Feel free to jump in wherever (:
Katarina was walking through the forest, her pale fingers trailing across the green leaves of the bushes she passed. It had been a long day at work, and now she was craving the feel of something living. After dealing with the dead for hours at a time, the young necromancer was often left feeling drained and well...dead. Walking through the living undergrowth of the forest revived her a little, the bushes and trees giving her something within the human realm to connect to. She'd had more customers than usual today, and the fabric bag slung over one shoulder was heavier than normal with gold pieces. In Katarina's mind, she charged fairly for her services, but for a poor villager, it could be considered a small fortune. That was why she had to travel around to make a living. People could only afford to pay her for so long before they had nothing left, and now it was almost time to leave this little village as well. With a sigh, Katarina stopped in a small patch of the dying light, turning her face towards the last remnants of the sun.

a pair of brothers also wandered through the woods, though their intent wasn't quite as passive as Katarina's were. One had raven black hair that fell to his shoulders, and into his emerald green eyes, and he was carrying a bow and quiver of arrows, actively looking for a food source in the woods. He turned to the blonde behind him, and tilted his head to the side. "Sense anything yet? Usually you are better at it than I am." "Not yet, Lupin, I told you I would say something when I sensed something near us...so far its only plants, and song birds." The blonde's voice was soft, gentler than his brother's and he pulled back the hood of his white cloak, revealing a pretty face, and crystal blue eyes, but they were tired, and he had slightly dark rings around them, lending a look of exhaustion to the pretty features. His blonde hair fell to his shoulders just as his brother's did, and had it not been for the color of their hair and eyes, they would be identical. Both were lightly built, and lithe, there was obvious strength in their bodies. However, the blonde seemed to be waning more than his brother was, he was a bit leaner, a bit more libel to sway with a gust of wind. "You need food, Its been far too long...I knew it was a bad Idea to leave our other town." Lupin sighed softly "We hadn't had time to prepare, did you even eat before we left, Rael?" Rael shook his head softly, and swallowed "There was no time...they where about the end us there..and I wasn't going to let them get you, because of me. We had to leave when we did, and You needed what little we had, more than I did. I am fine..." He swayed softly, and leaned against a tree, very obviously not fine, but pushing through it anyway, before looking in a different direction, the Direction of Katarina "There's something else in these woods...its not an animal, I don't think...so don't shoot until its clearer."

In Katarina's already tired state, it would have been unlikely that she would have heard the two other people in the woods. It just so happened that a light gust of wind had made the soft sound of their voices travel towards her. Although it had been only slight, the young necromancer stiffened slightly at the sound. She wasn't totally sure as to what it was that she had heard, her slightly foggy brain trying to work it out before she reacted. However, it didn't seem to want to give her any help, and so Katarina turned towards the direction she thought she'd heard the sound from, thanking and cursing the foilage that blocked a clear view at the same time. Chances were it was just an animal. Maybe a stray cat or dog from the village. She hoped that that was all that it was, anyway. If it was another threat, a much more real and dangerous one, she could be in for more trouble than she could handle at the present time. Although she was young, Katarina did possess a fair amount of power, however, being inexperienced meant that she tired quickly. It didn't help that this particular town hadn't seen death in a long time, well, by her books anyway. The shorter the amount of time the spirit had been dead, the easier it was to channel them, as it was more likely they were still hanging around the area. It was in towns such as these, when she was forced to call on the spirits of long gone ancestors and loved ones that were the hardest for her. With a slight frown, concerned about the fact that she hadn't seen any movement from the bushes to indicate an animal, Katarina took a few steps towards the sound she had heard, one hand clutching the bag that contained her days earnings and the other reaching for the crude dagger she carried. It truly wasn't much of a weapon, and she wasn't all that confident in using it, but there were no restless spirits here she could channel easily to help her.

