{ Bearpelt } morning, in camp Bearpelt wasn't the type of cat to wake up late and shirk his duties, as most of his clanmates seemed to be. He was generally awake before dawn, or just as the sun broke the sky, and helping his father arrange guard shifts - technically, he wasn't old enough to do so but being the son of the leader and head guard had its perks. This morning was no different than any other, except for the fact that his father was obviously sleeping in as he wasn't yet growling at cats to get moving. Whatever, just means I get to relax for once, he thought as a yawn escaped his jaws. Jumping down from the small ledge he had made his nest on, Bearpelt blinked the weariness from his yellow eyes and shook out his pelt before grabbing a vole from the fresh kill pile. Without making much more noise, the brown tom found a place to sit and eat his first meal. He wasn't all that hungry but it's not like a small vole would hurt him. Bearpelt tucked his paws under him and began to dig in, occasionally looking up to see if any other cats had awoken.

-Rabbitwhisker- morning, in camp Rabbitwhisker was definitely the type to wake up late and shirk her duties. The only reason she excelled at the things she did was because there was some form of unhealthy motivation along the way. Usually having to do with the idea that someone she didn't like was doing better than her. And if anyone was worse at dealing with insecurities than her, she didn't know them. But of course she didn't think of it like that. Soon enough, the nook she'd made into her own became too hot to be comfortable and she decided she should get up. Small petulant mewls began flooding from her mouth as soon as she flopped over onto the cold rock ground and began stretching. Eyes still blurry with sleep, she managed to get to her paws and prowl over to the kill pile, gait smooth and pompous, even though no one was grading her on her walk. And then she saw her brother. She chuffed gently in greeting, pleasant but distant. She snatched a mouse from the side of the pile.

{ Bearpelt } morning, in camp; w/ Rabbitwhisker (Ace) As Bearpelt was just finishing his vole, he looked up again and saw the familiar sight of his hunter sister finally waking up and making her way into the heart of camp. Bearpelt chuckled a bit to himself, realizing that she hadn't changed a bit since they had been apprentices. Old habits die hard, I guess. The larger tom waited for his sister to gracefully make her way to the fresh kill pile, reminding him so much of their mother, and pick out what she wanted before calling her over. "Rabbitwhisker, come sit with me before we, I, get going," he purred pleasantly. There were a few cats in the clan that Bearpelt could stand to be around and actually converse with and Rabbitwhisker just so happened to be one of them. The other two cats were his mother and father, Grousestar and Blackfoot. They were a fairy tight-knit family, even though Grousestar and Blackfoot had broken up, and the two siblings had always been close. Bearpelt had even considered becoming a hunter for a time, just to stay with his sister. Obviously he had been dissuaded from doing that, which had turned out to be a good thing.

- Rabbitwhisker & Bearpelt - morning, in camp Rabbitwhisker's ears flicked back and forth as soon as Bearpelt spoke. She'd been dreading hearing that voice. She intimidated every single person in this damn camp except for her mother and her brother. Her relationship with her father was a little. Strange. She never really forgave him for having more kits that weren't her full siblings. And it wasn't uncommon for fathers to become intimidated by daughters at a certain point so that's just what she assumed happened. But nonetheless, she turned in place, with a dramatic slowness, and strolled over to Bearpelt. "Are you trying to annoy me or is that just a side effect of you talking?" Her muffled voice was sharp but had an undeniable affection to it, a smile lighting up her eyes as he dropped into a sitting position beside her brother.

