The night was dark, clouds hiding the stars and moon from sight, the only light available is that of the street lamps and a few closed signs. Without those few sources of light, it would be near impossible to make out the shape of a man. He walked with a limp, leaning on a walking stick. He was making his way out of the light, his form beginning to disappear into the darkness when suddenly a loud crash echoed throughout the streets. The man stopped, half hidden half shown with the light and dark, and he raised his head, his eyes glinting in the street light. A new figure rushed past the man with the walking stick, running at such a speed that caused the dirt around the man to kick up. He coughed, then raised his stick at the new figure and suddenly he was no longer half hidden by a street light, but rather in front of the rushing stranger, surrounded by an aura of blue light. The figure was revealed, but not as a human. it's form was indescribable, it was rippling and changing, a few flashes here and there were human like but not enough. To a passerby, there was merely a flashed of light and it was the man with the walking stick all alone, but in those few missing moments, there had been a battle. You wouldn't be able to see it, unless you were up close, but the man with the walking stick was now bleeding and grinning. In another flash of light, however, he was gone.
That might've been confusing, so let me explain. This role play has to do with a special demon-fighting organization. The Angelos Company is what they call themselves. They're a government organization and a subcategory of the Magic Knowledge Defender Agency (MKD). They're primary job is to keep demons from wrecking havoc on this particular city - as there are many sub units of MKD. All Sub Units are users of Magic, specifically Light Magic - as it is when is best used to defeat demons. Their head quarters is in the basements (which'll be described below) and they get down there via a special combination of numbers in the elevators.

Terms to know Magic Knowledge Defender Agency (MKD) - In the marvel universe, you have the avengers - they fight aliens and all that fun stuff. In this universe, we have the MKD, but instead of using magic users against evil magic users their main goal is to keep the knowledge of magic away from Civilians (regular people) and keep demons and dark magic users from revealing magic and/or harming Civilians. They have multiple sub units, mostly in big cities, and a handful in smaller towns. Some of importance are: the Angelos Company - Los Angeles; primarily fights demons. Second most popular MKD sub unit. Made up of mundane agents and witch agents. this is who the role play focuses on. the New York Unit - New York; primarily fights warlocks and demons. First most popular MKD sub unit, gets a lot of the MKD money and resources. Made up of Witch agents, mostly, with a handful of mundane agents. the Gate Institute - San Francisco; primarily fights warlocks and demons. Third most popular unit. Don't have much trouble with the evil side of magic so they're really just made up of the mundane agents with a handful of witch agents. the Sunshine Organization - Orlando; primarily fights warlocks. Least popular sub unit. A lot of the older agents are transferred here right before retirement. made up of mundane and witch agents. Demons - Creatures of unknown origin, they have no real form, they're really just pieces of shadows that shift color and images, normally faces. They travel mainly via shadows but they can travel through reflections as well. They're amazed by breaking glass and pocket watches. Killed via exposure to magnified light, but only annoyed by sunlight. Flashlights blind them and they can be killed by the shards of the glass and lead. Light Magic - Used in various forms, either through orbs or beams. Different than Good Magic, as light magic can be used for personal gain. Most anyone can use Light Magic - out of the magical realm - including Demons (but only in the form of orbs). Main magic that those of the MKD units use. Using light magic, good magic users can teleport, but it takes a lot of concentration and new users have yet to master it. Dark Magic - Like light magic, if can be used in orbs or beams. Can be used for personal gain and all magic users can use dark magic. Dark magic is not necessarily evil, it just thrives on the darkness and shadows. Evil magic users are the only users who can use Dark magic to teleport, however, and it usually looks like puffs of smoke. Takes a lot of practice to use, however, so new users can't do it. Good Magic - This cannot be used for personal gain, only for helping others. This includes spells and potions. Powers in correlation with Good Magic are the elements water, earth, and air; speaking to animals; premonition; time-related abilities; -kinetic abilities. If used with the intent of personal gain, these abilities either fail or backfire (i.e. user falls ill, bad luck occurs, their ability literally backfires on them, ect.) Evil Magic - Users of this don't need to worry about personal gain consequence. This also includes spell and potions, which are usually used with the intent to hard. Powers in correlation with evil magic are speaking to the dead; the elements of blood, fire, and metal; power stealing; premonition; ect. Any one can use evil magic, but evil magic tends to corrupt so good magic users are warned against it. Warlocks - Users of Evil magic and primary users of dark magic. Were once witches who were corrupted. male/female. Witches - Users of Good magic and primary users of light magic. can become warlocks. usually keep to themselves and only use abilities for rituals. Civilians - Regular people who have no idea the magical world exists. Lets keep it that way. Mundanes - those who know about the magic world but are not witches because they cannot practice good or evil magic. They can use light and dark magic with practice, but rely mostly on weapons made of glass.

