[My fancy bullet points didn't show up and I am cry. I just wanted pretty bullet points, dang. Also, formatting in the lower half of this post keeps messing up for some reason.] x intro Ahh, the ever-cliché “cat decides to make a Clan, and then it happens” shtick. Don’t you love those kinds of threads? Well, here’s another one. Set in somewhere that very loosely resembles a part of the Northern California coastline [if in name only], SageClan has quite the vast swath of territory to explore. There’s plenty of trees, some rivers to splash in, and some mountains and hills at the very edges of the borders. Even the sea isn’t too far away, but I wouldn’t recommend you go there unless you want to potentially get eaten. The camp is surrounded by tall trees, conveniently located under overarching roots in a clearing. A break in the action, if you will. Chronologically, this Clan is a fairly new one. As such, there’s currently a lot of infighting as former rogues and loners attempt to overthrow, even murder, the high-ranking cats. Don’t get me wrong, there are a quite few cats who were previously Clanborn or are generally cooperative in the ranks, but overall this Clan seems to be quite poorly thought-out; a haphazard band of random strangers all lumped together. Gee, that can’t possibly go wrong! If you can’t tell by that sentence, I plan for SageClan to be quite a bit darker than your usual fanClan. Cats will die and go missing [that’s if this takes off and we get enough members, that is]. x rules
First off, check the forum rules just as a basis. If something is mature content, I ask that you describe it in as little detail as possible. Normally, I’d be fine with a variety of stuff, but these are the forums and they have their own rules. No godmodding/powerplaying. If you’re not sure of definitions of those, check here: i2.wp.com/forumroleplay.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/bad-roleplay1.png In the same vein as that, do not harm someone’s character without asking first. Your characters don’t have to all have Clan names, but it is encouraged. Don’t make all your RP posts 1 sentence. Aim for around 2-3 sentences a post at the very least, or simply just a few short paragraphs. If you are a native English speaker who does not have a learning disability, there is absolutely no excuse for you to use things such as text talk in roleplay, nor is there an excuse for you to capitalize every other word. Try to be legible. LGBT+ characters are welcomed with open arms here. Just a heads-up. Warn the mods if you plan to be inactive for a long period of time. Apprentices cannot have mates or kits. Characters also cannot be mates with their kin. Don’t make every single one of your characters fall into a singular category, ex. don’t make them all have the same fur color, don’t make them all have the same sexuality, don’t make every single one of them apprentices. Variety isn’t boring, as much as you might think it is. If you no longer want to be a part of this roleplay, just tell a mod. They will delete your characters, or page someone else to delete your characters provided that they’re not the one who made the top post. Don’t constantly insert your character into situations. Sometimes, you just have to accept that there’s things they won’t be around to see. Don’t make your characters perfect; they need to be genuinely flawed in some way [no, “clumsy” doesn’t count as a defining character flaw], even if they themselves don’t realize it. Don’t use names like “Shiningheart” or Evilclaw”. I’ve seen enough of those around in my years of creating/modding/just generally skulking around fanClans, and I think the majority of us are a little sick of it by this point. Check with an experienced mod as to whether or not the name is okay. All full medicine cats have the suffix -seer as a symbol of their connection to StarClan.
x joining form requirements
Character’s name Character’s gender identity and pronouns, along with a basic visual description of the character Some personality traits of the character’s The rank you wish your character to have Things such as breed, history, sexuality, headcanon voice [who you imagine your OC to sound like] and familial relationships are not required, since it is unlikely that this will ever be touched upon except in side plots. But you can add them as a side note if you want.x small list of acceptable prefixes
Raccoon- [mostly used for grizzled/generally nonsolid, but predominantly gray cats, or gray tabbies] The majority of the default canon ones, such as Amber, Shrew, Badger, Ice, or Gray. *Ferret- is an exception, don’t use this one
Bear- [black bear primarily, since the California Grizzly Bear has been eradicated in the wild and it’s unlikely that feral cats here will know of brown bears] Beetle- [for brown or black cats, or blue-gray in rare cases] Weasel- Cougar- Wolverine- Skunk- Coyote- Owl- [such as the Western Screech Owl, Spotted Owl, or the Great Gray] Lizard- [any shade of brown, gray-ish] Spider- [for a creamy light brown or black cat] Beaver- Otter- [refers to the river otter mainly] Ermine/Stoat- [brown and white bicolor. Other prefixes can easily be used for white cats, so I am specifically listing brown and white bicolor cats. Maybe chocolate tortoiseshells in some manner, but probably not] Deer- [could also use Doe- or Stag-] Hawk- [red-tails specifically] Fox- [specifically, gray fox] Kingfisher- Horse- Elk- Rattlesnake- [would have added the common garter snake, but a name such as “Gartersnaketail” is really awkward so I omitted it. Decent prefix for chocolate/cinnamon/fawn tortoiseshells, and potentially mottled gray cats] Salmon- [silvery gray to pale gray cat] Hummingbird- *special, don’t make this too common. It’s more of a pretty name than much else, because no real cat pattern matches the hummingbird
Towhee- [gray-brown bird with some brown patches, Bird- or Feather- could work as a general] Porcupine- [gray] Marmot- [yellow-bellied marmot, so something such as a Blue Abyssinian would work well] Eagle- [am specifically thinking of the Golden Eagle here, which is dark brown] Fisher- [mammal, relatively solid dark brown in color] Grasshopper-, alternatively, Cricket- [pale brown cat] Opossum- [dark gray and white] Bat- [pale fawn/tan to dark brown] Newt- [Ginger or dark ginger cats. California newts are sort of reddish] Redwood/Sequoia- [brown to slightly reddish-brown cats] Trout- [grizzled silver or pale gray] Lamprey- [paler brown, dark gray, or dark blue-gray] Vulture- Poppy- [in this case, specific to pale ginger cats] Buckwheat- [pale tan/fawn] Blazing- [refers to the blazingstar flower, which is golden in color] Alder- [white alder specifically]

