[ yeehaw ball rollin >:3 ]
Nanu Amari rebellin' She'd been told, multiple times, to follow the school rules. Would she? Well, to be fair, she didn't even follow the law. Nanu checked her wallet idly and frowned thoughtfully - she could afford lunch but she wanted to leave the campus so...screw it. While she wasn't entirely sure if she could get away with it, she didn't really care. Her stomach told her to get food, and so that was what she was going to do.
It didn't take her long to find a place - the Round Table Cafe. She was mildly amused at the name of the place but didn't think too deeply into it, pushing the door open and dodging past a woman with a buggy. Nanu counted out money in her hand before she ordered her food, and she thought about her morning. Being given money to join a 'gang' had been something, and though she supposed she'd have to meet them, she'd obviously decided that food was more important. Because, y'know. It was. A growing girl like Nanu required sustenance and school cafeteria food would kill her rather than help her, so obviously ordering an iced frappe and a panini - only the best food for her.
Considering it was lunch, the cafe was a little full - and though there were a few tables spare, she found her gaze flicking to someone familiar. With a small smile, she wandered over and sat in the chair without so much as asking, leaning back as she set her food on the table. Her grin was wolfish.
"Ahlan!" she greeted cheerfully, as if they were friends. Honestly, she barely remembered the girl's name - Estella, perhaps. Something to go with a pretty face. "How is rebel life treating you?"
She absently sipped some of her coffee and crossed one leg over the other, phone in one hand as she scrolled through social media idly. She realised that she hadn't gotten Nathan's number but did that matter? No. She was like...a mercenary. For-hire. They'd have to call upon her by saying her name three times into a mirror, that could work.
Nanu wasn't impolite, but she wasn't interested in awkward introductions. Sitting on a table with someone she recognised from school was easier than sitting at a table and potentially having a creepy dude sit across or next to her. This was the much, much better alternative.

Jaime Myles Washington// lunch/riley starter
Lunch. Perhaps the only break Jaime would get for the entire rest of the day, and he was late. Or at least, later than most people. It was way too common for students to hang out in the halls for ages before meandering down towards the cafeteria or wherever. But he had always been the type of kid to rush to his table, excited to catch up with everyone.
Of course, it had just been his luck to have math right before it. His teacher- Ms. Lindhern or something, had felt it necessary to give him the speech he’d become way too comfortable with. The “now just because you’re a good player doesn’t mean I’m going to go easy on you” and the oh so annoying “you have to work just as hard at this class as you do on the field”.
God, sometimes he really hated being in a level classes. In fact, the only benefit he could think beside that boring “better education” crap was the girls. There was something alluring about being surrounded by chicks who thought he was just another dumb jock. It made him look better. Plus, there was just something so hot about a girl would could do calc.
He had been his usual self- handsome and clever and already eyeing up some of the finer catches of the class. But then his teacher had to go and ruin the mood. He could tell just by looking at her sour face that she’d already made up her mind about him- and it wasn’t nearly as welcoming as the girls’ who sat across from him. He pursed his lips as he jogged down the hallways, his shoes clicking nervously on the polished floor.
The lunchroom gave him as warm a gesture as it could as two seniors pushed past him- probably trying to sneak out to their cars before the period ended. Whatever their reasons, it allowed him to slip relatively unnoticed past the ‘royalty’ table. The last thing he needed was a bunch of airheads mooning over him on the first day.
He was almost at the Knights’ table when he spotted a familiar golden tangle of hair. “Capps?” he asked, hesitant at first. “Riley Capps?” He knew the girl as a fellow Knight, but was also pretty sure he had dated one of her friends back in freshman year. “You’re finally a big bad senior! How does it feel having all that power?” He kept his tone light, a shining smile stretched across his face.
(Sorry for it being so short. I kept getting distracted by studying for finals and that crap.)

Estella M.L. The Round Table Cafe/response to Nanu
Estella hadn't minded the thought of eating alone today. She was so used to nobody's trying to kiss her butt until she put in a good word for them and then, suddenly, they were sitting at the Royal Table in the Cafeteria at the school. It was annoying and as of late, she's been shutting everyone down. Anyone who even tried talking to her got shoed away. That is, unless, they were beautiful rebel's, dangerous and forbidden among the popular of the popular (A princess mixing with an exiled? scandalous.)
When Nanu strolled up to her table, cheerfully greeting her like they had been friends for ages, there was merely a moment where Estella considered turning her away. This girl, however, just had an air about her that made Estella not want her to go off to another table all on her own. How is rebel life treating you? Was that a foreign accent? If Estella was anyone else, she would've melted right there (maybe there was a little melting).
