- - - AVERSION and ASCENSION
- - - 1289 AG — The Year of the Pig
The Four Republics have been at relative harmony for over a hundred years. Without the Avatar, bending has dwindled to a art and the theory of bending a meditative activity. However, there are still underground bending fighting and training within gangs, triad, and urban mafia’s. There is also duels and betting on those duels. Republic and Nation City the larger of the cities that dueling and unlicensed bending. The betting ring in these cities are the largest. Nation City, however, is the most vicious of all cities. Resting near Boiling Rock Prison, many criminals released from the prison find themselves stuck in the Republic of Vesta and Nation City, earning money in the betting ring and consistent underground fights. The city is high-tech and modernized, the second largest Future Industries headquarters located in the center, the Fire Lord and elected officials, the most protected since World War I to keep its citizens from harm outside the Republic of Vesta, and also the most strictest police force of all the cities. It’s where an unlikely group meet. - - -

1Years before the Air Nomad Genocide (BG) 2Years after the Air Nomad Genocide (AG) 30 AG is the year Fire Lord Sozin used the power of Sozin's Comet to begin the Hundred Year War; the Air Nomad Genocide serves as the epoch for the dating system. - - -
BEFORE THE ERA OF RAAVA (before c. 19,829 BG)
- Tui and La manifest in the physical world, assuming mortal forms as koi fish.
- The Mother of Faces gives birth to Koh, the Face Stealer; however, they later become separated.
- Vaatu breaks through the barriers that separate humans and spirits, allowing both to travel between the spirit and mortal worlds.
ERA OF RAAVA (c.19,829 BG — c. 9,829 BG) c.19,829 BG — Era of Raava
- Raava, the spirit of light and peace, duels with her counterpart, Vaatu, the spirit of darkness and chaos. The first known Harmonic Convergence occurs.
Unknown date before c. 9,850 BG
- Humans begin to build their cities on the shells of lion turtles to protect themselves from the dangers of the Spirit Wilds. Whenever the people have to venture into the wilds to collect food, the lion turtles bestowed upon the hunters the ability to control one of the elements. Eventually, the majority of the cities lost contact and knowledge of each other's existence, and developed unique cultures.
9,850 BG — Year of the Dragon 9,848 BG — Year of the Horse c. 9,832 BG — Year of the Dog
- Wan steals the element of fire from a lion turtle to incite rebellion and steal food from the Chou family.
- Wan is banished into the Spirit Wilds.
- Wan befriended the spirits and learned the Dancing Dragon Firebending form.
c. 9,830 BG — Year of the Rat
- Wan severs the link connecting Raava and Vaatu, in the process releasing chaos into the world.
- Wan and Raava begin their journey together to master the other elements.
c. 9,829 BG — Year of the Ox

- The second known Harmonic Convergence occurs.
- Wan and Raava become permanently bonded, making Wan the first Avatar.
- Wan defeats and locks away Vaatu in an elemental barrier in the hollow of the Tree of Time.
- Wan orders the spirits to return to their world and separates the two realms by sealing the spirit portals located at the North and South Poles.
- In the advent of the Avatar, the lion turtles collectively decided that their task as protectors of mankind was done and that they would no longer grant any more bending powers.
FIRST AGE OF THE AVATAR (c. 9,829 BG — 171 AG) Pre-war (c. 9,829 BG — 1 BG) Unknown date before c. 3,829 BG
- As humanity left the cities established on the lion turtles, they begin to come in to contact with each other. The different peoples begin to wage war against each other, forcing Wan to intervene in order to maintain peace. His efforts, however, are of little success. The violent conflicts continue until his death and beyond. The next Avatar is born into the cycle after Wan's death.
c. 3,829 BG
- The Airbending Guru Laghima achieves weightlessness and lives his final forty years without touching the ground.
830 BG
- A past Avatar defeats Hundun and mortally wounds his brother, forcing the conjoined twin kings to retreat to the Spirit World.
Unknown date before 345 BG
- Wan Shi Tong brings his library from the Spirit World into the physical world.
- Humanity splits into the four nations, each divided by the respective bending arts. The Air Nomads learn the art of Airbending from the flying bison, the Earth Kingdom learn the art of Earthbending from the badgermoles (Oma and Shu being the first known humans to Earthbend), the Sun Warriors learn the art of Firebending from the dragons, and the Water Tribes learn the art of Waterbending by observing the pull of the moon on the ocean tides.
- A group of Waterbenders from the Northern Water Tribe construct a large city out of ice in order to unite the various tribes inhabiting the North Pole region.
- Following a civil unrest, the Water Tribe —which was originally centered around the North Pole— splits into two groups: one stayed at the North Pole, while the other group went out to settle the South Pole. Relations with their sister tribe were later healed, and the two tribes would gather together at annual New Moon celebrations.
- A large group of Waterbenders from the Southern Water Tribe, who are wandering through the Earth Kingdom, discover the Foggy Swamp and, comfortable with the large amount of water there, decide to stay, forming the Foggy Swamp Tribe. The Southern Water Tribe never learns of this offshoot and the Foggy Swamp Tribe itself later forgets its own origins.
- The Sun Warrior civilization flourishes, learning Firebending from dragons. They operate under a tribal chiefdom led by a single chief. They eventually fade into obscurity, hiding in ruins, and are believed to be extinct. The rest of the Fire Islands archipelago is influenced by their culture, and the islanders carry on the art of Firebending.
- Warlords battle each other for land in the disaggregated Fire Islands. One of them, Toz, orders the abduction of all of the children of the village that refused to provide him with tribute. The children are never seen again, causing their mothers to die from sadness and become Kemurikage spirits. The Kemurikage exact their vengeance by taking the children of the warlord and his men, leading to the collapse of Toz's regime as his men abandon him out of fear of the dark spirits.
- At some point, several members of the Bhanti Tribe venture from their island, located in the southern region of what would later become the Fire Nation archipelago, to the other nations, where they become sages.
- A man manages to defeat the remaining warlords and bring them to justice, thus uniting the Fire Islands into the Fire Nation, under himself as the first Fire Lord, leader of the spiritual Fire Sages, descendants of Bhanti Tribe emigrants. The Fire Lord and the Fire Sages lead a spiritual rule, much as the Air Nomads were led by their monks. Over time, however, the Fire Lord accumulated political power, ruling the Fire Nation as a sovereign, and the office became hereditary, beginning the line of Fire Lords.
- The vast Earth Kingdom is gradually united under the political authority of the city-state of Ba Sing Se. The King of Ba Sing Se becomes Earth King, overlord of all of the smaller kingdoms within the Earth Kingdom, some of which retain their own hereditary lordship.
- Avatar Yangchen of the Air Nomads is born in the Western Air Temple, after the death of her predecessor. Her reign as Avatar is a peaceful one, due to her fierce dedication to keeping balance and serving the world. She dies around 345 BG, and Avatar Kuruk is born in the Northern Water Tribe.
- Avatar Kuruk tries to kill Koh, the Face Stealer, as revenge for stealing the face of his fiancée Ummi. This event is confusing to place chronologically, as if Koh's description of the event is taken literally, it would have happened c. 800-700 BG, over three hundred years before Kuruk's death.

