”Who is Aspida?” Shadow questioned, her mistrustful gaze flickering, as she backed up, “Is it a shade? Someone new?” Oh goodness, that trusting stuff would probably never go away, she literally hissed at Ollie then, “Well, I’m not going down so easy!”
(Shadow’s mistrustful and kind of sad, due to the abuse she encountered. Aspida is just sarcastic, cruel, but mischevious. Lennox is a smol bean who needs to be protected.
Also, lemme just say, Maxwell’s reactions to her are adorable.)
”Well, sorry to break it to you,” Aspida mentioned, walking back into Holly’s old room. “But I don’t practice magic anymore,” she snapped, using levitation to lift the spellbook and haphazardly throwing it at a table. “I’m meant to fight, and be an object to hurt people. If you want to do good in the world, you shouldn’t exactly befriend the person that ended one.” She pointed out.
Lennox didn’t seem to notice his reactions. She trotted, snickering slightly as her paws hit the ground, before looking back at Maxwell with big, wide, adorable eyes. She then looked away, bashfully. Oh, she felt like a nuisance, but she assured herself that they were friends. Noticing the light, she took a little running start, jumping into the air, before turning into a Phoenix, though her wings seemed to only look like fire rather than actually be on fire. Black marks still lined her body, and those eyes remained scarlet, an unchanging thing, it seemed. She flew around, landing on Maxwell’s shoulder with a smile, “You showed off earlier, I felt like I had to too!”

(Dun dun dunnn! Four! Four animal transforming characters!) --- (Heheh. Yep. Even though wild black footed ferrets are pretty much extinct. Yeah. Research can add fun additions to roleplay. :3 Hey, it's completely fine. I've been poofy as poofiness. There's no rush. ^^)
The ferret darted to one side, transforming in the blink of an eye into his bipedal form. He drew and swung his sword as he lunged past the wolf, spinning around to face him again a few metres away. He looked more like a human now, complete with a cloak and a long silver sword. His body however, still held the colouring of a ferret. Though his legs could not be seen, they were bent like a ferret's, not like a human's. --- "Okay... If it's for yo' heart." Pip conceded, wiping the tears from her face. "Can I still ride on you?" she asked, looking up at him with hopeful eyes. She liked to be close to him. Even though hanging around him was dangerous, she felt safe near him. --- (Aw thanks. You as well!)
Blink couldn't help but chuckle when she dropped into the water. So she had a plan after all. He didn't know why he had been worried. Yeesh. With the workings of Fernando and Hornet, he was becoming soft. When she wrapped her arms around his torso, he felt himself stiffen. It wasn't the same as Hornet's touch, but something about it made him feel a wave of something he couldn't quite recognize. He didn't stop to think about it. He pressed the handles forwards and before he knew it, the jetski roared to life and they were flying down the river. It reminded him of his motorcycle. He could get used to this. --- "What? No! Aspida is Hollow! She wanted me to name her, and..." Ollie sighed, somewhat exasperated. He took a breath to calm down. "It's fine. We are safe down here. I'll get her later. I have to see the others now." Clutching his arm, he headed around the corner. "If she comes, will you make sure to introduce her to the others, so they know what's going on?"
(Ollie honestly feels very protective over Shadow because of that. He doesn't show it all the time, but he really does. Ollie personally has this urge to fix what is broken. When he sees brokenness, he feels this protective urge that wants to seal the break and lead to health and happiness. Perhaps it is because he feels his own sort of brokenness, and somehow, fixing someone else's will fix his own. Most of the role-play is him trying to figure out the best way go about doing that. This may be unrelated, but he misses Robin. He considered her like a sister, since they took him in. Haha. He's not much of a leader, and is more used to following or beeng on his own, so he has a lot to figure out. Aspida, to him, is mysterious. He wants to trust her. He wants her to open up. To feel "positively". To find hope. But he has a hard time understanding her.)

Zed leaned in, tapping his chin. He heard... the hum of an engine and... and the sound of water. The tone of engine should belong to a fast moving water vehicle. "Whoooo! YEAH! They made it! Those government cronies didn't know what hit them!" he cheered. Sounded like things were working out. Was he continuing to listen in on Blink using special bugs in his costume? Yes. Has he ever told Blink about it? ...No... And he wasn't planning on telling him for a very long time. Zed, unlike some people, rather enjoyed living. He didn't want to end it quite yet by spilling such a secret.
He'd been listening in ever since the first conversation with Katie, all the while, working on a "new project". This latest bit had him away from his project and crouched closer to the speaker as he cheered them on.