x allegiances:Leader Boarstar – short-furred clay colored molly [demigirl: She/Her or They/Them pronouns] with oversized, batlike ears, an elongated and narrow muzzle, and a horrendous underbite. Her eyes are a strange yellowish-green color, and she has abnormally long teeth and claws. Super lanky and taller than the average cat; overall looks are in summary androgynous. Primarily a Jungle Cat/Chausie/Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat mix. Previously Eir, then Boarstorm, a name that partially spawned from a nickname her father gave her as a child. She is reckless, crass, and thick-headed, but, let’s face it, she probably has a heart somewhere deep down there. Headcanon voice would be Suzanne Pleshette as Zira from TLK 2, provided she were still alive. [ wadevvilson ] Deputy Pantherclaw - long-haired black silver shaded tom [cis male: He/Him] with wide, pale green eyes. He is witty, stubborn, wise, and a firm believer. [ c o u r a g e ]
Medicine cats Elkseer is a dusty brown tom [cis male: He/Him] with darker stripes. His eyes are a deep amber with yellow flecks scattered carelessly about. His appearance overall is rather odd; he has an abnormally long body with long, thin legs and a long and bony tail. His ears are tattered from all the play fights he lost as a kit which opened his eyes to how little he enjoyed brawling and how he had a knack for helping those who were hurting. Elkseer is a skittish cat who startles quite easily. He keeps more to himself than anything else because no one really seems to want to take the time to understand what he's murmuring under his breath to himself almost always. Most cats just assume it's something wrong with his head. However, in reality, Elkseer is determined to be the best and he constantly goes over different herbs and their healing abilities in order to respond to an injury as quickly and effectively as possible. [ shadowstreak ] Warriors Batfrost – pale, somewhat scruffy fawn tom [cis male: He/Him pronouns] with an oddly triangular dark brown patch of fur on his back. He too has an elongated muzzle, along with curled ears. Eyes are dark green, with a ring of lighter green circling his pupils. Like much of his familial line, he looks strikingly delicate and feminine. Previously known as Hadrian, and he is essentially of the same breed mix as the current leader. Though he is not deputy, he is practically attached at the hip to his cousin Boarstar, and some have theorized that the two are somehow psychically linked; no matter how ridiculous that idea sounds. Some have also theorized that they’re mates given how much time they spend together, but that’d be gross. Generally, he is 100% done with everyone’s antics at all times. He’s a major pessimist, not much of a warrior in general, and has a rather abrasive, standoffish manner. Headcanon voice: Carter Hayden as Noah from the Total Drama series. [ wadevvilson ] Eelbite – a stout, heavyset dark brown tabby tom [cis male: He/Him pronouns] with one golden yellow eye, and one dark blue ringed with green eye. His underbelly, as well as part of the underside of his tail, is a soft cream shade. Apart from the eyes, he’s the spitting image of his father Fiyero; not that any cat here would know that, seeing as they never met the grumpy tabby. Used to be known as Finn. At nearly 2 years, he’s definitely one of the youngest warriors in the Clan, and is rather naïve, overly trusting, and happy-go-lucky. He tries his best, at least, even if he often fails. Legit feel like he’d be voiced by Sean Foreman [lead singer of 3OH!3]. [ wadevvilson ] Hawkfoot is a pretty little mottled brown she-cat [presumably cis: She/Her] with a long red tail. Her whiskers are white and unusually long. While Hawkfoot is an extremely extroverted and open cat, she's all business. She aims high and won't settle for anything other than the best. Her best. She wants to move up in the clan, but wants to earn it. Of course she could try and go all rogue and murder her way to the top and etc. etc. But she would rather be respected rather than feared. And quite frankly, she respects the clan's leader and is always trying to earn favor with her by doing all that she can to help the growing clan. [ shadowstreak ] Tangletail - a brindle (chocolate base with beige streaks) tom [cis male: He/Him] with an often matted, poorly-groomed coat. He is built tall, long, and gangly, with a thin frame and joints that stick out at awkward angles; his slightly fluffy fur helps to lessen the effect on the eyes. His face is round, and his muzzle square, the fur on them being slightly lighter than the fur on the rest of his body. His ears are of a darker shade than the rest of his body, and are big and bat-like. His eyes are sort of large, being of a pale corn yellow. He has a single thin scar running down the top of his right shoulder to the beginning of his front right leg. He is clumsy, socially awkward, somewhat cowardly and pessimistic, and controlling over his friends. Easily corrupted by power or influence. Bisexual, I imagine him to sound like Bo Burnham in my head. [ mosspaw ] Apprentices Queens + Kits
Elders
Cats Outside the Clan [Limit 10 at any given time, unless there’s a plot event going on] Apollo - a plump golden tabby tom [cis male: He/Him] with less than 50% white spotting, medium-length fur on the majority of his body, green eyes, and tufted ears. His muzzle is long and oddly narrow. Very flirty, and tries to speak eloquently. A pretty good liar, as well. Not great in tense situations, and is more than a bit of a coward. Pansexual, male preference. Batfrost's brother. Headcanon voice is to be determined.