- Avatar Kuruk dies; Avatar Kyoshi of the Earth Kingdom is born.
c. 270 BG — Year of the Dog

- In the fighting, Avatar Moira enters the Avatar State and is nearly killed by a bending militia unit.
- The Non-Bending protests return under the crumpling city.
458 AG — Year of the Monkey
- Avatar Moira returns after a long meditative state, offering a new set of republics unifying the world in governments, Bending and Non-Bending traditions, while remaining industrializing to the world’s continuing growth.
- Under Avatar Moira’s guidance, the Earth Kingdom representatives, and Fire Lord, four Air Nomad Monks, four new republics were sketched out to be formed slowly under 100 years.
- The Fire Lord, like the Earth King, would be in-charge however a senate would decide on actions as elected officials and could veto anything they feel is corrupt.
- However, democracy would be favored.
- No longer would a United Republic of Nations be in place, instead the four republics would rule as their own. Representatives would be sent to Republic City as a world capital to discuss issues between Republics every year.
590 AG — Year of the Monkey
- Avatar Moira passes away at 193; Avatar Tobias is born to Tallow and Suey Zirrar in Republic City.
598 AG — Year of the Dragon

619 AG — Year of the Ox

- Senator Connell argues that Non-Bending and Bending prejudice and segregation needs to end. Avatar Tobias agrees and announces each Republic requires to create, build, and imagine a world as if nobody can bend. Leading to a new inventive society of modernism.
679 AG — Year of the Ox

- Daksina is first to create a large scale explosion on the coast of Roku’s Island as warning.
708 AG — Year of the Horse
- Uttara and Purva enters the war in favor of aiding Vesta.
- While fighting remains, a emergency conference is held between the four Republics at Republic City Hall by the world leaders. Led by the White Lotus.
- Before peace can be sought, Avatar Lulu enters the Avatar State to destroy an oncoming fleet of tri-Republic forces.
- During the fight, leaving the sole Avatar as the survivor of the Daksina military; a joint-effort to bring her down leads to her death in the Avatar State and presumed ending of the Avatar Cycle completely and effectively.
AFTER WORLD WAR 1 (709 AG — PRESENT) 709 AG — Year of the Sheep
- The White Lotus is utilized as a peace force, remaining based in Republic City and republic capitals.
- Resolutions to disband bending combat are adopted by the four Republics known as the Lulu Resolution.
- However, each Republic has a secretive unit of Benders within their military that remains to this day.
750 AG — Year of the Rat
- Bending becomes taboo after bending disputes remain among the Republics. The White Lotus recommends an amendment to the Lulu Resolution that bending is considered a weapon of war and utilizing it in public without correct licensing could result in fining and/or imprisonment which is adopted.
760 AG — Year of the Dog
- While bender protest the segregation, bending is still practiced as an art with schools dedicated to learning it in an art form, and formal nationally televised dueling. However, it being used militantly and to harm others is strictly illegal. While Metalbending was used in police forces, it has been disbanded in favor of automatic weapons and force.

