Jay shrugged, his muscles rippling as he padded up to her. "I can. I thought I would come see if I could help and also remark the House territory." He said as he stood beside her. Despite being a subordinate, Jay always wanted to help more than his rank stated, and he also wanted to get closer to Inara as well. Gazing over at her he bent his head submissively. "I want to help Inara. In any way I can."

Marco practically leap sideways and grabbed the smallest bowl. He started to fill it with milk. "A cat." He explained quickly. It wasn't much, but then again, there wasn't much time. The cat was in the barn. Marco didn't like the way it was walking. He wanted to have Hazel check on the creature before it left. He assumed the creature would stay for food. He would stay if food was offered to him. He started to juggle both the meat and milk. Hopefully, the cat would like both. In the TV shows, cats loved milk, and cats ate meat in the wild. Yes, hedecied, this would work.
He brightened up until he reached the door out. His smile dropped into a frown with eyebrows furrowed. He looked down at his hands. There was no way he could open the door and not drop something. Still, he was going to try. He slowly started to shift everything around.
---
Inara nodded. She didn't see anything wrong with Jay tagging along. Sure, his pelt didn't provide stealth, but they didn't need to sneak around. His pelt might actually help since she wanted to let everything in the forest know they were here. Might even prevent some fighting. Inara did not feel like a fight this morning. Mostly because she didn't want to make a fool of herself. The brown wolf turned and padded into the forest. She didn't really have a destination in mind. It was mostly just making sure everyone knew the pack was strong.

He nodded and padded after her, staying slightly behind her so she could lead. "How are your nightly trips going?" Jay asked nonchalantly, trying to strike up conversation.

hazel ruth janna Hazel had arisen early that morning for a brief jog to check around the territory. Depsite her exhaustion, the girl had trotted along pleasantly in the quiet of the morning, soaking in what peace she could. With the scratching and howling at night, Hazel found it harder and harder to sleep, and had even moved her bed away from the window, making sure her curtains were tightly drawn shut and burying herself under several layers of blankets and pillows, the short girl nearly disappearing altogether.
It didn't help.
Still, the girl felt fairly alert as she returned to the Pack House, shifting back once she was close enough. She shook out her fur, stretching upwards and morphing fairly easily into human form, though her teeth ground slightly together and a faint blue lingered in her gaze. That won't get any easier... she thought dejectedly, sighting slightly as she opened the door and quite nearly slammed into Marco.
She gasped slightly, taking a step back as a faint blush blossomed in her cheeks, glancing the boy up and down, unable to keep her nose from crinkling up at the sight of raw meat, slight nausea twinging in her.
"Bit early for raw meat, don't you think?" she asked softly, eyes flickering to his face, posture relaxed and friendly. She glanced behind him, waving politely at Simon in greeting, expression openly neutral, though her nose hadn't filly uncrinkled yet, the smell of fresh animal overpowering the girl's sensitive nose.

Simon nodded in understanding, but since he was in his crutches he couldn't do much in the helping department when it came to carrying things. He limped over to the door, wanting to open it when Hazel opened it. He tried to backpedal on the crutches, , but it didn't work out well. He bit his lip a little nervously, still a bit uncomfortable around her even though he spent a good two months in her area after he'd returned home from his attempt at running away. He hadn't handled losing a leg well, so she'd seen the worst of him...
He glanced up, giving her a small, anxious smile at the medic, not wanting to be rude exactly so he did smile at her back. He noticed that her nose was crinkled in disgust at the raw meat, which made him tip his head lightly to one side.
"Its for the cat," He explained for Marco, who was probably too focused on getting to the feline than actually answering the question. His own features were a bit wary, but they usually held that look nowadays, so it wasn't anything against Hazel herself. He was just trying to get used to the pack members, and get used to the fact that he wasn't training to be beta anymore, so the others actually held no expectations for him.