(Shadow is a follower who wanted to be a leader, who tried to be when everyone else expected her to be. Deep down, she knows she’s not made to be a leader or a fighter, but she’s caught up in this war and doesn’t want to be. She trusts Ollie because he reminds her of an old friends, but she doesn’t trust him because she’s afraid he’ll leave like everyone else, that she’ll lose him and the others if she gets attached.
Aspida is different. She’s forced to be dependent, despite her very independent and isolated nature, it’s ironic, and like torture for her. She’s controlled, but meant to be the controller. After having fallen to her death, her soul was trapped due to the bloodstone(which at times will be called the soulstone) and eventually Orion weaponized her to freeze time on the old world. For this fact, she blamed herself for everything that happened, and isn’t actually as depressed as many. But she doesn’t see any correlation between her and good, so she acts on her own self interests most of the time, she trust Ollie because she doesn’t name have a choice, and in that way, she trusts no one. The mutilated body was her own, a torture she locks away, and at times she is strangely distant. In the future, there will probably be times where she will try to be more like Holly, blaming herself too for that.
Lennox is sweet and naive. Unlike Shadow, she’s too trusting. She lives by a strange philosophy to always forgive when someone apologizes and to always give another chance. Deep down, she knows that some people are using her for their own interests, but she is so starved for attention and love, that she’s almost willing to do anything to get it. All her life, she’s been shunned due to her abilities and appearance, she sometimes mistakes terrible things as good. She’s childlike, but she’s not dumb. She’s a rather cunning creature, capable of deception if need be, but isn’t as hardened as many are, instead, she is always willing to leave the past behind, even if it will always haunt her.)
(I’ll probwbly respond in the morning, I’m going to wait until everyone gets responses up, that way I can do it all at once.)

The blade of the sword managed to cut the wolf's side but luckily for the wolf it wasn't deep enough to be life threatening. The wolf didn't care about the cut he had just received though. He was more focused on what the ferret had turned into. Seeing a humanoid creature appear from where the ferret had once been shook the wolf to it's core. He's like me he thought to himself as he looked over the creature completely. The wolf shook it's head to try and clear his head and figured maybe it would be a good idea to reveal his secret as the ferret had. At a much slower pace compared to the ferret, the wolf started to transform as he went from being a quadrupedal form to a bipedal one. He grew taller and taller until he was standing at almost 8 feet and his body shape became more humanoid as it's body shifted. His front paws turned into hands with long and sharp black claws on the end of each fingertip. His hind legs remained the same other than them becoming longer and the bone structure changing slightly but they were still bent just like a wolf's. His torso shifted into a more human one as his muscles became more defined. When the transformation finished he now towered over the ferret man and looked down at him with a piercing amber glare
Masaki chuckled as he clearly saw the hopeful look in her eyes "Fine just don't fall off this time" he said. Honestly, she reminded him of what a little sister would be and it didn't help that she was adorable without even trying to be. Masaki held out a hand so she could climb onto it so he could put her back on top of his head thinking that's where she wanted to go

(Shadow: Aw man. I always love hearing about your characters.) (Okay! That's fair. ^^) --- (And if anyone wants a rough reference to what any of my characters look like, check out The Lighthouse on the Art Forum. Pip doesn't have one yet, but I'll be making one for her soon.) --- The ferret man's yellow gaze widened, then quickly reflected the that of the wolf man's as he looked up. He remained crouched at the ready, not even attempting to try and meet the intimidating height of the wolf man. Unlike the wolf man's muscly form, the ferret was tall (almost 7 feet) and lean, but not without muscle of his own. So this was one of those creatures. It had been a very long time since he'd seen one. He had doubted they even existed anymore. "Sorry bud, ferret isn't on the menu today," he said with little expression on his face other than the glint in his eye.--- "Yay!" Pip hopped excitedly onto his hand and grinned up at him. "What's yo' name anyways?" All her warnings of how it was dangerous to get close to this hero had gone out the window now that he technically saved her life. After all, he said it himself, his heart cared for her. Would she come to regret this decision? Maybe. But right now, she didn't care.

