🎅 So, how does the game work? 🎅
In each 'forum mafia game', there are two phases: Day and Night.
🌞 Day:
During the day, townsfolk (and town imposters), must clue together deserves presents and who deserves coal- and how they will enforce justice.
Should the town firmly believe they know who is the naughty elves of the north pole (or would rather pick at random and risk losing a fellow townmember), they may take their chances and vote to toss coal to a single player. If that player gets enough votes of ~ coal ~, they will be eliminated from the game (or in a normal round, 'be hung').
Once said player is eliminated, their role and will will be revealed. If they have a lover, they will die the following day from grief, their role and will revealed as well.
If a person is eliminated, it will roll to Night. If no one is eliminated before time runs out in the Day phase, it will go to night regardless.
🌚 Night:
During the night, the juicy stuff happens.
All members of the Arctic cuddle up near their fires and decide what actions to take as the moon passes. Evil members of the North Pole such as Santa Claus may chose one person to give coal (aka kill) each night. Hplodur may distract another person that's *not* in the North Pole, keeping them from performing any tasks.
A town role such as Dasher may choose to heal a person, so if they get attacked in the night you heal them.
Night is more risky for town, because while North Pole members know who their teammates are, the town is left blind. Who will you trust? Who will you act upon?
The chances are infinite.
🎄 Roles 🎄
What are the different roles you can play, you ask? Why, I'm here to tell you.
Depending on how many players we get, we will be playing a role list that will be announced at a later date.
THE NORTH POLE:
These roles oppose the town, and are known in normal games as the Mafia.
Santa Claus (Godfather) - Mafia Killing
You are the leader of the North Pole. You may give coal (kill) to one person each night that is not a member of the North Pole. If Mrs. Claus (Mafioso) is alive, they will carry out your coalgiving for you. If there is no Mrs. Claus, you will carry out the coalgiving yourself. You have the ability to write a Naughty List (Death Note), but your Naughty List will only appear if you are the one to carry out the coalgiving. You will be informed if your target was immune, but only if you carry out the coalgiving.
If you wish not to kill anyone, Mrs. Claus' choice will go through.
You are immune to night attacks. Anyone who attacks you will receive the message that you were immune. You will receive a message that you were attacked.
You will appear as 'Not Suspicious' if you are investigated by Ralphie.
You can communicate with your allies at night in the North Pole as long as they are alive.
Your role is unique. There can only be 1 Santa Claus at a time.
Mrs. Claus (Mafioso) - Mafia Killing
You are Santa Claus' second-in-command and wife. Loyalty to your husband comes first and that loyalty comes with a great reward: you will one day take your husbands place.
You can vote to 'give coal' to one person each night that is not a member of the North Pole, however Santa Claus' choice has priority over yours and you will deliever coal to whoever your husband designates. If Santa Claus does not vote to give coal to anyone, then you will give coal to your own target instead. You have the ability to write a Naughty List. You will be informed if your target was immune.
You will become Santa Claus should the he die. In that case, refer to the Santa Claus role card instead.
You can communicate with your allies at night in the North Pole as long as they are alive.
Your role is unique. There can only be 1 Mrs. Claus at a time.
Hplodur (Consort) - Mafia Support
Beautiful and alluring and sporting a glowing red nose, you use your amusing traits to distract the Town for the rest of the North Pole.
You can roleblock one person each night. This prevents them from fulfilling their night action. Your target will be notified that they were roleblocked.
You cannot be roleblocked.
You might become Mrs. Claus if both Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus are dead. In that case, refer to the Mrs. Claus role card instead.
You can communicate with your allies at night in the North Pole as long as they are alive.
If you roleblock Frosty the Snowman, they will throw coal at you and you will be informed as such.
Eihplar (Consigliere) - Mafia Investigative
Embittered by the fact that Ralphie- a fellow investigator- got all of the attention from the town, you now serve the North Pole after having honed your interrogation skills.
You can investigate one person each night. If your action goes through, you will learn your target's role.
You might become Mrs. Claus if both Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus are dead. In that case, refer to the Mrs. Claus role card instead.
You can communicate with your alli
THE TOWN:
These roles oppose the Mafia and (certain) Neutrals. They hold the same name as their original counterparts.es at night in the North Pole as long as they are alive.
Father Christmas (Jailor) - Town Power
You are responsible for taking care of the town’s criminals, using your jail to keep order in the town.
Each night you can jail one person and choose to give them a hot coal them (excluding yourself). You only have 3 hot coals.
If you give a hot coal a townsperson, all of your remaining hot coals lose their flame.
You must choose a person to jail during the day by messaging the host in your one-on-one chat. If you fail to message the host before the end of the day phase, you will not jail anyone!
In jail, you can communicate anonymously with your prisoner by contacting the host through your Jail Chat. In turn, the host will message your prisoner’s defense. The prisoner will have a 1000-character limit overall to speak to you each night. After the limit is reached, they cannot speak any more to you. Both players will be informed if the limit is reached.