Republic City, a lasting city of the times. It's a large city in the Uttara region, though is not apart of any Republics. While many who live there come from all nationalities, Republic City is known as a peace-promoting city. Withe the White Lotus as mediators, the four Republics: Uttara, Purva, Daksina, and Vesta each meet once a year to discuss resolutions. However, representatives are always in Republic City and constantly pushing new ideals towards the public and meeting secretly. There are scatters of all cultures in Republic City, a unification of the four, religions, and it's own society. Republic City truly lived on since its creation. - - -
The Republic of UttaraNorthern part of the world that encompasses most of the former United Republic of Nations and Norhern Water Tribe. Many of the citizens are condensed in smaller towns and cities throughout the Republic.- Uttara has the smallest military of the four Republics, but is the closest to Republic City.
- It’s capital, Luthadel, is the most congested city in the Republic but is most protected with a police force, secret bending military unit, and underground outposts.
- Uttara is the best region for hiking and offers the largest agricultural product market.
- Crevice City is the city they fight over. While it is currently under the Republic of Uttara, the Purva Republic often fights over the claim of it as territory.
- While there is no formal academy for bending, the Northern Coast offers Waterbending training as an art and healing to train those who wish to further the art.
- - - The Republic of PurvaThe former Earth Kingdom and eastern part of the world. It’s a mostly desert and mountainous region, with the Si Wong Desert. However, the largest city in the world (Ba Sing Se) is the capital, which hosts a major tourist area, the capital of Bending Duels, and is easily the most populated of the Republics with few cities, smaller towns, but many people in those areas.
- Purva has the largest military of the Republics, and largest secret bending unit that violates the Lulu Resolution.
- Bending Duels began as an Earthbending sport in Ba Sing Se after the war. However, after it’s large popularity, Bending Duels became a officially recognized sport. Anyone who competes has license to bend inside the arena.
- There are other sports that happen around the world involving bending, however, Bending Duels is the most popular.
- While there is no acclaimed academies in Purva, Ba Sing Se is the most academic city with multiple schools for Bending within the walls.
- The Earth Kingdom still has a formal monarchy, though there is little to no power from the king or queen. The senate is in control of the government of the Republic.
- - - The Republic of DaksinaThe southernmost part of the world and island region. While Daksina has the southern Earth Kingdom, Daksina is made mostly up by the mountainous islands and Southern Pole. Many of these islands have smaller towns and villages, but most of them are wildlife plentiful. People live on the flattened islands (flattened by Earthbenders) and the mainland.
- Daksina has the largest naval force of the four Republics.
- The water trade route is owned by Daksina and any treacherous water activities is often investigated by them.
- The Earthbending Academy is one of the biggest academies in the world that hosts teachings in Earthbending of many variations; such as Metalbending, and Sandbending. However, the Earthbending Academy is more known for being able to produce skilled Bending Duel fighters.
- Daksina is the Republic without any true allies since the war. While on good relations with the Republics and promoting peace and change, Daksina is often looked at in a critical eye due to the first war and “end” of the Avatar Cycle.
- Kyoshi Island, though part of Daksina, do not participate in any military forces or choose sides in tension.
- - - The Republic of VestaThe western region of the world and former Fire Nation. Vesta is the smallest Republic and has the smallest population and land mass.
- While small, it’s police force is extravagant. It’s military and naval fleet is up to par and better than it was during the war, however, Vesta is a peace-promoting Republic that follows the values instilled from the former Fire Lord from long ago.
- Nation City, the capital, it the largest underground in Bending Duels. Unlicensed Benders from all over often travel to take part in the duels and betting pools. It is often hosted in locations near the water, however, the locations of these duels can change. It’s main arena, however, is located in underneath and in warehouse near the center of the city.
- Nation City is also great reformative place for criminals, or a dangerous place for those who return to commit crimes.
- Vesta’s police academy is the largest and best, especially in the non-bending values. Academy students are some of the best trained officers and detectives, some of which are officers at Boiling Rock Prison (the largest prison in the world) that handles master Bending criminals, and non-bending masterminds alike.
- The Fire Lord is still in charge of Vesta, though like Purva, there is little power between the democracy of the Republic. The Fire Lord, however, is a peace-promoter like it has been for generations in the footsteps of Iroh and Zuko.
- The Western Temple is the largest moniker place and though not a ‘true’ academy, it’s where many Airbender’s learn their spiritual roots (as the Western Temple is popular for education of the past) and skills from their past.

