hey hey hey. aves here. haven't been rping much lately because i've been loving the site flight rising, but i think it's time to return to good 1x1s here- fr's roleplaying forum leaves much to be desired. in the way of good partners. ugh. never looking there ag a i n.
anyways! i'm on the search for an rp partner that's chill with me losing muse sometimes. i'll be very active at first, drop off and just want to chat, and then get into the rp again. also one that wants to chat, whoops, and i should really just make a list of what i want.
activity - what i just said above. be chill with me losing muse a bit and then coming back with a vengeance. shrugs. literacy / length - i'm pretty lax on this, really, even if i say semi-lit/lit. i can do shorter replies if they're quality replies and it moves the plot along. i can do longer replies if i'm pretty invested in what i'm rping. it really shifts to fit the rp dynamic. some benefit from shorter, choppier replies, and others from elegant, long writing, and- just give me an rp example, okay? my length can go anywhere from 200-800 words, sometimes more, but usually 200-500. i try to match my partner, but if i have less muse i'll have some shorter replies. i don't have examples at the moment because i haven't rped recently. lgbt+ - don't get me started on "only m/f!" things. i'm so burned out rping them from the old forums that i'll only do a male and female main pair if they're strictly platonic. i don't mind m/f pairs, but....i really don't want to rp them with romantic feelings. siblings? sure. friends? alrighty. a couple / dating / married / even one-sided love? please, please, no. the only romance i'm interested in is lgbt+. romance - also continuing a bit from above, if romance is the only thing you want please click off of this thread. romance should develop naturally and without it being a main goal. even as i say that, though, i'm fine with a well thought out plot with romance happening. i just really don't want it to be the star of the show. i don't think i have much else for rules, but i'll edit this if i do.
so! plots, plots, plots....hm.
if you're looking for fandoms, i only have a few i'd ever want to rp and only under certain circumstances. want to know? sure? here's the fandoms and conditions.
f a n d o m s
yuri on ice - not focusing on yuuri/victor (viktor?) at all. i've found the platonic relationship between yuuri & yuri much more interesting to go over. have complaints? want to rp yuuri and victor? too bad. you're not gonna. don't you dare ask to rp them.
flight rising - a dragon site. be willing to interact with a clan residing in a bookstore with a city. it's pretty chill.
eragon / the inheritance cycle - dragon riders are pretty cool. only doing ocs. have a good plot, since i won't suggest one.
harry potter - canon characters. something like fics where harry isn't with the Light. for some reason, i've taken a liking to harry/tom riddle. whoops. please don't think about displaying ron, percy, or molly in a good light.
overwatch - something like the fic on ao3 "thanks, dad. love, hana". nice character studies and thoughtful ways to display the characters. a platonic 76&hana is nice. dad!76 is the best.
don't want fandoms? well, i have a brilliant thing to tell you- i can do completely original plots as well! i'd like them to be character driven, but not with fifteen paragraphs on introspective thoughts while your character stands there before going "yeah, i don't like the sky" or something like that. that thing above in the rules about longer posts? if they're long, don't fill it with thoughts. please. please, don't. the plot will go nowhere. i do have some plot ideas, though, whoa! even if they're vague and i'm tired and this is just a cry for help for someone to rp with me.
o r i g i n a l s t u f f vague ideas? you have no idea.
cool time stuff like time travel, uh.....time stuff....idk. just. time is really cool that's why i chose pokemon diamond
uh. rivals, but only one person treats it as a rivalry and/or they have hidden identities for whatever they have a rivalry for, at least one of them, and the characters know each other outside of that
fantasy....the kind like dungeons and dragons, but not played like that. stuff like towns, adventurers, parties, quests, dungeons, other things...but a bit more chill. not focused on adventuring, but there can be an adventurer, or someone who was powerful but is now a nobody shopkeeper, uh....cool stuff. slightly introspective. a more relaxed kind of rp.
please suggest to me whatever you want that's not band related or vampire / werewolf related!! i'm terrible at coming up with ideas, sorry
that's p much it. i also reserve the right to deny an rp or something if i don't think we'll fit.
this is closed atm

Yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomfg
So first of all. Inheritance Cycle. Like.... even if we don't do anything related to it... yes. Just yes. I never see anyone who has actually read the books all the way through so... I'm very excited XD I could totally do an Inheritance Cycle rp, but I don't really have any amazing plots for it? I'm sure I could come up with something, though, depending on what you were interested in. Perhaps a Rider & dragon from before the Empire, or a new one? Or anything from different points during the Empire or books... maybe something with elves, or the Varden? I also very much like werecats lmao.
I also like the idea of "rivals but only one person treats it as a rivalry," that just sounds hilarious lmao. Unfortunately I have, like, no idea of what they would be rivals on. All I can think of is some kind of ridiculous Yu-Gi-Oh-esque anime thing with completely pointless conflict tbh. But I guess that could also be a sub-conflict that could mesh well into... pretty much any other genre.
I like Harry Potter, but not feeling canon characters. I kind of dislike most of them (or at least aren't especially fond of them) and don't feel like I could play them well anyhow. But if you wanted to do OCs I'd be up for that.
I also play Flight Rising, so I might consider something related to that. Not sure what though, I actually don't really know a lot about the lore surrounding it so I'm not sure how well I could roleplay it. If you had any particular plot in mind, though, I'd consider it.
Fantasy also sounds awesome and I'm generally pretty good at it. I would totally be up for some kind of really mundane thing going on in some town somewhere. Preferably not something directly royalty-related, though... most "fantasy" you see is either related to adventuring (which you ruled out) or royalty, so I'd like to see something else for a change lmao. Not sure if you'd want to go for something more high fantasy (like, elves & magic) or something more medieval, with like, just humans but in a fantasy world. I'm good for either tbh.

(do you like my wonderful skydancer boy florence he's my icon i'll gush about him forever,,,,, and. squints. what flight are you in)
inheritance cycle - ooh, i love the werecats too. i'm pretty rusty on what happened with details but i do have the books (not brisingr bc i read that at a library) and know about most stuff (the races, basic plot, a few details, the dragon hearts, glaedr being all angsty after losing his rider and all that hmm i dont think i'd rp it though without being super enthusiastic about the plot. wh oops
harry potter - perhaps if we don't find anything else we like ^^
rivalries - i mean, there's always rivalry in stuff like a fanbase, authors, sports, anything under the sun- even old, nearly-forgotten rivalries from a young time
fantasy - OKAY SO i got this idea from a harry / riddle fic WHOOPS but it's pretty chill- a shopkeeper and an adventurer becoming friends / maybe more, but it focuses less on the adventuring and more on the daily life / ongoings of the world- there's magic and mana and lots of weird creatures and nations and stuff and a lot of things could happen with that- the shopkeeper could have been a famous adventurer but quit because it felt wrong / they wanted a simple life / etc and one of them could have erased their previous life bc of internal struggles but. they meet somehow and could maybe form a contract- the adventurer gets supplies from the dungeons / monster-ridden areas littering the world for them, some other stuff...we could really go anywhere
i sorta want the shopkeeper though if you dont mind & like this plot rip
also please tell me if u want me to like your posts or not!! (oh also would you mind an rp sample?? ive seen u around but not any recent stuff)

I'm in the Arcane flight. I was in the Wind flight at first (bc WindClan ftw) but just wasn't really feeling it so I changed. It's kind of ironic because, like, I literally never use magic in fantasy worlds (or at least games... like, D&D? Elder Scrolls? Any LARP? Magic is no. Sometimes I can rp it though). I think my icon is currently a Wildclaw, but I actually haven't been on for a while because after like 6 months you start to run out of things to, like, actually do lmao.
As for Inheritance Cycle... I mean, I can think of the basis of what could be a lot of little plots, so if there's any particular part of the world, or a race, or a piece of magic, or really any kind of concept that you're interested in (minus really obscure sht that there's not a lot of info about, like the spirits or the Grey Folk) let me know because I can probably think of something lmfao.
As for the fantasy one..... maaaaaaaybe? You being the shopkeeper is fine with me, I'm not 100% sure I'd want to do an adventurer specifically, but I'm sure I can come up with something lol. It would depend slightly on the make-up of the world, what I would want to do. Probably something tragic though lmao.
And yeah let me find something. It'll be from a roleplay of mine most likely, since I'm bad at just making, like, stand-alone "rp samples" that aren't, like, from something. And I don't want to use like any of my actual "writing" because I write and roleplay a bit different lol.