It was no secret that Estella was into women. Well, not just women. She was one of the most openly bisexual girls at her school. While in middle school it had been a topic of ridicule, now, if someone attempted to pick on her, it would be dangerous territory they were stepping into - their life would be ruined in a matter of hours. So, it was very open that she had a taste for both sexes. Her type - although not limited by gender - was simple. You either had to be the purest person on earth (Honey Lockwood) or a Dangerous Woman (Nanu Amari).
"Rebel life is treating me well." She smiled, her eyes trailing her up and down, a million thoughts running through her mind. Where was this girl from? Were the rumors surrounding her father true? What grade was this girl in? Out of all the rumors, no one mentioned her grade. She hoped she wasn't a freshman with an overhyped reputation. That would be disappointing.
Somehow, Estella managed to answer the question after the girl sat down. She didn't realize how long she had been at a loss for words. This was a first for Estella, perhaps it was unnoticeable to Nanu, but to Estella, it was an embarrassment. Of course, she quickly got over it. She leaned over the table toward Nanu, pushing a piece of hair out of her face slowly and smiling at the girl whose face was illuminated by her cell phone. That in and of itself irritated Estella, few merely sat across from her with nothing more than a greeting. She pushed her irritation aside, however, and admired the girl in front of her, "Sorry to interrupt whatever is so import on your phone," dial back the sarcasm, Estella, "But are you Nanu Amari? I've heard so much about you!"

lazy penguinRiley had had a rough morning. Besides the twins waking her up early, it seemed as if the school had it out for her by putting her hardest classes in the morning. Most of them were AP classes, though she also had a business class. Why? She wasn't quite sure. The girl wasn't interested in business. She was into science and had her life planned out already. It did not include business. But the class had been one that Elijah said she needed to take, and Riley knew her oldest brother generally gave good advice. She was starting to regret that as she listened to the teacher (who had to be well into his seventies and losing his hearing) drone on and on about prices and why certain items are priced the way they are. That had nothing to do with the first unit of class, which is all about the foundations of business. But, whatever. Riley wasn't going to bother with that. If anything, she knew the class would be an easy A (this teacher didn't care about anything, she'd been told) and that would look good for her GPA, though it was already pretty high. The best part of class was ten minutes before the bell rang. Some kid's phone went off in class and the teacher had hesitated before saying the school must be on a different schedule today and let them go early. Everyone was confused until they realized the old man had mistaken the kid's phone for the school bell. Though he was only a freshman, he'd gotten compliments from the seniors (including Riley) and orders to have his phone go off at the same time the next day. They'd just convince the teacher that the school was on some new schedule and they'd get out of class early everyday. The plan had been formulated by Riley and a few other seniors after class before they all split into their separate directions. Riley had made her way to her locker, of course, figuring she'd drop off her books and backpack. The girl locked her locker and stretched her already aching back. Wow, this would be fun. Especially when she knew she had to go to morning lifting the next day. Her coach had set up a schedule for the girls this year and tomorrow they had the fitness center to themselves. That was one of the few things she disliked about softball, but she figured she should thank Coach Wilson for keeping them in shape even when the season wasn't going on. She decided she didn't have enough time to head to the library and get a head start on homework, and it was still too early to get lunch, so Riley made her way down to the gym. She grabbed a basketball that had been laying out from the last class and played a little basketball for a few minutes. She kept her eye on the clock on the wall and once about five minutes had passed, she put the ball back where it came from. She could already hear voices in the hallway and joined the stream of students as they made their way to the cafeteria. Riley normally had Elijah pack her a lunch in the morning, but she'd been too annoyed by her youngest brothers to ask him for a lunch and he only did what he was asked. That meant Riley was stuck on her own for lunch. She went threw the line and kept it simple. A bottle of lemonade. An apple. And a peanut butter and grape jelly Uncrustable. It was a decent lunch and it was something that the school couldn't mess up. She grabbed her tray and went to find the table the jocks normally sat at when she heard a voice calling her name. She turned around, blue eyes searching the crowd, until she caught sight of a familiar face. "Jaime!" she said, her face splitting into a grin. She tended to get along with most of the other Knights and he was no exception. She pushed through the crowd until she was standing beside him, awkwardly holding her tray to the side to avoid the incoming stream of hungry teenagers. She'd learned freshman year that you do not want to get in between high schoolers and food during lunch. Some got pretty vicious, even if all of the Knights held a respectable position within the hierarchy of the school. She grinned when she heard his question and took a moment before answering. "It's great. I've had a bunch of freshman staring up at me with wide eyes all morning," she said with a laugh. Then shook her head. "Speaking of freshman, do they seem smaller this year?" She hadn't gotten an extreme growth spurt or anything, but she could swear the 14 year olds were smaller than they'd been in the past. Maybe it was because this year she'd be the closest to the top of the food chain that she'd ever get. Well, anyway, the freshmen just seemed shorter and skinnier. Like they were allowing 12 year olds into the school now. That would not be good for the future of the football or basketball teams, but Riley figured the kids would grow by the time they became juniors and seniors... Hopefully. She pushed the thought away and looked Jamie up and down. "You're looking good," she commented. Summer had seemed to treat him well, but it always seemed the Knights came back to school energized and good looking. Well, maybe not in the morning. But by the time they remembered their place within the school, they always looked as if they were on top of the world. "Come on, let's sit down and catch up. Uh, unless you need to buy lunch first," she said, watching as the line for food grew and grew. She'd be more than happy to share her lunch with Jamie, though she doubted a small sandwich and an apple was enough to feed to teenage athletes.