A. Republic City — the united national city of the world, people of all nations, and heritage converge on the city. The four republics send representatives to Republic City to negotiate and settle disputes and trading while the White Lotus mediates these yearly-meetings; it’s the most high-tech city of the four, with home-age for all former nations of benders, and spiritual locations. However, these are small and only found if a person looks for it. Republic City also is rather large in underground bending matches.
Republic of Uttara
B. Luthadel — the peninsula capital city of the Republic of Uttara. It’s a rather bustling in non-bender majority and located in the mountains. Though vehicular transportation is common, it’s easier to travel by water or air. C. North Coast — a northern city that is remote. Modernized, the city is small with few larger buildings. However, buildings remain small; it is the biggest location for Water Benders and also a very spiritual location for anyone seeking wisdom. 3. Spirit Oasis — a place where Tui and La, the moon and the ocean spirits. While a shrine is located within the small coastal city, the true Spirit Oasis is hidden and only accessible by matriarchs of the former Water Tribe. b. Adorine Town — a woodsy town. c. Uttara Resort — a tourist trap that many travel all-over to visit. It’s a large vacation spot. d. Pohuai — a military base. e. Maka Pu — a mountain-side town f. Crevice City — the dividing city between the Uttara Republic and Purva Republic. Negotiations on which Republic claims nationality of this city always comes up in the Republic City congress. D. Northern Mountain Plateau — the former Northern Air Temple, it’s a designated moniker place. Only by flight is it accessible, however, those who are on a journey to the temple often find a way up. ii. WuLong National Forest — a national park that hosts many creatures, campgrounds, and a few smaller towns. Republic of PurvaE. Ba Sing Se — the large capital city of the Republic of Purva. It’s outer walls are more suburban, while the inner walls are a large bustling city. The royal palace is still used, however, it’s largely a tourist trap with minor diplomatic ties. While a emperor is still in place, it’s a senate that runs the democracy of the Republic. F. Omashu — the second largest city in the Purva Republic, while it has smaller buildings; there are multiple factories located around it. Omashu is known for being built around mountains, which largely remained in tact with levels of the city. While many citizens live in the city there are many suburban houses located near Omashu. g. Gaipan — a river town that multiple people visit before making their way to Ba Sing Se. The Ba Sing Se water trade routes are notably based here. h. Si Wong City — the city by the desert. Anyone who wishes to travel the long distance through the Si Wong desert will find this cliff-side city beautiful for vacation in winter months, excellent hiking paths, and amazing architecture. Republic of DaksinaG. Southern Foothills — the former location of the Eastern Air Temple, it’s largely demolished and built into a conservatory for wildlife in the world. However, many nomadic and spiritual people still make their way into the former location. H. Coakley Island — the island capital of the Republic of Daksina, most notable for the mountain range it once hosted and ski resort. It’s not a large city, but it’s resources are valuable and naval fleet easily dominates other navies. Coakley Island is a Earthbending phenomena as it took many Earthbenders to flatten the island to be habitable for citizens. I. South Pole — mostly remote, it’s known for cold climate research, the training location of the Avatar (when and if found), and simplistic lifestyles of the former Water Tribes ancestors who remain. J. Patola Temple — the former Southern Air Temple, it’s a tourist trap; people come from all over to learn the history of Avatar Aang and the Hundred Year War. It’s likened to a museum now. j. Gao Ling City — a coastal trade city. Earthbending Academy is still here and renown for Earthbending army militias. Also is the richest city in the Republic. k. Chin — a coastal town. l. Kyoshi — still training warriors today, the Kyoshi Warriors hold no militant ties. Instead they value tradition and heritage, taking no sides in feuds and refusing any offer to be part of war. This sparks controversy sometimes. A Kyoshi representative is required to appear at military meetings in Republic City, but their stance remains the same. m. White Tail Island — a military outpost. iii. South-Eastern Mountain Range — a mountain range with wildlife and hiking paths. iv. Patola Mountains — a mountain range hosting the largest peak and a challenging climb. 4. The Swamp — according to elders, it is a spiritual and mysterious wetland location. Many who try and create large settlements and destroy the land find themselves hurt and often failing. The Swamp still hosts native Waterbenders. A mysterious ‘Swamp Beast’ is told to roam the land. Republic of VestaK. Nation City — the capital city of Vesta and former Fire Nation capital. The city still roosts between the long dormant volcanoes of the island. The outer city is suburban, agricultural, and fishing. The inner city is large, built as close to the volcanoes as possible and modernized. It’s another large city that street benders and underground bending societies happen. Nation City also has the largest bending unit in their army. Nation City is also protected from water by the large Gates of Azulon. L. Western Temple — one of the most relaxing places there can be. The Western Temple allows easy access for people of all nationalities, bending and non-bending, can seek spiritual guidance from monks and matriarchs of all over. a. Boiling Rock Prison — this is a prison where many Republics send their most difficult prisoners to be held with it’s high-security measures, rumored bender guards, and isolation techniques. Vesta is begrudged that they pay for the prison, it often comes up that other Republics pay for prisoners to be held there. n. Fire Fountain City — a former Fire Nation City. o. Harbor City — a trading city. i. Western Mountain Range — an ancient, mysterious mountain range. Many meditative folk hike this range, and it’s also notorious for artifacts of Air Nomads and Sun Warriors. People who search for the masters of Firebending attempt to locate them in this range, however, they have not been found since the Hundred Year War. 1. Roku’s Sacred Island — an uninhabited island that is sacred to Firebenders and the Avatar Spirit Raava. Whomever had tried to taint the island have ended up receiving misfortune, leaving it a simple island that nobody visits of remembers. 2. Sun Warrior Ruins — the ruins of the Sun Warriors. Some have been found by anthropologists. However, many of the spiritual locations give off mysterious and strange aura’s, making it difficult to explore, take, and discover within these locations. - - -

