cross' character: Shiloh Adler -- 28 yrs old -- son of Nemesis there's nothing particularly imposing about him - 5'2'' or thereabouts, a climber's build with long legs and hidden muscle; he's a little babyfaced in the way he looks a little younger than he actually is, but it's nothing too drastic. his canine teeth are a little sharper than average, often poking against his lower lip when he smiles, and there's something fairly eerie about him as a whole. it's not that he's unnerving - if anything, he's actually rather attractive with a slender face with a fairly sharp jawline, his small nose, his keen almond-shaped eyes. perhaps it's the way he stares unblinking, perhaps it's because of his always-smiling way; either way, shiloh tends to rub others the wrong way. his hair, a mix of curly and wavy, is cut into something of an undercut with his bangs pushed to one side - or something pinned back with bobby pins. it's naturally black, and he has the remains of some white on the underneath of his bangs and here and there in his hair from a previous bleach job. his eyes are mismatched due to heterochromia - the left being a light grey-blue, the right being a dark brown, and his skin-tone is a light brown. freckles dot between his eyes but are faint and not often seen. his clothing style tends to lean on edgy, in a way; dark-coloured skinny jeans with tears, a loose black tank-top with some sort of graphic, a leather jacket for cooler weather. his forearms are covered in various bracelets and he wears calf-high combat boots. he has various piercings; two in the left lobe and four in the right, an industrial bar to the left and three shell piercings on the right, a bridge piercing, viper bites and a tongue piercing; shiloh just seems to like that sort of thing. he has tattoo sleeves on both arms - but not the sort one would expect. instead of cool pictures or meaningful writing, his arms seem to be covered in runes of sorts, though nobody quite knows what they mean. he's fairly scarred, due to being a demigod, but his most notable scar is one curving from the outer left corner of his lips to behind his ear - in the right light, it looks almost like an extended smile, which is creepy in itself. as a child of nemsis, he doesn't forget an insult and he's good at keeping balance between others. that said, there's not much more special about him. due to training, he's very quick at climbing and he's versed in a fair few combat techniques; he tends to favour hand-to-hand combat with no weapons, and he always fights dirty.

alright, ngl, i probably won't make this pretty orz let's see -- which character would you rather? the one who stayed, or the one who left? let's start with that ^^

intentionalโs character
Elias Fulton โ30 son of Apollo
Elias is a tall individual, standing at the impressive height of 6โ3. He has fair skin and is lean but muscular. He has short honey blonde hair with bangs that fall to his eyes and is constantly swept away to the sides. He has sharp facial features, the most noticeable being his sharp jawline, and heโs considered quite handsome. His eyes are large and almond-shaped and theyโre a shade of blue-amethyst.. Heโs been told he is the closest replica to his godly father Apollo as one could get. He also has numerous scars on his body that are hidden by his clothes from his days as a camper. His back is riddled with scars, and he has a large scar on his torso and little ones on his abdomen.
Elias is characterized by singleminded intensity, as well as a harsh, unforgiving, and frequently caustic demeanor. Beneath his exterior harshness, however, he is well-meaning and kindhearted. While he is an intellectual prodigy, Elias is also extremely hardworking and very focused. Heโs also very protective of his emotions and doesnโt like to show or convey them to just anyone. Therefore, he can come off cold and detached, although he can act like a gentleman.
He also enjoys tea over coffee (to the point where he doesn't trust others to make it for him), and has a rather extreme sweet tooth, putting seven spoonfuls of sugar in his tea. He also carries chocolate with him at all times. He is ambidextrous and often uses his ambidexterity to his advantage. Being a son of Apollo, heโs also very musically talented, well-trained in violin, guitar, piano, the lute, as well as other various instruments. He can heal by singing a hymn to his father in ancient Greek, and the skill comes in handy in his profession as a doctor. Heโs naturally skilled in archery and hand-to-hand combat, but prefers talking over violence.
He left camp when he turned eighteen and put himself through college and med school with the help of other children of Apollo. He doesnโt really like to be reminded that heโs a demigod, although heโs dyslexic and that alone just serves as a constant reminder of his parentage. Heโs quite young to be an attending at his hospital, but he proves himself daily by being the best doctor he can be. He is trained in orthopedic and pediatric surgery.