(Hello my friends!)
Brightblaze;; It was, Brightblaze noticed, a slow morning. The dark she-cat rose quickly, casting a weathered eye over the camp. Bearpelt was already awake and hunched by the fresh-kill pile, but that was no surprise. What did surprise her was the lithe shape of Rabbitwhisker, crouched beside her brother. She would have rather have avoided them - she butted heads with the siblings often, as all three of them had quick tempers - but her stomach was beginning to growl. She sighed and started towards the fresh-kill pile, keeping her ears and tail down, hoping they wouldn't notice her. She wasn't quite awake enough to deal with Rabbitwhisker's arrogance.
Darkpaw;; He'd been having bad dreams again. The awful dreams, where he was being chased by something but could never outrun it. Darkpaw sighed and folded his forepaws over his muzzle. He was sure that the sun had risen earlier than usual. Fighting sleep, the little apprentice forced himself to stretch each leg in turn. He sat up and gave his whiskers a quick grooming. His pelt, usually carefully groomed, was frazzled by sleep. He checked the camp and noted with relief that his mentor had not yet appeared. Neither had the head of hunters. That's lucky, I suppose. He spotted a small cluster of cats by the fresh-kill pile. All of them, he noticed, possessed sharp tongues. It would be far better to wait until they were left, he decided, before fetching his breakfast. He was awfully thirsty, however, and slunk from his nest in search of water. This early in the morning, the camp was cool. Darkpaw stepped carefully around the rest of the sleeping cats, desperate not to wake anyone.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, in camp DingoleapFrogpaw, with her head on her paws, stared out at the heart of the camp, eyes darting about the space as her tail swished along the ground behind her. She hadn't slept at all that night for reasons unbeknownst to her. She could already feel that familiar fatigue seeping into her bones. This wasn't the first night she couldn't sleep. Not even the tenth. She would just lay there, unable to fall asleep but unwilling to move at the same time. It was a very entrapping feeling. Motivation came in the form of other apprentices. As her peers around her began to stir, the sense of duty overcame the tired and she got to her paws. Her tongue darted out and wet her lips, her nose scrunching with discomfort. She needed some food. It was only then that she noticed a dark tail whip around the corner. Nightpaw? Her thoughts loudly interrupted. She bounded after the tail. "Oh. Good morning, Darkpaw." She greeted the older apprentice meekly, bowing her head in embarrassment. Why'd she have to be so stupidly enthusiastic about everything.

Darkpaw;; The voice startled him. Darkpaw whirled around, hoping he hadn't woken the speaker, an excuse ready on his tongue. He calmed, however, when he noticed it was Frogpaw. "G-good morning, Frogpaw." He ducked his head shyly. He'd always liked Frogpaw, even if her enthusiasm was sometimes overwhelming. She was, after all, one of the few apprentices who didn't balk at his shyness. "How are you today?" Darkpaw forced himself the think before he spoke, desperate not to fluster himself. For a heartbeat he wondered why the young she-cat was awake, but it seemed that she wasn't sleeping well either.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, in camp DingoleapFrogpaw stifled a giggle, watching his shoulders tense up and the look on his face when he whirled around. That made her feel better instantly. Her tail lashed about with a newfound energy as she walked past him, expecting him to follow her. She simply assumed her didn't have anything better to do; the innocent self-centeredness that comes with youth. "I'm super tired. Didn't sleep. At all. Like, not even a little bit. Haven't slept for almost a moon. Which means I got to listen to you roll around your nest all night. I've noticed you've become an increasingly violent sleeper since I showed up." She smirked at him.

Darkpaw;; βOh. You heard that?β Darkpaw flattened his ears, pelt hot with embarrassment. He hadnβt meant to disturb anyone. Almost automatically, he fell into step behind his younger Clanmate and hoped she was heading for water. At least she didnβt seem put out by him. βI havenβt been sleeping well either, I-I suppose...β He wondered if Frogpawβs dreams matched his. He wondered if she dreamed of something terrifying, something unknown the way he did. With his questionable luck, though, it was highly likely he was the only apprentice plagued by the reoccurring nightmare. He hoped his tired brain would find something else to dream about soon - not sleeping for a Moon hardly sounded fun.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, in camp DingoleapFrogpaw slowed down once they got to where the cave narrowed into the forest. She grimaced as the dew from the morning began to find its way into her coat. "Mm, Grasspelt is going to kill me if he wakes up and starts looking for me and doesn't find me," she mused to herself softly. It was only when she had officially pushed her way out into the forest that she turned her attention back onto Darkpaw. "I still don't know where anything is. Where's the best place to get a drink? I know where to go hunting and all."

