"worth a shot, if it isn't locked we can try and hide in a dorm until it's done?" Crispin follows after Calaer. He had no doubt Gwen would follow if he did, but he looks over his shoulder to make sure and offers her a small grin, "It'll be fun right, you always want me to be adventurous." Gwendolyn gives him a weak smile. “Finally, you’re getting it,” she teases Cris, reaching up and ruffling his hair. She chewed on her lip, creating a little indentation as she worked through it. The light summoner looks warily back behind her; recently, as her power grew, it seemed like the shadows were haunting her more. She couldn’t explain it, it was just a feeling.

Here's my dragon boi if anyone wants to rp. I might switch some stuff later, but this is the basics)
Akira King -- 17 -- Male -- Dragon Hybrid Transmutation -- He has the ability to shift specific parts of his body into that of a dragon. Examples include shifting his hands into claws, wings on his back, teeth into fangs, and others. He can, for now, only shift one part at a time. He is incapable of fire, which his mother had the ability to spit. Shifting his body causes great pain since he is changing his bone and body structure. -- Akira stands at a slightly taller than average height. He has sharp red eyes that have slits instead of pupils. His hair is a strawberry blond sort of color and he has tanned skin. Akira will normally wear comfortable and lose fitting clothing. When he is in gym or in a class where he will need to use his ability he has to wear clothing that shows a fair amount of skin. His back has to be almost bare so he can use his wings, and his arms have to be free so he can use his claws. When in his fully human form he has slightly sharper than usual canine teeth and his finger nails are sharpened into points. -- Akira in a sense, is a very crude, arrogant, and aggressive person. Much like his dragon ancestry he has a fiery personality and a bloodthirsty and brutal sense humans don't tend to have. While not the most emotionally stable of students Akira knows when to act out and when to stay quiet. He's very prideful and has to be the best at anything he does. He pays attention in classes and studies. As he is getting older he is showing to be more solitary and disinterested in others. He has a good pain tolerance due to using his ability most of his life. Pain is only second hand for him. Akira is not fond of water which may seem cliche, but is due to his fire dragon ancestry. -- His name may seem weird for a dragon, but his father died before he was born so his moter decided to name him after his Japanese father. His last name was one thought up on the fly because dragons don't really have last names. Bisexual. -- Sparkscatter -- Room 10))

Cris frowns at Gwen and follows her gaze. They'd have to talk. If he it was what he thought it was, then maybe he could say something to help comfort her. He doesn't like the skin on skin contact all that much if he can help it, but it was a good way to help a nervous friend. He snatches her hand and pushes his feelings to her. Calm, worried, but comforting. "Hey. We're almost there." They were at the bottom of the stairs. Crispin peeks his head around the corner and sure enough, there's no one down there. "Coast is clear." He tugs Gwen forward and the group shuffles up to the door. "Uh... Calaer... you want to do the honors?"

Calaer nodded, "Give me a second..." he started to look around the door and test the knob. It didn't budge, but that was to be expected. Next he kneeled in front of it and put his hand to it. There was a light flash of blue light as he sent some electricity through it. He had yet to find a legit way of testing for magic, with his ability at least, and found this was the best way. "Looks like we got lucky, there's no magic locking the door." he flicked his wrists and suddenly had some lock picks in his hands.

"I guess the rumor about them not locking the door wasn't quite true though." He peers over Calaer's shoulder and quirks his brow. "....Do I want to know where those locks came from, or why you have them on you?" He was figuring he probably didn't want to know the answer to either of those questions, actually. Both of these two were too good at sneaking around, Crispin was definitely the under skilled one here.

He got the lock picks a lot like he made the wires, but that was a hassle to explain so he simply just said "Nope. All you need to know is that the skill comes in handy." he looked the lock over, deciding what type it was and what kind of shape it was in. For a fancy school they sure used locks that were easy to unlock. He guessed that came with the fact they could lock stuff with magic and didn't have to worry about the physical lock.

"alright," Crispin laughs and moves to lean against the wall, "do you do this often then? Breaking into areas of the school that you aren't supposed to be in?" Crispin's ability was definitely not useful in this situation. Unless there was some sort of creature down there he could easily overwhelm with some anxious emotions.

OOC: Sorry!
IC: Maverick was being somewhat cautious as he left his dorm. He, obviously, had been hiding the snake egg from the rest of the school so as to avoid it getting confiscated or anything. The way he got the egg was through a deal with someone he met not too long ago. When he heard his name being spoken he just about jumped and looked over at the boy, just seeing that it was only the boy from the dorm right next to him. "Oh hey! Uh, Oliver isn't it?" He asked, putting a smile on his face as he looked over at the boy, only a year younger then he was. He assumed roughly that at least.

