Brittle forest undergrowth rustled as a flurry of legs whipped the frosty grass and fallen leaves aside. The fuzzy golden-brown shape of a young wolf was swiftly bolting along the edge of the treeline, just a few yards away from the bank of the small, glimmering river, her fluffy, dark tail streaming out behind her. She skidded suddenly, almost to a sudden stop, as a smaller, bushy brown shape scurried in front of her. Knowing the squirrel would speed up with a predator nearby, the she-wolf scrambled after her new prey, quickly regaining speed and letting her tongue loll out one side of her mouth to taste the crisp autumn air. Sadly, the squirrel was simply too fast and determined for the wolf to keep up with. After a minute the squirrel gave up on trying to lose its pursuer and leaped up to the trunk of a nearby tree, chattering loudly in triumph as it climbed up to a low branch. The wolf, now panting - more with frustration than exhaustion, for she had great stamina - bared her teeth and gave a low, disappointed growl as she skidded to another stop and glared up at her escaped prey with narrowed green eyes.

However, this chattering back and forth was over rather quickly as a blur of brown and gray leaped and literally grabbed the squirrel from the branch and landed beside the she-wolf, looking back at her with glinting gray eyes, before jumping off into the underbrush. Turns out there was a small rise behind the tree, just enough for another wolf to run up, jump and get the squirrel.

(Oooo *triggered* X’D)
The wolf flinched, pinning her ears back as this happened. Afterwards she stared with wide eyes and open jaws at the branch where the squirrel had been, her gaze slowly trailing down to the ridge where the ambushing wolf had come from. Releasing a growling huff, she shook her head and broke into a run, quickly detecting the other wolf’s scent-trail to go after them.

The wolf kept running, obviously strong and used to the forest environment, and obviously set on evading the pursuing wolf so it could enjoy the meal. Bounding over a lot the wolf rounded a corner and kept running.

Although born in a forest like this herself, the golden-brown she-wolf clearly didn’t have flawless athletic skills. It didn’t stop her from chasing what she considered a prey-thief, though. Clumsily she turned and kept bolting after the other wolf, her tail lashing occasionally and little growls escaping her throat every few exhales as she pushed herself to catch up - which wasn’t necessarily too hard considering she was a surprisingly fast runner, unless she stumbled, which was pretty common for her.

The wolf chanced a glance back and saw the she-wolf still on the chase. “I got this fair and square!” The wolf barked, obviously a male by his voice. He tried to push himself faster and he kept running.

“I was chasing it before you even knew it existed!” The she-wolf barked irritably in retort, snarling with frustration and still trying to run faster and faster. But soon enough one of her paws skidded over a half-buried pinecone in the ground, and she fell face first with a bark of fright, tumbling onto her side and rolling a couple times until she was lying dazed on the ground. Heartbeats later though, the undergrowth trembled again as the she-wolf staggered up to a sitting position, panting and growling irritably.

Sry))
The male looked back and stoped when he was in a safe spot and sneered. “Oh really? Then why was I so conveniently placed to snatch it like I did. I was watching you and waiting until that happened. You wouldn’t have gotten it. This prey is mine.” He woofed as he began bounding away again.

The she-wolf barely heard enough of what the male said to huff indignantly as she got to her paws, fuming. Deciding that she wouldn’t be able to reason with him even if she could catch up to him again - not that she wanted too with how pompous he was acting in her opinion - she instead clawed at the soil to release her tension, not even bothering to clean her dusty paws off as she started to pace around in tight little circles, huffing and cursing under her breath. After a minute, she stopped and sat down in a hunched manner, her right side holding up most of her weight from her position. Her ears flicked up and down with pent up energy as she glared thoughtfully at the ground, her stress making her forget to keep her senses pricked for more prey.

(Find some way for them to meet up again and actually interact? X’D)
Awhile later, the she-wolf has returned to the stream - still with a empty belly - and was crouching by its bank, cautiously eyeing the sparkling water in case she noticed any small fish swimming around. It would hardly even be enough to even hold her over for very long, but at least she could try and catch something. Her bushy tail swept the ground behind her, scattering around a few fallen yellow and brown leaves. Sunlight shone between the trees above her, dapplibg her golden-brown coat, which although still pretty short was sticking out as it’s winter layer was starting to grow in.

Suddenly, a furry brown shape came flying in an arch and landed beside her, a plump squirrel almost the same size as the one she nearly had before. Across the stream, the male was sitting and looking at her, tail still but posture calm.

The she-wolf jumped backwards in alarm, briefly mistakening the thrown prey for a small attacker. Her ears perked straight up in surprise as she realized it was just a dead squirrel, but as soon as she noticed the male watching her she tensed and narrowed her eyes, half-expecting a sudden attack.

The male looked at her and raised a brow. “Since you think I stole your prey i wanted to set things right. Now eat. You’re obviously hungry.”

The she-wolf blinked a couple times before looking over at the squirrel, pawing it over to herself and returning her confused gaze to the male as she slowly bit in, her muscles still tense with unease although she visibly perked up a bit at the taste of meat flooding her jaws.

After a couple more bites, the she-wolf seemed to have moved her focus completely to the meal. Her tail swept the ground again, wagging as she continued to eat and finished after a couple minutes, starting to lick extra bits of meat off her chops the moment she pulled her head away from the squirrel.

The wolf nodded in response while still licking her chops. After a moment her ears flattened slightly as she gave the male another curious look.

The she-wolf tensed again, blinking. “What are you gonna do?” She asked warily, her tail twitching.

The wolf raised an eyebrow slightly, still tense but now appearing more curious than wary again. “Okay..?” She huffed, still watching him.

He nodded and wagged his tail a bit. Bunching up his muscles he easily leaped across the stream and landed on the bank and casually strolled up to her. “I’m Asher by the way.”

The wolf’s ears pricked. “Oh. Right.” She huffed, quickly getting to her paws. “I’m Bee.” She introduced herself bluntly with a wag of her bushy tail, which had dark brown fur from about midway point of her tail’s length. Her fur, just beginning to grow out its winter layer, was mainly golden-brown, except for the brown-black streaks on her sides and forehead, as well as a sharply curved stripe below each eye that along with the jagged streaks down her forehead gave her an intimidating sort of beauty. She was a tad smaller than average and her build was rather compact. As she blinked over at Asher expectantly, awaiting his response, her green eyes sparkled, the right eye appearing darker in color than the left.

Asher looked over Bee and smiled a little. “Well it’s nice to meet you Bee.” he woofed as he looked back up at her muzzle. He was a bit bigger than her, with a strong build made for powerful strides and bounds. His fur was dark silver, but had flecks of brown dappling his back and sides, with a white belly and bottom of his neck. His muzzle was a light gray and he had dark brown eyes, with pointed ears that were brown at the tips.