Inara almost didn't respond. For several paces, she remained silent. Only the crunching of leaves gave away her location. She didn't know how to safely rephrase to make them sound helpful. From what she could see and smell in the dark, there were several rogues. She would chase off two, but the others would circle around. They just seemed to rotate. As for the howling, rogues were scattered along the territory each night. Chase one away and another from across the territory would start howling. She seemed to just be a wrinkle in their plans. As much as she tried, no one was going to get some peace.
"Well, I'm getting more exercise now than I ever had." she joked lightly. Inara assumed Jay would want a real answer. "Honestly, it makes me feel helpful when I don't do anything different. So, helpful for me, but less for the pack?" She ended with a questioning tone, not sure if she had phrased her words correctly.
---
Marco almost bumped into Hazel in his haste to escape the house. Instead, he took a near stumble back and almost dropped everything. Due to a lot of luck, the male managed to keep everything intact. A little milk might have sloshed out of the bowl and landed on the floor, but that was okay. No one saw it. Marco glanced at the two others before looking down at the spill. He swiftly rubbed it away, aka spread it around so no one would notice. He nodded once he determined his handiwork was flawless. He looked up when Simon mentioned the cat.
He nodded as if Hazel wouldn't believe one person. "Found a cat in the barn, but its walking odd, ya' know? So, I though I would bring it food while we waited for you." He said quickly. Marco even help up the food a fraction. He was a bit worried Hazel would hold some resentment after the meeting and not help. He was glad to see Hazel didn't or she was an expert at hiding it. He was not betting on the latter. With how much sleep everyone was not getting, he doubted most people could hide their emotions. He knew sleep deprivation made his emotions spill out like a faucet, which was probably why he wanted to help his cat. Normally, he would be less frantic. Now, he could only think about how the cat was going to leave with a possible broken leg.
"Can you come look at it?" He asked while wishing the girl would move out of the way.

Jay huffed softly, padding alongside his Alpha and shaking his head softly. "Inara I understand you're zealous approach too trying to solve the rogue problem but I feel that you're pushing yourself too thin. I mean it's not my rank to lecture you but in my sincerest opinion I feel that maybe you should talk to the rest of your Pack about what you wish to do and let us help." He woofed, looking over at her and padding a little closer to her. "Please, let us help."

hazel ruth janna Hazel studied them quietly for a moment, noticing Simon's seemingly discontented expression at her appearance. A slight frown graced her pleasant features for a moment, though it was more confused than upset as she blinked, merely nodding after a moment. She could worry about her and Simon later. Right now, she needed to focus on Marco.
A steady look entered the healer's gaze, a fmailiar one of determined calm as she shifted, moving for Marco to get through, holding the door open for him. As he skirted out, she turned to follow, hesitating for a moment, gaze flickering back to Simon, rich and hazel once more.
"Are you coming too?" she asked polite, expression friendly and open once more, though more subdued in her need to focus.

Simon glanced at Hazel again once Marco made his exit, blinking a little in surprise at the question on whether he was coming or not. He didn't know why he was surprised, perhaps because he simply thought that it was obvious he was going to go with them. He wanted to know if the cat was alright, after all.
"Mhm. I want to make sure if it's alright," he comfirmed before beginning to limp forward, hating the awkward gate with the crutches. He swallowed, still nervous around the medic as he left the house and followedMarco, surprised that Hazels expression was friendly towards him. He'd been so hostile during the first month of recovery- when he was lucid- that he wouldn't have been surprised if Hazel wanted nothing to do with him afterwards. Yet here she was, still nice to him.

Mist; No real reason. It's just rare to see older character. There is not problem. ) Cloud; Have fun! )

