//carefully walks in
tbh not a lot, but I have the basic part of what I need, I just don't know how to do a transparency white layer over a picture/gif to write on so that the letters are seen over the picture and not getting lost in the picture

First, we'll do the opaque (almost transparent) text background.

First, focus on the opacity tag. Opacity being the transparency level, and tag being the "rule" that creates it in the code.Here's the coding. The tag where you change opacity is bold and italicized. The higher the number, the more solid it becomes.<div style="background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/3Kjgfe2.jpg);background-position:center;width:500px;height:200px;margin:auto;padding:10px;border:solid #ffffff 7px;font-size:3;text-align:center;"]<div style=" opacity:.5;border-bottom-left-radius:40px;border-top-left-radius:80px;margin:auto;padding:10px;padding-left:20px;height:93%;width:300px;background:#ffffff;"]<b]<font size="5"]<font color="000000"]words go here[/div] </div]</div]

If you copy and paste the code, all the tag carrots < > need to become brackets [ ]

How would I go about centering it?

There's three ways that I do it. The first way is margin, which sets the body as far as you want. See it in the code ::<div style="background-image:url(http://eskipaper.com/images/scary-black-cat-wallpaper-1.jpg);background-position:center;width:500px;height:200px;margin:auto;padding:10px;border:solid #ffffff 7px;font-size:3;text-align:center;"]<div style="background:white; margin:35px;padding:35px;text-align:justify;color:white;line-height:1.5;font-family:bookman old style;opacity:0.6;"]<font size="2" color="#000000"]text goes here[/div][/div] The second way is to just use spaces ::

[div style="background-image:url(http://eskipaper.com/images/scary-black-cat-wallpaper-1.jpg);background-position:center;width:500px;height:200px;margin:auto;padding:10px;border:solid #ffffff 7px;font-size:3;text-align:center;"][div style="background:white;margin:35px;padding:35px;text-align:justify;color:white;line-height:1.5;font-family:bookman old style;opacity:0.6;"]text goes here[/div][/div]
[div style="background-image:url(http://eskipaper.com/images/scary-black-cat-wallpaper-1.jpg);background-position:center;width:500px;height:200px;margin:auto;padding:10px;border:solid #ffffff 7px;font-size:3;text-align:center;"] [div style="background:white;margin:35px;padding:25px;padding-left:100px;"text-align:justify;color:white;line-height:1.5;font-family:bookman old style;opacity:0.6;"]text goes here[/div][/div]
for fun;;

Sorry, the internet's really slow. I switched to my phone. The last way is the div align tag, but I don't know if it will work. It sometimes does. You simply add <div align="center"]
Like I said, it might not work. I haven't figured out why yet

Nice, btw. Looks like you got it. Oh, almost forgot!
There's a padding tag as well. (If you add it to the first div where the pic is, it might work; I have yet to try it)
You have to stick it into the div tag as part of the div style
<padding-left: 100px;]
