"Careful!" Louis interjected quickly, his voice rising. He could tell that something bad would happen if the other boy moved that tile. It was... his gut instinct. "Don't move that tile!"

"You die over some candy, I'll live to become a famous artist." Oops. No one knew that Louis was an artist. Well, until now, obviously. Thank goodness he hadn't mentioned animation.

Paul wrinkled his nose. "Okay...I think death over candy is waaay better than sentencing yourself to art." He'd never been good at art, always messing something up so bad that his art teacher glanced at his paper, looking like he'd just swallowed a lemon.

"Art is calming and a very good way of venting, ok?" Louis spat, defensive. "And just because you obviously haven't tried researching to become better at art, doesn't mean art is bad!"

Paul just shrugged. "I wasn't accusing you of anything." He walked around casually, biting his lip where Louis couldn't see it. He hadn't meant to make the guy mad. He didn't really care if he did, but he figured that if you were the last person on earth with Louis, you'd rather it not be a very angry Louis.

He turned and walked back towards the building where they had been sheltering earlier. Better to let Paul get trapped under some falling debris than have another argument. Besides, maybe then Paul would stop being such an idiot, especially if he had to be rescued.

Louis glanced back to see Paul facing the other way, slightly slouched, and Louis sighed. He'd probably upset the other boy, and he guessed he didn't want to do that. He groaned slightly and then called out. "Paul! Want to help me set up a camp for the night?"

"ummm, probably some sort of large pieces of metal or wood? you know, so we can build up a small shelter around the building we were in before? then we'll get some food, too, i guess." louis tried not to show how desperate he felt at the moment. nearly everything was wrecked or ruined. there was a slim chance of finding large pieces of metal or wood.

(I was gonna say that, but I was thinking we could focus on their thoughts for a bit, but yeah, a timeskip would probably be best)
Louis returned to the half destroyed science lab, lugging along some large pieces of metal and wood, plus some "proper food" he had taken from the cafe. He sat down in the middle of the room to rest for a moment. During the time by himself, he had worked out that he had a minor crush on Paul. And he had decided that it would stay as a minor crush. Forever.

Forever. Paul made his way back to the campfire, two stacks of wood under his arms. He'd shed the t-shirt a long time ago, it had felt so hot outside. This was only a bit of what he'd gotten; it was amazing how much he'd gotten done. Surprised when Louis wasn't there, he shrugged to himself, dropping the wood on the fire before setting it alright, a skill he'd learned in boy scouts back in fourth grade. He was glad he'd ever gone, now for sure. Figuring that the blazing fire would be a good enough sign that he'd been there, Paul went back for his next haul of wood, brushing sweat off the top of his forehead.

Paul jumped. He'd been unaware that the other guy had been there at all. "Well, yeah." His hand automatically reached up and he scratched the back of his neck. "Thought it would be useful, you know?" His fierce green eyes were full of curiosity. "What is it that you were doing?"

"Just because the night isn't cloudy tonight, doesn't mean it won't ever rain, and we don't know how long we'll be stuck here." Louis ignored the fact that Paul had reached up to scratch his neck, which was generally a sign of nervousness. He'd probably just been startled, plus the two hardly knew each other anyway.

I don't want to make this weird, but in survival situations, to conserve heat, they always say..." He trailed off, realising saying that would make it weird.