Nanu Amari >:3c
If there was one thing to be said about Nanu, it was that she didn't really give a f**k. She did what she wanted, when she wanted - she'd always skipped classes even in other places with stricter rules, she didn't really care about whatever hierarchy there was...it was often that she was shoved to the bottom of the food chain, but rare that anybody actually acted upon that. She'd had teachers shying away from her, and that didn't bother her. She was a smart kid, sure, but did she put effort into school? Not really. Enough to not get kicked out, not enough for people to acknowledge that she wasn't just all brawn. It made her a little more unnerving to those who picked up on it.
She thrived off the fact that nothing was definite about her. Was she rich, was she poor, how old was she, where was she from? There were so many questions and yet they were either never asked or rarely answered.
A single eyebrow raised at the comment of her phone and her lips quirked up into a little smile. For a moment, she debated rebelling against even this girl; but after a moment, she locked it and shoved it in her pocket, instead choosing to rest her elbows on the table. She spread her fingers lightly to show that her hands were empty, before absently tearing her panini into pieces. A habit picked up from family that was too hard to break, so she continued to do it. There was something calming about it, made her anxiety settle.
"I am she," she laughed softly. "And you, I think, are Estella Lobo, no? A Princess who likes to stick her nose into trouble. I hope that all you have heard is good things."
She knew that that wasn't the case. Rumours were rarely good, especially surrounding her - especially surrounding some that she'd quietly spread herself. It was easy to appear intimidating, better to get people to stay away when she was scary. But so far, that hadn't seemed the case; first with Nate (and the money that paid for her sandwich) and now with Estella, who hadn't moved but rather seemed interested (and interesting, even).
Maybe it was edgy to think so, but people didn't understand. Being a rebel was one thing, being a criminal was another - being the child of a criminal was like her own living hell. Sure, it had its perks - the people she could associate herself with were good people (aside from, y'know, the killing, which she didn't mind so much anymore), and her father could be classed as a certified bada**. But in the end, it was stressful; the nights where she wasn't sure if he was coming home, or when he came home injured. Her hands were steady for a reason, and it was not just because she'd been handling guns, been settling into what could, essentially, become a family business.
All people saw on the outside was Nanu Amari, a grinning rebel with a knack for fake IDs and ways to get things that she shouldn't have been able to get. Drugs for a party? Nanu knew a guy who wouldn't snitch on her. That was just the sort of life she'd lead, the reason why she was constantly moving.
"I never thought I'd find someone like you here," her smile continued on, a knowing one with raised eyebrow included. "Isn't it frowned upon to leave school premises even for lunch?"

L E O N H A R D Y If there was one thing that Leon Hardy was known for, it would have to be for his love of- or perhaps obsession with- food. Be it good food, bad food, or things that one might not even consider to be food, there was always the likely chance that he could somehow get his mouth around it, no matter the circumstances, or the story of how he got it in the first place. Would Leo steal a snack or two if he saw the right opportunity to do so? Definitely, as he was not above a little petty theft, and especially if it came out of rich hands with designer bags. If anything, he would consider himself to be a bit of a Robin Hood figure, even if he didn't often share the loot... or at all, really.
Of course, on that day, Leo had no such devious intentions. The school year had just begun, and in that moment, he was hungry. He wanted to eat, first and foremost, and besides- if he was to snatch a little baggy of this or that, he at least wanted to know who it was coming from. He wanted to know who was most likely to rip his throat out, or who wouldn't notice; who might actually need it, and who could do without it. So for the time being, he was content to observe and to eat... though, some company would have been nice.
