ValkoinenLeuka No one's really happy - supernatural, urban In any other story, they would be rivals. These two are powerful supernatural beings, both evenly matched and skilled. These types don't get along in the first place. Thankfully, in their large city, they almost never meet. They can sense each other, but they never truly face each other. Well, not until one night. A trap was set out for one. The energy was sucked out of them or they were hurt. Either way, they had become prime targets for the other supernaturals. The only being suited to protecting them was someone of their own caliber. They couldn't trust anyone with less power. So, they show up at the other supernatural's door. For some reason, the other accepts the hurt one. They enter an uneasy truce. So, do you want to do quick blurbs of the characters?

Mika Cyans - Selkie, standing about 5'8" with dark freckled skin and black hair reaching at about shoulder length. Glasses and blue eyes, usually wears clothes that would work for the beach and sandals or flip-flops. Fairly reclusive and reluctant to talk to others unless necessary.

A bit of a late reply here. Assan Calcon - skinwalker, about 5'7" with almond colored skin, dark brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes. Usually keeps his hair short and his face clean shaven; however, if stressed, these things can get out of hand. He usually wears a tee-shirt, jacket, and jeans.
Just a note; I kinda want the world to be in a state were the humans don't really know there are supernatural and the supernaturals love to keep it that way. Like, if there was anyone threatening the secret, most would try to stop the supernatural by any means. Might cause drama in the future.
Also, can you start?

Sounds good to me. Just one question before I start. Are we launching with Mika seeking out Assan for help?

Yeah. Sounds easier. Just a heads up, I think he should live in an apartment and he isn't going to be there when your character shows up. Sounds easier.

(Sorry I took so long. Work didn't go great today)
Mika had only narrowly been able get this far. His magic was nearly gone, depleted and stolen by the trap, but he'd at least escaped with his pelt intact and alive. Even if it was obvious in his movements, his posture, even his scent that he'd been badly weakened. Already he'd had to avoid three other creatures that had been after his territory for some time now, and he definitely did not want to cross their paths while he was like this. He wasn't sure if they'd been the ones to set the trap, but either way, he couldn't risk being found like this.
There weren't many other creatures too near. Or at least that he'd run into. But there was a scent he caught occasionally near the edges of his own territory, something powerful lurked not too far off. Or at least within the same city limits. He wasn't quite sure what the other creature was, he'd never encountered anything like this before but he could sense their power. They were the biggest chance he had at any sort of protection while he was recovering.
He'd gotten as far as the apartment building, though the scent was mixed in really heavily with human and animal scents. He couldn't tell which room in the building the creature actually lived in. He'd been able to narrow it down to a single floor, but he couldn't pinpoint any further. He'd exhausted himself and he'd ended up sitting down in the apartment hall. Whenever the creature got home, he could identify them. Or they'd identify him. Either way, that would be his chance to ask for help.

That sucks. Is everything okay? )
Assan hummed along to a silent song as he walked up the steps to his apartment. A small smile was sitting on his face. He had the day off and spent most of it wandering around the city. This time he had chosen his bird form. It was one of the most pleasant views of his city. Never again would he chose to be a rat. Too many things happen in those alleys. Too many things he would never be able to forget. Just as he was trying to push away those memories, he realized he was not as safe as he thought.
Supernaturals were normally too territorial or too weak to care for themselves. They were a pain to live around. So, he made sure he lived in human filled buildings only. Something in the hall way was not a human. It was weak, but not human. It couldn't harm him, whatever it was, but Assan really didn't feel like causing a ruckus. He had worked hard to make sure none of the humans realized what he was. He didn't want to ruin that. Assan's smile dropped off his face to be replaced with a small frown. He took a deep breath then moved into the hall.
Assan froze when he got a look at the creature residing in his hall. This one had a similar scent of the supernatural residing near the beach, but was much weaker. A lesser being perhaps? Assan eyed the creatures as he approached him. This seemed like an odd message or signal to send, especially when he went out of his way to avoid the beach. Assan hoped this was unrelated and could be ignored. As long as the selkie didn't speak, neither was he. He moved to his door and started digging around his pockets for the keys.

Mika stood a little straighter when the source of the scent drew close and he looked to the elevator doors to see what would have looked human enter the hall. Only by his sense of smell could he tell the stranger was a creature. He took a small step forward, trying to to move closer to the stranger. He knew he had to ask for help, but he stopped in the middle of his next step. The stranger was actively looking away from him now, it seemed. Going over to his room door and getting his keys to go home... he clearly didn't want anything to do with this. He'd be turned away. He knew it.
But without help, he was too easy of a target for other creatures to pass up. He wouldn't last to the end of the weekend. He had to ask. He couldn't lose the only chance he might have at protection. The stranger looked like he already might have his key. If he went into that apartment, this was over. "Wait!" He said before he could stop himself. He hesitated another second before he continued moving forward until he was next to the stranger. "Please, I need help. Would you... please, just hear what I have to say?"