Cricketstep
Cricketstep is a cream colored, classic tabby she-cat. While most of her pelt is a pale, cream color, her markings range from peach to a deep red-orange. She has short fur, and her tail is just a stump. Her eyes are round, and pale green in color with hints of yellow. As far as build, Cricketstep is very compact. Her back legs are very round and hold most of her power.
Cricketstep is very realistic, and generally a risk-taker. She can be very blunt at times, but she means well. She knows her place, or rather where she thinks her place should be. She is ambitious, and more focused on herself and climbing ranks than anything else. She is, in all sense of the word, a show off. She's very solitary and hard-working, but she tends to overwork herself to show she is the best. Cricketstep is stubborn, and hates asking for help even when it is absolutely necessary. She's very quick to anger when she feels her pride is threatened.
Warrior
She is a Manx who has been on her own since she was a kit. She was a rogue, but joined the clan because she liked the idea of being in charge. She's a lesbian. As for her voice, she would sound something like Cortana from Halo.

[May as well post a starter of some kind.]
Boarstar was lying in her den, curled around a sleeping Batfrost as if her life depended on it. It had certainly been an interesting endeavor, finding out they were related; and it meant that he was her only kin currently in this Clan, as well. Speaking of the Clan, leading one had been an interesting experience so far. She was not exactly a young cat, but even with her years of life experience, sometimes it was difficult to keep control over her new Clanmates. Really, it felt as though she was trying to herd dogs most of the time. Thank StarClan (not that she particularly had much faith in a bunch of dead cats to guide her, but it helped to know that her father was up there, watching over her. She'd seen him at her ceremony, after all) that she had her queerplatonic partner with her, the other half of her soul. Batfrost, with all his prickliness, at least tried to be helpful and stay out of her way when he was instructed to.
She supposed that she should go out and face the ragtag Clan. So, she got up-waking Batfrost in the process-and strode outside with her head held high. The fawn tom lingered behind her, a brighter-colored shadow.

