of amusement in his eyes. "You looked to be so in thought, I hadn't wanted to disrupt you..." His voice rumbled in his chest. Violetpaw scowled. "That's a lousy reason." "What were you thinking about?" He tilted his head, ignoring her previous statement entirely. "That's none of your concern." Violetpaw whirled around and started back. The fur on the back of her neck prickled, as if sensing Blizzardpaw's pale blue eyes on her. Chapter Three - The Three Clans
"Crookedkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Crookedpaw. Your mentor will be Halfsun. I know Halfsun will pass down all she knows on to you." Fallenstar stepped back as Crookedpaw padded forward to touch noses with Halfsun. "Crookedpaw, Emberpaw!" The clan cheered the new apprentices. Crookedpaw couldn't seem to contain himself. He purred happily. "Can you believe it? We're finally apprentices." Emberpaw nodded in agreement. It had been a long wait. Lightpaw, Ebonypaw, and Russetpaw had had their ceremony ages ago and were nearing warrior age now. Not that it made any of them any more bearable. Hazelstripe padded over to them with Halfsun close by. "Alright you two." She meowed. "Let's get down to business. First off is a tour of the territory, not that you really need it." Her eyes glittered with amusement. Crookedpaw and Emberpaw had gotten into all sorts of trouble outside of camp. Sneaking out at night, passing borders on accident, and falling into sandtraps. Fallenstar probably hoped pairing one off with the deputy would help change that. And having one of the newer warriors who would understand the curiosity of an apprentice as the other would give them a nice start. They followed their new mentors out of camp. Leafclan had the most trees. They were tall and thick. Not much sunlight managed to get through. Their first stop was the border with Oceanclan. Emberpaw tasted the air and was hit with something new. "What's that?" Crookedpaw seemed to get the same thing. Hazelstripe purred. "I'm assuming you mean the salt smell. It's the great waters. Oceanclan always smells like it. It's how you tell them from far away. It's a very distinct smell." Emberpaw nodded. It really was. He couldn't see as many trees way past the border. "How come they don't have lots of trees like we do?" He tilted his head up. "It's because of the great waters. It's not suitable for the trees and when storms happen, they rise pretty high." Halfsun responded instantly. Hazelstripe gave a nod of approval as she continued. "The storms will also tear the trees down, but it doesn't get quite as far as here which is why it's a gradual change to no trees. We assume that their camp is somewhere more sheltered. But they mostly eat fish that get trapped in pools when the great waters recede. In the opposite direction of their inner territory is the Crystal Cave, which is where we share with our ancestors." "WOW." Crookedpaw's eyes were wide. "Are there cats who go their whole lives without visiting?" "Sure." Hazelstripe nodded. "It's mostly the medicine cats and deputies becoming leader that make the trip. Medicine cats visit every half moon. It's a bit of a distance, though." The four continued on their way. The next stop was the border with Fireclan. Off in the distance Emberpaw could see a towering mountain. Hazelstripe informed them that it was a volcano, although it was inactive. Before, it used to spew out liquid fire and ashes. It was at those times that all three clans would be forced to ban together. But it's been ages since that has happened. Fireclan also didn't seem to have as many trees as Leafclan, especially higher up the volcano. And those there were rather small. Nothing a cat could really climb. The clan's camp was tucked away somewhere on the side. Each territory also had certain herbs that only grew there and so it was vital that the clans share them. After the visit, they were allowed to head back. Emberpaw was grateful. He felt as if his paws would fall off from all the walking they'd done. Although Halfsun said it got easier, he found it difficult to believe. Once back at camp, Mistypelt padded over to them. She gave Crookedpaw a sniff and frowned. "Why didn't you come back with anything?" She demanded. He flattened his ears. Halfsun stepped forward. "We didn't do any hunting, Mistpelt." She replied quietly, but firmly. "We gave them a tour of the territory. Crookedpaw was a good listener and kept up well with us. You should be proud of him." Mistpelt just huffed and turned away. "Lightpaw brought something back on her first day." She muttered, more to herself than the others. "And Ebonypaw and Russetpaw caught something on their second...." She bounded past them into the forest. Crookedpaw sighed deeply. "Ignore her, Crookedpaw." Hazelstripe murmured, her disapproving eyes watched the she-cat disappear. "You'll be a great warrior." She and Halfsun went over to the join the other warriors. Emberpaw shook his head. He snagged a piece of prey before settling down beside his friend. "Why would Willowleaf have kits with Flickersong and Mistypelt if he doesn't even like either of them?" Crookedpaw demanded. He took a rather angry bite out of the plump mouse. "Who knows why some cats do anything?" Emberpaw shrugged. "But I think we did pretty well. We covered the territory." "We covered the borders." He grumbled. "Not as good as the whole territory." They spent the rest of the day talking with the elders. Adderpelt and Snakefang were older than Fallenstar. None of the clan knew how much longer they would last, but they did appear to be in good health. And they always enjoyed company.