THE AGGRESSOR — [ EZRA ZEPHYRA ] Ever since he entered the illegal Bending Dueling in Nation City, he’s been on a metaphorical war-path to the top. Of course there were practical aspects of Bending Dueling—he had to be resourceful, able to hold his own, creative, and good at it—thankfully, the Aggressor is all those and more. While being a skilled Dueler, there is one thing he fails to mention to anyone (except his best friend, the Archer) is he knows he can Firebend. It happens, occasionally, when mad. However, the Aggressor fails to denotes it as anything but ‘my family is mixed’ and fails to bring it up—refuses to bring it up—in conversations. He makes Airbending near-fatal with his razor sharp wind techniques and amplification of sound waves. Unfortunately, he’s actually the Avatar and has no idea how to deal with it and refuses to acknowledge it at all. MALE / AVATAR
- - - THE ARCHER — [ EMIL ARTOOTRA ] There is never a dull day in the Archer’s life, really. When he’s not running around with his best friend, the Aggressor, he’s watching in tension in the undergrounds hoping they don’t get themselves killed. While being a Non-Bender, the Archer has a great talent in archery—able to hit a bulls-eye from far away—and doesn’t fail to let their best friend forget when they end up in awkward situations! The Archer is a gift in the betting pool, constantly placing bets and gambling on their friend in the dueling underground. They’re the one who was forced to grow up too fast, protecting their friend, remaining cynical and serious at times. Also, they recognize their friend as the Avatar but whenever he brings it up, it fails to become a full conversation. They’re not as dumb as they may seem to be with their lack of knowledge in the Bending Arts and more knowledgeable in the art of gambling and hustling and archery. MALE / NON-BENDER
- - - THE TEACHER — [ name ] An Airbender from the Western Temple, their peaceful, traditionalist personality provide a good source of conflict for the hot-headed friends and others in the group. However, she’s an expert in the spirit projection and has a strong connection with their spiritual side. She’s in Nation City to visit family who live away from the Western Temple and continue her spirit training in the city environment. It’s not unusual to happen upon criminal activities in Nation City, she never really seeked them out. However, curious enough to the nature of the new surrounding city, she simply stumbles upon the underground life. FEMALE / AIRBENDER
- - - THE PRINCE — [ AMIAS SHOTOSU ] Nights in Nation City were always a glamorous affair. The people! The clothes! The bubbly drinks in fluted glasses and those tiny, tasty hors d’oeuvre. At least, one would gush about the high-class life, and possibly the Prince loves it. He gesticulates in delight of the richer life. However, when it comes to Dueling—it’s a delicate affair—he’s trained in Firebending like his fathers and mothers before him. However, it’s not allowed the Fire Lord Heir to be Dueling, even if it’s licensed matches. The Prince is a high-class figure who stumbles upon the low-class affairs by accident—or intentional—and simply basks in the delight of the fight, watching or participating. MALE / FIRE LORD HEIR / FIREBENDER
- - - THE PEOPLE'S CHAMPION — [ name ] Being a Professional Bender has its goods and bads, ups and downs. The fans are great, his best friend constantly travels around with him: they skulk the city during the daylight hours, looking for adventure or trouble or some combination of the two. The cons is, well bending outside of a licensed arena was illegal. He may be worldwide champion, but doing what he loved wasn’t something he could naturally and all the time. It was unfortunate, really. However, Nation City does offer a plethora of underground fighting rings and who wouldn’t want to go toe-to-toe with the Dueling Champion? MALE / BENDING DUELIST CHAMPION / EARTHBENDER
- - - THE GUARDIAN — [ name ] She, if she’s being honest, is no stranger to fighting. In her youngest days, she trained and was raised on the ancient Kyoshi Island as a female warrior. They hold no alignment in any conflict (except, according to ancient text, the Avatar) and yet they train for battles they do not involve themselves in unless it happens upon their own doorstep. Whether she agrees with the Kyoshi Law or not—she ends up in Nation City on a minor mission to find one of their own—the Hunter who had gone astray. However, she finds herself cornered in the underground fighting. Kyoshi’s are trained to hold their own against Benders, which is great for this situation. FEMALE / KYOSHI
- - - THE CAREGIVER — [ NILAK IQUALUIT ] She has an inkling to what her friend drags her into, she has been paying enough attention to know that it’ll go sideways once he drags her into illegal activities before they actually do; still she ends up going along with him on the rather sorry adventure, inkling or not. They’ve been friends for a long time—possibly lovers or ex-lovers—and know each like the back of the hands. Where her Champion excels in Bending, she excels in her overall kindness, understanding, and tender nature to anyone. Her heart is in the right place, where she may have her flaws, at least she can be there for her friends and heal their physical and mental wounds. FEMALE / NON-BENDER (OR WATERBENDER HEALER)
- - - THE DEADBOLT — [ ADLARTOK UMIAKTORVIK ] Oft a bit lost in thought, the Deadbolt is more of a quite wandered and never a settler. She’s been everywhere since leaving her home in the Pole and quitting training in her own skills. She’s here for the entertainment and betting than anything else, having traveled her way to Nation City. Is she a fan of the Champion? Does she enjoy the illegal Duels? Who knows, but she’s not a fighter—at least not intentionally so. Her training feels mostly useless—if not at all—as she has no intention to gain her license or use it to Duel. However much a formidable foe she could be. FEMALE / WATERBENDER

THE WISE OLD MAN — [ MASTER SOVRIS TEGA ] He’s a Bending Duelist trainer in Nation City. While he’s very much according to the rules and licensing, a person on his soft side will be able to find themselves using his training building for practice. Also a part of the White Lotus in Nation City, he’s constantly helping with mediation in Nation City and Republic City as a helpful advice and wise elder. He’s suspicious of everything—nothing flies by him easily. He’s constantly on the lookout for three main things: trouble, spiritual signs, and the Avatar. It’s funny how one of his own illegal Airbending Duelists become rather introverted when asked about his own dueling experiences and ‘theoretically’ how do you Firebend. MALE / WHITE LOTUS
- - - THE POLITICIAN — [ GRAY MINETO ] As a man of his word, he’s not. Any politician is a crooked politician, as he would state to those who pledge themselves to him. He’s a Senator of Purva Republic in vacation in Nation City for simple down time, and to talk to the other crooked politicians in the city. However, when word gets out that the mysterious ‘Avatar’ has returned, he’s already in contacts with the Purva military on how it would be essential to have the Avatar on their side should war and fighting break out. He’ll go to any means to simply have the Avatar hear what he has to say and how the war is in favor of Purva and how right they are. Even if it means hiring bounty hunters and criminals to track the young Avatar down. MALE / ANTAGONIST
- - - THE SHADOW — [ name ] They are....a mystery. Not very sure on their own path and never one to approach the main group. Nobody really knows what their intentions are. Simply that when the Avatar goes on a journey, they are following behind three steps behind in her own way. GENDER / FOLLOWING THE GROUP
- - - THE KING — [ name ] A father, and Fire Lord, he’s the man who is in ‘charge’ of the Vesta Republic. Since the first World War and their near fatal demise, Vesta continues to preach for peace between the Republics. However, the Fire Lord recognizes that it cannot happen again, a war where the Avatar destroys and where they aren’t capable of defeating them. He and the Senate continuously bring forth new weapons to the table and have a fear when the Avatar is once again found. MALE / FIRE LORD / FIREBENDER / PEACE-PROMOTER / THE PRINCE'S FATHER
- - - THE HUNTER — [ name ] She’s formerly a Kyoshi gone rogue, she’s on a constant hunt for new thrills. Whether it’s hunting down a species of animal, or a person, she finds it all exhilarating. When a new buyer brings a lot of money to the table to find the Avatar, well, it may seem a bit over her head. However, she drags her friend into the chase. FEMALE / BENDER / HIRED BY AN UNKNOWN BUYER TO FIND THE GROUP
- - - THE MISUNDERSTOOD — [ name ] Also a former Kyoshi, she somehow gets dragged into the mess of the hunt. While her friend is more bloodthirsty, she simply protests and snarks out anyone. Her allegiance is her own, and while she may not be wholly approving of her Huntress friend: she isn’t about to leave her hunter to be hunted. FEMALE / BENDER / DRAGGED ALONG BY HUNTER