i might go for nemesis solely because it's an interesting concept. hell yeah.
okay! sounds good to me.
hmm. maybe a threat that children/teenagers can't take care of - i say, as the books dealt with that anyway. possibly something they want to keep hidden from the kids, something they want to deal with before it gets too out of hand. or something orz i'm terrible at this i apologise

okie liiiit
hmmmmm what if some evil force is specifically targeting demigod kids with like a disease of some sort ? kinda like a virus where they get like super sick / or turns them violent and unable to control their powers or what not ? and so maybe ur charrie has to go look for older demigods that may be able to help solve this problem and cure the disease ? lol iโm revolving this around the fact iโm making my kid a doctor ๐ iโm terrible at this too :///

i have done it. the deed is done.
haha, it's okay. that would be interesting, though; perhaps they turn super violent/uncontrollable powered, but...it drains them very quickly and they end up bedridden, and the apollo cabin is struggling. perhaps my muse is sent to find yours on the basis that they're a) more local than other adult demigods and b) a doctor + a kid of apollo, so the initial quest is less of a quest and more of a gopher thing; find the demigod, get them here. but turns out, woops, need a special potion with special ingredients and whatdyaknow, it's not "name the herbs and go get them" it's "face a series of trials all across america and be given things by various beings and Then the gods will make the potion" or something
orz im reaching but it could be a decent initial mission ig L U L

He didn't have to stay at Camp Halfblood. The Harpies didn't care about where he went or when he was around, and really, there was nothing tying him down. No family, no friends, no nothing - but that suited him just fine.
Training the kids in hand-to-hand combat was fun, and being in on all the secrets he'd never been in on as a child - that was fun, too. What wasn't fun was getting attached. There were just some kids who were so kind and good or kids who looked up to him, little ones who slipped up and called him dad and, while everyone (including himself) laughed about it, it warmed his heart. Really, Shiloh Adler was not as scary as people often thought he was. He'd become something of a 'test of courage' for the new kids, his middle-of-the-day naps becoming into a game for them. He pretended not to notice, let them go on about stealing his keys or his wallet or even his dagger. As long as he got them back, then he didn't mind.
Really, Camp Halfblood was refreshing. He'd been fourteen when he'd first arrived - a little on the old side, and he hadn't had much hope. First, there had been the language barrier - his Hebrew versus the English, but he'd been a quick learner. Hell - that was just what he was, a quick learner. He didn't have much going for him like the kids of more major Gods and Goddesses - no. He was just...a son of Nemesis, known only for revenge - and lesser known for balance.
He preferred teaching the kids who were like him, but he wondered if they respected him or feared becoming like him. Likely the latter.
Naturally, when he'd spent so long around them, when he'd learned to care about them, he became concerned when illness started showing in the Camp. It wasn't just...coughing and sickness - Chiron could've dealt with that. Some of the children with stronger powers became violent, unpredictable - lashed out until his only chance at keeping the Camp safe was to subdue them and settle them into the Infirmary. Within a week or so, the Infirmary was fit to burst with sick demigods; bedridden and sickly, their violence wearing out. They ended up having the demigods treated in their own beds, but even that was too much for the Apollo Cabin. They were struggling too much, and Shiloh couldn't help them as much as he wanted to.
"Shiloh," said Chiron, one dark night - the moon hidden behind the clouds, a storm threatening to brew. "I need you to find this demigod. He works at a hospital nearby. He might know what's happening - and if he doesn't, then he might be able to help find out."
He glanced down at the picture given to him and frowned, before shoving it into his pocket and giving a lazy two-fingered salute. Seeming to take this as confirmation that the mini-quest was being taken up on, the centaur left, and Shiloh grabbed his keys before he headed to the outskirts of Camp. His own motorbike was parked with the vans, and even the oncoming storm (now drizzling rain and threatening to become windier) couldn't stop him from using it.
Shiloh's journey to the hospital was fairly uneventful; though it was dark and therefore more dangerous for demigods, he was an adult. The interest in him was low, and he had learned how to stay undetected - even by humans. He made quick time and parked his bike in a fairly lazy fashion, before entering the hospital. It had that sanitary smell - it was unpleasant and hurt his nose a little, but he understood what it was for. The Infirmary tent never smelled like this, but then again, they used other methods. They didn't need to bleach to high Hades to be sanitary. He wrinkled his nose a little and then smiled faintly at a nurse who approached him.
"Can I help you?" she asked nervously.
"Yes. I'm looking for Elias Fulton?"
He manipulated the mist, and after a couple of seconds, the nurse's concerned expression shifted to that of a kindly one. "Yes," she said softly, "alright. Here, sit in this room."
Shiloh was guided to a little private room, and he sat on one of the chairs and toyed with his keychain idly. He supposed the mist had just tricked the nurse into thinking he was a terrified child or something - he didn't know, but he didn't care. Whatever it had been, it would at least grab the attention of the son of Apollo that he was looking for. He leaned back and exhaled slowly, thought about what he'd do if he couldn't bring Fulton back to Chiron. Well - he supposed that they would have to find another adult son of Apollo. It was easier said than done.
[ i'm sorry for a) the lateness and b) the lameness orz i've been busy recently ]