Darkpaw;; It was a beautiful morning. Darkpaw took a deep breath, enjoying the coolness of the air. He had to admit that the sunrise was beautiful, even if it was very early. He smiled at Frogpawβs enthusiasm and becomes the she-cat over. βOver here. The dew from the morning often collects in these hollows - itβs a great place to get a morning drink, since you donβt have to go far from camp.β He led her over to a small cluster of stones, where water collected in the natural depressions between the boulders. The dark-furred apprentice crouched by the largest and began to drink. The water was cool and clear, and quite possibly the best thing heβd ever tasted. He swiped his tongue around his jaws, licking drops of moisture from his whiskers. D-does your mentor have anything planned for you today, Frogpaw?

{ Bearpelt & Rabbitwhisker } morning, in camp - Ace Bearpelt let out a soft purr as his smaller sister begrudgingly sat next to him. Now that they were warriors of different ranks, they didn't often have too much time to spend together so when they were able to share a meal they generally took the opportunity before anything else could interfere. Sighing with content, the brown tom rolled onto his side and began to lazily clean himself. "You know I love to annoy you whenever possible, Rabbitwhisker. It's just so . . . entertaining. You know I'm trying to get a reaction out of you yet you can't stop yourself from acting like a crotchety elder," he said with a small snicker. If cats couldn't tell that they were brother and sister by their looks alone, they could definitely tell by how they acted. "Planning on going hunting today, or just not doing anything and getting away with it because Grousestar is our mother?" Bearpelt usually didn't do the latter - he felt like he was taking advantage of his parents' rankings and the clan, and it just felt wrong. Some days, when he really needed a break, he did. Today was possibly turning out to be one of them.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, just outside camp Dingoleap"Oh!" Frogpaw chirped and bounced along behind Darkpaw, ears twitching. "It's so pretty. I still can't believe that things like this exist. Water is so amazing and gorgeous." She only shut up when she leaned down to drink. Eyes closed and an almost involuntary purr escaped her as she lapped up the clear water. And then Darkpaw effectively ruined everything good about the moment. "Ughh. Grasspelt is so strict with me. I know it's because he's very knowledgeable and it's very important that I know these things but sometimes I wish... I don't know. Cedarpaw is training to be a scout and it just. It looks so easy," she huffed petulantly. She'd begged to learn the way of the medicine cat and really was in no place to complain.

- Rabbitwhisker & Bearpelt & Brightblaze - morning, in camp β πππ πππππ-πππππ DingoleapRabbitwhisker wrinkled her nose at him and took a rather ungraceful bite out of her mouse. She loved him. She truly did. But honestly, no one made her feel so petulant and small. Not even their mother. "And if you weren't so dead set on getting a reaction--" she stretched out the word mockingly, "--you could find yourself a mate, settle down, have some kits, and find something else to focus on other than me." She continued to eat her mouse, waiting a solid minute before speaking again. "I'll go hunting if it means getting away from you." Her eyes rose and landed upon Brightblaze. The loose-tongued trio was all here. Now if she just wandered over, they'd all end up in a violent tussle, one way or another.

{ Bearpelt & Rabbitwhisker & Brightblaze } morning, in camp - Ace, Dingoleap Bearpelt snorted in amusement. As if he actually wanted a mate. "You know very well I'd rather be on my own without anyone weighing me down," he grumbled as he followed his sister's yellow-eyed gaze. "But maybe you have your eyes set on someone, hm?" Bearpelt, Rabbitwhisker, and Brightblaze had never gotten along well - even as apprentices - so he was, of course, just teasing Rabbitwhisker. The first time the trio had fought was the first moon of Brightblaze's apprenticeship, when she thought it would be a smart idea to make fun of the fact that Blackfoot had become mates with a much younger she-cat than their mother. Bearpelt and Rabbitwhisker fought with the younger she-cat not only because she had insulted their mother, but also because she had insulted their leader. Instilled in all ValleyClan cats was a respect for the higher ranking members of the clan and obviously Brightblaze hadn't learned that yet. So, of course, the brown and red siblings found it appropriate for them to teach the black she-cat a lesson in respect. Letting out a faint growl at the memory, Bearpelt fixated his unrelenting on the smaller cat. He respected her as a guard, for she did her duties well, but not as a cat. She still had much to learn in the way of respect.

