So I kind of want to do a fantasy rp and I'm torn on exactly what I want to do. I have three sort of general ideas, so it's up to anyone who wants to participate which one they'd want to do.
For participants, I'm looking for people who are semi-lit/literate. By this I mean you have good grammar, are capable of writing a lot if necessary (even if you usually don't), are good at creating and playing fairly realistic characters (at least as far as personality and abilities go), and can generally contribute to the plot and story in a meaningful way that doesn't delve into needless drama. Post length, of course, will vary a lot depending on the situation... in slower moments, it could be a quite a few paragraphs, while during things like conversation or combat, posts would be shorter. Really, part of literacy is being able to gauge how long a post actually needs to be for that particular situation.
Now, for the theme. For any of them, I would prefer it to be a bit more of a "mature" rp in the fact that it wouldn't be "rainbows and fairies" type fantasy... it would be something a bit more dark and gritty, at least at times. Not to say that rainbows and fairies won't have their part, but there will likely be some darker themes present as well. Nothing forum-inappropriate, of course, but death and tragedy and mild gore will abound.
For idea one, it's a pretty mundane sort of medieval setting. The concept: knight trainees. The characters are young (probably mid teens-early twenties) and are trying to become knights for a certain order in their kingdom. This could go a couple of ways even in itself... the order is either mostly for show, and the knights do tournaments and such, or they're more practical and fight monsters or whatever. Or, perhaps some mixture of both. In this, the setting would have very little magic (what magic is there would be mostly present with the monsters they'd fight), and the characters would be pretty much exclusively human.
For idea two, a far more "fantastic" setting. In this one, the fate of the world hangs in the balance (as it always does in these sort of stories), and our characters are put to the task of saving it by some kind of power, or perhaps by chance. Or perhaps it's not the entire world, but the kingdom, or the city, or the queen... either way, something and is danger, and we are saving it. This one would be a bit more of a "standard" fantasy in that it would be "heroes get together to fight big bad and save x."
Finally, one which is similar in setting to the first, but not quite as "life or death." This would be a bit more of a casual adventure. In this concept, our characters come together most likely of their own volition... perhaps adventurers looking for a long lost artifact, or hopeful warriors looking to rebuild a dead guild, or just a rag-tag group of people who found themselves in some sort of pickle and have to work together to get out of it. Of course, this one could fairly easily turn into the previous one if the characters make a name for themselves over time and are eventually called upon to save the kingdom or whatever. Or, perhaps in their adventures just stumble upon something they shouldn't have. Either way, it could basically be like the second idea but with slower build. Or not, maybe they just mosey around and never do anything of fantastic importance.
So, would anyone be interested in something like this? Any ideas to contribute?