( lol sorry for shortness )
Signing in for his fourth shift of the week, he didnโt expect to meet a fellow demigod. Sure, the hospital he worked at wasnโt too far from Camp, but it was dangerous for any demigod, especially the young ones at camp, to be wandering out this far.
The hospital he worked for, New Eden Medical Center, was a moderately-sized hospital in Long Island. He didnโt notice it at the time, maybe it was his subconscious acting, but when heโd sent in his resume to thousands of hospitals across the nation, New Eden Medical Center called out to him. It also helped that they were desperate for another pediatric surgeon. After graduating from Columbia University, he moved back down to Long Island to pursue his career as a young surgeon. Heโd just turned 27 when he got the job, and many people looked down on him for his young age. They thought he was a freak of nature, being able to complete his internship and residency and become an attending at such an early age. And it didnโt help that sometimes, he could โmagicallyโ cure impossible cases. Of course, it wasnโt magic, but a combination of his demigod powers as well as his medical knowledge. But slowly, and surely, his colleagues came to respect him and treat him as one of their own.
He had just come out of surgery, where his thirteen year-old patient had an appendectomy. It was a fairly simple surgery, just removing the appendix, and he was in and out in an hour. He scrubbed out, letting the nurses take care of the closing, and came out of the OR to talk to the boyโs parents. He smiled at them, seeing the relived look on their faces when a nurse tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
โDr. Fulton. A child, approximately around 14 years old is here to see you. Iโve left him in room 2204.โ She alerted.
โWhatโs he in for?โ Elias asked, writing things down in the patientโs chart.
The nurse paused, not answering his question. Elias turned his gaze from the chart to the nurse when suddenly her pager started to beep for an emergency. The nurse gave him a quick glance before sprinting down the hallway, and Elias was a bit confused, but he set the finished chart down and headed towards the room.
He knocked on the door before entering, and sitting on the chair was a small man, who definitely looked young, but not that young. He did a double take on the room number outside, and it clearly read 2204. Eliasโs blue-amethyst eyes narrowed a fraction, suspicious of this situation before closing the door behind him.
โA nurse said you were looking for me. Who are you?โ Elias asked, sitting across from him. His pale hands were folded in front of him, ready just in case this man was not what he seemed. Itโd been a while since heโd had to fight something, but that didnโt mean he wasnโt ready for a potential attack.

[ haha, it's okay. short is good for me rn ]
The wait wasn't as long as he'd expected, but for him - it was far too long. Time always felt like it passed too slowly; though the effects had been lessened considering his medication. It was fine, it helped him out - but he still felt jittery from time to time, like he needed to move, like he couldn't stay still or not do something. He wondered if demigods were just naturally hardwired like that, no matter what they were on. It was an interesting thought, and one that kept him occupied until the other man appeared.
He tilted his head when Fulton entered and smiled vaguely, raised an eyebrow and was quick to assess the situation. As long as he didn't pose a threat, he doubted that this man would pose one to him.
"My name is Shiloh Adler," he leaned back lazily, flicked his gaze to the door and ensured that the mist would remain strong for humans. He was glad he'd learned to do that; it was useful. It helped. It had been hard to learn, but considering he hadn't had anything else to focus on as a child of Nemesis, it had been worth it. "I'm here on behalf of our centaur friend."
It was better, he noted, to explain the situation rather than wait for the what is it?, and so he pressed on rather quickly.
"I was sent here because an illness has fallen over the Camp, and...well, children aren't equipped to deal with that much," he inhaled slowly and pushed his hair away from his face. "The infirmary is full and the younger children are being forced to stay in their cabins because we don't know what's causing it; the kids who end up sick end up violent and uncontrollable, and then they end up bedridden. I was sent here because you're the closest son of Apollo who's an adult. We want to know if you'll come and help us; we're not sure if this disease is deadly, or...what. It hasn't infected me or anyone over eighteen yet, so I don't think it affects adults."
Shiloh smiled faintly, but it was one of his quieter, less-emotional smiles. It was one that waited for someone to make a decision, it was one that put pressure on. It was not a friendly expression.