Daybird had awoken shortly after sunrise, slipping out of his nest and treading on one or two tails or paws as he left and quickly apologizing under his breath as he tried to quietly exit the warriors' den. Outside, the day was bright and clear, and he took a moment to simply enjoy the warmth and clarity of the day. Then, he went over to where the deputy was arranging patrols, asking what he should do first.
"Um... find someone to patrol with you. Go to the northern shore," the deputy told him rather dismissively, waving their tail at the other cats gathered in camp. Daybird dipped his head, turning to look at what his options were. Most cats were sharing tongues, chatting, organizing their own patrols, and generally getting ready for the day. Daybird was uncertain he wanted to interrupt any of their activities; he was sure they all had their own things to do for now. Finally, he spotted a lone cat on the other side of camp, looking like they had just woken up. Well, he thought, it's worth a try. Trotting over to the white she-cat, Daybird dipped his head politely.
"Hi, Citruspetal," he meowed nervously. He had never talked to her before, besides a few passing words on patrols and such, and he always got nervous around she-cats as it was. He was always careful to treat them politely and respectfully, and do his best not to make a bad impression... after all, any one of them (well, besides those already paired) could end up his mate one day. Pushing that thought from his mind, he focused on his current task, and continued: "[deputy] said I should find someone to patrol the northern shore with me. Would you like to come?"
(this Clan didn't have a deputy yet so that's why it just says [deputy] lmao)

i'm a windy!!!! i only joined in august but theyre all so welcoming,,,, honestly idk what i would have done in any other flight. i didnt know what to start out with but...wind is really nice there are some ppl that have been there for years like omg i thought about arcane! and ice! and water! but wind is where my heart's at. <3
hmm...i mean, it's not really true to the canon, but i feel like not all dragons would be as similar as they seem in the books?? it would be cool to have a dragon just large enough to hold their rider (unless i've imagined that dragons are much larger than they are??) and make up for their size with,,, lots and lots of speed and energy and stamina i dont have a plot based off of that but....i like the idea
lol dw it doesnt have to be an adventurer hmm...how i imagine it would sorta be with kingdoms and stuff but...lots of smaller kingdoms, not a few large kingdoms monsters roaming around but they usually stick to dungeons hmm........worldbuilding is hard but fun but i'm exhausted what do you like / would you prefer?
& lol, [deputy] is my favorite character! they're the best!

I'm actually very good at world building... I have to slow down to stop from scaring people away lmao.
As for the dragons... yeah, they're not quite all the same. I think Glaedr and Saphira do have similar personalities just in general, both being very solemn, and Thorn I think is not naturally so solemn but was basically tortured from a hatchling, soooo... yeah. And Firnen is, I think, far more cheerful and happy but you don't get to see a lot of him. As for the size... we could do that, but dragons grow pretty quickly if I remember correctly, so the dragon would only be at that size for a short time lol. So it couldn't really be the basis of the plot. After all, dragons never stop growing.
As for the fantasy thing................. hmm. So there's magic, monsters, and different kingdoms.... are there different races, or just humans? Since that would probably affect the way the kingdoms function, for one, and would just generally affect how the world is set up....

i LOVE worldbuilding you dont even know aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAA
hmm if we did an inheritance cycle plot i'd prob either have a character without a dragon or with a dragon that's gone & they managed to live through it. don't know what plot we'd have, though- perhaps one dragon rider needed someone to help them on some important journey and they were the only one for the task?
different races. mostly humanoid stuff, i'd say? but i'd think that some kingdoms have a generally mixed population while some are mostly one race or a certain few. & not everyone has magic, which i'd say would be an important note. but it's not hidden like hp.

Mr. Krabbs I have an ideeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
So not so long ago, all (or at least most) of the kingdoms were united either as one kingdom or in an alliance of sorts, but then something happened which caused the kingdom/alliance to break and war to rage out, shattering the area into many different small kingdoms, most consisting of only a few cities and ruled by whoever was able to take power after the war broke out. Perhaps the shattering is the fault, or partial fault of (or is, at the very least, perceived to be the fault of) a particular race or kingdom, and members of that race/kingdom are now looked down upon and treated badly by the other kingdoms. Most likely the kingdom no longer exists, and the land was seized by others during and after the war; thus, the members of that race/kingdom must travel throughout the other kingdoms, trying to find work where they can, or begging for what they have, but are almost always treated badly.
The shopkeeper could be a veteran of the war- perhaps a simple soldier, or perhaps someone more important like a knight or small-time general. They saw and did a lot of terrible things during the war for the sake of their kingdom, and after the war perhaps vowed never to fight again, and settled down to make their living as a simple trader. The other character could possibly be a member of the other race/kingdom, and the shopkeeper at some point might witness the mistreatment of said character- perhaps getting beat up in an alley or something, idk lmao. In any case, they feel bad for them (whether because they realize that the war wasn't as much of the fault of that race/kingdom as generally thought, or just because they feel bad in that moment for that particular person), and steps in to help them. Then maybe they offer them a "job" in their shop in exchange for shelter and food, basically, and over time they become friends or whatever else. If you wanted to make it more of a conflict, it could be that the shopkeeper actually is prejudiced against that race/kingdom, thinking like everyone else that the war was their fault, but sort of as a heat of the moment thing helps them out. After the fact, it's a struggle to overcome their prejudice as they get to know this person more and more.
As for Inheritance Cycle.... I do like that idea, being someone who lost a dragon and having to enlist someone else's help to do something. Perhaps it could be something like, a dragon egg was stolen or something, and they need the help of someone from outside the order to track down the thief and get the egg back. Idk lmao.

Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Oct 13, 2017 22:42:27 GMT -5
hmm...i sorta like that, but i'm getting a bit hooked on the inheritance cycle one whoops maybe we could merge them h m m
& i was thinking sorta like a dragon rider that has some experience but needs someone with more controlled magic or something asks for the help of the dragon rider that had lost their dragon, maybe in a battle? idk i either read what u put down wrong or something and most of the riders pity them and the rider without a dragon is So Done with all of them
|
|
|
Post by Aphelyon on Oct 13, 2017 22:49:19 GMT -5
Aw lmao I was starting to get into the other one XD
As for the Inheritance Cycle one.... hm. Maybe there's an older Rider who had lost their dragon a long time ago, and then a younger Rider recently lost theirs and is having a hard time with it, so the two get sent to do some kind of mission together in the hope that the older one will sort of help the younger one through it? Idk.
|
|
|
Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Oct 13, 2017 22:55:35 GMT -5
hmm....i was thinking perhaps there's a young rider that's pretty new, but nobody can really teach them since there's very few riders- could be some time after canon, could be in some kind of au- so it's left to the rider that had lost their dragon to teach them...
& for the other one- i'm kinda eh on the war, but perhaps it could be something like stirrings of discontent and hatred towards a certain race? as if there'll be a war or revolution soon, but it's not to the point of blatant discrimination by everyone. the shopkeeper could have still done some things they regret, though- during an adventure, or as part of the army, or something else
|
|
|
Post by Aphelyon on Oct 13, 2017 22:58:49 GMT -5
Yeah that could work. I just figured a war was a very good way to stir up prejudice as well as give the shopkeeper some skeletons in their closet, and bring together the characters, idk XD
And yeah that could work. Tbh I'm not super excited about it but it could be fun anyways lol

hmmmm want to try refreshing ideas? we can go back to this, but maybe develop more ideas besides these two so that we're sure we're enthusiastic about whatever rp we do
- perhaps a harry potter thing with ocs? there are a few things we could do- wizards trying to integrate with the muggle world since they can't find wizarding jobs or have some but can't live in a place populated by wizards two teachers at hogwarts or some other wizarding school where they had rivalries when they were young and now it's really awkward because hey you're teaching in the same building i'm in and they're still rivals but....friendly rivals and all of the students think Something is happening
whoops i ran out of ideas again but i really like the teacher idea rip me

Post by Aphelyon on Oct 13, 2017 23:14:23 GMT -5
okay.... new idea....
So both characters used to be adventurers or something of that sort, and were rivals of each other. Perhaps they grew up in the same town or something and were childhood friends, or even not friends but knew each other. They grew up, and though they chose the same path they went about it different and disagreed heavily. Over time, one of them became discouraged and gave up that life, becoming a shopkeeper or something similar in a city or town somewhere. The other continued doing the thing, and eventually something bad happens to them which essentially disables them- blinding them, or something like that. They're now unable to take care of themselves, at least for the time being, but the only person they even know to turn to is their former rival, who begrudgingly agrees to help them. It might be interesting to have the juxtaposition of one person who gave up the life of an adventurer, and then the other who was forced to, and having to come to terms with it.

