GONNA HAVE TO STOP YOU RIGHT THERE.Welcome to this roleplay! I expect not much of roleplayers but at least five lines per post, and they don't have to be long, but hopefully of some substance. That aside, I hope everyone has a good time here and that this roleplay lasts for a long time.
RULES
1. Do not powerplay/godmod.
2. For every two female characters have at least one male, and vice versa.
3. Bracket all OoC content with {, ( or [.
4. No immediate love tropes. Wait a little bit, and let things flow.
5. To make sure you skim over everything, I have a "little" (hint) secret code. Make sure you get it in your form. (Look for small text).
6. Respect others and ask to kill/injure/etc. their characters.
7. No perfect characters. Make them fun.
8. Characters can be pure dog only. No wolfdogs or other cross-species hybrids.

action. So many tropes describe animals living human lives and doing human things. But has it ever occured to us that maybe the animal life, animal alone, can be just as intriguing? You walked in the forest, your pads stuck with thorns, exhausted and scared. You had once lived tame, and for a long time, and then one day, things changed forever. You strayed too far, and it cost you—because now you were a stray and a short sentence to the pound seemed not that far off.
You heard a rustling in the distance. Not the innocent sounds of a squirrel or mouse in the forest undergrowth, which would in fact be very much welcome. No, these were heavy and threatening noises, with weight behind them, and intensity. Then one howl, and then another—both close. A noise behind you—close—brought you back to the world.
You turned around and tried to escape, but your panicked run was broken off by a muscled figure. Your head hurt, your blood rushing. Your back hit the ground and twigs and thorns stabbed into your pelt. You looked up and saw the face of a German shepherd oh-so-close, and all around you, more dogs stood, stoic. You were so tense, your bones started to ache within your body.
Silence.
You looked away and averted your eyes. Then two dogs advanced, a suffocating tarp was thrown over your face, and everything went darker and darker, terrifying and yet so real …

info. This roleplay is set in an indistinct but modern time period from 1980 to modern times and focuses on a pack of feral dogs who are in hot water due to the advancement of humans and what is seemingly their urge to kill all dogs that do not belong to them. These feral dogs have gone back to their wild ancestry and have instincts like no pet dog you've ever seen. Though once purebred pets, these dogs have found themselves in their isolation and have one goal: to fight back, and take over.

places, commerce, and culture. The dogs live in a 90-acre plot that is owned by a very old woman who lives in Indiana, quite far away. It is unknown what will happen to the land when she perishes but hopefully it will lie vacant for a while, at least until the pack of dogs dies out.
The 90 acres are north of the city and gently creep South to delicately frame the western part of the metropolitan area. South of the metropolitan area are the Slums and the Suburbs—the latter of which is where safe families and their inside dogs live. South of the Suburbs is the 15 acres of "wildlife preservation", very little land compared to where the dogs live. This shows the twisted and ridiculous morals of humans at their best.
However, the farthest points of the land are rather vacant and dogs rarely go there unless they are hunting or patrolling the borders for humans or other dogs. The dogs stay safe in the center of the land and what surrounds it. They normally go hunting or spend their free time in either their camp in the center or to the east of the land, which has no city past it and is free of most interruptive life. However, close human traffic is always to be expected in the areas closest to the city and hikers, outdoorsmen, and other curious people can often be found there in the daytime. Frequently humans will walk their dogs at the southernmost area of the 90 acres, which could be defined as trespassing.
Since nobody else is there to defend the land, the dogs have taken charge and have taken it upon themselves to chase anyone out. The land is private and thus nobody can catch them, making it perfect for dog life. Different packs of dogs living in the slums and city, which are not well-defended like the suburbs, often engage in trade with the 90-acres pack, at a safe distance, with messengers and traders going out on voyages to safely retrieve items. Commerce amongst packs is fairly common when certain items are difficult to find, like in the winter or in shortages. To prevent ambushes from happening, traders and messengers have a sacred truce that prevents them from taking more than one dog on their voyages. If this is broken, then it becomes a pack feud and dogs from either side will eventually be killed.
The leader of a pack is important, and viewed not just as a fellow member of the pack, but an individual and almighty force that is chosen by fate. The dogs are not all that spiritual but you could say that the pack leader(s) are something of an "idol" to them. The leader is chosen in a fight between two dogs. A leader is not chosen until one dog surrenders or is too injured to continue fighting. If a dog is killed intentionally or unintentionally in one of these fights then the opposing dog will suffer great consequences, as this is considered incredibly unlawful. The killer will be immediately demoted to the lowest rank and will continue there until he/she has proven to be moral again.
As the reigning leader is quite important, there are consequences for defying them. The dog will suffer any punishment that will humble them and surely make them think before they act. No extensive physical harm is to be performed by the leader, but most acts of dominance are accepted. An important characteristic of a leader is to be able to prove their dominance over and over again until they do not have to do so anymore.
When hunting, the dogs have no orderly fashion of performing things, except when they are beginning/finishing the hunt. When going in, the highest-ranking dog will lead, and when returning to the camp, he/she will lead the patrol once again. A lower-ranking dog leading the charge is a sign of defiance, but not too serious, if it is for good reason, such as taking down large or bountiful prey.
Lower-ranking dogs have less privileges, such as the first pick of food, and better blankets, supplies, and dens. The leader is the only dog who is permitted to wear an animal skin and it is normally one of great value, such as deer or other large prey. The dogs have a very strange culture when it comes to clothing—in that they wear it at all. Isolated to come up with their own ideas, the dogs have exceeded the human idea of their intelligence.
The lowest-ranking dog is the Omega, but when a dog from another pack, trader, etc. somehow finds its way into the borders, the Omega is considered higher in rank than them. Dogs from the outside are treated with only as much respect as the Omega gets when behaving well, and that is not a lot. Pack-to-pack dealings that are direct are unusual and normally not a possibility, so this is uncommon; messengers and traders do all the work for the rest of the pack. The secret code is "little donut". The most valuable items when trading are pelts/hides, food, jewelry and garments for leading dogs, regular supplies such as fine bedding materials that cannot be found in the wild environment (blankets, shirts, the like), and the rare special item that is somehow seen as valuable by the other trader.

