(I'll keep my options open then!)
Coalstrike felt the fur on his back rise up a little; he hadn't been quite aware that his injury had been showing through his tough facade and felt a little embarrassed. The fact was, he realized, that his paw was radiating pain and that the walk back was going to be less than pleasant. He sighed a little and choked down his pride, "I would really appreciate something for it; it's gotten a bit worse after my nap." The words felt thick and sticky coming out of his mouth and he grimaced a little -- he hoped Yellowtail would take the face he made as something toward his sprained paw -- as he admitted the crux of this imperfect expedition into the caves. His thoughts continued to plague him as he motioned to the exit. The trip still hadn't been the worst thing; Yellowtail made it to the Starpool and he was the new medicine cat of the clan. The black tom reassured himself a little more, trying to retain a bit of pride. "At least he made it," Coalstrike thought, perhaps a little smugly, "and he couldn't have done that without me."

Rainpaw | Female | 10 Moons | Medicine Cat Apprentice Rainpaw's figure is rather small and thin, making her more vulnerable to injuries, but it does help her move more smoothly. Her silvery fur covered in darker gray tabby marks is short and smooth, with dark gray ears and a white underbelly. Her tail is a bit longer than normal, and is colored white at the end of it. Her round eyes are a dark blue color.| Rainpaw is a kind and gentle soul, and would never dream of hurting another cat. Even if threatened she refuses to resort to violence, only doing so if it is a life or death situation. She cares for every single cat in the clan, no matter their attitude, and rarely shows any anger to her fellow clanmates. This kind of behavior, however, can lead to problems when situations that can only be solved with violence or anger arise. Likes: Quietness, chatting, star-gazing | Dislikes: Conflict, loud noises, being crowded (Not claustrophobia, she just does not like being surrounded by too many cats.) | Rainpaw is easily scared, which is one of the reasons why she did not wish to train as a warrior. (Seems like Flowey was going to make a medicine cat apprentice.) Riverstep felt a rush of pride at Tawnystar's words, and parted her jaws to taste the air. She sniffed around a bit, but the chill in the air seemed to have chased away the prey in the area. -- Yellowtail chuckled a bit, maybe a little embarrassed at the situation. He was going to pad passed Coalstrike when he noticed him favoring his paw. The gray tom gave the injured limb a sniff, detecting the heat of inflammation. He looked back up at Coalstrike. "Once we get back to camp, I've got just the thing for that paw of yours." (( Yes, sorry! I got quite busy yesterday and did not have time to post. ^^; ))

Rainpaw was currently situated within the Medicine Cat's den of the camp, where she spent a lot of her time most days. Since her current mentor was out for the moment she had taken responsibility of making sure the den was not disorganized and full of clutter. The young apprentice had taken note of the herbs they should gather more of before moving on to arranging the small cavern to look neat. She was, of course, alert for any calls for medical attention. Even if it was something as little as a small thorn stuck in the paw of a clanmate, she would immediately rush over to help. She never hesitated to drop her chores to help a cat in need.

(i'm kind of here. i have a lot of homework i have to get done before 11:59 tonight, so i'll reply where i can.)
Yellowtail noticed how uncomfortable Coalstrike was when he pointed out the injury, and gave a sympathetic smile. "Don't worry, tough guy. I won't make a big deal out of it." The gray tom chuckled and turned back toward the tunnels. Now that he was a full medicine cat, he was eager to start his duties. He had an apprentice to get back to, herbs to gather, and at least one injury to treat. Allowing Coalstrike to take the lead again, he fell instep behind his clanmate as they headed back to camp.
--
Riverstep turned her head and looked in the direction Tawnystar was pointing. Nodding, she quietly crept forward, keeping her jaws parted to follow the scent trail. If they could find this rabbit, it would feed at least a few warriors. And that was worth something when leafbare was on its way.