the Angelos Hotel the headquarters of the Angelos Company, conveniently held beneath the Hotel of the same name. A gorgeous hotel, inside and out, it is a Tourist favorite. It's smaller rooms are relatively affordable and their larger suites are very popular among those of the higher class. Owned by the MKD it is one of those side-projects, something they busy their time with when their bored, and it has come in handy with funding. Most of the workers are MKD employees and Agents and have government security clearance, however, the workers of the hotel are not allowed to enter the Angelos Company headquarters unless they are also an agent or are given permission.
the HQ Beneath the basements of the Angelos Hotel is the Angelos Company headquarters. There are many rooms, used mostly as housing units, and multiple facilities for training. Some popular locations in the HQ are as follows:
the Combat Training Room - Here Angelos Company Agents train in hand-to-hand and weapons combat. No magic is allowed in this room and it is supervised by High ranked officers.Usually opened between the hours of 4 a.m. and 11 p.m., however T-F, the room is reserved 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for Recruit training. the Magic Training Room - everything magic related, in relation to combat happens here. Supervised and always open (except on Sa-M 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. bc recruit training). Recruit Knowledge Enrichment Center - Basically an education center. Instructors are around and there aren't really any set classes. All new recruits are required to sit through two hours each weekday to learn "The History of Magic" (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.). This center is large enough to hold "Graduation Ceremonies" where New Recruits become Full Agents. Recruit Office - This is where new recruits are brought and examined. They go through a background check, a physical, a mental examination, and they sign lots and lots of papers. Here is where any type of recruit can come and get questions, request paperwork, turn in paperwork, ect. Control Room - Where high ranking agents look over camera's, discuss missions, gossip, and relax. Kinda like a uptight lounge. Comfy seat are everywhere, expect in front of the screens showing cameras around the Angelos Company Facilities and a few locations of the hotel and city. Branching off this room is the Housing for the HOH - head of household - or leader of the Angelos Company, the main communicator between the Company and MKD, and a handful of high ranking officers. Mess Hall - Pretty self explanatory. Here is where we eat. Meeting Room - where meetings are held between anyone and everyone. Meetings held by the HOH mainly to discuss current events, missions involving recruits, recruit meetings, ect.

the Angelos Company Hierarchy each sub unit of the MKD has a different way of putting their hierarchy. In the MKD, you have the Board of Directors, Security Agents, and Donator's. Here is how the Angelos Company does it. note: this role play follows recruits and up as well as staff, civilians, regular mundanes/witches, and warlocks. NOT new recruits. you can have a new recruit and you can role play them learning and stuff but that is not the main point of this role play.
HOH - head of household; the leader of the Angelos Company. The boss, what he says goes. Right hand man is the Communicator because with him, there is limited communication with the MKD. → Timothy Clyvan
the Communicator - highly educated and has one of the highest security clearances in the U.S. very important and one of the most well respected one in their profession among those in the MKD. job includes communications between Angelos and the MKD, communications between this realm and the demonic one, and communication with Civilians (for deliveries and such) [should be 30+ years old and can be a witch or a mundane] → name
the Court - a collection of usually 5-7 high ranking officers with clearance all around the facility, including the control room. Their duties include escorting recruits to meetings and sometimes the control room, managing security, erasing memories of civilians, and they are sometimes referred to as "correcting officers" as they deal with juvenille crimes and such within the facility and punishment of recruits who break protocol. can be witches or mundanes. → name → name → name → name → name
Agents - full recruits. they fight demons and warlocks, lead normal lives, visit the facility from time to time, go on missions, ect. can be witches or mundanes (29+ years old) → name → name → name → name → name
Recruits - different from agents. higher than new recruits, but still in training. do the same things as agents and new recruits, they're just older than new recruits and younger than agents. (20+years old) Instructors and mentors as well. Part of them becoming agents is them being able to teach new recruits well enough to pass Boards and become recruits. → name → name → name → name → name
New Recruits - young members who are still in training and are mentored by recruits (part of recruit training to become agents). (15-19 years old) → name → name → name → name → name
Staff - anyone who is not an agent but has access to the facility. Includes cooks, some instructors, cleaning staff, ect. (19+ years old). → name → name → name → name → name

Plotline so, what is going on in this role play? On the first post of this thread you read the basic jist. However, I have not detailed the main plotline.
Essentially, it goes as follows: Two warlocks have created a cult and are, alongside their followers, summoning demons to do their biddings - such as murder and robbery. They're also gathering civilians and revealing knowledge of magic to cause chaos within the city and hopefully to insight the government in disbanding the Angelos Company as uneffective, thus making it easier for corruption and such as the MKD struggles to find someone to fill the Angelos Company spot. We find our characters fighting these summoned demons and doing extensive research on finding out who these two warlocks are and how to shut down their plans.
side plots are very much allowed!! romance, friendship, accidentally revealing magic, fighting random warlocks/demons, realizing they like evil magic over good magic and good becoming evil, ect. have fun with this please, just follow the roleplay rules and the forum rules.

Rules of the Roleplay
1. this is an advanced role play. what does this mean? detail, detail, detail. think about when, why, where, what, how, and all that fun stuff. I want at least 200 words per role play post, however more is preferred. 2. with this rule, I full acknowledge that my activity isn't always the best, but I do expect you to, once you've joined and been told you can role play, be on at least once or twice a week to role play. feel free to chat your bottom off just as long as you role play. 3. when making characters keep in mind that no one is perfect, you can't control other peoples characters (without their permission), and all that fun stuff. keep things as realistic as possible. this is set in modern times so dyed hair is cool and colored contacts and tattoos (encouraged) and all of today's things. LGBQ+ inclusive!! 4. please be kind. that's all there really is to this rule. don't be rude, be respectful and don't start fights. everyone's got feelings ya'know. 5. keep it pg y'all. pg-13? idk just don't be descriptive about violence or romance. there are kids here and we don't need any phone calls from angry parents (lol). 6. most importantly, follow the forum rules. found here: link 7. also, have fun!! be creative and stuff.

Los Angeles, California
I personally do not know a lot about Los Angeles so I'm not going to go into detail on the places to go. Here's a quick list of some places tourists might go for at least a basis on where to go, but honestly you can feel free to make things up, look things up, or whatever. This is set in modern day in a world similar to ours but not exactly like our world.
tourist hotspots: → Venice Beach → Hollywood Walk of Fame → The Getty Center → Rodeo Drive Shops → Griffith Observatory → Disneyland → Watts Tower → Walt Disney Concert Hall → The Grove (open air mall)
also feel free to go clubbing and stuff xD obviously, we've got the Angelos Hotel and the LA Hospital, ect.