With his head up, his table empty, and the sandwich in his hands already half finished, it would be easy to say that Leo looked a little out of place, sitting there by himself. He was a little odd, yes, all wide-eyed and pale, somehow both open and blunt, yet withdrawn and introverted- but there was no denying the fact that he had a group that he stuck to; a group that hadn't arrived yet, and that he was growing increasingly annoyed with. What was holding them all up?
Digging into the pocket of his hoodie, his sandwich dangling precariously from one hand, it wasn't long before he decided to find out, and pulled free his phone.
'Yo,' he texted, 'its lunchtime. hurry up or i egg your houses.'

LeaSadie BrennanLunchtime: The Royals Table
Despite the stigmas that often came with being one of the most popular people in school, Sadie considered herself to be as good a student as her sister. Well, okay; not quite, but almost. She wasn't a practical genius like Skylar was, and she didn't get the best grades in her class, not by a long shot. But she was the kind of kid that went to all of her classes, she did all her work, and she wasn't one of those kids who simply took work time as an excuse to chat it up with her crew. No; that was what lunch was for, and despite not being the smartest kid around she took her class time seriously. She spent the entire first half of the day working hard, and at this point she was definitely ready to take a break. After all, she'd found herself faced with her most difficult classes before lunch period. Well, two of them, anyway. She'd started the day out faced with AP Physics (she had no clue why she'd decided to take the advanced placement version of the course), her study hall second, and finally World Geography right before lunch. Sure, there were kids her age with harder schedules; she'd cringed at the sight of how difficult her own sister's schedule had looked when the pair had met up in World Geo (Seriously; Skylar didn't even have a study hall to speak of!), but Sadie felt that her workload was basically at the very edge of what she could handle. She was packed up and ready to go the moment the bell rang to signal the end of the period, and sprang to her feet the moment that the class was dismissed. She thought that she heard an exclamation of surprise from Skylar, but she was already out the door and into the hall, weaving her way toward the lunch hall. She liked to be near the front of the line, where she could get her food and sit down before the masses started flowing in, and so it was pretty lucky that the geography room was right by the lunchroom, allowing her to zoom right up to the front. It didn't hurt, either, that people tended to get out of her way whenever she was coming through. Most of her classmates knew who she was and knew that she was part of the royal crew, making her one of the most respected juniors at Camelot High, right beneath the King and the Queen, of course. Gathering her lunch, she wove her way through the crowd toward the appropriate table, stepping carefully to avoid tripping over other students' belongings. She had made the mistake her very first day of freshman year, right in front of the royal table; she'd fallen flat on her face, on her way to make a bold attempt at sitting with the most popular kids in school. She'd spent her freshman year, humiliated, at the exiles' table, until the end-of-year talent show had finally gotten the royal family to notice her again. Crazy how life worked out sometimes, eh? Successfully navigating to the table, she slid into her seat of honor, setting her tray down in front of her. So far, it was only her and Booker Dohman who sat at the table, awaiting the arrival of some of their friends. She popped a French fry into her mouth, chewing slowly to allow him some time to register her presence, before she finally spoke. "Hey, Booker. You have a good summer?" Her voice was casual, disguising the nervousness that she felt. It still felt strange to consider herself one of the royal crowd, even if it had been what she'd wanted since she first set foot in Camelot. The notion was forever present in her mind, that one wrong move would make her the most hated person in the school. And that was one place she didn't want to be.

Jaime Myles Washington// reply to riley
Jaime nodded along as his fellow Knight chatted, his mind split into a hundred scattered thoughts. Part of him listened to Riley, laughing as she mentioned the freshmen. Is that Alexi?
“I know right?” he replied a smile on his face. That girl’s still got it going on. “It’s like you could accidentally knee them in the face just walking.” I wonder if- no nevermind. He began absentmindedly picking at hangnails, not trying to be disruptive, but needing something to do with his hands that would keep them from fidgeting. It wasn’t that the boy didn’t like talking to his peer, in fact he liked Riley a lot. She wasn't nearly as stuffy as the other Knights. But it was his first day back in the game called 'high school'- there were just too many things going on to focus on one.
"You're looking good." The words brought him out of his temporary daze. Heck- those words could bring him back from the dead (and he knew he'd manage to look crazy good even in a coffin). He let a flirtatious smile cross his lips, teasing her with an exaggerated wink. "I better be," he started, dodging out of the way of a lost freshman. "It takes a lot of work to look this good."
When she motioned to the table, he followed eagerly. "Nope, I got up early so I wouldn't have to wait through that mess of a line," He replied pulling out a classic paper bag. "It may not be as pretty as yours, but it's still food."