As the force of life grew closer, Rael was better able to see what exactly it was, despite the foliage, and just as he had been about to breath a sigh of relief. However Lupin caught sight of movement, and notched his bow, aiming, his fingers reacting on their own, always having had a trigger finger, or rather, a habit for letting loose an arrow too soon, and was just about to shoot, when Rael reacted, quicker than should have been possible given his circumstances, and kicked the bow up, throwing the arrow off its course, so it struck much to the left of the poor girl. "No! don't!" He looked to his brother "Its a person, I told you not to shoot until I said so!" He looked to the approaching Katarina, and gave a sigh of in relief, she was unharmed. or so it looked to Rael anyway. "Whoops...Sorry..." Lupin blinked, looking to his brother sheepishly "I saw movement...and I guess I just..." "Almost killed a person, is what you did." Rael snapped. "are you trying to send me to the grave early? next time, keep your bow away until you clearly see the target." "Hey, if it had been a deer, we could be feasting right now, and you wouldn't be complaining!"

{{ nah that's fine and nice to meet you Solstice (: }}
In her current state, Katarina's reflexes were rather slow to what they would normally be and so as she registered the prescence of the two males suddenly in front of her, it was only until after the arrow had flown from the bow and hit a tree way to the left of her, did she even realise the danger that she was in. Mentally cursing herself for her slow realisation of the imminent threat she had been in, her nerves suddenly calmed a bit too much to be considered safe as the two began to bicker. Putting her dagger away, but keeping a light hand on it, Katarina leant lightly against a nearby tree, her blue eyes flicking back and forth between the two people she had stumbled across. As they bickered, she couldn't help but let out a small outburst of laughter, which she quickly smothered, as the one with the blond hair mentioned being sent to the grave early.
Now that was a problem she could fix.
Not that she was sure she wanted these people to know that just yet. It had been on more than one occassion that she had been run out of a town because of her abilities. It was a gamble with every new person that she came across, whether or not they would welcome her or hunt her down. "I hope you don't plan on trying to shoot me again. I feel like that would be a rather unfortunate way to end an already rough day." She said softly, with a small smile. It was best to play nice first, she figured, especially considering the state she was in.

Rael looked to the girl, and relaxed as she laughed at Lupin and himself, at least she didn't seem angry or defensive after being shot at. Which all in all was an oddity, but one Rael was willing to let slide for the time being. He wouldn't complain about her not wanting to retaliate in anger toward his brother and himself. He couldn't afford a fight right now anyway, Lupin probably could, but Rael himself, probably not. So it was a positive thing this person didn't seem to be looking for a fight. "My apologies, Miss. It hadn't really been our intention to shoot at you in the first place. Isn't that right Lupin?" He looked to his brother, whilst still leaning against the tree. He had been exaggerating about the grave when talking with his brother before, but the excitement and quickness of his reflexes when needed was catching up to him. If he had to spend quick energy like that again, before they had gotten rest and food,he wasn't to sure he'd be able to get much further. For now he was fine with a slight breather though. He worked on regulating his heart beat, and calming his body back down, so it wasn't expending so much energy, his flight or fight reflex waning, as the situation calmed.
Lupin kicked at a rock with his boot slightly, a bit like a scolded child "yeah, yeah, my apologies. I thought you might be a deer or something. Got a little quick on the string I suppose." He looked to her and gave a faint smile "not really like we could eat you anyway, so guess there's no reason to shoot again." As far as Lupin could tell, this girl didn't really seem to be much of a threat, so he figured there was no reason not to play nicely, well as nice as he got with strangers anyway. Rael was generally the more friendly of the two of them, though Lupin knew some of the time, Rael's genuity was questionable. Whereas Lupin, never attempted to be nice, if he didn't see fit too in the first place. He didn't hide it like Rael did when he didn't like someone. He was much more upfront about it, so while the blonde was considered nicer, it was really Lupin who was more honest in his feelings.