"If you were a normal ferret you would still be on the menu but since you're something similar to me, I'd rather not kill you without provocation" The wolf said. If Farlow looked where the sword had cut the wolf, he would see that the wound was already starting to close. "Though I pray to God you didn't become like that in a way similar to me. I wouldn't wish that on even my worst enemies. Name's Ashton but just call me Ash" The wolf said
Masaki smiled as he raised his hand to the top of his head to let her down "The name is Masaki Noya. It's nice to meet you. What's your name?" he said as they started walking towards the place he and Boris had ended their fight

The ferret lowered his sword, but didn't sheath it quite yet. "Well then, Ash, you can call me Farlow." Farlow stood up straight, his yellow gaze calculating. It appeared Ash's wound was already healing. "You're saying you weren't born this way?" --- Pip settled amongst the white tufts of hair. "Ooh. That's a fun name. Masaki... Masaki!" she tried it out, trying to familiarize the name to her tongue. "Call me Pip!" Better that alias than him learning her real name.

A snarl appeared on Ash's face and a low and deep growl came from him "Hell no. Used to be a normal human until I was practically snatched off the streets. The experiments and tests they did on me were excruciatingly painful and it turned me into a freak of a human being" he said, the wolf's eyes closing as the painful memories played through his mind before he opened them again and looked at Farlow "What about you? You always been like that or were you experimented on as well?"
"Well it's nice to meet you Pip" Masaki said with a smile still on his face "So tell me, what are you doing around here by yourself in the first place? There's been a lot of action happening in these parts lately so I'm sure you're parents wouldn't let you go out alone especially after that incident earlier today"

Deeming the wolf no longer a threat, Farlow sheathed his sword. "So it was an unnatural change for you. It's sick, what humans do these days. I suppose in all times there'll always be someone who tries to mess with nature." He let out a breath. Sometimes it made him doubt his decision, but he had faith that there was hope yet in the human race. "Me? It's a generational thing. My father, my father's father, it goes far back." He frowned as he thought of the generational responsibility he had failed to uphold. --- Pip frowned at the mention of parents. "They won't care," she muttered. "Besides, I'm old enough to look after myself! What's life without a little action, right?" she added much more cheerfully.

little picture of Ash that I based his human form on) Ash realized Farrow was no longer a threat when he noticed that the ferret man had sheathed his sword. Ash had only used transformed into his werewolf form just in case things had turned south. Ash's body then started to shrink and become leaner as his body once again transformed. His legs straightened out and the fur started to recede as they became more humanoid. His face was the most noticeable change though. The muzzle receded into his face as normal human facial features formed. The wolf ears shifted down to the side of his head as they transformed into human ones. The fur receded from his face though there was still some on his cheeks that connected to his neck. Ash's entire torso was bare except for the shoulders and remaining traces on his pectorals. His arms were fairly unchanged compared to his previous form. The most noticeable differences were that his arms were much leaner and his claws were slightly shorter. When the transformation finished, Ash looked at Farlow with his amber eyes "You can say that again. Us humans are sacks of crap that will do anything to better our lives even if it costs another's" He said "But you're lucky it runs in your family. Makes me wish mine were natural because then I wouldn't have this freakish appearance" "Still surprising with everything that's been going on in this town. Though considering you've also got powers I'm sure you've got ways to protect yourself. You know, when my parents found out that I was going around 'playing hero' as they called it, they nearly killed me metaphorically speaking." Masaki said "A little advice from someone's who has been doing this for a few years, there is such thing as too much action. It never ends well for anyone involved when it becomes too much" (i had the whole thing typed up and then it all got deleted so I had to retype it all rip)

(Ohh! I remember seeing it when you were roleplaying with Artemis! Crazy good artwork. I wish I could draw that good. XD Thanks for the refresher. Maybe, if I get the time sometime, I might draw a picture of Masaki and Pip, and of Ash and Farlow.) (Aw man! That sucks. I know that can be kind of discouraging.)
Farlow leaned back against a tree and chuckled. "It was bound to happen with all the 'creativity' and thirst for power you humans display. Now you rule the world with an iron fist. I guess you got what you wanted. The era of animals has come to an end, not that we ever stood much of a chance against 'human ingenuity'. But... Despite your race's many faults... There is good there." He smiled then, just a little. Upon Ash's last comment, Farlow shook his head. "Don't be so sure. Natural doesn't always mean it will turn out the way you want it. I might have once been able to blend in with my kind, but it's not like I blend in very well with you humans." He brushed a hand over his ferret ears, one of the many signs left of his transformation. "They say that once my grandfather's ability kicked in, he was unable to hold a normal ferret form." He shrugged. "I might be more ferret than human, but it's different for each generation it passes to."
(Adjusting colour so it's more visible. ^^) --- Pip blinked in surprise when he didn't reprimand her. That was what most people did if she talked like that about parents. When he shared about his parents, she tipped her head slightly, but didn't share about her own. How peculiar, how they both were so similar, yet so different. "Have you evah wanted to stop? I mean, all the heroin'. All the action."

