\ It wasn't so terrible to be stuck in one place. Time made sure to keep things interesting.
The great tower where the binding circle had been cast had long since fallen into disrepair, the rubble of the walls collapsing down around the structure's perimeter until barely any brick remained, and slowly moss and lichen had grown over it. Then vine and grass, and wildflowers and shrubs until any sign of human presence had faded back into the forest.
But the circle remained, and so did he. He could not stray past the unseen barrier, his tiny territory marked into his mind even without the walls that had previously surrounded him. He was unaware what lay beyond the forest at this point. Mortals would have forgotten a beast like him, though he never forgot them. An arcane being, he lacked the need of food, water, or sleep, but he was by nature a social creature and the centuries up on centuries without interaction left him with something of an anxiety.
He remained still, his body overgrown by the foliage he hadn't bothered to shake off, their roots growing around his limbs and bedding into the dirt he sat upon. Even if those who had trapped him here had been unkind, he still missed the clumsy sound of human feet upon the stone floors, and the chatting of the guards and keepers. He hadn't heard another voice in so long, he'd stopped using his own long ago.

( hope this is alright )
It was a lovely day, not cold but not incredibly hot either. A girl walked through the woods, without a specific destination. She came from the town that was built years ago just outside the forest. She often went hiking through the woods when she didn't have anything else to do or when she just wanted to get away. She felt comfortable in the woods.
She wore jeans and a t-shirt, her mousy brown hair thrown into a messy bun and her clothes scattered with smears of dirt. A black and white border collie trotted behind her without a leash, trusted to be obedient and follow the girl.
The trees thinned out, opening into a clearing. It looked like there might have been an old building, there was some bricks and stones scattered around, covered in vines and grass. Sitting down on a mossy stone, she pulled her bag off her shoulders and pulled out a bottle of water and a sketchpad. "Here, Rose." Her voice broke the peaceful silence as she called her dog close, cupping her hand and letting her drink from it before taking some for herself. Once they were satisfied she flipped open her sketchbook and took a pencil from her bag.

The sound of someone trudging through the undergrowth caught his attention quickly. He'd heard the sound of an animal as well - it was surprisingly easy to hear the difference - but he hadn't heard a human's footsteps in ages. Four eyes opened a sliver, blinking quickly at the light that blinded him. As he opened them slowly and looked about without turning his head, he spotted a figure through the leaves that had overtaken his face. He recognized the language, he hoped, but not the accent, nor did he recognize her unusual clothes.
He considered what to do in silence. She sat just outside his circle. Movement would surely frighten her off, like the early years when people still traveled this road. And back then, he hadn't been covered in so much greenery. He might observe for now. He wasn't sure how to make contact at this point, so watching seemed alright. If he wanted to speak, would he even be able to? He hadn't tried in so long, he'd forgotten what he sounded like.

Brushing a loose strand of hair out of her face, the young woman focused on her page as she sketched out a scene. She just drew her surroundings, smiling to herself as she put her vision on paper. Unaware that someone, rather something, was watching her. "Don't go far, Rose." she said softly, looking up only for a moment as the border collie wandered off.
The dog sniffed around through the grass, wagging her tail as she explored this unfamiliar area. She unknowingly wandered onto his circle, trotting to the lump of earth covered in plants and eagerly sniffed it over. The dog's jaws parted and she gave a small bark.

(The shortest way I can put it is a remnant of a forgotten age is out in the woods, and cannot leave specific spot. Your interactions will determine how we proceed)

The sound of the bark startled him a bit, his heart skipping a beat. The broken silence was nice, and a thin smile formed on his face. He clicked his teeth lightly, trying to get the animal's attention. Perhaps if it got closer, he might be able to touch it. For the first time in ages, his fingers twitched to life, gently shaking the plants that grew over them. He was able to move, but not far, as the roots that grew over him were buried deep into the ground, and he didn't have the momentum to pull them up. He'd have to snap the stems themselves, but that would make too much noise, he feared, and he wasn't ready to deal with the human just yet. (Sure )