Eliasโs hands, folded in front of him, visibly separated and relaxed at the mention of their mutual centaur friend. Heโd noticed that something felt off, with the nurseโs report saying the visitor looked to be about 14, 15, but clearly, heโd manipulated the Mist, making him appear to be so. The Mist didnโt affect demigods, and Elias silently respected the man for being able to manipulate the Mist, for it was a difficult skill to learn, one that Elias never did learn.
Elias listened to the man talk and explain why heโd come to visit him in the hospital. His shoulders visibly drooped at the mention of the disease that was affecting the young demigods, as he suddenly felt exhausted at the mention of the unknown disease. He didnโt expect to be approached by a fellow adult demigod, nevertheless to be asked for help for curing this inexplainable disease. He let out a soft sigh as he pulled off his navy scrub cap, decorated with the sun, moon and stars. He fiddled with his cap, looking down at the images of the sun, symbolizing his father.
To be honest, Elias felt immensely overworked and people relied on him too much. Ever since he was a child, abandoned at age five by his mother, and he was basically raised by Chiron. As one of the oldest members of camp, he was left to take care of the newbies, regardless of whether or not they were children of Apollo. He was one of the Campโs โOlder Brotherโ figure before he left twelve years ago. He thought heโd left the demigod life behind, but after twelve years, he was now being drawn back to it, to help out his younger siblings and distant relatives.
He could feel the man, Shiloh Adler, staring at him, awaiting for his answer. Elias finally looked up from his scrub cap as he tucked it away into his pocket. His blue-amethyst eyes looked straight into his heterochromatic eyes before nodding slowly.
"This is my last shift for the week. Iโll drive to camp once tonightโs shift is over; Iโve got some last-minute patients to attend to here. I can meet you at camp with my supplies once Iโm done here.โ Elias said, standing up from the chair. He felt more fatigued than usual, probably because he was already starting to worry for the kids at camp.
โIf you can set up an isolation ward for the already-infected, thatโd be great. Are there any other adults at camp besides you, Chiron and Mr. D? Weโre going to need lots of beds, blankets, towels, and such, so if you can have all that preppedโฆ Iโll bring the protective equipment necessary to go in and out of the iso rooms. And have anyone whoโs been nearby the patients separated from everyone else. We donโt know if theyโve been infected yet. Anyone whoโs talented in medicine from the Apollo cabin to stay put and try to minimize contact with the patients. Iโm going to need their help once Iโm done here.โElias said, before excusing himself to finish up with his current patients at the hospital.
Luckily, he hadnโt used any of his vacation or sick days in the three years heโd been at this hospital, and he thanked the Gods he didnโt. He would have to transfer some of his cases to the other pediatric surgeons and take a break from work to deal with the disease at camp. He quickly let his nurses and superiors know before dealing with the last of his patients.

Hospitals put him on edge, he noted. He didn't know why - maybe it was the fake feeling of it all, or perhaps it was just because he hadn't attended them often. His father had been more into the idea of homeopathic remedies, and besides, he'd only been seriously ill while at Camp Halfblood - which meant that the Apollo kids had sorted him out, from time to time. Yeah. It was probably the unfamiliarity that came with these places.
He flicked his gaze away from Fulton to look at the patterns painted on the walls - likely supposed to be child friendly. Then, he shifted his weight and looked back at the other man. Focus, he told himself.
"D's away for business right now," he stated lightly, "so it's just me and Chiron. But yes, I think all of that is doable. The Infirmary's basically isolation already, it's just a matter of dealing with everything else," his shoulders lifted in an elegant shrug. He watched the man leave before he, himself, left - and made the journey back to the Camp.
Shiloh relayed what he'd been told by Fulton to Chiron, and the two of them set up the isolation area. It took some time, but once they were done, the two sat outside the Big House; Shiloh smoking (much to the centaur's dismay) and the centaur himself watching the Camp. It was significantly quieter - but to be fair, it was off-season anyway. A fair few of the demigods would be at their normal homes, which made the impact of this disease...a little less.
He watched the entrance of the Camp from where he sat, and so did a few of the younger Campers, knowing that another adult demigod was coming to help. It wasn't common for adults to be around, but hey. They seemed to enjoy the experience.