yeah i remember posting it way back then but I figured people just don't really pay much attention to the other rps for the most part) (oooooh i'd really like to see that)
Ash clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth "Highly doubt there's an actual good human around. If there is, I must have some pretty shitty luck considering I've never met one. Everyone that I've seen runs away as soon as they see me, though even I can understand why they do that, or they're hunters who try to kill me. But the way you're talking, it sounds like you've had a lot of interactions with humans. Have you ever met a truly good one?" He asked
Masaki nodded slightly "Yeah there's been a few times where I've thought about it. It usually only came up whenever something bad happened. There's been people who I couldn't save, people who have been inadvertently harmed due to my actions, there was even a time when a woman threw a rock at me and called me 'the spawn of Satan' after she saw my flames" he said "But I just want to help people so I just try to remember all the good I've done to try and help push myself forward"
(honestly I think I've made Ash more aggressive than he originally was lol but then again he was interacting with a little girl mostly)

(Heheh. I read EVERYTHING! Usually, unless scenarios provide against. :3 The drawings might not be for weeks, or a month or so, but one of these days. One of these days... ^^)
"I suppose you'd have a hard time seeing them up close without being noticed," the ferret mused, thinking of Ash's different forms. "Well... There was one who saved my life. I suppose that counts for something." Farlow sighed. "I owe him much, and I haven't even been around lately to repay him. Ever since he disappeared..." He shook his head. "Well let's say, I've relearnt a lot since then." He smiled to himself as he thought of people he might be able to define as good. "There was one guy. Manipulates fire. He barely even reacted to this form," he said, motioning to himself. "I have to say, that's a new one. Not often you come across those, even if he was going on something about revenge and honour." Then Farlow went silent for a time, and he scratched his ear. "What exactly do you consider a good human, anyways?" he finally asked, studying Ash now. It wasn't an easily answered question. Everything Ash seemed to list was based on fear, so in Ash's perspective, did fear make a human bad? --- Pip's eyes grew wide. "Did yo' heart hurt for them too?" she asked, leaning forwards from her position on his head. When he mentioned the woman throwing a rock, she couldn't help but snicker. "A rock?" In her mind, an itty bitty rock could be no match for Masaki's flames. "I woulda thrown a rock right back at her!" she exclaimed, sticking her nose in the air and crossing her arms. His last sentence made her facade falter. "But why keep doing it if it makes ya hurt? If it makes ya unhappy?"
(It's true though, whoever the character is communicating with makes a big difference to how they act.)

"Then it looks like I've got some shitty luck. Only makes sense seeing how I'm stuck like this. Starting to feel like I drew the short end of the stick in life" Ash said with a quick chuckle. "I can tell that you really respect the guy that saved your life. Have you been looking for him?" He asked "I can understand why the fire guy would want revenge. Not exactly a good emotion for a "good guy" to have. Still it's surprising he didn't react to you in a negative way" Ash said before he went silent "Getting into some philosophical crap now aren't you? I don't think someone can be completely good or completely bad. There is usually something that can redeem them even if just by a sliver. But I would expect a good person not to judge someone on their looks, is compassionate and caring, friendly, who will do the right thing even if no one is there to see it. There's probably more to it but that's all I can think of from the top of my head"
Once again Masaki gave a slight nod "When those people got hurt of course it did. Though I'd say it almost felt like a punch in the gut" he said before chuckling at her comment about the rock. Masaki went quiet for a moment as he tried to think of how to respond to her question "The reason why I keep doing it is because there are people out there who need someone to save them. I like to see smiles on people's faces and I enjoy watching the relief wash over their faces when they realize they don't have to worry anymore. Sounds stupid and cheesy, right?"