Jailed targets cannot perform their night ability no matter what and are considered roleblocked, even if they are roleblock immune otherwise.
Jailed targets gain immunity from all night actions (witched, roleblocked, attacked, investigated).
You cannot give coalson the first night, as they are still warming.
Hot coals eliminate everyone, no matter their immunity.
If you jail and do not give a hot coal to Frosty the Snowman, you will be attacked by them.
You/your prisoner cannot be tracked by the Elf on the Shelf.
(Jailed members of the North Pole are not allowed to communicate in the North Pole chat, but they still see it. The other members of the North Pole will be told if one of their own is jailed).
Your role is unique. There can only be 1 Father Christmas at a time.
Dancer (Retributionist) - Town Power
Dancing on the graves of the fallen, you've learned their secrets, and one of the most important things- how to bring them back.
You can choose one person to resurrect from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, as long as they are a member of the Town. You can ONLY resurrect one person, so be careful who you choose.
Your role is unique. There can only be 1 Dancer at a time.
Comet (Medium) - Town Support
One with the stars, you can read signs and talk to the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
Each night, you can choose one person from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to speak with. All conversation will be relayed via host through 'seance' chats, so Comet's identity will be unknown to the fallen they choose to seance.
The only rule in this conversation is not to discuss your identity, or the identities of other Comets.
The conversation ends with the Night Phase, so the Comet must inform the host when they are ready for the Day Phase if they wish to end the night early. We will not assume a conversation is done until a Comet tells us.
You can also choose not to seance if you prefer. If this happens, you will not seance anyone at all that night.
Once you die, you can choose to seance someone alive during the Day Phase and will then talk with them during the proceeding Night Phase. The chat will follow the same structure as a live seance, therefore the conversation will be held through the host. It is best to save this seance for someone you trust, as you only have one seance post-death.
Rudolph (Escort) - Town Support
Rivaling Hplodur in beauty and brightness, you use your nose to distract people for the Town.
You can roleblock one person each night. This prevents them from fulfilling their night action. Your target will be notified that they were roleblocked.
You cannot be roleblocked.
Choose carefully: While Hplodur knows her teammates, you don't know yours. You may be roleblocking a townperson!
If you roleblock Frosty the Snowman, they will give you coal and you and you will be informed as such.
Elf on the Shelf (Lookout) - Town Investigative
You use your stealth (and slight insomnia) to your advantage, stalking people at night for a noble cause: you watch out for the town while they sleep.
You can watch one person each night (excluding yourself). You will see the names of anyone that chooses to visit your target that night (if anyone visits at all).
You cannot find Father Christmas, thus even if you watch someone who is jailed, you will not see them being visited by anyone (because all night actions fail on a jailed target).
You cannot find ethereal happenings. For example, if a fallen Comet seances your target, you will not see the fallen Comet visiting them. Similarly, you will not see a fallen Vixen's haunting.
Ralphie (Sheriff) - Town Investigative
You are the sheriff of the town, and will use your skills to investigate the North Pole.
You can investigate one person each night (excluding yourself). You will be informed if they are 'Not Suspicious' or a member of the North Pole.
Santa Claus, however, will appear innocent to you.
Donner (Investigator) - Town Investigative
Donner, brightest of the town, works to sniff out what occupation a townmember holds by keeping a close eye on their belongings.
However, smart as they may be, Donner can never seem to be exactly positive...
Each night, you may choose to seach through a players belongings. This will give you a clue as to what role they hold, and present you with three role possibilites- only one of which is correct.
Cupid (Doctor) - Town Protective
You love your fellow townmembers, and will do anything to keep them alive through the willpower of l o v e.
You can heal one person each night. If they are given coal, they will not die.
If your target is given coal, you will be informed that you have saved them and they will be informed that they were healed by Cupid's Love.
You have the ability to heal yourself only once. The night you choose to use this ability, you will lose it afterwards even if you were not attacked.
Prancer (Bodyguard) - Town Protective
You are a trained and professional guard-reindeer that now uses your scary face to protect others from the North Pole.
You can guard one person each night. If they are given coal, both you and the coalgiver will fall in their place.
Your counterattack goes through night immunity.
Your target will be informed that someone fought off their coalgiver. You will be informed that you scared someone successfully. The coalgiver will be informed that Prancer gave back their coal.
You have the ability to use a scary face to protect yourself once. The night you use this ability, you will lose it regardless of if you were attacked or not. Whoever attacks you that night will be informed that you were night immune.
If your target is given coal by multiple people, you will only make a scary face (eye contact is nesecarry for a proper scare) at one person and you can only guard them from one coal so they will still die unless Cupid heals them, or another Prancer guards the target. The order of importance in bodyguard target is: Neutral Killing > North Pole > Blitzen/Retired Blitzer.
Blitzen (Vigilante) - Town Killing
Young and eager to bring the town to justice- and make Retired Blitzer, his grandfather, proud-, this reindeer takes fate into it's own hooves.