Sitting down he pulled out a green apple, proceeding to take a bite while waiting for the girl to settle herself. "So how was your summer?" He asked, letting his posture go to crap as he leaned as far back as you can on a glorified bench with no back. The Knight look like the break from school had treated her well- at least, as far as Jaime could tell. Her hair was still it's alluring blonde, and her eyes still a pretty blue. Heck- if Jaime didn't have his eye set out on other girls he probably would've found the senior fairy attractive.
The thought brought color to his cheeks. He almost felt guilty for having even considered the possibility- Riley was always just a friend. No need to change what's already good. he thought with a smirk, regaining his confidence.
"Mine was god awful." His added, enthusiastically. "Mine father thought it would be a good idea to haul me off to Europe for 'bonding'." The junior let out a huff. "But of course it was just another business meeting he decided to drag me to." He rolled his eyes dramatically. "You know Paris is a lot more lonely when you're by yourself."
That is, until an extremely hot tourist from London named Amy needs directions to catch up with her family. Okay- maybe his summer hadn't been a total bust- but still.
"I spent the entire time wondering what everyone else was doing back at home." he half-lied.
(Sorry for the delay, it's finals week so I'm kinda a mess. . )

Nate & Yuuta
As fourth period drew to a conclusion and the bell rang, Nate stood up without any preamble, slinging his bag over his shoulder and headed towards the door. He hadn't really been paying much attention to his class, but it wasn't like there was much to pay attention to anyways. The first day of school after break was always the same. Teachers went over syllabuses and outlined what they expected their classes to function like. He could've probably skipped the classes without really missing out on anything at all, but it wouldn't look good to his father and since his dad was around for the time being, he wanted his dad to be proud of him. Already out the door, a sharp push propelled him forward. Furrowing his brows at the idea of some idiot daring to mess with him, he whirled around ready to get into a fight, but found himself met with the familiar sight of Yuuta's warm eyes and big smile. It was kind of weird to think that Yuuta had been absent all break long (something about a "family trip" to Japan), but seeing the other was a welcoming site though he would never bring himself to admit it. "It seems like you didn't notice me at all," Yuuta said, grinning widely as he shoved past Benji to walk alongside him down the hallways. "That's a little harsh."
"Maybe if you were taller or something, I'd notice you," he huffed, but his words had no impact on Yuuta who only laughed. Yuuta shook his head as he trailed alongside Nate, his status enough to get them free passage through the crowded hallways from the kids who shied away from trouble. If anybody knew Yuuta, and at this point, Nate was sure everybody knew Yuuta, they knew between him and Nate, Yuuta was more trouble. He didn't look the part with the pristine hair cut, button ups, and slacks, but in a throw down, Nate would put his money on Yuuta. It was a shame he was more interested in extra curriculars than he was in sports. He would have fit right in. It was a miracle he was still a peasant and not an exiled with his rebellious streak, but who was Nate to judge? "It's nice to see you too," Yuuta said, undeterred. Why was it that Yuuta was always so f*cking infallible except when dealing with sh*t like inequality and injustice? It was a little frustrating to deal with. It was like he didn't have any feathers to ruffle or something. "So," Yuuta peered at him with curiosity, causing him to raise an eyebrow in response, "What's your schedule?"Oh. Right. Digging into the back pockets of his jeans, he pulled out a crumpled paper and shoved it in Yuuta's general direction. Yuuta wasted no time to take it from him, unfolding it before pulling out his own neatly folded schedule. "Tell me I don't have to suffer more than one class with you," he said dryly, causing Yuuta to laugh once again. It was weird, he was used to playing the part of the charismatic one, but with Yuuta, the harsher edges of him were welcomed and it was kind of nice for a change. "Nope, you're stuck with me twice a day. We have our next class together," Yuuta answered without glancing up, pursing his lips thoughtfully. "It's government." Great. It just had to be one of the things Yuuta was most passionate about. Now he would never hear an end to that one. "I didn't know you were taking AP Gov."
"Ah yeah, the seniors last year said AP Gov and Econ weren't that hard so y'know. Anything to bring my grades up if I want a scholarship or something," he said and Yuuta seemed to accept those answers. Hell, maybe Yuuta would be able to give him some help and he wouldn't have to try half as hard in Gov and Econ. That would be nice for a change. Buying lunch over the idle conversation about upcoming classes and the other squad members, he felt his phone vibrate. Raising an eyebrow, he glanced towards Yuuta who shrugged before pulling out his own phone. Glancing over the incoming message from That Rat, he sighed. Of course Leo of all people was already at the tables. "Looks like we best hurry," Yuuta said as he shoved his phone back into his pocket and hurried along with his newly bought lunch. That was right. It was probably better if they didn't just amble along taking their time. He had, after all, invited Nanu to their table and if she didn't know where the hell they were seated considering she was a fairly new transfer, then there was a chance of her just lingering around. Besides, she took his money. There was no way she could back out of this meeting. Seeing Leo from a distance, he raised a hand in a half greeting before settling down a fair distance from Leo just for the safety of his lunch. Yuuta, despite his time with the squad, didn't seem any the wiser and sat right next to Leo. Or maybe he just didn't care? Nate could never tell with Yuuta. Keeping an eye out for Nanu, he decided to try to strike a conversation with Leo, considering he and Yuuta had arrived together. "How were classes? I've been hearing talk about a party, but usually we don't crash that kinda sh*t."