Cricketstep lay in the warriors den, trying her hardest to get at least a little bit more sleep. She rolled a bit, trying to find a more comfortable position. To no avail. Eventually, she gave up and begrudgingly opened her eyes. She slowly got to her paws and stretched, back arched, and walked outside with a yawn. Sheathing and unsheathing her claws in the dirt, her ear twitched and she shifted her attention to Boarstar. It was clear she was itching for a command from the leader as she impatiently kneaded the ground beneath her.

Her green gaze shifted to the cream warrior. "A hunting patrol would be of need," she mused out loud, nodding at Cricketstep. "Care to come with?" She would admit that the ambitious she-cat wouldn't normally be her first choice for much of anything, but it was just a simple patrol. Nevertheless, though, Boarstar would be wary. She then looked back at Batfrost, who muttered a 'might as well'.

With a twitch of her whiskers, Cricketstep made her way towards them "I would have gone by myself, but patrols are," she stopped and tried to decide on her wording. Had she had it her way, there wouldn't be hunting patrols. But she doesn't have it her way, and she knew that questioning Boarstar's ways would get her nowhere. "... more efficient." she finished, though somewhat bitterly. She preferred hunting by herself, despite the possible dangers. She felt she could do more without others getting in her way.

"I'm glad you see it that way," the leader said flatly. She'd definitely caught that pause, she wasn't stupid. The clay-colored cat proceeded to stalk out of camp, heading deep into the trees. She sniffed the air a couple times, motioning to the tangle of brush and roots around her. "This is a good place to start."
~~~~~~
Batfrost dispersed without a word, slipping silently into the greenery. It was debatable whether or not he'd actually manage to bring back any prey, but he hopefully would.
Cricketstep followed silently. She gave a curt nod, and set off into the brush. She sniffed at the air herself, and continued on her way. She thought about how she was going to be sure to bring back the most prey. Or maybe just one huge piece. She wasn't sure yet, but she was sure that she was going to show up both Boarstar and Batfrost. She had to.
Well, thank the stars that she possessed her grandfather's sense of smell! She tracked down and subsequently killed a squirrel with ease, then looked towards the trees. Perhaps there were even more squirrels up high in the branches. Then again, was trying to climb really worth an injury? The Chausie mix soon deemed that it was not, and after burying her catch, she moved onward.
~~~~~~
The pale-furred form of Batfrost, meanwhile, was attempting to wrestle a wolverine from its den. This did not seem like a very good idea, but he was doing so anyway. At least there were various herbs around here if he got too badly injured, but still. It just wasn't a good idea, and the odds of such a lightweight cat winning seemed low.

Cricketstep seemed to be very caught up in her daydream. Her ears perked as she caught the scent of something, and she pressed herself low to the ground as she tracked it. She continued a few steps forward before finding her target - a small forest mouse. With narrowed eyes she crept closer until she was close enough to pounce. She leaped towards it, overshooting a bit. She cursed under her breath, spinning to try and catch it, but it had already dashed off.

[Sorry for the late reply, just been a bit focused on trying to finish up some other stuff. Also, chest pains aren't fun.]
Boarstar, meanwhile, had decided to take a short break and was grooming some unruly bits of fur back into place. She soon finished up, however, and resumed the hunt. Perhaps she'd try fishing? Not that she was very good at it, but it couldn't hurt. The clay-colored cat veered sharply towards the river.

(( It's not a problem! I hope you're feeling alright. ))
She huffed in annoyance, but did her best to shake it off. Being angry wasn't going to help her catch anything. She took a deep breath, and continued on her way. There were plenty of other things to catch, she just had to find them. She walked for a bit, sniffing at the air and ground as she made her way until she came across a small but fair bird. This one she had for sure. She dropped to the ground and crawled forward slowly, just as before. This time, she made sure to judge the distance between her and her prey before leaping. This time she made contact with the small animal. She buried it and continued on her way.