You can give coal to one person you think is guilty each night, but you are limited to 3 coals.
You will be informed if your target is immune, and it will use up one of your coals.
You have the ability to leave a Death Note when you choose to give coal to someone.
You cannot give coal to anyone on Night 1.
If you give coal to someone from the Town faction, you will be so overridden with guilt that you will lose your remaining coals and die the next night.
Choose carefully: if you give coal to a Townperson, you will both die. You can also be killed by Prancer and the Retired Blitzer.
Retired Blitzer (Veteran) - Town Killing
A former sleigh driver, you have returned to a town of chaos. Paranoid and on awares, you have taken up hot coals to protect yourself.
You can choose to go on alert each night, but you are limited to 3 alerts. You will give coal to everyone who visits you while you are on alert, bypassing night immunity.
While on alert, you are immune to harmful night actions such as being given coal.
You are immune to being roleblocked while on alert.
You have the ability to leave a Death Note if you kill someone while on alert.
Choose carefully: You have great power with this ability, but you can cost the Town greatly if you alert poorly.
Your role is unique. There can only be 1 Retired Blitzer at a time.
NEUTRAL FACTION:
These roles don't exactly fit into either of the first factions; they have their own set of goals and different win possibilities.
Frosty the Snowman (Serial Killer) - Neutral Killing
An evil and insane snowman, angered by the reincarnation that your magical hat always brings you, you've decided to take revenge on the members of the Town and *North Pole, regardless of their faction.
Each night you may deliever a piece of coal to a single person, thus killing them. You will not go through night immunity. You have the ability to write a Naughty List.
If you are roleblocked by Rudolph or Hplodur, you will give them coal on their way out.
If you are jailed by Father Christmas and he does not execute you, you will give him coal as well.
Vixen (Jester) - Neutral Evil
Deeply upset by the tragedy that's been going on in the town, you've gone insane and wish nothing more than to be given coal during the day phase.
You perform no night action, yet win by being lynched in the day phase.
You must trick the town into voting you off by any means nescesarry.
If you are killed in the night, you automatically lose.
If you are sucsessfully killed during the day phase, the you can choose a single town member who voted to kill you to give a ghostly coal. That town member will be overridden with guild for lynching you, and will die no matter (even if Cupid heals them or Prancer guards them) what because of it.
Grinch (Executioner) - Neutral Evil
You've been embittered by a town member and wish to take their 'christmas joy' away.
You must do whatever nescesarry to get your Cindy Lou Who (aka target) lynched in the day. You only win by getting Cindy Lou Who lynched during the day phase. If they survive to win, even if you're both alive, you lose. If Cindy Lou Who dies in the night phase, you get driven insane and become a Vixen. In that case, refer to the Vixen role card.
🎄 Frequently Asked Questions 🎄
WHAT IS A NAUGHTY LIST/WILL?
-Well, to shorten it up, it's a note you can leave when you die.
Every player may leave a Last Will for their fellow town (or members of the North Pole) to read. Under most cases, Last Will's were used for a townsperson to point out suspicions, leave a list of the night actions you performed, and/or share whispers.
In case of non-town... Well, it's mostly used to leave joking things, such as a link to Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. This is because a majority of the time a non-town member either works alone, or doesn't want to give away who their fellow mafia were. As you could expect, leaving a list of all the people you checked as a consigliere could make it easy to look for the people you DIDN'T search, and find your fellow mafia.
Not only that, but most important information could be shared via mafia chat either way.
As for Naughty Lists (aka Death Notes, in non-christmas terms), whenever you kill a player, that 'note' will be shared with the town the following day. Ex: if a mafioso attacks a townsmen and leaves a death note of 'boo', when we announce the player dead the following day phase we'll also say something along the lines of, 'We found a death note (naughty list) near the corpse. It reads, 'boo''. etc etc.
Again, while this is for jokes a majority of the time, it can be used to display important messages for the town. If a mafioso wants to provide the info that they ran into the serial killer as they had a night immunity and couldn't be killed without outing themself, they could leave a death note on the next person they kill notifing the town that so-and-so had night immunity and that they should be lynched asap. (This would be allowed, seeing as a Serial Killer is a threat to the Mafia as well.)
HOW LONG IS A DAY/NIGHT IN-GAME?
-Generally the day phase, as they are more important in the classic game of Mafia for the town, will be about 96 hours (4 days) when a majority of members are b u s y. This can be changed by either voting to end the day early, or lynching someone. Around Christmas it's not unusual for people to have lives outside discord, so giving an extended time allows for leway.
The following nights will last about 72 hours (3 days), unless all night actions are sent in early. In which case, they will be ended early as well.
Should people be more active than I anticipate, days may shorten to 48 hours and nights to 24.
The first day and night in the day will be significantly shorter than the rest regardless (24 & 12, or if it needs to be extended 48 & 24), as there is not much to do the first day and night around.

HOW DO I JOIN?