A large figure padded around, his steps silent. He seemed to be a normal human upon first glance, but was different at second glance. The man brushed his long brown hair out of his face and he ran his hand through his goatee and he put his other one on the ground. Close now, he thought, making some noise with his tongue. Almost as soon as he did that, another creature emerged from the bushes.
The second figure was definitely not a human, and she was much larger and easier to see than the boy. She flicked her tail and nudged the boy to keep moving forward. Her long white hair reached down to her chest and needed to be cut badly. The large animal was definitely mythical, as well as the boy.

Rose's head snapped in the direction of the sound, still for several moments until her tail began to wag. She walked over to where the source of the sound lay, her head lowered as she sniffed the body. The earth moved and a hand lifted up which she eagerly nudged with her snout.
The girl thought she heard something in the woods, distracted from her drawing as she looked up towards the trees. She tapped the back of her pencil lightly against her leg, silently watching the forest.

The female creature tossed her head and looked at the dog. No no no. she thought, her eyes turning fearful. The other creature put a finger over his mouth. Not now, he mouthed to her. He reached up to touch her face and he stroked it gently when she let him.
The two creatures silently stared at the dog, neither of them making a sound. Just let it move, the boy mouthed to the other. It will do no harm to you. he added silently.

For a brief second, he thought he heard something else moving about in the woods, but the sudden touch of the dog's nose under his hand pulled the entirety of his attention. It was warm and soft, and his smile spread further, though unseen. In early a whisper, he mumbled softly. "Good pup. Good dog." Again, he barely moved his hand under the restriction of the stems and roots, running his fingers over the dog's muzzle. He was glad she'd been friendly, unlike the guard's hounds that barked and showed their teeth at him. They'd always been good to the guards though. He just assumed they'd been trained that way.

With an excited bark and a whimper Rose crouched down and crawled closer, happy that the creature under the roots was nice enough to pet her. She licked it's fingers, her furry tail thumping against the ground when it spoke. Her nose twitched, catching a weird scent and she pulled away from the hand. Sitting up, her dark eyes scanned the tree line until she spotted the two creatures. She stared at them, alert, but didn't move towards them.

Once more the dog's bark startled him, the sound so much louder and closer than anything had been in centuries. But then something else pulled the dogs attention. Not the human, she seemed distracted too. He turned his head only a fraction of an inch to look in the same direction as the dog, his eyes scanning the undergrowth until he spotted two more strangers. It felt odd that so many would show up here after so long on the same day. What was happening? As much as he wanted company, he couldn't help but feel nervous. Something had to be up with this, right?

The two creatures lay down in the undergrowth. The boy lay his head on the other creature's stomach. Neither spoke or even communicated with each other. They just stayed on the ground to be as concealed as possible. But the large bright female was bound to give them away at some point if one looked hard enough.
The boy was looking around. His dark coloration was basically a camouflage for him. He got up and walked off silently. He crawled over to the broken structure and he looked around it. Found it, he thought with a smile. He picked up a brick and silently crawled back to the other creature, who had since fallen asleep.

The dog simply stared at the two hiding in the undergrowth, curious and also wary. She growled softly, twitching an ear when one of the strangers moved, her gaze following him until he returned to the other. The young woman tucked her sketchbook back into her bag and stood up, looking towards the woods with curiosity. Maybe it was a deer or some other woodland creature that made a sound. Noticing Rose must have seen something, she began walking towards her. "What are you looking at?" she askes the border collie.

The boy woke the other creature, who jumped then relaxed slowly. He showed her the brick and she looked at it calmly, and her calm gaze turned to excitement quickly. The female got up with a bit of struggle. She tossed her head with excitement.
The boy went on all fours and motioned for the other to follow. He smiled at her and he crawled back over to the other structure and let her sniff around. He hopped up into the base of it and looked around. "Not too far," he whispered to the other.