Darkpaw;; βOh, yes. Water is, um, very nice.β Frogpawβs enthusiasm for even the simplest of things was a little overwhelming. Darkpaw couldnβt fathom ever being so confident. βI-itβs too bad that your mentor is so strict,β he offered, βbut I bet you learn a lot.β Being a medicine cat apprentice must have been very interesting. He imagined Frogpaw learned all kinds of things that most cats could only dream of. While such knowledge would be endlessly fascinating, Darkpaw was extremely happy in his own apprenticeship. He wasnβt quite prepared to give up the freedom and exhilaration of hunting, even if he wasnβt always very good at it.
Brightblaze;; She felt eyes on her long before she looked up. Brightblaze dragged her gaze away from her meal and met Rabbitwhiskerβs stare. βGood morning, Rabbitwhisker.β She made herself say. It was far better to hold her tongue and remain courteous, at least until the other she-cat lost interest. I hope she doesnβt come over here... It was too early for sharp words. She didnβt want to make a scene and wake the entire camp, but trouble has a way of tearing its ugly head whenever she and Rabbitwhisker were in close proximity. She knew Bearpelt wouldnβt be much help, as he would probably side with his littermate. She was, simply put, outnumbered.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, just outside camp DingoleapShame burned at her face, suddenly very self-conscious of Darkpaw's subdued agreement. She tilted her head to the side and leaned back on her haunches, shoulders raised and gaze averted. "It's difficult to remember everything and the repetition gets really boring but at least now, the stuff I learned at the beginning is second nature." Her voice began to regain some of its brightness. Embarrassment to her was like water to a duck's back. - Rabbitwhisker & Bearpelt & Brightblaze - morning, in camp β πππ πππππ-πππππ"Good morning," Rabbitwhisker greeted curtly, eyes hard and knowing. She, unlike her brother, wasn't hung up on the things that happened in their apprenticeship. The only thing she was concerned about now was how Brightblaze sized up against herself. Was she as good a hunter as Brightblaze was a guard? She glanced over to her brother when he made that snide comment. Rabbitwhisker? Attracted to Brightblaze? Hilarious. She beamed at him and his discomfort. His resentment. "Why don't you come eat with us? Tell us about what you're going to do to be a model clan member this fine day?" She called out to Brightblaze, making her intentions public enough that awkwardly refusing would be... Well. Embarrassing.

Darkpaw;; Noticing the she-cat's sudden embarrassment, Darkpaw laid his tail across his shoulder in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. He was terrible at social interactions, but he'd been on the receiving end of comforting gestures more times than he could count. His natural shyness warred with the desire to make his companion feel better. "You must be awfully clever to remember everything," he said gently. "I could never manage. Hunting must seem very boring in comparison."
Brightblaze;; The dark she-cat scowled at Rabbitwhisker's invitation. That was far worse than the other she-cat coming over. If I refuse now, I'll seem petty and judgemental... She really didn't want to join the siblings, given the bad blood that sat between them, and desperately wished that she had some duty, however mundane, to attend to. She nodded stiffly and picked up her meal. "That would be nice." Her voice sounded forced. Robotic. She picked her way across to the siblings, every movement radiating displeasure. She was determined to ignore Bearpelt. The tom had made his dislike plain. "As for my duties," she meowed, settling down as far away from Rabbitwhisker as she could. "Perhaps I'll be able to demonstrate 'being a model clan member' when your father finally wakes and distributes the daily tasks."

