Yes, it's kind of a strange idea, but trust me it makes sense.
So, I've wanted to do a crow rp for a super long time because crows are super cool, but birds are kind of weird to rp and I haven't really had a good idea until now, besides just, ya know, crows flying around and doing crow things. Which is kinda still what's going on, but they're doing crow things in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. And are also hyper-intelligent (at least compared to real crows). Allow me to explain.
Currently I'm thinking the roleplay would take place possibly 50 or so years after the collapse of human civilization due to a disease which either just killed most/all of them off, or possibly turned them into zombies (either could be equally interesting). However, the virus didn't only affect humans: it affected plants and animals as well. It destroyed some species almost entirely (killing or zombifying them), left some mostly unaffected, and changed others in subtle ways. In the case of crows and a few other species, it made them more intelligent (among other mutations, but this is the one we'll focus on for now). Each new generation is slightly more intelligent than the last, with the last few generations having attained human-like sentience. It doesn't hurt that crows are very intelligent animals to begin with, but they are now capable of forming an actual language, and thus more structured and complex societies and learning. They are able to craft rudimentary structures, tools, jewelry, and other objects from materials found in nature or salvaged from human ruins.
However, they're not the only ones. Other animals: cats, raccoons, a few other bird species, and possibly a few more, are also made more intelligent by the disease. This makes them far more cunning and dangerous enemies, on top of the dangers presented by the environment itself (for example, more dangerous plants, potential radiation from nuclear meltdowns and similar situations, and possibly zombies). Thus, the roleplay would mostly focus on the crows' day to day survival, as well as their slow development of what could be ultimately be called a "civilization."
As for setting, I'm currently thinking that the flock (what I'm choosing to, at least temporarily, call the group) would live in the wilderness, with some kind of town or city nearby. They would mostly stay in the wilderness, but would occasionally travel to the city to salvage for supplies that they can use for tools and jewelry, or to reinforce their nests. Likely, it wouldn't be anything extremely complex- so for example, they wouldn't be able to build very sturdy tree houses or anything. But things like rudimentary platforms, walls, and roofing worked into the trees, maybe a few simple traps, and that sort of thing. Same with their jewelry; nothing fancy, but maybe bracelets or necklaces made out of woven plants, or pieces of string or wire, or old rings, etc. etc. They could possibly also have simple paint as well (made from berries and the like, or perhaps salvaged from humans, or a mixture of both) which are used to decorate dwellings, create markings, and possibly used as a form of body paint/make up either ceremonially or just for the aesthetics. The crows would also be somewhat mutated, even past their intelligence; most likely in the forms of different eye colors or markings (likely just leucism/albinism, either full-body or just in certain areas), and possibly also slightly increased size.
So all in all, I know it's a weird idea but hopefully that's part of what makes it interesting. Would anyone be at all interested in something like this?