"So you want to be out there? With the humans?" Farlow questioned. Ash kept talking about how life sucked being what he was now. He supposed even though Ash was technically no longer fully human, he once was. "I did know where he was, but there's some crazy stuff going on in the city lately. I've lost track of him. He's pretty good a covering his tracks," Farlow huffed. He smiled when Ash described what a good person was. "Now that's what I want for the future," he mused, glancing in the direction he had been heading. The light was just breaking through the trees there, filtering down in dappled patterns. "There's definitely pieces of goodness out there. You just can't see it now, I suppose, because you get the surface level fear...... You really don't like being a wolf, do you?" --- Pip was silent for a time. "So that means you'll nevah stop. Because there'll always be anothah person in need. You'll keep hurting... fo' them. Because they make ya happy...?" She seemed to be really thinking about this. A few moments passed before she dared to ask her next question. "Sooo... What do you do to the- well, the bad guys?"

"Of course I want to be with the other humans but I can't looking like this. I lost 2 years of my life in that hellhole. Believe it or not I was a star running back for my school's football team. I had a future before it all got ripped out from under me by a bunch of selfish assholes." Ash said his lips curling into a snarl before his face relaxed and he let out a sigh to calm himself. "Wouldn't really know what's going on in the city since I pretty much spend my life here with the occasional trip to a gas station for jerky if I've been unsuccessful with hunting. Even then its just a quick in and out before things get to crazy and hectic. To answer your last question, it's complicated. It's got it's perks but the downsides just outweigh everything else. I'm stuck in a world between animal and human without being given the choice. I just miss the old days of going out and getting ice cream with friends. I miss playing football along with everything else that would have done during my highschool days." Ash said as he looked down at his hands before looking back up at Farlow "I do hope you find him though. Maybe you'll get the chance to return the favor to him soon"
Masaki chuckled "I mean I wouldn't say never. We do grow old after all so obviously there's going to come a time where I have to retire. But I'll keep being a hero as long as I can. But yeah, I'll keep on taking on that pain as long as it means that the people I save can smile for another day" He said "As for the bad guys, it honestly depends on what they've done. Really bad people who go around killing people usually get it the worst. I'll spare you the gory details for now. If it's something minor like pick-pocketing will get a little bit of a slap on the wrist. Say someone's stealing a purse, I'll probably knock 'em out cold before calling the cops to take care of it. Honestly, it's all circumstantial"

"In this form, I just use this cloak," Farlow said, flipping his hood up, which hid his face in shadow. "Then they see me not as a freak of nature, but a suspicious looking human." Farlow chuckled softly. Obviously, it wouldn't be the best way to make friends, but... "It has its perks." He flipped his hood back once more and tipped his head slightly at the mention of friends and ice cream. He wondered what this iced cream tasted like. Such a peculiar, dependant life these humans lived. He found himself rather fascinated by it. Football must be one of those ball games they play. Likely one where they use feet, hence the name. When Ash mentioned Farlow's master, Farlow looked out into the distance. "Yeah. Maybe..." There was something mysterious in the way he said it. --- Pip winced at his answers. "Oh," was all she said. Honestly, even getting the slightest disappointment from Masaki would be torture. Had he known all that she done, he probably never would have been as nice as he was. They'd likely have been enemies. It was only to be expected since he was a hero and all, but... she couldn't help but feel disappointed. "Hey, we ah' here. This was where- where ya started chasin' me," she commented suddenly, glad for the chance at a sudden change of topic. She jumped from his head and grew back to normal human size by the time she landed in a crouch on the sidewalk beside him. Standing up, she looked around at her surroundings. "What does this thing mean to ya, anyways? You said it meant a lot, but... why?"

i dont really have any characters open right now. Should really make another one) (wasn't expecting to see you on today Light. Thought you said you wouldn't be on on Mondays)
"I don't want to feel like I have to hide myself just to blend in. People will still avoid you even if you look dangerous or suspicious. I'm surprised a cop hasn't tried to stop you. They usually would unless they have and you take off before they can even talk to you" Ash said "But as you can see I don't have a cloak or pretty much any clothing at all. All I've got are these tattered pants and some underwear"
Masaki stopped walking as he started to scan their surroundings hoping that the sun would reflect off the metal or even just catch a glimpse of the necklace. Though when Pip asked the question as to why it was so important to him, a small frown appeared on his face as if the memory caused some pain "It's the last thing my father ever gave to me before he was murdered" He said in a strained voice
(only giving Ash those clothes so he's not running around nude all the time lol)