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, in camp DingoleapFrogpaw started lightly at the gesture but almost immediately relaxed into it, eyes closing and a low purr rumbling through her chest, giving away the sheer amount of acceptance and trust this cat contained. "I haven't nearly remembered everything. That's Grasspelt. Maybe you should walk up to him and compliment him like that. I'm sure he'd appreciate that." She chuffed in amusement at the thought, still leaning into the comforting gesture. "I have absolutely no idea how to hunt," she opened her eyes and looked to him. "Are you good at it?"

Darkpaw;; The gesture was both sudden and unexpected. Darkpaw could feel himself blushing as the smaller apprentice leaned into him. He sat, tense, for a long moment before slowly relaxing. He could hear her purring, he realised. "I'm sure you've got a better memory than me," he meowed honestly. "As for hunting, well, um, I'm ok, I guess. I catch things, b-but I make mistakes. All the time. Far too many of them. H-how can I expect to feed my clan if I make mistakes?" He was rambling now, anger at his mistakes loosening his tongue. Only the day before he had mistimed his pounce, missing an easy catch. Some hunter he'd make. Some days it felt like he couldn't catch a mouse if it sat on his paws.

- Frogpaw & Darkpaw - morning, just outside camp Dingoleap"I do have a really good memory," Frogpaw lowered her voice like it was a confession. She finally eased away from him, only to stretch. She raised her haunches high as her paws massaged the ground. "Think you could teach me how to crouch? { Bearpelt & Rabbitwhisker & Brightblaze } morning, in camp - Ace, Dingoleap Bearpelt inwardly groaned as his sister invited the compact black she-cat to share tongues with them, as he knew she was only doing it to ruffle his feathers. However, he did quite enjoy seeing Brightblaze become ripe with awkwardness and spite as she sat down with the siblings. Purring, Bearpelt tilted his head and blinked his large, unnerving yellow eyes at her. "As far as I can recall, my father always preaches about how easy it is to be a guard when the camp is in peace - which we are, correct? Unless we started a war since I went to sleep?" Sitting up straighter, the brown tom looked nearly as regal as his mother and just as powerful as his imposing father. "He always talks about - well, maybe this was just for me and he neglected to properly train you in your apprenticeship - that we can set our own shifts, take up our own guard posts if he isn't present. "But of course, I can go to Grousestar to make sure he's correct if you'd like." A thinly veiled threat, but a threat nonetheless.

NOTICE ON GRASSPELT, AGES, AND LEADER'S COUNCIL Grasspelt, the head medicine cat, is now open to be played by anyone at anytime. This is to ensure that we will always have a medicine cat present. His personality traits have been added to his description, so please play him true to his character if and when you do role-play him. Ages have been changed for some characters so as to make the clan more diverse, as we had many young warriors and not enough senior warriors. Please make sure you are aware of your cat's age. Some cats have been added to the Leader's Council - these are the cats that advise Grousestar on her decisions and help run the clan if she is sick and unable to. If your cat has been added to the Leader's Council, it will say so in their description. Here are all the cats that have been added: Grasspelt, Duskwing, Lizardnose, Cloudpath, Crowfoot, Blackfoot, Stonesky, Burrpelt, Palefur, Mousestep, Rosefall, and Adderbite.

nightpaw, pinepaw Nightpaw and Pinepaw had surprisingly become friends during the few moons that they had shared their apprenticeship. Featherheart, Nightpaw's mother, had been a bit more than shocked at the turn of events as the apprentices seemed to have nothing in common. However, Nightpaw knew his mother wouldn't do anything to stop the friendship from blossoming as he didn't have many friends. So, unafraid of being torn away from his newly-found friend, Nightpaw leaped down to the heart of camp with Pinepaw at his side, the tiny blue she-cat matching him stride for stride. "Let's go find Frogpaw and Darkpaw, see if we can bother them a bit more than normal," Pinepaw snickered before letting her jaw hang open to smell the air. The apprenticed scout quickly found the young she-cat and older tom and, after prodding Nightpaw to get moving, the pair made their way over, dipping their heads in greeting. "Good morning, Frogpaw, Darkpaw."
