She's still a wip, but here's the basic idea so far
In the book I'm writing, magic is supposed to only exist in fiction, but there are several islands where it is common. They're usually hidden from humans, but are occasionally found by accident and do have people living on them. This character was the victim of a plane crash/shipwreck/some type of accident when she was little and ends up living on one of the islands. After a few years of being there, she and some other people start developing strange abilities, hers being the ability to teleport to places she can see.
An organization there on the island has been searching for people who've gained powers from the island to work for them. This usually means kidnapping children, especially since they're normally affected by the island more than adults. For this reason, people who develop powers try to keep them hidden, but one day when she's around ten or eleven she's seen using her powers and taken from the group that she's come to view as her family. For several years she works for the (currently unnamed) organization until she discovers that they're trying to capture and kill a girl she'd known... I don't have everything planned out, but that's part of it at least. She loses her voice due to an injury she receives in the accident, so she mostly communicates through sign language or writing.

(When she's taken she's only allowed in rooms without windows to keep her from teleporting out and escaping, but she is eventually allowed more freedom but is probably guarded. She tries to keep a positive attitude but she obviously isn't happy where she is and wants to escape even though she's afraid to try.)

same tbh, I like both names but she's been V for years. Originally she was Vira, but I kept misreading/mispronouncing it so I just changed the spelling to Vyra. cx

I like both but from the picture I think Callie seems to fit more. I wish I could give a reason why other than just looking like a Callie.

She looks so cool! I wish I could draw humans as good as you, --cato phoenix. :3 And, I think all of the names sound nice, but Calli does fit her well. I'm interested in her story, and I hope I can read it some day, whether you decide to publish it or post it somewhere.

I love the name Calliope for her! I guess I just like the irony of how she's named after the Greek muse known to have a beautiful voice, but she's mute. Plus, I like the name in general (there's a shop in my town called Calliope and it's a great shop)

Thanks everyone! Maplestone360 I've actually started on the story she's from (though she hasn't appeared in it yet) but I probably won't be making a thread for it, I'm just sending it to people who are interested in PMs or on Discord as I finish chapters. So far I've gotten the first chapter and like a page of chapter two- better than my last few attempts, I had a hard time getting past the first page. I started working on it in 2014 and I've restarted it a lot but I'm hoping I have it right this time.

Nice design. Her name could be Calliope, but shortened to Callie for a nickname. That would be neat!