BOOK ONE: AVERSION— As of at the moment of the roleplay—besides for a few pre-established relationships—nobody knows anyone personally. They currently haven’t met, and their meeting method is rather unorthodox. In fact it occurs at an underground Dueling Match that all of the main characters conveniently end up at. Who the fighters are? They could be a combination of fighters: the Prince vs. the Avatar; the People’s Champion vs. the Avatar; the People’s Champion vs. the Prince. It’s an interesting match. From there, everyone can converge together in—all eight of them form a team of individuals forcing themselves into the group for their own reasons and their own way.- The Aggressor and the Archer are best friends.
- The People’s Champion and the Caretaker are close.
- The Prince is a public figure and mostly known by everyone on an impersonal level. But he could know the People’s Champion through being public figures, and the Guardian through politics.
- The Deadbolt doesn’t know anyone.
- The Teacher may know the Prince through politics also. However, the Teacher most likely wouldn’t know anyone else.
- The Wise Old Man lets the Aggressor, the Archer, and the People’s Champion use his training dojo. The Prince could also use this.
- The Politician is a familiar face to the Prince and possibly the People’s Champion and Caretaker as Purva residents.
- The Hunter and the Misunderstood formerly trained with the Guardian, the Guardian is currently searching for them but it was put aside with the new Avatar.
- The King is the father to the Prince.
- The Hunter and the Misunderstood are best friends.
- The Shadow….well they are a mystery.

Aversion [uh-vur-zhuh] Obsolete. the act of averting; a turning away or preventing. For alternate definition see: Ezra.
MIDSUMMER MORNING — NATION CITY His morning routine in Nation City doesn’t vary much—the days, inevitably, blend together. Ezra, in hindsight, sometimes can’t recall the day of the week, or the month. He often refers to Emil, his best friend, for those domestic details. As per usual, he crawls out the sheets of his bed and in the bathroom, hunching over the sink while his mother cooks breakfast downstairs, and Ezra brushes his teeth and combs his hair. He’s bare-chested, half-swaddled in the twilight of sleep and blinking away the shining light of the morning. It is a focused, quiet time; one of the few times of day wherein Ezra does not feel the need to fight or argue, but to simply think. In retrospect, perhaps it’s not so surprising that this was one of the few moments where things begin to shift, to turn over, to burn, fly, drown, and push into something else. Truth always seems nearer in the early hours. At some point in this auspicious and unknown morning, Ezra glances in the mirror and finds unknown eyes staring at him, very bright and luminescent and strangely serious in a way he so rarely is.
And, when he blinks, it’s gone and Ezra is looking away from the mirror.
Ezra has finished with his routine, he gathers his dirty clothing into a neat pile in the hamper to the left of the sink, then brushes out the door. His hands fizzle in heat and fire, perhaps by chance. Ezra pauses, he doesn’t move, doesn’t breath. He clenches his fist, and it disappears—but the strange sensation in his mind remains.
It should be nothing, he thinks distantly. Of the multitude of mornings in his nineteen years, he’s unsure why this one was uprooted, to have him wandering down the stairs in single steps and gathering his things. His hands pause as they grip the chair gingerly, almost in fear they might burst into flames in front of his mother, as she looks at him: her eyes narrowed at the redness in his cheeks, a hand on his forehead. “Are you alright Ezra, you look a bit sick.”
“I’m fine,” replies Ezra, without looking up from his plate and the food set forth.
Her eyes are following him from across the table over the rim of her coffee cup. “Okay, but don’t stress yourself today. Have you decided if you’re going to University?”
“I don’t know.” Maybe there’s a bitter edge to his voice; in truth, the words arrive while lost in thought, before any semblance of control can reign them.
He looks up, finally, to find his mother appraising him with one eyebrow raised and that ever-present stubborn frown pulling at the corners of her mouth. Ezra just scowls, standing up to gather his things. His mother doesn’t protest, just stares at her coffee in contemplation and disappointment.
“I’ll be at Tega’s if you need me.”
He shoves his glider in it’s shoulder strap and steps out the door, letting it close with a slam. He wanders out onto the city street of Nation City, it’s in parts that Ezra knows the best. Parts that are probably considered upon with a sneer from upper-officials, if he’s being honest, someone like the politicians and higher-class. But he feels at ease trotting through the familiar streets, greeting the other civilians on his way—the avenues friendly, and his pace easy—if he stopped to enjoy it instead of thinking, then this would be a perfect morning. He might of smiled.
He doesn’t.
Ezra pauses at the edge of an alleyway. It takes another moment to look around, and then peer in the encroaching shadows. The two tall buildings that sandwich the narrow alley is a sign, Dancing Dragons Dojo fees upon inquiry, that extends from the side of the brick building to his right. Ezra can just make out the shape of a cat lazing on the doormat, snoring gently in the cool breeze that ruffles his outfit. He enters the alley to the cat, kneeling down.
“Hey there Pakku,” Ezra coos, stroking the black and white cat who stretches lazily. “Good kitty.”
There is no knocking to alert his entrance, in fact, it almost feels like every time he enters Master Tega is waiting for him. An uncanny sixth sense, he would say with a large grin, but Ezra was wise enough to know not to ask for an explanation.
“You’re early,” Tega mutters, trying for a smile. It’s so lopsided and large at this point that it’s nearly futile.
Ezra’s eyes pans over to the studio, empty of other humans but with a plethora of training equipment. “I know,” Ezra replies. “You know me.”
He drops his bag as Tega hums in acknowledgement, but continues his own work at the desk. Ezra doesn’t pay the fee—he never had to—but instead he simply arrived like many others to work, train, sweat, and bend to the element.
Standing in the middle of the room, Ezra studied his hands carefully. The wrappings around his fingers were thin, but rough. Ezra huffed, a small trail of wind spurting from his nostrils. His face melted into a steady, passive expression as the winds rose and licked the edges of the wood laid out, cutting a clean slice through. Cool gaze, he hopped lightly away to another target, throwing a long whip of wind in it’s direction, another clean cut.
It went on like this for half an hour, before he stabbed angrily at the wall with the forces of the wind—shattering a new hole in the worn bricks of the building. Panting heavily he flopped unceremoniously on the floor.
“Would you like a cup of tea to go with your senseless recklessness and destruction of my property?” Tega inquired, sipping his own from his position in the corner of the dojo.
“No.”
Tega coughed, and folded his arms. “Suit yourself. But save some of the violence for my paying customers.”