Gwendolyn squeezed Cris’ hand gratefully. She was a bit shocked when he took it, as he wasn’t the touchy-feely type, but was thankful when she felt a bit of calm overtake her stormy emotions. She took in a deep breath; it wasn’t like there monsters down there. And besides, she was actually excited for what they’d discover. The summoner held a tiny thread of light in her palm, getting ready for the dark of the school basement.

Aleksandra Starkov -- 29 years old -- Female -- Black cat/Human hybrid Transmutation -- Professor Starkov can change people’s luck. She can change your luck from good to bad if she has the itch to do just that. Her power may seem laughable, but it most certainly is not. Do just the wrong thing, and you may find yourself with the worst luck for the rest of your life or for the next week, depending on Starkov’s mood. That being said, the more Starkov changes people’s luck, something bad always befalls her, almost as if karma is getting her back. -- Starkov is quite beautiful, having wavy dark auburn hair that falls to the nape of her neck and pale, creamy skin. Her black cat side may not manifest itself as much as other people’s hybrid sides do, but you can see it in her eyes. Starkov’s eyes are a vivid emerald green, with pupils that can slit to as thin as a needle. She also has claw-like silver nails that are always sharpened to the point of a knife. She is very slender and is lean, being 5”7, with a slim figure. She wears minimal makeup, selecting a bold lipstick and mascara to accentuate her cat-like lashes. Starkov will usually wear bohemian silks and flowy clothing with jewel tones. -- Starkov is very kind, but sharp. She is a very brilliant teacher, not just in terms of just intelligence, but personality. She doesn’t miss anything in her classroom, and will dole out punishments if needed. She has a bold, colorful personality sharpened by witty remarks. She has a mild temperament, but will act if she gets to her boiling point. She is always willing to help a student in need, and is a coffee addict. She cannot stand tea. Starkov is fiercely loyal to her students and has sworn not to use her power on them - - N/A -- @pinacolada -- History and Physics of Magic (I love this OC and can’t wait to use her!) Calaer finally started to work on the lock. It took him maybe three minutes before the lock let out a gentle click and he twisted the knob to the side, pushing it open with a squeak. Inside it was dark, the only light coming from a few lights that flickered around the room. There must be monitors or something down there.

Rowlin Willow -- "N/A" -- Male -- Vampire Transmutation -- Able to manipulate illusions, he can carefully focus on an individual, or group, warping their field a view as a means of defense. His secondary ability allows him to distort his own reality, to become a shadow or certain parts of his physical being, to phase through obstacles; an ability he cannot use in direct sunlight or risk burning to ash. Upon entering a five meter radius, his illusions intensify, allowing him to physically impact a target.-- Rowlin's childlike appearance will more often mistake him for a seventeen year old student both among students and co-workers. His illuminating emerald colored eyes, and messy out of bed once brushed long red hair do not help much with trying to appear more of his age. His preference of dressing is suits in both light grey, black, or navy blue. His buttoned up shrts vary colors, commonly violet, and white of short and long sleeves. Along his right index finger, he wears a custom emerald ring, and other ocasions an emerald bracelet along his left hand as a restriction from entirely distorting his own reality.-- Rowlin is an optimistic individual always pushing for a positive, cheerful environment. He is passionate about the materials he teaches. --When not committed, he will spend time with his best friend Jake. He is also skilled in hand to hand combat, preferring the up close, rather then distant firing. -- ShiningDiamond -- History and Psychology
Jake Silverwood -- "N/A" -- Male -- Werewolf Transmutation -- Having the enhanced vision, speed, and strength, he rarely has the need to shift into his wolf counterpart. His wolf takes on the form of a red-wolf: smaller, slender, gray-black, with a reddish cast. -- Standing at 5'10, he may unintentionally tower over others at a glance. On the other end, it may be his calm appearance, that brings a strict uninviting feeling. He has long wavy blond hair, which he brushes the majority of it towards one side, and his eyes are green. His preference in dressing is black jeans/dress pants, with a white buttoned up long sleeve, or short sleeve. For asthetics he wears a black scarf wrapped around his neck, and a grey trench coat, with sleeves typically rolled up near his elbows. -- Jake is a calm composed individual, even when thrown into the heart of chaos. Despite his calmness: he can appear socially awkward at times. He is rather protective of his allies,it may vibe off as the annoying helicopter parent. Due to his calming nature, he may speak out his inner thoughts directly, rather then holding back. Outside of work, when not committed he is accompanying Rowlin. -- Proficient at hand to hand combat, but better off firing rounds through various artillery. He wont hesitate to volunteer when given to opportunity to assist in physical outdoor activities.- ShiningDiamond -- Math and English

"Uh...Gwen?" Crispin squeezes her hand again, "I think this is-" he winces, "-your time to shine, Eh?" He can feel the nervousness building up in her and he pokes his head past the door. It was kind of chilly in there. Maybe this was just some sort of...storage area? "Who...goes first?"

