Thank you! I really like your art as well, you've definitely improved tons since I first saw you on the forums. It's too bad Sere doesn't really post much anymore though, I loved her art too.

of course!! and tysm dude like <333 oh damn, me too. i miss her a lot ): she posts on dA once in a few years but i miss idk just how it used to be!!! wow
It angers me how people say $25 is too much for beautiful portraits like these. The average working person can likely make that amount in 1-2 hours, meanwhile your art takes much longer than that.
I might look into commissioning a portrait of my dog from you ^^

Eight: Yeah, it's kind of insulting. I know there are many people who can draw better than I can, but that doesn't mean my art isn't worth anything. I think it also has to do with the fact that many artists that draw just as well as I do offer free portraits. So some people just aren't willing to pay when they can get something else for free. And others just don't really get the concept of digital art, and think it's "cheating."
Silverowl: No, I don't, but I could explain it to you. I sketch the animal like I would for a realistic portrait, then on a layer underneath I use the selection tool to color instead of painting. So if the pet is dark brown, I'll select around my sketch and put down a solid layer of brown. The method doesn't require any pressure sensitivity because I use a solid color for each selection. Then just as you would paint on lighter, darker, or just different colors, I select more areas and put down more colors. I don't do flat colors first, I always shade as I color with any style I do. The method would also work well for cartoons or any simpler coloring style. I originally came up with the style because someone wanted me to do a logo design and I wanted something way simpler than my detailed portraits.

Well long story short. You're a content creator, whether or not you want to make money from this gift is entirely at your digression. I think it is reasonable for you to charge money for your art given the man hours that go into each piece. (I'm actually looking into selling prints of my photography because tuition is expensive and I don't want a real job yet X.x)

Everytime I look at your art, my soul just aches because it is so gorgeous and mind-blowing... <3 I was reading through the comments and can't believe that some people tell you $25 is too much... that is seriously way too less. You have some amazing skills, and I just adore your work!!

Seconded! In-progress stuff would be really cool to see!
Your art looks very professional! I also agree that you could charge more per commission. If you don't feel comfortable with that yet, then, like, I totally understand (I mean I'm over here giving stuff away for free), but I hope it gets better and you're able to charge what you deserve to get for these.
I really love your selection art pieces. How long do those usually take for you? They've got a really neat style to them - do you do them from scratch or use photos as a base?

sarasaurus Thank you so much! I really don't take many screenshots of my progress, but here's one example:
And also an example of before and after I add fur/details (I also usually use the liquify tool to make things more even). They really make a huge difference.
otherfeather Thank you. (: I would love to charge more, but people already tell me $20-$25 is way too much, and I barely get any commissions. They just don't get that if I were charging $10 per hour (minimum wage), I'd be making at least $100 per portrait. Sadly a lot of people do not think art should cost money. Plus, my mom keeps all of the money I make so it's pointless for me either way lol.
The selection tool ones only take me around 2 hours, and most of that is sketching. The coloring is really easy. And nope, all of my art is from scratch, I never trace or draw over a photo.