Adlartok Umiaktorvik Adlartok was, most definitely, a night owl. She seemed to feel the best when the moon was high above her. She believed that was the best time to do anything, for she always felt like she was closest to Tui and La then. Even now, hundreds of miles from home, she could still picture Tiilaqiia's concerned face, begging her to remember her nightly prayers and offerings. Adla swore she would never forget, and dutifully carried out her ritual right before bed each night, even if she wasn't going to bed until 3 AM (which was most nights).
So, to say she utterly despised mornings, was an understatement.
Rising early was not something Adla preferred to do, but, duty calls. So, she was out of bed at the early hours, the time when most sensible people were asleep. She went to the bathroom and relieved herself, brushed her teeth, and then headed out for her morning run. She returned, showered, and changed into her work clothes, heading out for her daily route delivering orders for Future Industries. It was long, tedious, boring, excruciatingly monotone-but it paid well.
And, spirits knew she needed a paycheck.
After finishing her deliveries, she returned home to get her “betting” bag, and headed out, walking down to what she only knew to be ‘Tega’s’. The local gym for benders was the best place to scope out who she thought would bring her in the most cash each night. She was a smart shopper, and took multiple aspects into consideration before she placed money on them. It was a process that she’d worked down to an almost…science, per say.
She arrived, hesitating outside to stoop down and greet the little black and white cat that frequented the area out front. The cat purred at her, and she smiled, scratching it lightly underneath the chin, before heading inside.
”Good morning Mr. Tega,” she greeted, heading over to the corner where the older man was sitting. She waved at Ezra, recognizing him from the ring, but said nothing. She didn’t trust the man that danced on air, too light on his feet and with a blast that could break skin worse than a cold winter wind like back home. Not yet, anyway. She slid her bag off her shoulder, reaching into it.
”I brought you some more tea. Made this batch myself, just yesterday” she said softly, producing a homemade tea kit. Granted, Adlartok’s job paid well, but Mr. Tega had a business to run. Prices were not cheap. And, since she was determined not to use her bending in front of others, she found other ways to be permitted access. She knew a variety of tea mixtures, and was able to grow the herbs in a small windowsill garden and in pots in her apartment.
”So, who’s goin toe to toe tonight?” she asked, situating herself near the older man, keeping a hand on her bag, and body positioned to dart out the door if the need arose.
She was still a little wary of this city, not quite used to the flow and vibe of it.
[ man, this really sucks i’m sorry : / ]