"We'll see when the lover boys arrive. Beau'll say," Yuuta answered, unwrapping his sandwich. Humming thoughtfully, he tapped his hand lightly against the table before finally digging into his lunch, "You're right on that. Guess we gotta wait till they come."

( lazy penguin Don't worry about it. I've been busy with stuff too) Riley watched Jamie as she spoke to him. She could see that he wasn't paying 100% attention to her, but that didn't bother her. First of all, she was used to it. She was sure that her friend was looking at the girls weaving in and out of the crowd. Plus, he was giving her more attention than she usually got when she was talking with her siblings. The twins, Link, and Elijah always seemed to get the most attention, while Riley, Kate, and Finn faded into the background because there was nothing special about the three of them. She smiled at his comment about the freshman. "I swear," she grumbled and shook her head. "There's a freshman in my world of business class and he's so tiny. I swear, I thought he was some twelve year old that accidentally wandered into the wrong school," she teased with a laugh. Of course, the boy had also managed to get them out of class with his phone, so she didn't hold any hard feelings towards him. She actually didn't mind the younger boy. He was just so tiny. "There's no way we were that small when we were freshman," she said, indicating the juniors and seniors as a group. Even the sophomores were a bit smaller than she remembered being. "It's kinda cute too though." Riley knew she caught his attention with the comment about his looks. Guys like him thrived off of that kind of attention. But when she saw the flirtatious smile and the wink he sent in her direction, she found herself laughing. "You're such a dork, Jaime," she said, though her tone showed that there was no malice in her words. She meant it as a compliment and threw her arm around his shoulders as they made their way to their usual table. She saw that none of the other knights had arrived, so it'd just be her and Jamie. "I'm sure it does. About how long do you spend in front of the mirror every morning?" she asked teasingly, her eyes sparkling as she began to banter with him. Riley nodded when she saw his lunch. "See, I wanted to bring lunch from home but the twins woke me up too early and then I forgot to ask Elijah to make me a lunch and he doesn't do anything unless he's asked," she said, rolling her eyes. She complained about her siblings enough at school, that any of her friends should know enough to know that Riley loved her siblings, but they were a pain sometimes. Especially the 13 year old twins. Nick and Vince were the youngest of her siblings and seemed to thrive off of causing trouble. Of course, they were also the main source of fun in her house. Sometimes, however, they were simply too much. Riley took a seat next to Jamie and set her tray down on the table. She unwrapped the Uncrustable she'd bought for lunch and took a bite of it, chewing her food before she answered his question. "Mine was alright," she said with a half shrug. "I spent a lot of time at the gym. And the beach," she said. She didn't do much over the summer. She'd also spent plenty of time at the barn which helped to contribute to her oddly pale hands and legs. At least her time at the beach had helped to even put her skin a bit. Her whole body was a golden tan that she knew would fade back to its oddly pale as fall and winter came in. But yes, she'd spent her entire summer here. With nothing to do except hang out with her siblings and whatever friends had always been constrained to this area. She took another bite and glanced at Jamie as she chewed. She did find him attractive and always had, but she didn't say anything. She didn't want to make a mistake and jeopardize their friendship. Plus, she knew Jamie already had plenty of eyes on him. She enjoyed having him as a friend and didn't think that the possibility of something more than friendship was worth the risk of completely losing him as a friend, so she'd stayed quiet about. When she listened to his story about his vacation, she found herself laughing. "Oh, next time he wants drag you off on vacation to some foreign country, let me know. I'll gladly stowaway in your luggage for the chance to get out of here," she said with a laugh. While her family wasn't poor, they never had money to go on vacation. Her parents worked more hours than most to earn money for their family, but they never had enough laying around to take seven kids and two parents on vacations. "In fact, please drag me along next time your dad drags you along," she said with a laugh and shake of her head. The closest she got to vacation is the one year she worked as a summer camp Counselor. Since she'd gotten older and had to get a job along with fitting in everything else she had to do, she didn't have time to work as a camp counselor anymore. So if she could go on vacation with Jamie and his dad, that would be great. Of course, she wouldn't actually hope for that, knowing it'd be a burden to drag another high schooler on vacation. Of course, she wouldn't argue against planting the idea in Jamie's mind. Then she nodded at his last comment. "And I spent my entire summer wondering how everyone that actually left was doing," she joked, adding in a laugh. It was true though. She'd had plenty of friends that had traveled abroad, or even to other states, over summer and she'd wondered what they were doing. Yes she had social media and texting to keep up with them, but some had been too busy having a good time to keep her updated on their summers.