"Emberpaw." Crookedpaw nudged his friend. "Come on. We're going to be late for our second day." Emberpaw groaned and slowly woke up. He and Crookedpaw met their mentors outside. "I'm afraid we're going to split up the dynamic due." Hazelstripe informed them teasingly. Crookedpaw looked towards Halfsun who nodded. "We'll be headed towards the river and you'll be learning to fish." "You and I," Hazelstripe flicked Emberpaw's ear with her tail, "Will be headed to the shady hollow and you'll be tracking mice." "Bet I'll catch more prey than you." Crookedpaw nudged Emberpaw before following Halfsun out of camp. "You're on!" He called back. The shady hollow was a dark spot. Sunlight never got through and so there wasn't much grass. But it was a popular place for some of the more nocturnal animals to get out at night. Mice preferred moving in the dark and shade. "Alright. First things first. I know all kits get an introduction to the hunter's crouch one way or another," Hazelstripe turned to face him. "Show me what you've got." Emberpaw's whiskers twitched. Funnily enough, he and Crookedpaw learned theirs from Stormpaw. He'd been surprised to learn that medicine cats learned basic warrior things as well. He wondered why warriors didn't learn basic medicine cat things.. He lowered himself into his crouch and began moving forward a little. Hazelstripe's eyes glittered. "Hm...Not bad. Although you should work on distributing your weight more evenly. You're leaning on your front paws a bit. It'll help you to move better and keep an eye on your paws." Emberpaw kept working at it until she finally decided he was ready to try on things other than leaves. He padded into the woods a bit, his ears perked up. There were so many new smells. Hazelstripe had waved a mouse in front of his nose to ensure he knew its smell before they headed out. He managed to catch a bit of rustling in the bushes and froze. Once it continued he was sure it hadn't noticed him. He started forward carefully. Only after being sure of its location did he lunged and snag something with his claws. It seemed too fluffy to be a mouse. Still, he pulled it out and gave it a swift kill. Movement behind him moments after showed Hazelstripe had been following. He was impressed by his mentor's ability to move so quietly. He wondered if he ever would be able to do the same. He sat up and showed her his prize: a squirrel. She purred. "Well done." She prodded it with a paw. "And it's a nice plump one. Let's head back then." She relieved him of his heavy load and they started back for camp. The first thing that greeted him was a tackle from Crookedpaw. The tom being so loud with it, though, it hadn't been much of a surprise attack and he'd moved out of the way. "So, what'd you get?" Crookedpaw's eyes were wide. Emberpaw nodded to his catch that Hazelstripe was setting down on the fresh kill pile. "No way. You caught that..?" He glanced back towards what Emberpaw assumed was his own catch, a small silver fish. "At least you caught something." Emberpaw purred. "So it's a tie. And you managed to not fall in." Crookedpaw purred and the two settled down to eat. Chapter Four - Coming Soon~

Starborn - the first fanfic I clicked on and it's certainly promising. The idea is original and the chapters are a nice length. It's clear a lot of thought went into it and I can't wait to see where it goes. Chapter 1 is up, so y'all should check it out. :3 [the new layout is also Shadow's and the idea for profiles for the main characters came from Starborn as well ^-^]
If you have any suggestions, let me know~

Spring break? You lucky pup. All I've got is a midterm.
Yeah, don't do that. It really would make going back to school hard. Plus, time change. If you do the time change, that is.