ranks and joining. Here are the assorted ranks, from highest to lowest. Every official rank is fulfilled by at least one existing dog at all times. The optional ranks are pups and den-mothers. The U means "unfulfilled".
LEADER(S)—a dog and his or her possible mate who run the place. They name the mentors to lesser dogs.
BETA—the third/second leader who keeps closer control over the pack as the leader rules.
DEPUTY—one or two dogs who are in charge of patrollers and lesser dogs.
(GREATER) PATROLLERS—the patrollers are an interchangeable rank, switching between hunting, patrolling, and other assigned tasks. The (Greater) addresses the higher-up and senior patrollers.
DEN-MOTHERS (U) and PUPS (U)—an optional rank that occurs when a mother has pups/is pregnant.
MESSENGERS—they carry messages to other dogs not from the pack and are expected to be quick and efficient. Only the most fleet of foot dogs are eligible.
TRADER(S)—the trader(s) carry out deals from other traders that are part of the few seperate and large packs.
LESSER DOGS—these dogs, an undefined rank, are new joiners or younger dogs who are in need of teaching. They are assigned a higher-up "mentor" and then taught what they need to know about living the pack life.
OMEGA—the single lowest dog of the pack. Treated with no respect and the single dog which most dogs are dominant over. The Omega is not too badly physically harmed, considered too frail and lowly to be injured too much by strong, higher-ranking dogs. The Omega is given the most absolutely boring, menial tasks and the only way they can get out of them is to make their way up in the ranks. This can happen either when another dog is severely demoted, which means the Omega can become an "undefined" rank and the other dog can take their place; or when the Omega simply rises and becomes more dominant, which is considered unlikely. There is hope for every Omega, however.
HIERARCHY
The standard rule for the hierarchy is always leader(s), Beta, deputies, and then everybody else. When a dog does very well one day, he or she can have third pick of the prey, after the leader(s) and Beta. But most days, the dogs eat in a defined order that is to be expected: leader(s); Beta; deputies, from most to least seniority; den-mothers/pups, when existing; patrollers, from greatest to least in rank; messengers, in the same file; the trader(s), normally only one existing; lesser dogs, the dogs completely new to the pack going last; and then the Omega. The leader alone—not his or her mate—can decide who eats when, and will always have the first and only say. This applies not only to the time of eating, but anytime, anywhere.

ALLEGIANCES
LEADER—Solace
Name: Solace Age: 7 years Gender: M Rank: Leader Date of Birth: November 18th Breed: Australian kelpie Appearance/personality: Solace is a brown Australian kelpie with amber-colored eyes. Like most kelpie dogs, his coat has a pretty sheen to it and a rich hue. He has pointed ears and a tongue that often lolls out of his mouth when happy. He wears a single rough deerskin band around his front left leg, signifying his leadership. The fur is rubbed off underneath the band, leaving its permanent mark. Solace has a light stare that contradicts his deep voice. Solace is a rough dog sometimes without meaning it, but other times he also does. He has a long, confident stride and has toughened up much, more than prepared to do what he must do to keep everyone in order. He does not find it difficult to make pack bonds in order to keep everything together, if that's what it takes. However, Solace is less involved with the higher ranks than the rest of the pack, and that gives him a large weak spot. He has a soft spot for young humans and pups and upholds morals that he would never harm or kill a young pup or human, as it is a "violation of all decency"—again giving him a weak spot and a disadvantage to more brutal dogs. History (can be brief) Solace was owned by a family with three children, before their home was taken away and the parents suddenly disappeared—as did the children. Originally Solace was meant to be set up for adoption but he struck quite a disagreement with the authorities, so was instead scheduled to be put down. However, he was eventually forgotten amidst larger crimes so he escaped, later gnawing his collar off and burying it next to his den. (GREATER) PATROLLERS—Bambi
Name: Bambi Age: 3 years Gender: F Rank: (Greater) Patroller Date of Birth: August 12th Breed: Vizsla Appearance/personality: Bambi is a long-legged female Vizla with wiry muscle in her torso and a strong stride. She has reddish-bronze, smooth fur with a hard texture and dark eyes. Bambi has a rambunctious personality and only submits to those she must. She hates being demeaned and acts her best around superiors so that she will never be embarrassed in front of her pack. Bambi addresses everyone as "sir" or "ma'am" and gushes respect so that she will have more opportunities to go up in the ranks. She has a quick wit and is quick to act but when hunting is the bulk—and strategy—all at once. Bambi never thinks twice, and learns only from experience. Hopefully she will become wiser with age. History (can be brief): Bambi was born to a purebred litter intended for show. She was the largest of the litter and the meanest, and several folks considered buying her for her strong, pure features until they discovered how feisty and rude she was to the other dogs—and often to her handlers. Bambi escaped soon enough from the kennel after digging a small hole under the fence and slipping through. Bambi ran with a big city pack for a while, about a year, and became mates with the leader in hopes of ranking up. When things got weirdly committed Bambi felt that too much pressure was on her and she fled to the woods, entering her current pack with about as much grace as a beetle struggling on its back. Bambi was a Lesser Dog for several months until she got the opportunity to hunt once, impressing the higher-up dogs with her kills—bucks, does, even a horse once—you name it. Bambi was ranked up after proving herself fully and it was then that she took on a new ferocity. Having learned to work in a pack, Bambi thought she had it all.