“I will,” Gwen muttered, choosing to ignore Cris’ puns, shuffling her way up to the front of the group. She picked up multiple threads of both artificial and natural light. She expanded her little light, making it to the size of roughly a football. She hovered it above her palms, and took in a shuddering breath. “Okay. Let’s do this.” The light cast a warm glow as she descended down the steps, each footfall resulting in a creak. They had made it down, and Gwen widened her hands, making the ball of light bigger and sending it to hover in a corner of the room. The ligh summoner peered around the room curiously.

Calaer followed her in, looking around. The room was small and what seemed to be some sort of security room. Strange spot for it, Calaer noted mentally. There were multiple monitors around the small room and another door that had another lock on it leading what seemed to be even lower. Perhaps that's where they'd find more answers. For now though he took the time to look around the room they were currently in "That's a handy ability you have there, just make sure not to get caught using it in the halls."

"Isn't the myth for the basement that there's a dragon down here?" He pushes one of the chairs away from the monitors and leans over to look at the screen. Huh. Well. Some of it was security camera for upstairs, but some of it was just showing feeds from darker hallways and dimly lit stairs. He eyes the door curiously. Was there a magic lock on that one? He makes his way to it and presses his ear against the door. He certainly couldn't... hear anything?

“Professor Starkov always teased me nichev’yo were down here,” Gwendolyn said, sitting at one of the plastic chairs in front of a monitor, peering at the glowing screen in front of her. Nichev’yo has been something mythical from Professor Starkov’s homeland, a weird place called Ravka. They were shadow creatures that had sharp teeth and claws. She gave an involuntary shudder, the light flickering as she did so. On one of the monitors, an application named the ‘Mortality Doctrine’ had an open tab. “Odd,” she muttered.

Calaer was about to unlock the door when the sounds of voices was heard inside the hall way. He froze, a split second of fear running through him. Who was coming down the halls at this time? Another voice spoke and he recognized this one. It was Winberon "Guys," he hissed "Looks like our time is up."

Gwendolyn silently got up from her chair, immediately letting the light wink out. She felt around herself carefully, climbing under one of the monitor’s desk. She knew that if they got caught, they would probably be expelled at the very least. “That assembly must be over,” she whispered to Caelar in return. “Hide as well as you can.”
Aleksandra hurried down the hallway, her seven-inch heels clicking down the hallway. She hummed tunelessy to herself, wanting to get back to her on-campus living space and her beloved Keurig. She passed the basement doorway and the headmaster Wimberdon. The hybrid paused as her sensitive hearing caught something. Voices. “I think people are down there,” she said, confused and wary.

"It's too early for that. They must be here for another reason. I wonder what's going on." he replied. He dove behind a desk and moved a chair to more or less cover himself.
Winberon looked at her and shrugged "Must be some students who are finishing up the tours. I was asked by the Headmaster to put the magical lock in place, so I must excuse myself." he had no magical ability, but even he could put up a charm like that.

Crispin was a little less composed. If they were caught this would definitely be on his record, and he didn't even want to think about what would happen. There was nowhere to hide in this room, not even any sort of book cases to cram themselves into. "There's nowhere to hide-" He presses up against the door, "Calaer is there a magic lock on this door? Couldn't we just go in there?" He hopes his voice is quiet enough, he's figuring that might not be the case though. Oh boy. Oh Great. This is why he didn't do this stuff! He hurriedly drops down and crams himself under the tables and curses a mantra of 'great great great great-' to himself. Could Gwen make a burst of light bright enough for them to duck away while the teachers were distracted? Or maybe Calaer could fry the computers-wait not helpful. Could he make them feel something to distract the teachers?! Maybe if he was less panicked he could think.

“Hmmm...” Aleksandra wasn’t convinced, so she tried the door. It swung open with a soft creak. The professor descended carefully down the steps, not waiting for Wimberdon, her heels clicking with every pressed weight. She made her way to the monitor room, before clucking her tongue and exiting out of the Mortality Doctrine application. She clicked on the lantern in the room, filling the space with light. She looked underneath the desks, sensing that people actually were here. She was right; with a sigh, she motioned the students out. “I know you guys are here.”
Gwendolyn muttered a curse under her breath and clambered out. At least it was Professer Starkov; she was a bit less strict than the others, probably because of her age. The light summoner prepared for a lecture and an escort to the headmaster’s office.

Calaer hesitated. Perhaps he could set the monitors up in electricity. That would buy him a few seconds. This wasn't his first punishment, and if he got caught again the chances of him getting out scott free were at most twenty percent. He reached out slowly and touched one of the wires. The monitors and lights in the room flickered a second and suddenly went dark. He shot forwards and out of the door. It wasn't like he could make the situation worse for himself. Plus the rush that came with doing something crazy was addictive.