Katarina nodded as the blond one apologised again. He seemed genuine enough, and she honestly did believe that they hadn't meant to shoot at her. At the slight chiding of the blond to the other one, who's name appeared to be Lupin, something clicked in Katarina's mind and she began to think that these two men were brothers, or had at least known each other for a very long time. A slight wistfullness entered Katarina's mind as she thought of a time seemingly long ago, when she'd actually been able to forge deep connections with people. Now that she was using her skills as a job, she never seemed to be able to stay in one spot for long enough to get to know anyone in depth, and even if she could, they didn't seem to want to get attached to her. Dealing with the dead was a superstitous past time not many wanted to deal with.
"A deer hey?" She mused, repeating Lupin's words softly, that small smile still on her face. "I'm glad we agree on that point." She added with slight mock horror, referring to the point that it wasn't like they could eat her anyway. And then, as her mind was forced to work more and more, she began to put a few things together. These two brothers were travelling, just like herself, and if they were hunting for deer, they'd be in need of food. Eyes scanning the blond now, she noticed he was leaning against a tree, much the same as she was. "Name's Katarina," she said lightly, eyes flicking to Lupin once more, "and to say thanks for not shooting me, how bout I repay the favour by getting you two a meal?" she offered. It wasn't something that she'd normally do, oh no, she had a hard enough time providing for herself. But this time was different. These two seemed to be more like her then anyone she'd met in a while, and besides, it seemed like they needed a good meal, and the stew at the tavern in town was cheap.

Lucia’s fingers twitched now and again, itching to indulge in her so-called “dark magic” again. The fire summoner - or witch as the village folk called it - felt her power grow with each use, and become more intoxicating every time. Her deep red cloak told of money, but to tell the truth, she had nothing now. All she had was her bitterness and desire for revenge. One day, Lucia would make them - her parents and the townspeople - make them pay and burn all of them til their skin was blackened and the light in their eyes were gone. She snorted at how naive she seemed - what was it, two weeks ago, three? It didn’t matter now.
She stumbled upon a clearing, and observed two males - they looked similar - and a woman. They seemed safe enough, but Lucia took out her trusty dagger and balanced it on the base of her palm. “Hello,” she smiled softly, exuding an air of innocence and gentleness. Her lightly freckled skin and pale auburn hair helped with the effect. But her eyes were a different story. Their amber depths sparkled with dark knowledge and power. “Mind if I join the party?” she smirked lightly, her eyes flickering around the trio. Boys in the village used to call her a natural beauty almost like a doe, but since she had started experimenting with the uses of magic, they had changed their observation to fiercely striking more like a tiger.

((Hey everyone, sorry, I meant to get on sooner, but with the holidays and everything, I didn't quite get too it, that being said: Happy Holidays, and Merry belated Christmas to you all.))
Rael's eyes widened, looking to Katarina, surprised, and delighted by the offer. "That is awful kind of you miss, considering the whole incident of shooting you was nearly a reality. My brother and I would be delighted to accept your invitation to dine." He felt a sense of relief at the prospect of food, since he and Lupin had had no luck tracking down a meal for themselves, despite their best efforts too. Deny it as he might, Rael was starving and in need of a warm meal. He looked to Lupin half expecting the other to deny the invitation, as of the two of them, Lupin really was the more stubborn, and prideful of the two of them, he didn't generally readily accept help from others, and hardly help from Rael himself. so it would be interesting to see how he took the offer. Rael really hoped he wouldn't put up a struggle, because he didn't have much left in him for fighting the seemingly endless stubborn streak.
Lupin looked to his brother, and then to Katarina, half wanting to deny the help, sure that he could find a deer, or a boar or something else if he were given more time, however, looking back to Rael, it didn't seem ample time was something they had. He also felt a bit guilty, being that he'd eaten more recently than Rael had. He ran a hand through his hair and down the back of his neck, swallowing his pride for his brother's sake. "Yeah, that'd be much appreciated." He nodded in agreement to Rael, and smiled at Katarina. "Thank You Miss, Katarina." He looked to Rael and chuckled softly, "I suppose we should probably introduce ourselves, huh? We haven't done that yet? I mean you probably guessed, but my name is Lupin, and over there is-" "Rael" The blonde chuckled softly, cutting his brother off, "Honestly, Lupin, I can introduce myself to the lady." He gave a warm smile to Katarina, but he tilted his head shortly after sensing someone else approaching them and then looked over to Lucia when she walked up to the group. "Hello Miss."