Assan's back prickled when he had to turn it towards the creature. Even if he knew the other male was little threat to his life, there was still a sense of danger. Getting hurt was never a pleasant experience and Assan tried his best to avoid it. The male only wanted to be left alone. As he slid the key into the lock, the other creature yelled.
He tensed and quickly looked around. Thankfully, it seemed like his neighbors were either not home or ignoring the noise. However, if there was more yelling, someone would look out. Resisting curiosity was never humans' strong suit. He turned his body to face the creature. Again, he assessed the power of the person in front of him. Again, he came to the conclusion that the creature was weaker than him. He decided it should be safe to invite the person in.
"Come in." He said, as he opened the door. It was maybe a risky move he shouldn't have taken, but Assan didn't like to think of such things. If someone spent all their time thinking about what could happen, they would never be in the present. Plus, his arms were tired from carrying bags. He was worried about both his state of mind and the growing ache in his arms. He left the door open for the creature as he moved into his tiny kitchen. "Close the door and lock it." He told his guest.

Mika hesitated again and began walking after the stranger. He closed the apartment door behind him and locked it as the stranger had requested. Once he was inside the apartment, he stayed by the door, not wanting to act too familiar in someone else's home. He couldn't afford poor manners to ruin his chance at getting the protection he needed. He waited quietly as the stranger set his bags down before he slowly started talking.
"There was a trap. I don't know exactly what it did, but whatever it was supposed to do must have been a success. I can't use any of my spells. It hurts to try to change shape. I don't even know how much longer I can keep walking. But ever since it happened, other creatures have come out of the woodwork and I've been running into challengers all day. I can't keep avoiding them. They'll..." He paused, realizing other creatures would probably follow his trail here sooner or later. Whether or not the stranger would help, he'd have caused him trouble either way. "I need someone to fall back on. I don't have money or anything like that to repay you, and I know it might draw unwanted attention to you, but..."
He stopped again. He couldn't think of much reason to give the stranger that could convince him. This was just going to be a lot trouble for someone he'd never met.

Assan put away stuff as he listened to the other man's plead. He wasn't getting far. The male had to pause to make sure he had heard the other creature's situation correctly. Then, he realized how foolish he had been.
In a couple of days, if it took them that long, whoever was hunting this man was going to follow the trail to this apartment. If they had enough power or resources to suck away this male's power, then they might have enough to take away Assan's. His first urge was to tell Mika to get out. He could always try to cover up the scent before they arrived. Something told him it didn't matter. They would find him and, if he was lucky, they would just go through his house to see if they could find Mika hiding. If he wasn't, well, why think about that? Death was very depressing.
"What are you?" he asked. The question had been nagging at him from the moment he met the man. What made this one so special to get such a high level trap set on him. he mentioned transforming, so he could be a skinwalker. Assasn doubted this. He would have recognized his own kind. That left a couple dozen other possibilities. None of which he thought warranted such attention.

Mika started to hesitate, nervous to say. But it was a fair question. Would it really matter if he knew, anyways, whether or not he helped him? "A selkie. Seal-folk... some consider us faerie, but that's just because of the magic we use." He took his pelt out from under his jacket where he'd hidden it to try to suppress it's sea-water scent. "Without it, I'd be stuck looking human, and I wouldn't be able to go back to the water. So... since I can't change now because of whatever they did... I'm sort of stranded." He admitted quietly.
It was a frustrating thought. He couldn't get home. There weren't other selkies in the area, but there were a few harbor seals that he liked to swim with, and they wouldn't accept him in this form. He was too shy about humans to make connections to anyone in the city, so he had no one to fall back on in a situation like this. "I... I'm sorry. I know this is really a lot to ask of a complete stranger."

A little ah escaped Assan when Mika spoke about himself. It explained why the man smelled and dressed like beachgoers. Not many people would walked around in sandals and live almost permanently on the beach. Maybe. Assan mused, he should have guessed Mika's nature before.
"Not the worst request I have been given. A sphinx once came to me and practically threatened me until I helped her solve a puzzle." He joked with a small smile, "It took ten days to finish." He felt much more relaxed now that he understood why the man was here and what he was. Honestly, he didn't understand why the selkie were considered threats. They were people who could turn into seals. Seals were chubby little creatures. Taking away a simple skin renders them useless. They didn't seem all that scary.
"Well, it would be a bit trouble since you can't pay for rent or food, but I guess you can stay here for a couple of days." Assasn said with a shrug thrown in as a way to act causal. He knew if he threw Mika out now, the man would get into trouble. Maybe the deadly type. Those running after the selkie would probably also try to talk with him. If he was going to have to deal with the trap setters, then he might as well have an extra person to help.