(I have Ringo open. :3) (Oh yeah. I suppose I did say that. I just get peeks here and there. Type some words here and there. Won't be incredibly active. This is the three hour gap of my day, so after this, I'll be gone until about 10:00 CST)
"A cop? Hm. I guess there was that one man... I don't know. I usually stay hidden in the quiet places. Whenever anyone does see me like this and does anything rash, I just-" He made a motion with his hand, as if he were striking something with his sword hilt. Then he shrugged. "I deal with it." Usually in a one on one situation, he could handle such a feat. Anything to keep them from pointing those... what were they called again? Guns, yes. That was the word. "I could pick one up for you on my way through, some time," Farlow commented. "Though if you'd rather just walk around scaring people in this form, that's your choice." --- Pip blinked, looking at Masaki. "You were close to your father? I thought he nearly killed you." Perhaps she didn't quite get what Masaki meant by figure of speech.

"I'd actually appreciate it if you did. Even if I don't go into town, I could always use it as a pillow or a blanket if I ever fall asleep in this form" Ash said "So tell me about this guy that saved your life. What makes him a good person and why do you respect him?"
"Course I was close to my father as much of a mischievous little devil I was as a kid. He was there for me whenever I needed him and was all I could ask for in a father." Masaki said his voice still strained as he talked about his father "My father wasn't really one to hit me never mind kill. The most he did was spank me if I ever did something bad as a little kid. When I told you that my parents wanted to kill me, I didn't mean that they literally wanted to."

Farlow huffed. "Well, for one, he saved me from the edge of existance. Since I owed him, I watched over him for a long time. Where I was before... well- lets just say it takes a toll on the mind. It wasn't until after he left that I remembered who I was. But in that time I lived with him, he lived a rather sad and lonely life. Yeah. Doesn't sound like the best person, does it? But he did it because he feared his own power. He feared the toll it took on other people, the toll it took on himself. He really cares, you know? He's made great strides since then, ever since meeting a girl named Holly. I believe he's finally getting ahold of using his power. But... The farther he goes, the more harm he does to himself. He has to realize there's only so far he can go." His yellow gaze grew distant again. "I don't know if he's quite ready." --- "Oh..." Pip frowned a little. "So you was exaggerating," she couldn't keep the sourness from her tone. She felt jealous of this relationship that Masaki spoke of. For a while, she'd thought that he was like her. Maybe not. She glanced at Masaki and noticed his unhappiness. Even if he had been close to his father, now his father was separated from him, just like hers was. Did that make him lonely? What would she do if someone she cared about was suddenly taken away from her? "What happened to da murderah?"

Ash clearly looked confused. He had no idea what he meant by being saved from the edge of existence meant but he thought that maybe it was like he almost killed himself and this guy talked Farrow out of it. "Must be a lot of people with powers then in that city if you keep running into them" he said "But your friend sounds like a decent person. Can't really determine if he's good or not without meeting him though. You're probably a little biased after he saved you. But what don't you think he's ready for?"
Masaki let out a small laugh "Course I was exaggerating, thats what a metaphor is. Why do you sound so disappointed about that? What did you want my dad to be the type of person that beat me black and blue?" He asked in a playful tone but that tone was quickly washed away when she asked about the murderer. "I tracked the damn bastard down myself. Police said they would find him but I couldn't sit around and do nothing so I went out with my mask on. I ended up getting lucky and found some thugs who knew a few things. One thing led to another and I had the bastard cornered. Still remember the way he cowered in the corner. Ended up giving him burns from the first degree all the way to the fourth."

Farlow noticed Ash's confusion, and huffed softly at himself. He supposed he was being rather vague. He considered asking what the wolf man was stuck on, but when Ash continued speaking, he just let it go. "There's a fair number out there. Society sure has changed." Farlow agreed. "Decent. Not perfect, but decent nonetheless." At Ash's last question, Farlow smiled at the thought. It was an unusually warm smile that matched his distant gaze. He was looking off in the direction he had been heading. "The future," he answered simply. --- "I dunno. It's just that ya kinda lied ta me." Pip mumbled, kicking at a stone and watching it clatter away. When he told the story, Pip looked up and watched him closely. "Did'ya kill him?" she asked when he finished. Perhaps she was a little too excited for the answer.

