whats up with that guy
was anyone else expecting him to like, turn against the skyclan cats at one point during their journey together. idk it was a bit suspicious that he was one of the #1 skyclan haterz and then all of a sudden he wants to help them find even more cats to bring to the lake. even alderheart was like wait a minute thats not right.
its not even that i thought he'd turn evil, i just thought they'd get to the gorge and he'd be like 'look at how great this place is, dont you wanna stay? please stay. stay here please for the love of god' but then he becomes best friends with all of them. it was kinda sweet but i was expecting some sort of drama with that
although it would have been a neat plot point if molewhisker and cherryfall both went with the intention of trying to convince them to stay at the gorge but coming to love their new friends and learning that hey maybe these strangers arent so bad after all. bonus if sparkpelt went too

Molewhisker seems to be a complex character, emotion and decision wise.
And I love him for this.
He's not a decisive and purely noble cat. He doesn't do all that is good like most of the protagonists do. He's on and off about Skyclan in the later books as well, but it just means he's still deciding if he believes these cats belong at the lake or not, which also depends on future experiences. This is a realistic moment of deciding something because it sounds good or bad, and then changing your mind later on.

He came off as a more diluted clone of Berrynose tbh... to be fair alot of kits are coming off as clones of their parents, and I think Molewhisker is far more reserved and indecisive than Berrynose. There's a difference between them, at least I noticed it. And clearly if Mole's mentored cats and Berry hasn't, there has to be a difference haha

I like it, though. It adds to his character, and hopefully he'll be more friendly (or at least tolerant) of SkyClan now that he's gotten to know them better. Also, I don't know why, but for some reason I'm kind of expecting him to be in a forbidden relationship with a SkyClan cat at some point. Maybe Blossomheart or Frecklewish (I know she's a medicine cat, but that certainly didn't stop Yellowfang or Leafpool).

Lol Runningwind died before we got a chance to even decide if his character is worth saving or not. If Molewhisker and Berrynose are apparently so similar, why has Molewhisker had two apprentices and Berrynose has had none? I personally, and this is my opinion, think Berrynose has been more than ready, and if he'd been given a chance by now, maybe he wouldn't still have so much immaturity. Here's to hoping for Finpaw Berrynose mentorship *crosses fingers*

I think both did fine lol. Not all mentors are noble and perfect. Sometimes a more rough mentor/teacher is actually a better teacher. At least that's been the case for me. It would be incredibly boring if the same cats keep getting apprentices while the other rougher cats don't get a chance. And Molewhisker and Cherryfall were both perfectly fine mentors when I read the books. No different from Mousefur, Spiderleg, Cloudtail ect.
But, this is also a matter of perspective and probably won't change either of our minds, so agree to disagree lol