(I understand the feeling... I've been swamped on homework too. It'll be up to you to how much of this part you want to respond to or add to; I won't be offended if you skip a lot of it! I wasn't sure how ready you were to move on, but I am very ready to move on out of the caves!)
Coalstrike felt a little flustered; he really thought he was better had hiding things, but this perceptive tom was very adept picking him apart. He murmured a small, "Er... thanks, Yellowtail," feeling his ears burn warmly. He gave his chest a couple quick licks before he began to pad lopsidedly into the tunnel that led back to camp. He couldn't really complain about Yellowtail reassuring him; it sounded like the tom understood him and didn't think anything bad of it, so it wasn't a big deal. He was just a little sheepish about how much he had revealed about himself in such a short time. Despite this, he twitched his whiskers and pressed forward; there was no need to worry about it anymore.
Coalstrike wrinkled his nose a little and gave a small huff as they reached the slope that he had tumbled down. "I'm never going to like taking this path again," he grumbled as he began to heave himself up the smooth, rock slope, tentatively feeling for footholds with only three paws. There was no way in on earth that he was going to even attempt to use his lame paw to guide him, as he was slightly afraid of falling back down and crashing into his companion. That was exactly not what they needed: an new medicine cat that wouldn't even be able to make it back to camp due to a freak accident in the caves. It was a slow and somewhat painstaking process, but the black tom finally felt the ground flatten beneath his paws and he knew he was safe from anymore sudden falls.
The journey continued without any hiccups, and Coalstrike pushed his head out of the tunnel branch that they had been in for StarClan knows how long. He took a deep breath, tasting some of the less stale air in the larger cave area, and quickly pulled the rest of his lithe body free from the confines of the cave. He felt refreshed upon his exit, and turned to Yellowtail. "I didn't think I'd ever feel better to be outside of a narrow tunnel than inside one," he mused, feeling a sort of relief wash over him. It was odd, he felt very happy to be home when generally his paws always itched to get out of camp and explore his cavernous territory; he assumed that perhaps injured paws could dampen even the most adventurous of spirits.

Stonefang | Tom | 23 moons | Warrior Stonefang is a dark grey bulky tom with thick fur and a dark grey nose. He has a large white patch running from his chest to the underside of his belly. He also has four white feet, a white tailtip, & dark green eyes. There is a nick in his lower left ear, leaving a small tear. | As his name suggests, Stonefang is solid both physically & in terms of his emotions. He keeps his feelings close to his chest unless he is very close with another cat. He doesn't speak as often as other cats, but he is always there to listen. He can be prone to occasional fits of anger, from keeping his emotions pent up for so long, but recovers quickly & is usually very sorry after. He masks it by being quiet, or with his combat skills, but Stonefang is actually a little socially awkward. He can also be very hardheaded sometimes. Likes: Hunting, Fighting, Nesting with others (though he'd never admit it) |Dislikes: Small tunnels (the size of his muscles can get him stuck), the damp | Stonefang is only interested in other toms, & hopes he can have a mate of his own someday. Would love to be able to mentor an apprentice. Found abandoned as a young kit, taken back to CaveClan and raised like one of their own, family unknown. |Nightrain44

(thanks! :3)
Stonefang had just left the Warrior's Den when he noted Coalstrike and Yellowtail returning to Camp. He noticed that Coalstrike was limping, & knew something must have gone wrong on their expedition. He slowly padded over to them, not wanting to startle the injured tom. "Are you all right, Coalstrike?"

Yewfoot chuckled a little, "It's been so long since we've actually monitored our territory above ground; it doesn't surprise me that you've been living up here. I'm happy to hear that you're excited to live in the caves." She continued to pad along, seeing the small slope of ground that indicated the start of the underground CaveClan territory. She suddenly felt her pelt prickle in concern; before pointing out the entrance to their Clan's underground territory to Leafstripe, she decided to ask a few questions first. "Bad things in the forest?" Yewfoot asked for clarification, "Do you mean in this forest? What type of bad things?" -- Coalstrike had long since fallen asleep as he waited for the medicine cat to return from his dreams. His sleek black sides rose and fell softly as he napped in pristine silence, his injured paw gingerly draped over his face and muzzle as to not disturb it if he moved in his sleep. He felt some prods in his side and he grumbled a little, unwilling to open his eyes and return to reality. Again he felt the paw of his clanmate, this time accompanied by a voice; it sounded excited and eager, and so Coalstrike finally pulled his pale amber eyes open to face the world. He was met by an enthusiastic Yellowtail, whose doubts and anxiety seemed to have been replaced by every opposite emotion. He sat up groggily, careful of his paw, and yawned, "Did it go well?" (There's not a lot of info on the above ground, but there must be a twolegplace somewhere) "Twolegs and where there are twolegs there are rats, and where there are rats there's death."Her eyes suddenly serious, she looked at Yewfoot."Stay away from the two legplace and tell that to the rest of the clan, I don't want to see other good cats die"