yep! endless possibilities. so many possibilities for mayhem. the headmaster / headmistress prob gets headaches from them every day because something always happens like you can't prove anything about them but everyone's constantly suspicious. half the school thinks they're dating, half the school thinks they're bitter exes who are falling in love for the second time, and all of them think SOMETHING happens when one of them sleeps in the other's rooms one night but its prob just bc of anxiety and nightmares or something and they're really great friends
& ooh thats a good idea too but the rumors in the teachers one could be so great haha

yep! i'd rather do the teacher one atm, if you don't mind? that's the one with ideas flowing atm for me, at least.
for now, this is what i've been thinking -either the top students of their year and rivals that way, house rivals, or a mix of blood purity and ideals and they could be total opposites -they've seen eachother in a new light, perhaps, since graduating? -would you mind if i had the transfiguration professor aaaaaaa
|
|
|
Post by Aphelyon on Oct 13, 2017 23:53:20 GMT -5
Yeah definitely, go for transfiguration. Hm. I have no idea what I would do... maybe care of magical creatures? Assuming this is a universe/point in time where Hagrid is not that lmao. Otherwise probably potions or defense against the Dark Arts.
As for mine... mine would definitely be Slytherin, probably a pureblood or half-blood who comes from a middle class or somewhat lower-class family (not the super wealthy sort of wizarding families that Slytherins are usually depicted with). Dunno if he'd necessarily be the top of his class, and certainly not a prefect or anything like that, but it is possible he would be near the top, at least in subjects that interest him. Certainly wouldn't be so much of a Quidditch player, so that rivalry is out.... so probably a House rivalry, but that would depend on which House you want to go for XD
and as for how things develop.... I would say maybe they start out with some sort of dislike for each other but over time come to realize that how they felt when they were rivals in school is petty and outdated, and so while they sort of keep their "rivalry" it turns into more of a friendly thing/bit of a joke more than actual rivalry.
I feel as though I should also note that if you want any romance to actually happen I would prefer MxM as opposed to MxF. Of course, if there's no actual romance and it's just rumors, then female is fine lol.
|
|
|
Post by ♕ - ᴠɪʀɢɪʟ on Oct 14, 2017 0:09:30 GMT -5
i'm thinking an au without most things that happened in canon, although old pureblood families would exist- malfoys, potters, etc.
imagine them having this really huge rivalry for one subject & it just bled over into every other subject and in general and Everyone knew when they were in school so all of the parents or older siblings of current students are pretty shocked that they're "together" haha
hmm, i'm actually thinking hufflepuff? initially i thought ravenclaw, but...they'd fit hufflepuff more. even if they're pretty smart ^^ has the qualities of ravenclaw & hufflepuff but more 'puff traits a few other things ive decided about them - either a muggleborn orphan adopted by wizards or a muggleborn raised with their parents - an animagus- most likely something cute and cuddly like a smol cat or bunny - really, really enthusiastic about transfiguration, but pretty good at divination and defense against the dark arts
definitely. the headmaster/headmistress having been there when they were at hogwarts and expecting absolute animosity and then being shocked because they think the two are together, too
dw, i'm leaning towards male or nb for my character c:

|
Post by Aphelyon on Oct 14, 2017 0:15:48 GMT -5
Hahaha yeah. I love Slytherin + Hufflepuff, too, though not quite as much as I love Slytherin + Ravenclaw. Hmmmmm. I'm trying to think of a situation where maybe something happened with their Houses that caused them to dislike each other for petty reasons, and it just sort of escalated? Probably someone shttalking Slytherin (because, ya know, that's what all the other Houses do basically lol) and the Hufflepuff one believing them? And then maybe something stupid happened between those particular characters (like Slytherin just royally screwed up some kind of social situation and came off as a jerk and the Hufflepuff is just like THEY WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG or something idk). And then it goes from there for like 7 years until they graduate lol. And so they come to Hogwarts later to teach expecting the other to be the same and sort of picking up where they left off but then over time but it's been like 5 years and they're like.... actually we're both completely different, plus that situation was stupid to begin with, so maybe we should be friends? Idk lol I'm just throwing things out there trying to piece some kind of backstory together.

ahh, i like that o;
& perhaps your character also didn't like mine bc of any classes they shared and maybe bc they believe a lot in divination while a lot of kids say it's fake?
also: cute lil cat animagus stirring the students into a frenzy because it's so cute and nobody knows it's my char
& once they're friendly my char prob demands to sleep on them as a cat because its so comfortable

Lmao yes. Plot twist, mine is also an animagus but they're not registered XD I just thought of that because it would kind of make sense if he's a care of magical creatures teacher... and probably also has a problem with authority lol. I can see where they might have some issues because like, it seems like yours is a pretty innocent, cute little Hufflepuff who believes in divination and probably horoscopes and stuff and mine is like anti-authority, socially awkward, brooding, kind of a jerk at times Slytherin and probably there was just a lot of miscommunication and petty high school level prejudice XD

yep! and we could start it off with them arriving at hogwarts before the year starts so they can set up their quarters, classroom, etc, and greet the teachers again and then they see eachother and all of the other teachers feel death approaching