amias shotosu, the prince.
His day, inauspicious as it seemed at first, started like all the ones before it--that is, in utter chaos. Breakfast was a confused rush of information and noise, as it always was. Even if his meal was literally served to him on a silver platter, on a polished mahogany table, adorned with a fresh selection of seasonal flowers, Amias felt as if he could barely breathe, given all that he had to take in at once. One of the butlers, on his right, droned on in his ear about all the appointments he had in the coming days as he read off every bullet point on the family master calendar; another on his left asked his permission to schedule another interview, another photoshoot, another public appearance--all while the one at his right scratched in the new ones with a pencil. All that noise, with the clattering of dishes, light scrapings of utensils against plates, pattering of footsteps on plush carpets as staff dutifully rushed to and fro, the other conversations going on across the table from him, as well as down the halls, between dishwashers and butlers and maids and cooks--Amias could hear it all. It always overwhelmed him. He used to complain to his teacher that the furious pounding of his heart in his chest that started as a result of all this was no way to start a day, nevertheless nearly every day in his life, but he was told again and again that this was to be his life, and he better get used to it sooner than later.
But he held himself together, like he always did. Nobody had to know how he did it, though; if the nineteen year old was held together by super glue or by wrapping tape and rubber bands. Appearance was the only thing that mattered. Amias listened as attentively as he could to what he was being told, nodded when appropriate, spoke affirmatives and negatives, asked questions when needed, and, when he could, sipped at his morning tea. The rest went by smoothly enough. They got the pressing matters handled, so finally, after some time, the throng of noise and planning left the family of three to eat what remained of their breakfast in uneasy peace.
The three of them barely filled the expanse of table in front of them. Both men, the Fire Lord and his Prince, sat at either end, with the matriarch (who still, even to this day, had no independent title other than the wife of the Fire Lord) situated evenly between them. The space was immense and empty, and cold like a vacuum. Even if these people reared him and walked with him proudly in public, Amias could never quite shake the strangeness of this part of their day.
'The model family,' they were called. The Shotosus were so admirable. Amias always thought it funny in the sad sort of way.
Alastair was always the one to break the silence. "Good morning," he said lowly over his mug--more of a tradition than a genuine greeting at this point--and it spurred a nod from his son and an indecipherable murmur from Lin. An awkward pause followed, then he cleared his throat lightly. "I, ah--Amias. I can't remember, will you be at the military board meeting this afternoon?"
He shook his head across the table, eyes low, mind elsewhere. "No," he told him, "I'm training today. After I write back to some magazines and complete my readings, of course," the brunet quickly added. His father nodded in response, and might have said something about wishing he would come, but Amias wasn't paying attention. Their minds were usually miles apart--this wasn't uncommon in the slightest.
For the first time he could remember in a long time, Amias was somewhat excited for this day; the thrill in interviews and television appearances and talk shows and photoshoots had long faded. No, today was profoundly different than all the others. He had been engaging in a sort of secret discourse--nevermind how it started, mind you--with a woman, a close confidant of one of the most famous professional Benders in the game, for quite some time, and today was the day they agreed to finally meet in person. He was to show up at some hole-in-the-wall dojo in the heart of Nation City as if he was just flexing his own muscles, and casually brush shoulders with her (and the fighter, of course), before attending some match later in the day.
And if all he had to do was make it through another royal breakfast before having what seemed to be a good day--well, he'd gone through much worse before, with less promise after it all. This was nothing. There was a certain lightness in his chest when he bowed to his father and left the table to finish his sort of chores before preparing himself for the rest of it.
- - When the time came, the Firebender could hardly contain his excitement--he was reminded of himself when he was much, much younger, and less tame, at various holiday celebrations, anxiously awaiting gifts and goodies of all kinds. He changed into a simple outfit--mostly dark-colored and fireproof clothes, designed to move vigorously in--packed a duffel bag with a change of clothes, then called his driver on the phone from his room. Before he stepped in the sleek black SUV, he threw on a ball cap and a pair of sunglasses, in some kind of halfhearted attempt to lay low for the time being.
"Where to today, sir?" The driver asked. He had a quiet, rough kind of voice, the kind that belonged to a former smoker, but it held a warmth that made Amias favor him.
Amias pulled a folded letter out of his pocket, then traced the lines with his eyes. "Ah.. The Dancing Dragons Dojo. It's somewhere downtown, I believe," he added. "As in, far downtown." A polite way for saying 'not such a nice area'. He watched the man behind the wheel furrow his brow in the rearview mirror, but after a moment's thought, they were off.
The drive was short enough, given they were already situated in the urban hub of life and vibrancy in Nation City. But the place they pulled up in front of, albeit reluctantly, was exactly what the young man expected, although he couldn't place why exactly he felt crestfallen. The sign of the place was barely visible from the street, after all, as it was tucked deep between two buildings that dwarfed it in comparison, but there was no doubt in his mind that this was the place. He secured his sunglasses before stepping onto the sidewalk.
"I'll be out for some time, I'm sure," he said through the darkened window to the driver, "So don't wait around for me. I have the number--I'll call you when I'm finishing up for the day." He smiled warmly at the darker silhouette through the glass, then waved as he pulled away. Having this much freedom was still somewhat new to him; Amias used to have to clear every trip from the palace with the director of activities, then have it double-checked by his father, who usually delivered a resounding 'absolutely not' to even the most menial activity. Becoming a legal adult was the most liberating thing he'd ever done in his life--and it wasn't even all that remarkable in of itself.
The prince had to remind himself not to slouch his shoulders as he stepped gingerly inside that dojo, looking around half wonderingly, half warily, with hazel eyes as wide as saucers. It then occurred to him, all of the sudden, that he hadn't planned any of the scenarios that could unfold with such an unexpected appearance--but it was far too late to step back outside. Amias cleared his throat, then looked for people. Thankfully, the place was mostly empty, save for two people roughly his age, off doing their own thing, an old man, and--a cat he nearly tripped over as he stepped fully inside.
"My goodness--" He exclaimed in a whisper, nearly jumping. The cat eyed him with some hostility. "My apologies, kitty. Didn't see you there." He felt a slight heat rise to his cheeks. This is not beginning well at all. He swallowed; it didn't go down his throat smoothly.
Assuming the old man at a desk was the owner of the place, Amias decided the best course of action would be to pay his respects. He left his bag in an empty space near the front door, under a bench, then approached him with an easy smile and a sparkle in his eye, as if the earlier stumble never even happened. A true master of disguise.
"Afternoon, sir," he began politely, cordially, offering his hand to shake. They loved when he addressed them with respect, with dignity, when they really ought to be the ones losing their minds over being suddenly face to face with Fire Royalty. "What is your hourly rate to train, may I ask? I was looking to work out for no more than a couple hours, then use a shower, if that's not too much trouble for you."