(Sorry nightrain44 ; I've been waiting for Maplenose to reply before I get to yours. I promise I'm not ignoring it! And that's good to know! I smell a future plot... ) Yewfoot should have expected the somber words that came out of Leafstripe's throat, yet she felt a pang of sorrow creep into her stomach. "We don't hear much about the two-leg place... I didn't realize how bad it was... I'm sorry; something awful must have happened there. I'll be sure to let Tawnystar know so she can warn the rest of the clan," she mewed lightly, "I'm not a big fan of rats either; I got my right ear clipped by one of those monsters," she grumbled, flattening her ears sadly, "We lost a lot of good cats that day." She looked at the ground somberly and and continued to move forward. She felt her spirits perk up a bit as she showed Leafstrike the entrance to the underground network of tunnels. "Here is our home," she purred, "and perhaps your new home as well. I'll need you to follow me closely so you don't get lost on your first time here, okay?" She whipped her tail to draw attention to it, "If you need reassurance that you're not lost, you can try to touch my tail with your nose. If you do get lost, just yowl and I'll find you," she added with a slight laugh in her voice.

As Rainpaw finished up arranging most of the herbs she heard faint voices just outside the den, recognizing the worried tone in the words spoken. She turned away from the small cubbyholes in the rocky wall and padded out into the open to see that her mentor had returned, as well as two other familiar warriors, one of which seemed to be very cautious with one of his paws. "Is everything alright?" The apprentice mewed as she calmly walked over to the small group. "I'll be glad to help if any of you are hurt."

(hey guys, i'm sorry. i'm fighting step throat right now so i'm exhausted.)
Riverstep followed behind her leader, but on the ground. She had never been in a tree, and she didn't plan to start today. The idea of being up so high made her head spin, she she stuck to the forest floor, where at least she was close to the caves.
--
Yellowtail followed Coalstrike all the way back to camp, quietly enjoying the journey. With a few more trips, he wouldn't need a companion to go with him anymore. Perhaps traveling herbs, should his talk with StarClan take a while, but that would be all.
Yellowtail chuckled at Coalstrike's remark. "Those tunnels are quite small," he mused. For a cat as tall as him, the tunnels leading to the Starpool were a bit of a squeeze, but he didn't really mind. "I'm glad we're back home as well." After entering camp, he turned to Coalstrike and dipped his head. "Thank you for helping me today. Now," he said, with a glance down to the paw, "let's get you to the medicine den." He turned again to face Rainpaw, and spoke in a low tone so as not to embarrass the other tom. "His paw may be sprained. Do you remember what to do?"

(Oh man, no worries! I just hope you start feeling better.)
Coalstrike felt his ears get hot as he was suddenly surrounded by his clanmates, questioning him on his lame paw. It was nice, he generously admitted, to have so many care about his condition, but he was very insistent that he didn't need to be doted on. He flashed a cheeky smile at Rainpaw and Stonefang, and stood himself up taller. "I'm just as good as ever," he mewed, "I just fell down a slope on the way to Starpool and my paw got in the way. I'll be better in no time." He felt Yellowtail usher him quickly to the medicine cat den before he whispered something lightly to his apprentice. The small tom glanced at Stonefang and wanted to keep his the embers of his reputation still alight. "I guess I do have to go to the medicine den, but it's not that bad. Honestly!" he mewed nervously.

He knew the other tom was trying to reassure everyone, but he couldn't help the kernel of worry that was now growing inside him. He really hoped Coalstrike would be all right, & Yellowtail was a perfectly adept Medicine Cat, but the worry came anyways.

Rainpaw thought hard on what remedies to use for a sprained paw. Even if she knew quite a bit about herbs, she still had some trouble. "Let's see... I use nettle for the swelling.. and poppy seeds for the pain, right?" She looked up at her mentor, waiting for an answer.

Coalstrike felt a little nervous about being treated by the apprentice, but he trusted that Yellowtail wouldn't let anything wrong happen, so he let out a small breath of reassurance. Besides, it was just a sprained paw; what was the worst thing that Rainpaw could do to him? He looked back at the cats that had gathered to see if he was alright, and saw that Stonefang still had a worried look on his face. He felt his eyes roll a little, but he offered a small wink to him. His paw was fine. He was fine. There was nothing to worry about.
Getting into the medicine cat den, he felt a small pang of anxiety strike his core. He heard a voice in his head that was absolutely set on bringing up the worst case scenarios, much like: "Okay, but hear me out Coalstrike, what if they have to cut it off?" He settled down and fretfully held his paw away from his body, his pale yellow eyes flickering around the cave nervously.
(Coalstrike is a big baby and I love him.)