[I'm better now, at least. Also, sorry for randomly poofing. Fell asleep.]
Okay, fishing wasn't such a good idea. Sure, the water helped her to cool down, but either way it wasn't fun stepping around in mud. At least it could be washed off, though. And at least she had fast reflexes. Spotting a flash of scales, she lunged. Boarstar barely managed to spear the thing before it twisted from her grasp, throwing it onto the bank with a toss of the head.
~~~~~~~
He managed to drag the thing's corpse from the den, looking a bit worse for wear but otherwise decent, and not too badly injured. That'd feed quite a few cats, provided they wanted to eat it. It smelled awfully musky, so maybe they wouldn't. Oh well, more for him.
I sincerely doubt that feral cats in a place that resembles California would know what black panthers are, but since people don't seem to be reading that part of the rules + he actually seems like a decent character, accepted.
Pantherclaw « whisked his tail, casting a glance down at the clearing ahead of him. Peace, the word seemed to hiss at him, it almost seemed too perfect... he didn't trust the sensation. His attentive gaze flickered over to where Boarstar and Cricketstep sat, and a wistful sigh emitted from his parted jaw. The Maine coon's whiskers twitched with temptation as he looked away, resting his head on his large paws with a content sigh escaping from his maw.
Batfrost emerged from the brush then, hauling the dead, battered body of a wolverine in his jaws. He was evidently stronger than he looked; the thing was only somewhat smaller than him. He looked up at Pantherclaw as he entered, blinking some kind of greeting. The fawn tom dropped his catch. "...Nice day," he began awkwardly. He'd never been one for small talk.
Pantherclaw « emitted a low purr like sound from the back of his throat as he lifted his head to meet the gaze of Batfrost, "Busy I assume?" He gestured to the fawn tom's catch, "A wolverine, I must say quite impressive Batfrost" Whisking his tail, the large Maine coon sat up with a more interested opinion on the matter. "How are you?"
"Evidently," he drawled. If anything, no matter what situation he was in, the Chausie mix's deadpan sarcasm would remain a constant. Whether or not that was comforting, well, depended on your opinion. Batfrost made a grunting noise at the praise. "Was a pain to take down, if you ask me. Time-consuming." He rolled his bicolored eyes. "Fine, I guess. Could be better. You?"
Pantherclaw « etched his claws into the soil and ran a smokey black paw over his lynx like ears, "I'm enjoying this subtle day. However, I couldn't say the same about you." He gestured to the deadpanned expression plastered on Batfrost's face. "You look as dead as that poor wolverine." He emitted a rumble of laughter, his whiskers still twitching in the aftermath.
"I'm dead inside, did you expect any less?" Batfrost shot back without skipping a beat, a devilishly curled ear flicking as if a troublesome fly had landed on it. He glanced down at the wolverine, then back at Pantherclaw. "...I can see why she chose you for deputy," he said suddenly. "I sincerely doubt that any other cat here isn't too power-hungry to see beyond their noses, beyond me, and my cousin herself. They're all short-sighted, and if you ask me, even though I'm new to this whole Clan thing, that's not a good thing."
Pantherclaw « growled softly, pushing himself to his height. "That was rude Batfrost." His lips curled into a snarl, "Would you like Boarstar to hear about this? She chose me because I do my job well. I keep cat's in line and I don't let the clan starve." He sheathed his claws, harnessing his narrowed eyes and causing his pupils to dilate into slits. "Tread carefully."
The paler-furred cat shrugged. "Do what you want; I don't give a damn. Really only got dragged into this thing for her sake, anyways. Anything else is just collateral." Being a fairly tall cat himself, Batfrost wasn't too intimidated by the other's height. He picked up the wolverine carcass again, the muscles in his neck straining as he lifted it. Dragging it a little farther away, he dropped it once again and began to dig. Better to preserve it for later, though if he managed to nab anything else it'd be a pain to carry back on his own. But, that was the price of pride.
[I swear, someday this particular grandson is going to get beat within an inch of his life for the things he says and he'll still manage to be apathetic about it. The amount of quite literally not caring about anything that this cat possesses is truly astounding.]