"I know. I know it is useless. But even if the entire pack came hunting at night, we wouldn't be able to catch them. It just makes me feel better. I know what I am doing." Inara explained, trying to keep a calm tone. Frustration rose within her when she thought about the last couple of nights. She had to push down a growl. She knew Jay was just trying to help. He did not deserve her frustration. "Anyways, we have already spoken on what to do. Watchers and cameras to prevent any more intrusions."
Doubt creeped into her mind since the meeting. This was too little action. Nothing could prevent them from coming into the territory. The rogues were wearing down the pack. Who knows what they would try to do next. The pack couldn't retaliate. They didn't know where the rogues were stationed. It could be in the town or in the forest. Inara decided she would follow them back next night. "As long as we have people watching, everything should be fine. This is all the pack needs to do right now." She reassured Jay.
---
Marco left the two behind. He slid through the cracked door. He had to give a second for his eyes to adjust. Only the small windows allowed light to enter the barn. Most were blocked by equipment. He shuffled through the various boxes until he came to an open area. The feline was still laying off to the side in the blankets.
Marco did realize something about the at seemed off. Honestly, its proportions were odd. The fur looked soft like kitten fur and it still had some kitten fat, but it was the size of a full grown cat. Its paws also seemed a bit large for its size. However, the cat had a normal fur color, brown with black spots, and normal eyes, blue. It looked like a cat-like creature. It turned its head to look at Marco. Its round ears wiggled and it jumped off of the box. The landing was rough. The cat tilted sideways and almost lost balance. however, the feline regained its balance and tottered over to the food carrying male. Marco set down his offerings and backed away.
"I think it might be a kitten actually." He muttered as he observed the feline.
(These replies are horrible. Sorry. Marco found a mountain lion cub, if it is unclear. )

hazel ruth janna Hazel grinned now, fully, her usual kind smile poking out as she held the door open for him before turning her attention towards Marco. She did, however, stay right in line with Simon, not wanting to leave the boy completely behind them. She said nothing, fairly relaxed, though she did glance at Simon wvery noe and again. Her expression was always welcoming, like there were no hard feelings.
Truth be told, Hazel couldn't hold a grudge to save her life.
However, she pulled away from Simon when they neared, hearing something animal in the shed. She entered after Marco, cautiously, allowing her eyes to adjust, canines sharpening ever so slightly and blue entering her features as the smell of the cat hit her. She drew closer, sitting criss cross on the ground and extending her hand to the creature, allowing it to sniff it and nudge before gently petting it, wanting to establish friendship before she set to work examining it. After a moment of observation, her eyebrows furrowed together in slight confusion as she turned her gaze to Marco.
"Where did you say you found it?" she asked quietly, unable to determine its gender quite yet.

Simon returned the smile hesitantly, still a little caught off guard from her open friendliness. How come she wasn't upset with him? He was well aware the other didn't hold grudges, butnhe would have assumed that she was at least a bit wary of him, yet there she was, being friendly and walking with him so he wasn't left to struggle alone. He felt a small amount of gratitude rise in his chest, but he smushed it down, not wanting to take anything the wrong way. Maybe she was just being nice, or pitied him like Marco did.
Suddenly a weird scent hit his nose and he had to wrinkle it, knowing that wasn't just any cat. He breathed out a small sigh, wondering f the boy with them had any common sense.
"Marco, that's a mountain lion cub, which means it's mom is probably somewhere around here, we shouldn't touch it, right?" He asked, looking at Hazel for confirmation, but found her on the floor, reaching out to it.

Marco watched the cub and Hazel bond with an expression of amusement and a bit of jealousy mixed in. It had taken the male at least an hour to get the feline to just sniff his hand. Petting it hadn't even happened yet. Though he couldn't deny, watching the cub circle and sniff the girl was entertaining.
"Right..."He tailed off, looking around the barn for the exact place. He couldn't quite remember were. Honestly, it had all passed in a dim blur. "There." He gestured over to a pile of boxes. Some looked newly overturned. Marco would never tell a soul, but he thought the cub had been a rat. His nature reaction to seeing a fussy creature was to try to crush it with the boxes by pushing them over. Might have been the basis of his and the cub's rocky start and his eagerness to make it up to the creature.
He then turned to look at Simon. Marco felt a bit foolish for not thinking of the mother. He assumed the cub had come alone. No mother would let their injured child out alone, right? A predator must have hurt the cub and the cub ran into the barn. He really hoped this was the case. Endangering his packmates didn't sit well with the male for obvious reasons. He scented the air. "Well, the mother's scent isn't anywhere, but on the cub. I think we will be fine. If she does show, we can transform." he said, trying to keep his cool.