Jaime Myles Washington// riley reply
Jaime laughed along as Riley practically begged him to take her on an outing. "Careful there sweety," he teased lightly. "I'm not sure even you would be able to put up with me for that long." He ran a hand quickly through his hair, both actively trying to fix it and find a way to keep his fingers from tapping on the table. "Plus I'm pretty sure my father wouldn't approve of me bringing a girl when I'm usually so... unchaperoned. "
Okay, maybe it was an embarrassing joke. But, he knew that Riley wasn't the type to get all flustered either. "Either way," he started, pausing to let out a slight chuckle. "If everything goes according to plan, I'll being staying home next summer. It'll hopefully be a nice change of pace." And it will totally beat another boring trip with my father, he thought quietly.
Though he loved his father as much as you could someone who never seemed to be around, Jaime found it ridiculous that he expected him to be excited about this trips where he was totally isolated. When he told his dad he wanted to skip it, he couldn't help but notice the disappointing frown that crossed his face. It was like he was angry that his son wasn't going to be 100% exactly like him.
Letting out a huff of warm air, he felt his mind drifting again. He was a junior this year. Meaning his parents would expect him to have his entire future planned out by the end of it. They'd pester him with ridiculous questions that he had no idea of the answer to. What college do you want to go to? What do you want to major in? Are you going to be a businessman like your father? He was terrified to tell them he just wanted to play sports and laugh his way through life. They'd just shake their head- laughing. Nice joke Jaime. Very funny.
In fact, the junior was pretty sure his father just assumed he wanted to follow in his footsteps. That's why he insisted on dragging his son across the world for the most boring business events. Heck- maybe if Riley or one of his other friends were to go with him he would find himself enjoying it. Then he could actually experience the culture- the life of the world.
But that would never happen, at least not now.
"So what classes do you have this year? Anything you're nervous or excited about?" Though he kept his smile up, the junior felt his worries ease a little when he looked at his fellow Knight. There was something calming about being near a person you didn't need to put up an act around.

lazy penguinRiley rolled her eyes when Jamie said she couldn't put up with him for that long. "Are you kidding me, Washington?" she asked teasingly. "I have five brothers with different personalities. That I have to live with. I think I can put up with you for a vacation," she pointed out, raising an eyebrow. Riley thought it was a pretty good point. Elijah, the oldest, was probably the most mature. He was also bossy and had his moments of childness. Finn was the next. Your typical bad boy player mixed with a jock. Lincoln was younger than Riley and a pretentious know it all that didn't even seem to like his siblings because he thought he was better than him. And the twins were the youngest. The biggest troublemaking duo on this side of the country. She managed living with them. Jamie would be easy to deal with. His next point, however, was another good one. She found herself chuckling a bit, but she didn't get all flustered or embarrassed. "Unless we start hanging out more and prove to your father that we're no more than friends," she suggested. This was her last attempt. She didn't want to annoy Jamie if he was just giving excuses instead of saying that he didn't want her to come along. "If he sees we aren't dating and won't get into any trouble, then he wouldn't mind. Plus, I'm sure I could take more hours at work and save up enough for a plane ticket. Hotel room. That stuff," she said. She wouldn't want Jamie's father to pay for her if he let her go with them. Riley nodded when Jamie said he wanted to stay home next summer. "I'd totally offer you to stay at our house if your dad doesn't want you home alone but I don't think you'd like it," she joked. She enjoyed making fun of her family, though she also knew they had each others back. "You'd have to either sleep on the couch or share a room with one of them. Probably Finn or Lincoln. And you wouldn't be able to sleep in. Nick and Vince like to play music really loudly after our parents leave when the rest of us are trying to sleep." She shook her head. The thought was amusing. More of a joke than an actual offer. Nobody would actually want to live with her family. Riley did want to leave. Leave the state, the country. Anything. Maybe Jamie was her ticket out if she could manage to tag along on vacation with him. She had only managed to leave once or twice and it was never very far. She wanted to experience the world and learn and see things she couldn't see here. Even the college she'd chosen was much too close to home for her liking. In her defense, she didn't want to be drowning in debt and didn't have that much in her bank account. So she wanted to go to the same school as Finn and Elijah and Kate so she could live at home and save money. Now, she expected most of her friends to get out of here once they graduated, but she hoped a few would stay back and go to school where she was. Riley shook her head. "Not much in the way of fun. Spanish. Business. A few too many AP classes," she said with a frown, regretting how hard she'd made her senior year. Of course, she knew she didn't have what it took to be a professional athlete. So instead she was going to be a vet, if everything went according to plan. She loved animals and it was something that could make her a lot of money. She also planned on riding throughout college. And maybe picking up another sport or two. She was one of the best softball players at this school, but she wasn't sure if she had what it took to play softball in college. "What about you?" she asked.