{{ oml so sorry! completely forgot about this ">.< }}
Katarina nodded with a smile as Rael accepted her invitation. She hoped that they would be able to help each other out in a way, not that she would mention that right now. But maybe she wouldn't have to run away from towns with the people chasing after her so often if she refined her act a little. Having these two to help her with that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Her eyes flicked to Lupin when Rael's did, half wondering if the other one would decline her offer. She hoped that he wouldn't. But as he agreed, and thanked her as well, her smile grew - just a little bit. She nodded as they introduced themselves as well, grinning as Rael cut Lupin off to introduce himself. Yes, she thought, these two were definately brothers.
"Well, Rael and Lupin, it's a pleasure to meet you." She was about to suggest that they had back to the town, but then a new voice was greeting them. She studied the girl with distrust in her eyes. There seemed to be something...strange about her. "Hello." Katarina greeted, just after Rael, nodding her head at the girl, but making no move to answer her question about joining the party. Katarina was unsure as to how long this woman had been watching and listening to them, and she didn't like the thought that she'd been there for a while. Sure nothing incriminating had been said, but you never knew what people's true intentions were.

(lol that is okay)
Rael nodded in agreement to Katarina's sentiment "Its a pleasure to meet you as well." He nodded looking to the new girl, waiting for something to happen. He didn't think she had been there for too long, as he'd not sensed her beforehand, when they had been talking with Katarina, and he was usually quite good about sensing others, it was easy to feel larger life forces, so sensing a human size one shouldn't have gone undetected, unless she knew cloaking magic, which not many people that he knew of did.
Lupin re-quivered his arrow, and moved his bow so that it was hanging on his shoulder, a bit unnerved by this new person, the less sociable of the brothers, it had been a challenge to even meet one new person today, despite the fact that he had shot toward her, and it should have been easy, being that he needed to apologize. He sighed softly, and tilted his head, to the new person.

Lucia observed them all quietly, her doe-brown eyes taking in everything. The girl seemed to be distrustful - she was right to be wary - and the two men seemed to be pleasant enough. What could she say to garner their pity? Maybe the truth, or half of it anyway. “I was cast out from my village, all because I was practicing light magic,” she said bitterly. “Now I have nowhere to go, except onward,” she looked up from her reverie at them. “So may I travel with you? I promise you I do not wish you ill will.” She vowed honestly enough.

"I wouldn't say that we are necessarily traveling together as it is. We met by accident." Lupin said, looking to Katarina and Rael "But if you wanted to accompany us to town, I don't really see a reason why not." he shrugged softly, leaving it up to either Rael or Katarina to raise an objection if there was one, honestly he was ready to just get going, before his brother fainted, or something. The sooner they got some food in them, the better off they would be.
Rael nodded softly in agreement. Leaning a bit more on the tree, starting to feel a bit faint, actually, and pulls the hood of his cloak up, sighing softly. "we should probably get going, if we are gonna make it to town before nightfall...by my reckoning it is still a ways, right?"

{{ sure spiritbound ! If you still want to that is XD I'll just do a little skip to when they get into town. }}
Katarina had led the way back into town. Rael had been right when he had said that it was still a way from where they had been. Katarina preferred to sleep as far away as possible from her place of work. Partially because the spirits sometimes lingered and because, no matter how trusting the villagers may seem, as soon as she could offer them no more, they could turn on her in an instant. Thankfully that hadn't happened in some time, but it always paid off to play it safe.
"In here." She muttered, opening the door to the local inn that also served as a tavern. She held the door for the four person group that had somehow formed, and then selected a table as close to the fire as she possibly could. Even though her walk through the forest had revived her a little, she could still feel the clutches of the spirits on her, as if they were cobwebs that she couldn't seem to brush off. It didn't help that she'd called upon a spirit that had once resided in the tavern earlier that day either. Seating herself so that her back was being warmed by the flames, she settled in, eyes scanning the new troupe.