Ash looked surprised at the mention that there were more than just the two with powers "It really has changed. I doubt any of them are as freakish as me though." He said a tinge of sadness creeping into his voice. It seemed like he had gotten his hopes up but he quickly squashed it himself. He had let his hopes get the best of him too many times that he wasn't going to fall for it again. When Farrow answered his last question, Ash rolled his eyes "Could you be any more vague? Is there something that is going to happen to him in the future or do you not know?"
Masaki looked confused "How did I lie? Unless you count metaphors as a lie, I dont see how I lied at all" he said before answering her question "No I didn't kill him but I'm sure he wished I had. Ended up covering forty percent of his body, well what remains at least, in burns. Pretty sure he ended up losing an arm after the 4th degree burn I gave him there. Only reason why I didn't kill him is because I know my father would have told me off for it"

"Heh. You don't look that freakish to me. Other than the fact you are a higher class predator than I," Farlow chuckled. "No wonder people run away. They think you think they are food." His laughter grew when Ash rolled his eyes. Then his laughter faded and he merely smiled. "Maybe. Unless I find someone better suited for the job. Maybe one day I'll show you. That is- if you make me an absolute promise." --- Pip looked away and made a rather stubborn sound in her throat, not answering Masaki's question about lying. She looked at Masaki again when he answered her question. She didn't know what she'd do if someone she cared about was taken away from her. Perhaps her new friend? The one she promised to protect. The one who seemed to have given up wriggling in her pocket. If someone took him away... She might very well do something similar to Masaki. Maybe worse. "Ya didn't get caught?" she asked, assuming that the police wouldn't very happy at such action. They weren't happy with a lot of things. Herself being one of those things.

"Course I don't look like a freak to you when we are pretty much in the same boat" Ash said with a light chuckle "But that's probably all that runs through their heads. That or they're thinking I'm something like an escaped zoo animal so they got get away as fast as possible. Anyways why would I make a promise to you when we just met? It doesn't make much sense for me to do that. But I'm curious to know what this promise is"
"No though I was one of their primary suspects. I went wearing a hoodie and a mask so the guy couldn't see my face especially through all the pain he went through. There was nothing they could use to pin me to the crime so I ended up walking away. Plus the story he gave them was about someone who shot flames from his fingertips so they concluded that he might have been on some type of drug. I didn't really pay much attention to the guy after all that but I'm pretty sure he's in prison now for murder" Masaki said "Honestly that whole thing is probably the main reason I don't really call myself a hero. Vigilante would probably be the best word to describe me"

Farlow smirked, then chuckled quietly. "I mean, if you don't want to, that's your choice." His smile disappeared. "But I'm not going to to show you what I mean without it." His yellow gaze suddenly became piercing. "I travel through here a lot lately. If you don't agree, then we will have to become enemies. But I've come to believe you're a man capable of reason." He stared for a few more moments, as if giving time for the words to sink in. "Do you vow to pernamently keep ferrets off the menu?" he asked at last. "And I don't mean those pitiful human promises that no one ever keeps. I don't appreciate lies." --- They both had committed what people called 'crimes'. One difference being that Masaki wasn't blamed for his. At least as far as she knew. "So you'ah like me-" Panic briefly flickered into her gaze and she quickly carried on the last note. "-eeeeeeeow?" It made no sense, but she went with it, pretending to scratch the air like a cat. "Do ya regret it?" she quickly asked, trying to leave that awkward moment behind. She wondered why he was telling her all this. What if she had just taken the information to the police? What then?

Ash sighed "You know, if you're gonna threaten someone, don't do it after they've already told you that they hate the way their life is. And as you can see that sword wound you gave me is already completely healed so it's going to be more difficult to kill me" he said. When he heard what the promise was he laughed, not a small chuckle like he had been doing, but a true one. Ash calmed himself down after a few seconds "Sorry, but is that really all I have to promise? I've never actually ate a ferret before so it's a pretty easy one. Fine even if I am starving, I will not eat a ferret." he said
Masaki may be kind of dumb but he wasn't born yesterday. He heard what she had said before trying to change it. "You're really going to have to do better than that Pip. What do you mean I'm just like you? You saying you burned someone close to death? Did your father get murdered too or was it that you've also committed crimes?" He asked ignoring her question for now