Mika lowered his head a bit when the stranger admitted he would still be in the way, but he looked up as he kept speaking. He could stay? Even if this led to trouble? He hadn't expected the stranger to agree to shelter him so easily. After all, they were just that, strangers. "I... thank you. When I can have my power back, I'll make it up to you." He promised quietly, dipping his head in thanks.
He wasn't sure how exactly he'd repay him for this just yet. When he could at least change shape again, perhaps something in the water could suffice? Maybe there were lost items off the coast he could try to dive for. Something down there had to be valuable that he could find and give to... to... He hadn't asked the stranger's name. And he'd already asked such a big favor. "I'm sorry, I don't think I remembered to introduce myself. My name is Mika. And yours?"

Assan tried not to raise an eyebrow at what Mika said about repaying him. He didn't know how. The selkie didn't have a way to earn money by the sound of it. Not like he could really need one. The creature probably ate and slept around the sea. He supposed Mika might repay him in fish. The real thing that worried him was the fact that he was pretty happy with that payment. Normally, he would be asking for more.
He blinked when the crea-Mika introduced himself. Well, it was a bit embarrassing he didn't think of this before he let the guy hide in his house. Assan knew soon he would have to admit he was a bit of a hermit or just oblivious to social conventions. "Assan, the skinwalker, at your service." He voice curled to sound more like a dramatic knight.
"So, are you a fan of witches? I know one who could brew you up something." He suggested, voice now calmer and serious. One owned him a favor, so he figured this would be a nice time to cash it in. After all, he needed the selkie with his magic back sooner rather than later if the trap-setters were looking for him.

"Assan." Mika repeated to make sure he had it right. He listened as the other spoke before giving a small shrug. "I don't think I've ever actually spoken to one. I've only heard stories, and even then, they're pretty old stories so they're not really nice stories. But if you think you know something that'll help, I'll trust your judgement and go along." He replied, offering a small smile. As tired as he was, it was somehow easier to believe things would get better now that he had some support. He started to step back toward the door when his head turned dizzy and he lost his balance for a second. He hesitated, resting his weight against the wall before looking back at Assan. "Can... can we take a small rest first? You just got home and I just found a place to sit down?"

Assan silently nodded with a small frown. He didn't like the idea, but held his tongue seeing Mika was in no condition to walk around. Even if he wanted to fix this and felt nervous about staying in one place, he knew the drained creature must be tired. It would not be fun if Mika passed out while walking. At least he agreed to see the witch.
"Well, do you need food or water?" He offered, hoping some liquid and food would energize the other creature. Upon reflection, he realized he had no clue if he had the food to feed the selkie. Did they only eat seafood? Assan didn't pick anything like that up. The closest thing he had was Goldfish, but he didn't think that really counted for much. Maybe they only drank salt water. That was at least manageable. Adding salt to water was pretty easy. Hopefully, otherwise he had nothing for Mika.

"Water would be good." Mika nodded, an appreciative smile forming on his face. He hadn't expected to be offered a drink, and now that he actually had a chance to slow down and get his thoughts in order, a drink might really help. He took a few steps away from where he'd rooted himself near the door and he began to slowly walk farther into the apartment. He looked at the furniture quietly, not sure what to make of it. It looked too clean to sit on, considering he probably had at least a pound of sand on his clothes alone. He didn't want to be impolite and make a mess, and as much as he wanted to find a seat somewhere he could take a short nap he just wasn't sure where he was welcome.

Assan thought his home was pretty good for what it was. Sure, his dinning room happened to be in his living room. Aka, the only place to sit and eat was his small, beat sofa. His bedroom and kitchen were also a bit small. But he had a bed and a roof over his head. It was nice. And as much as Assan didn't want Mika and his sand on the sofa, he knew the man needed to sit somewhere. Maybe sleep somewhere as well.
"I hope you don't mind, but you'll have to sleep on the sofa." He said as a placed a glass of water on the side table of the sofa. He figured this way the man would be forced to come closer for the water and would feel welcome to sit on the sofa since he would be sleeping on it. Either way, it would get the other creature more relaxed. Never would Assan welcome the tension crossing the room.
Assan sat down on the sofa. "So, do you remember anything about the trap?" He asked.

Mika gave a small nod, but at Assan's statement and to his question. He moved over to the sofa carefully, still hesitating to sit down. "You don't want me to sit on a sheet or something?" He checked. "I don't want to make a mess." He picked up the water and took a small sip before speaking again. "I remember four people, all men I think. Not their appearances, but they could pass for human, too. The trap was arcane, or at least, I think it had to be something like that. Runes, glowing marks, I could smell ozone. I don't think it was from our realm. I mean... if that makes sense. Pact magic, contracts, something Astral?" He took another drink from the glass, taking a little bit longer this time. "I don't actually remember it going off, but I remember being unable to move for a while. I don't know if I was afraid or if something was holding me..."