L E O N H U N G R Y Often times, delight was not an expression seen upon Leo's face. It seemed odd, for there were a great many other explosive emotions that the boy could display, but pure, tempered delight was not often one of them. Excitement was inevitable, smug satisfaction came on the daily, and yet, delight seemed more of a miracle than it did a possibility... Taking that into account, one could say that- in that moment- it was a day of miracles; odd, pointless, and relatively reasonable miracles. It showed in the smile that he pulled- wide, toothy, and bright-eyed.
"So, you got my text!" There was a bit of a crack within his voice when he finally did address the boys. Nate and Yuuta- two opposing forces, one might say- were certainly not who he'd expect to see in the lunch hall first, and perhaps that was due to a little streak of favoritism. When it came down to it, the honest truth was that his hopes had been pinned on Noboru, who he usually and characteristically stuck himself beside. Nonetheless, of course, he was still happy to see the two that had shown up thus far. He enjoyed their company equally well, though for different reasons.
Nate, who he eyed with a knowing squint, was settling himself down a good few seats away from him, perhaps to protect his meal. Leo liked Nate- there was no doubt about that- but he'd be lying if he said that his feelings towards him felt more like love and less like amusement. In a way, Nate served as a bit of an entertainment- one that had earned himself a bit of warmth and affection, of course, but who, at large, remained what he was; something funny and somewhat interesting to watch. Why was that? Maybe... oh, who knows; all that he was sure about was the fact that the feeling had really taken flight once he'd spotted the tattoo upon the Ward boy's back, and from then on, it had all gone downhill.
Yuuta, on the other hand, was nice enough to sit close; close enough that Leo, with his sandwich once again held between his hands, could take the liberty of leaning warmly against his shoulder. It was a greeting, just as much as it was a way for him to scope out what his friend had brought for lunch; nothing interesting, and yet his stomach still growled at the sight of it. Now, unlike Nate, Yuuta had earned himself a bit of respect within Leo's heart. Yuuta felt solid, driven, and he didn't even bother to shield his lunch through distance as Nate had. As far as Leo was concerned, that earned him the place of 'a good guy' within his eyes... though, he wasn't entirely sure how applicable the term was to anyone in the gang, really.
"Classes?" Through a bite of turkey and ham, Leo barely managed to get the word out before he gulped down his mouthful. "Mm... Nice enough, I guess," he mused, his eyes circling the bottle that he absently took in hand. The cap had already been removed, but he hadn't taken a single sip from it as of yet, and so, when he finally did take a swig, he was quick to scrunch his nose. Turning it, he eyed the label. Cranberry-apple was not what he'd expected. "Pro'lly gonna bomb, but maybe that's just my pessimism speaking."
Well, truthfully, Leo would probably do fine in the coming year, though he wasn't likely to admit to it. While his actions didn't speak much in the ways of academic brilliance, there was always the history of steady B's and the occasional A to back him up. Though it all seemed a bit wasted on him, if he was to be honest; in his eyes, good grades felt more appropriate in the hands of people with ambitions, goals, more than one hobby, and a hobby that wasn't simply eating your way towards an early grave. However, when he heard the crinkle of a wrapper coming undone, all these thoughts were easily dispelled.
"A party?" With his words coming out half-baked and distracted, it would certainly be a stretch to say that Leo was actually listening to the bits of conversation that passed him by then. Rather, upon the appearance of food, his attention had been swiftly and near entirely stolen. "You know, I'm not much into that kinda thing," he muttered, his words soon coming to a halt as he stuffed the rest of his sandwich into his mouth. It was true that Leo had never really had the stamina to keep up with things like people, parties, and- as shown then- conversations. He'd much rather sit at home with his lovely cat, Greg, than occupy his time by being social.
"Too much... noise, not enough pay off." With his attention finally flicking back towards Nate, apparently having been teased enough to break away from Yuuta's lunch, he paused for a moment to pull back the corner of his mouth; it was a bit of a frown, or perhaps a look of troubled contemplation- but either way, it disappeared soon enough. "Unless we steal their food, that is."