( should we start discussing what this disease could be ? lol i donโt just wanna start making up things )
Elias spent the last of his shift letting the parents know of his break, and the parents were disappointed to hear that he wasnโt going to be their childโs doctor anymore. But he explained to them that he was taking a break from the hospital to do volunteer work elsewhere, with other children, which wasnโt necessarily a lie, The doctor managed to be persuasive and charismatic enough for the parents to not be too disappointed and let him go with a few messages of โgood luckโ and โthanks for your help, docโ.
He changed out of his scrubs into his usual attire, which was a simple suit. He buttoned up his pale blue collared shirt and put on his black pants with his shoes. He threw his doctorโs coat on top and stuffed one of its pockets with the tie heโd worn into work that morning. He made sure his personal belongings were on him as he donned his stethoscope around his neck before grabbing to the supplies closet to grab as much supplies as he could for the kids back at camp. He grabbed various personal protective equipments, different medical equipment, medicines, and he would bring a portable vital machine from his office before throwing the supplies into his car. He also brought various medical texts, just in case they might help, before starting the engine to his car and driving to CHB.
He took a minute to look at camp from the outside. He hadnโt come back since he left, and the years-worth of memories flooded in, and he took a deep breath in and out before grabbing as much stuff as he could by himself before entering. He could make out Chironโs form in the distance as well as someone sitting beside him. Elias made his way over, looking disheveled and his arms full, wanting to get a run-down of any significant changes since heโd last talked to Shiloh Adler, who Elias recognized was sitting next to the centaur. There seemed to be other younger campers nearby, probably curious to see who was coming to help them.
โChiron, Mr. Adler.โ Elias greeted. โHas anything changed since we last talked?โ

i like your initial idea from a few posts up like maybe an oracle gets a message that like this disease was rampant like waaaaaaay back when and itโs more so a curse than a disease thatโs afflicting the younger demigods idk maybe like a titan is casting the curse ??? so they gotta retrieve the potions ingredients and give it to a god to brew while they fight off the titan to release the curse???? idek

To be honest, Shiloh wasn't sure what he had expected. For Fulton not to show up? Probably. In which case, he would've been sent on another trip to find another adult demigod who just so happened to be a doctor or a child of Apollo - either one worked, preferably the doctor part. The equipment could come in handy, he supposed.
So, of course, it was a mild surprise when the doctor himself walked up, but, without the need to speak, Shiloh simply ashed his cigarette and raised a single eyebrow.
"There are a few more demigods who have fallen ill," Chiron studied the man over once, before he nodded over to the isolation tents. "But we did as you asked, and isolated them. However, it seems that our initial theory of it being a disease wasn't quite right. The Oracle was told that this type of disease ran rampant back in the Ancient times; it seems to be a curse. Of course, to cure a curse, we wouldn't need medical equipment, as such, but..."
"He - or the Oracle - wants us to gather up a list of ingredients, give the ingredients to one of the gods - probably Apollo - to brew a potion, and then fight the Titan that caused the curse so that once we've cured the ones afflicted with it, it won't happen again."
Chiron cleared his throat. "To put it bluntly, yes."
Shiloh shrugged lazily and rested his chin on his hand. He wasn't too interested in this situation, but if it was a curse on the young demigods, then it made sense that adult demigods had to go. It was just unfortunate that he had to be here as one of the only adults, and even more unfortunate for him to get paired up with someone he didn't know at all. Whatever.

@borderline
Elias listened to the man speak as his eyes glanced over to the isolation tents. No one was around it, as expected, and the sight was unsettling to him. There had been nothing this bad before when he was staying here, and the thought of the sick kids pierced his heart. At the mention of his fatherโs name, however, Elias looked back as his brows furrowed with displeasure.
He never had the best relationship with his fatherโฆ in fact, heโd never met him before. He only knew Apollo was his father because of his demigod abilities and the fact that Chiron says that Elias is a splitting image of his father. It seemed ridiculous to bear a grudge against his godly parent, as he was a fledged adult, but Elias couldnโt help himself that he didnโt like his father.
โDo we know what these ingredients are and where to get them?โ Elias asked, running his hand through his honey-blond hair.
Itโd been twelve years since heโd last heard the words โoracleโ and โtitansโ and โdemigodsโ, and frankly, being thrust into this environment was giving Elias a migraine. He thought it would be a medical issue, but now heโd been told it was a titanโs curse that was inflicted onto these children. And since only children were afflicted, it was up to the adults to handle this situation, which meant that Elias would have to go and fight the titan that started this mess. The thought of fighting a supernatural being made his old scars pulsate; he hadnโt fought anything in over a decade, and now he was being thrust into this world once more, just when he thought he had gotten out.
But Elias couldnโt say no. He couldnโt just abandon the sick kids โ that would violate the oath he took when he became a doctor. He let out a soft sigh as he strengthened his resolve to help these kids, setting all personal feelings on this matter aside. Heโd do it for the kids. It's for the kids, for the kids, for the kidsโฆ
